Hi Kent, Shannon, Beagle The key to making hard boiled eggs easy to peel is using eggs that are at least 2 weeks old. A fresh egg will give you fits when you try peeling it. I put my eggs in a pan of cold water, put the pan on the stove, turn it on, let it come to a boil, boil 5 minutes, cover the pan, turn off the stove, and just let them set until you can handle the eggs. Take the egg, tap it on your counter, and roll it gently, one time, under the palm of your hand until the whole egg shell cracks. If you do this the whole shell will usually come off in 1 or 2 pieces. Just my way, but It's worked for 60 years.:~)))) God bless, and keep Ole' Glory wavin' Stoney
Age of the eggs is everything, I agree. I go for about 1 month of fridge time after I get them, so probably around 6 weeks old. I usually do hard boiled because commercial growers and all that, but the shells fall right off. Forget the salting or any other of the tricks, just use your fresh ones for pan frying and save a few old ones when you go out to buy the next batch so you have something to boil.
Thanks Kent for keeping the tradition of wagon train cooking alive. I play bluegrass and sometimes we are blessed to have a Chuckwagon meal. Dallas, GA

Classic English food, nice one Kent! I had some colleagues over from California and on one particular day the canteen was serving fresh scotch eggs... only one guy was brave enough to try, he gave it a valiant effort and enjoyed what he managed, but the combo of soft yolk and rich fried sausagemeat was too much stodge for a Californian to finish.
If it helps, as a Yorkshire (north of England) born, Scottish raised fan... the clearest roots of the Scotch Egg I'm aware of have two distinct histories as to how they came about: 1 - Basically rich aristocrats around the 16th/17th century wanted a way to impress their friends by taking a "peasant" or "working class" food like eggs and pork and faffing it around, or; 2 - like Cornish Pasties, Bedfordshire Clangers, Fife Bridies and all the variations we have on local savoury pies, the Scotch Egg came about as a means for people who might have their own pigs and egg-laying chickens to have an entire meal on the go, even if kept in their pocket, so they had something calorie dense that would keep them going while they worked the field. The original coating of pastry was eventually phased out in favour of the egg and breadcrumb treatment, only because it was easier and cheaper for someone to do on a one coke/charcoal stove. The latter reason is why you find variations across this nation. In any case thanks for touching on this and for all your other cooking exploits. In wet and windy Manchester we don't really have actual cowboy cooking available, so thanks for showing how to make it,
This guy is wonderful. Made me cry just how kind and grateful he is. A genuine soul for sure! I've got three mutts and they get the last bites of everything I eat. Anyway , I wish I had a whole family like him !
Scotch egg is actually a modern abbreviation of 'scotched' egg, which is it's true name. Scotching meat involves hacking it to either tenderise, or roughly mince, which refers to the sausage meat surrounding the egg.
I know I could put at least three or four of those down my gullet ! That's a perfect meal right there now, all you need rolled up in a ball ! Thanks for sharing and take care. 👍 👍
Stood in line to get the last two Scotch eggs so my daughter and grandson and I could try them with brown sauce....went home and made my own...turned out pretty good...but watching you roll out sausage etc....got my heart racing...then mustard and horseradish? I subscribed........hugs

BBQ sauce, hot mustard, ranch or any dipping sauce is good for your liking. You cant go wrong with these! To make these easier on you make a station on your counter for each step of the process to streamline it. Makes it easier to produce mass. JImmy dean sausage(1/2 hot, 1/2 regular mixed) and Italian bread crumbs is good to use and easier if your going for that!!! These things remind me of my childhood!!
I've had armadillo eggs but the ones I had were a little different they are more like a fried jalapeno popper. Sounds good
"Lemme tell yuh folks, if yer outa shape, it'd be hard on yuh." -HAHAHA! Love it. Gonna have to try me some of those Rooster Bullets.
Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching
I prefer my eggs without the cooks spit all over them
that's what the papertowel is for. besides a little spit is good for the immune system
Santee what are you doing here
@@ShaddySoldier Love this guy, Shaddy! I wanna eat his food, meet his dogs, and swap lies with the feller. I'll even bring him a bottle of coffin varnish fer the trouble.

LOL....never knew you could peel eggs like that!....another awesome vid!.....thx K & S!
Thank you sir!!! I can't wait to make my own happy meal!!
I would drive cattle from Texas to Montana with this man.
You've inspired me buy my own cast iron skillet and start cooking more! Love this so much!
Don't wait! Just do it! You won't regret it.

"And one of them ain't a beagle" I almost cried laughing at this.
Hot damn im gonna be the king of campin this year.
Hello. I am a pastor from Alberta canada and I could watch you all day! Bravo!
If it helps, as a Yorkshire (north of England) born, Scottish raised fan... the clearest roots of the Scotch Egg I'm aware of have two distinct histories as to how they came about:
1 - Basically rich aristocrats around the 16th/17th century wanted a way to impress their friends by taking a "peasant" or "working class" food like eggs and pork and faffing it around, or;
2 - like Cornish Pasties, Bedfordshire Clangers, Fife Bridies and all the variations we have on local savoury pies, the Scotch Egg came about as a means for people who might have their own pigs and egg-laying chickens to have an entire meal on the go, even if kept in their pocket, so they had something calorie dense that would keep them going while they worked the field.
In wet and windy Manchester we don't really have actual cowboy cooking available, so thanks for showing how to make it,
Mmmmm never had such a good egg recipe
This is a man's must watch, cook, and enjoy video
This guy is wonderful. Made me cry just how kind and grateful he is.

i love the videos Mr Rollins the best part is the misses comments from behind the camera they crack me up
thank you Tim, we have a good time
Scotch egg is actually a modern abbreviation of 'scotched' egg, which is it's true name. Scotching meat involves hacking it to either tenderise, or roughly mince, which refers to the sausage meat surrounding the egg.
To scotch means to stick, like scotch tape in UK (sticky tape), so I'd say your sticking the meat to the egg.
@@dannyokeeffe526 scotching has been around far longer than the tape company 🤦♂️
@@Ecclectic_citcelccE transitive verb
archaic : cut, gash, score also : wound. "we have scotched the snake, not killed it" - William Shakespeare
@@Ecclectic_citcelccE that's what I'm saying,
Oh okay, I get it. At first I was afraid you were *holding fast* to the 3m company. I love linguistics but obviously I'm an amateur🤺
As a british guy I can really say that looks Amazing, can't beat a scotch egg for quick snack
