I've been an alcoholic since I got out of the service 11 years, a couple of weeks ago I admitted myself into a Veteran rehab. I've been sober 21 days now. Anyway, I cooked these last night for the other Vets here and it was a HIT! Love making and sharing your recipes Kent, keep em comin!

I wish my sons father would get help. He became an alcoholic. It breaks my heart that his son will not get to know him bc he’s a really great guy without the alcohol. Anyway may God continue to walk with you on your journey 🙏💕

Admittedly, I'm not a very good cook. I can follow a recipe well but I haven't much experience in the kitchen. Thanks to Cowboy Kent, my family and I just experienced the BEST SLOPPY JOE'S anyone has ever had. I even took some over to my girlfriends family(her father is an amazing cook) and they too were blown away by this magnificent recipe. Thank you so much for your positivity, it's very much needed in these turbulent times. Big thanks to Cowboy Kent and everyone behind the scenes as they help make the world a far more enjoyable place, all while helping out the novice's like me improve upon their skills in the kitchen!

We've been following this couple for about six months and tried a number of Kent's recipes, here's our take on things:
The 17 pound ham with his rub and using mesquite/hickory we smoked in a Weber grill - fastest I've ever seen 17 pounds of meat disappear
    >The sloppy joes were unbelievable, best I've ever wrapped my gums around
    >Served his cheesy steak fries and had a minor riot at the table when we served 'em, had to fight our way through to get a serving of the things
    >Have used Kent's recipe for chicken fried steak on pork chops...they stayed moist and we found we all ate too much - big surprise, huh?
    >Cooked up a batch of his grilled stuffed mushrooms at Thanksgiving and went through four pounds of them in a hurry - people ate until they weren't that hungry for the main meal.
All in all, cooking with Kent and Shannon's recipes mean some good eating and yeah, the folks who came and shared meals with us loved them. Keep it up, and thanks!

They aren’t afraid of working hard and long. Whereas The thumbs down folks are most likely the kind of people who look down on others. I just finished cooking your sloppy joe recipe and Chris and I just about wore out the carpet in the living room doing a happy dance after we ate as much as we could manage. I am 79 and Chris is 69 and both of us are retired from nursing and mental health. We live in Northeast Indiana about 20 mi north of Fort Wayne and the last time I rode a horse was at Pokagon State Park in 1968 about 2 months ago Chris and I went to a rural Western store and spent $800 on full-blown Cowboy outfits and so we are sort of kind of cowpokes. I'm 75 and have been making sloppy's since age 12 when our mom went back to work. I became the daytime cook as the oldest. I have done ketchup and Worcestershire sauce to most anything else. I even went to Key West to study the original which to me is still about the best, however now I have to try your formula too. One suggestion my mom taught me. Use that spoon to push a dent in each side of the bun, and maybe even toast it a bit to keep all that goodness from falling in your lap!

America really has a huge culture in country cooking that often goes ignored. Please try some recipes!!!
We frontiered hostile lands and because of that we often have foods that are high in fat and protein and densely packed calories. It made us fat today but 200 years ago it made us survive.
Check out biscuits and gravy. Sloppy joe. Stew. Pine beer. And everything else in between! Bland cornbread turned delicacy with butter and honey! Fish with acidic garnishments and tomato's which were native to north america at the time
If you ever come here, aside from mom and pop restaurants, go to a widely known restaurant known as cracker barrel to really experience a down home, country diet that has hundreds of years in history and culture defining it

Awesome idea! I never hate learning cooking/eating ideas etc! But makes sense on the ease of straight fw eating! Lol😀 I DAMN sure like loaded chili cheese dogs! Or smoked sausage! Bye hungry! Lol

Kent just wanted to say thanks for posting this recipe. Found it about a year ago and realized I’d never tried a good sloppy joe until I made this. I didn’t have your chili relish and used some rehydrated dry Mexican chilis (puréed em in a good processor with those canned chipotles in adobo sauce). It definitely added the heat but it was amazing.

One of my Moms specialities. Haven’t had one in 50 years but god they were great! Me I’m a Certified Executive Chef never a food snob. I’m going to jump all over this. Looks like you have a spice mix, I’ll improvise. Mom this is for you on Valentines Day always the best.

Kent, have you ever thought about Mamas most important ingredient while cooking it was "LOVE"

Made this for my dad! Absolutely adore making this, I often can’t really cook on my own and whenever I try to free style it I often or not end up failing 😅
Making this really seem to help him after a long day of work! Can’t thank you enough.

My man used rotel. That’s a great base for lots of sauces including spaghetti sauce. Also great as dip with melted velveeta and ground sausage.
