There is a case of a guy who had to have his leg amputated after (i think) a motorcycle accident, was allowed to keep his leg & grilled it for himself & a group of his friends. Its only the fact that obtaining human flesh is almost impossible without breaking SOME kind of law that makes cannibalism difficult in the US.

    So basically anything is absolutely legal in Japan simply because they want to have a clean image. The sheer amount of pure commitment to their image and pride is ridiculously unrivaled, like, they went as far as to NEVER give up fighting during the war but pushing all of their flaws under the rug?!?!? that’s honestly just inhumane imo.

    • @LilyKatina
      @LilyKatina 20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Exactly. A lot of South Asian cultures have a high emphasis on public conformity and maintaining appearances to seem ideal in the eyes of strangers. People get so mentally invested in this fake outward persona that they resort to lying to themselves and each other to fit in. It often results in people going to differing extremes in terms of how they act. Take their view on relationships and sexuality. Most of the time Japanese people maintain a pristine, staunchly conservative lifestyle where they don’t even think about that stuff, leading to the decline of families and low birth rate. While on the other hand there are people who feel strong love/sexual urges but don’t know how to express those feelings in a healthy, ethical way as they fear it will be frowned upon. This contributes to things like stalking, cheating on partners or even outright abuse which has become such an increasing problem there as well. A lot of people just can ‘t find a good balance or middle ground for how to think and live sometimes due to being put under intense social pressure and being raised in an environment where only one way is deemed acceptable.

    “Near to no crime rate.” Really? Aki you’re buggin 😂 Me, a true crime enthusiast, I know enough documented crimes from Japan like the Junko case that would make crimes in the west or around the world seem like nothing crazy compared to Japan. Unlike the west who are outspoken and don’t like to hide shit, Japanese tend to keep to themselves, they’re careful about what they release to the public which is why the *off-self and loneliness rate is really high compared to other countries, it’s like having no one to actually vent to. The reason why many weebs don’t realise that is because of “confirmation bias” which the brain tends to look for things or patterns that confirms their beliefs creating the illusion that what you think you know is objective truth but really isn’t. It’s scientifically proven so there’s no denying it. That’s why most weebs or people who watch anime believe Japan has little crime rate or haven’t done fcked up shit, they believe what they want to believe, triggering cognitive confirmation biases. I like Japan but when it comes to absolute truth, then I put my biases aside. It’s not surprising why most people who go to Japan have said that “Japan is great to visit but not for long term.”

    Junko Furata's case pissed me right off. I covered it for a university paper and I nearly had a mental breakdown because of how much research I had to do for it. It was just such a senseless and horrific crime. I actually sited one of Aki's videos and I think I sited one of Joey's one it too. It was just such a horrifying case. This poor innocent girl didn't deserve what happened to her and the fact people made a manga on it was sickening.
    To clarify, her case wasn't the only one I did. I had to do multiple cases for the paper, but hers by far was the most horrifying and devastating one.

      @bozehage 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I would like to ask you a question, since you have even written a paper on Junko's case. As Aki said in this video, do you think it's true that the culprit's mother vandalized Junko's grave?
      There are even rumors that Junko's grave was relocated to Houston, USA, but I think that is a bit unlikely.
      Personally, I think the story that the culprit's mother vandalized her grave is just a rumor and probably not true, but I would like to hear your opinion.

      I know. I suspect many of these countries that have "low" crime rates just sweep them under the rug, especially in countries where talking about SA and domestic abuse is stigmatized. None of the people talked about in this video(outside of the boys that did what they did to Junko in reality), did anything illegal, or frankly particularly morally wrong, including the woman that I'm sad to hear did end up arrested for entirely non-harmful things.
    You can count it as distasteful, you can personally dislike it, sure, that's fair and valid. But saying that people making manga or games should be thrown in JAIL for ART? A dangerous route to go down, very slippery slope to banning any art someone merely finds distasteful. Artistic expression SHOULD be protected, no matter how much any of us might disagree with it or find it distasteful, unless it's an active call to actually go commit crimes against real people, which neither of the examples are.
    As for the guy serving up his "special meal".... yeah it's WEIRD, but like, its his own flesh he had surgically removed, legally, and the people that showed up did so of their own will, knowing full well what it was going to be. Everything seems to have been entirely consensual, so while we can dislike or and find it weird, I don't see anything jail-worthy having been done.

      He had a complete grip on Japan's entire entertainment industry. They definitely all knew what was happening and kept their mouth shut until the outside noise became too loud to handle. I also found out that in Japan, male SA victims did not legally exist until the law was changed in 2017.

    Aki... not gonna lie. you caught me off guard with that last story. I want to look at the Japanese gods of antiquity and be like, what did she do bro to hurt you? Like, it was one night. She had a cold. She was tired and turned over and didn't notice that you were looking to mix it up at midnight, and you punish her female children for the rest of eternity? Like dang! It's time to let it go!

    Honestly if you don’t know about Junko Furuta and you’re curious then be warned it’s the most devastating thing I’ve ever learned about. This case is what made me realise how dark the depths of humanity can be and that it’s a scary world out there. Not just the culprits are disgustingly evil, but also their families and the justice system that let them off with a slap on the wrist, if not enabled them. May they never find peace.

    to be honest i see nothing wrong with what 'most' of these people did. i was going to say the worst one was the game but no the worst one is the kenshi author who had actual cp. that one really should have been arrested. the others are mostly morally ambiguous and is more keeping it to their fantasies and nothing more. I mean people may freak at the game but look at hentai and also we have games were you rip the face off living women and no one has issue with that.
    as for the cannible? i almost think they didn't do anything cuz it was his own part. so it makes the wrongness of it more questionable if it's his own part and not someone else's.
    and i honestly agree that the woman at the end should have had NO repurcussions. she's basically making joke pieces of her 'part'. like why should anyone care?

    This is incredibly strange and off-topic (Haven't gotten into the video yet). The other night I had a dream where I was on Twitter/X and saw a photo that Aki uploaded of herself. It was a photo taken in front of the mirror and Aki was pregnant, but her belly was so large (stretched out/elongated) that I could only think her baby was already the size of a toddler.

    the cannibal guy didnt really do anything wrong-aside from messing up the actual cooking.
    it was his own body part and everyone involved consented to eat said body part and/or knew that people would be eating that at the event and intended knowing such. literally nothing but something uncomfortable happened.

    So... I guess this will be a controversial opinion, but let's go:
    Case 1- I'll stick with the "Creative Expression" banner. Don't get me wrong, he totally shouldn't have made a manga about Furuta Junko, but outside of her family suing him, he only thing that should have stopped him from doing so (bar from, you know, his conscience I suppose), is the fact that he was profiting on the story of a real person;
    Case 2- If you somehow got consent, there's nothing wrong with cannibalism. Just don't kill people, nor desecrate random bodies and it should probably be fine.
    Bonus: If you are surprised about people paying for that, look up "Artist's Shit", humans will always be weird, not only Japan.
    Case 3- Personally, I see no difference between playing this game and reading some hentai out there. Is it bad taste? Absolutely. But go to jail for making something that doesn't harm any real person? I don't know about that.
    All in all, I would reprimand cases 1 and 3 (and in case 1's . . . case, prohibit him from profiting with that particular manga), but I wouldn't sentence them to jail (again, in case 1, unless the family came forward for it).
    Igarashi Megumi's case is crazy tho. Doesn't make sense to arrest or fine her, and those involved in her arrest should be held accountable. What was even the charge? "Peer pressure"?
