Russian President Vladimir Putin said his recent decree to increase the size of the armed forces was driven by the need to staff units in the new military districts. "Regional and federal authorities need to engage in close cooperation to solve a key task: to ensure that the armed forces are manned with skilled and trained people, skilled and trained personnel, including units and formations of permanent combat readiness in the new military districts," he said at a meeting on the development of the armed forces in the conditions of the special military operation. "The recently published decree on setting the authorized strength of the armed forces was aimed to address this very goal," Putin said. The decree will come into force on December 1, he said. On Monday, the president signed a decree increasing the number of servicemen in the Russian Armed Forces by 180,000 servicemen to 1.5 million. According to the decree, the total authorized strength of the armed forces is set at 2,389,130 people. The previous decree, which has been in effect since December 1, 2023, set the total number at 2,209,130 people, including 1,320,000 servicemen. In February, the president signed a decree changing the administrative setup of the Russian armed forces by reinstituting the Moscow and Leningrad military districts. On March 1, the Western Military District will be abolished, and the Northern Fleet will lose the status that effectively equated it with a military district. The DPR and LPR, as well as the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions will became part of the Southern Military District.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Wednesday that dismissing Russian President Vladimir Putin's warnings about the dangers of Ukraine using Western weapons to attack Russian territory is both provocative and perilous. With both the UK Parliament and EU Parliament calling for escalation to war with Russia over Ukraine and Nato expansion, the people of the UK and Europe know whom are responsible to blame when that disastrous man-made disaster happens.
Francis, I recall hearing that some Russian commanders simply do not record deaths in the field. They leave the bodies out there and then the state does not have to pay any compensation. All of which sounds fairly disgusting, but it cuts down on expenses.
The recapture of all stolen Ukrainian land including Crimea is of the utmost importance to all the Ukrainians, not just because of the strategic importance, but because they now want reperations to be paid by Rusdia and now because so many Ukrainians have died and suffered so badly by this Russian expansionist invasion. Therefore Ukraine will never stop now, untill reparations are paid in full by Russia. The war has already escalated to the point of no return, becomming a do or die - all or nothing conflictbetween these two countries... The Western world now realises and perseives Russia to be a perennial land thief. Russia's constant parasitic global expansionist greed goes back to Mongolian expansionism with Catherine and Alexander the Great reinforcing this parasitic land grab. When the war against Finland started before the WW2 Russia a stole huge tracts of land from Finland, That is when the world realised Russia would never be satisfied.... this view reinforced when Russia invaded Eastern Europe Albania Latvia and the Czechs and Poland and Germany etc. after WW 2. Russia changed its overt style to of expansionism, to one of covert expansionism. Russia then ran destabilising proxy wars in Asia Africa Central and South America with the apex first with the Cuban crises and then the Angolan crisis. Then switching this philosophy to the Africa and Middle East. First Egypt then Iraque and Iran and Yemin, before finally switching back to overt invasions and suppression of Chechnia and Georgia and now Ukrain. Well the world is now done and saying ...Enough already! Russia has to be stopped once and for all!. This constant Russian threat of theft and bullying has to be stopped. Russia's threat to resort to using small tactical neuclear bombs is simply unacceptable. Russia realises that by resorting to these weopans of mass destruction they will be turned their own country into to glass. So it a non starter to use doomsday weapons. Both Ukrain and Russia realises Neuclear weopans are best yaed as a deterebt. But the world has had enough. It is not just Europe that is tired of the Russian threat, it is the rest of the free world, including China and India.

Now. That ukraine has lost twenty percent of its landmass and sixty percent of its natural resources, how come the british storm shadow and challenger two didn't help defend this tiny little strip of land?
It lost 18% of its landmass. This was almost all taken in 2014 and February of 2022. (where 72k km2 were taken). Russia did take another 39k in March of 2022, but then lost 36k in April. It had marginal gains in the summer, but then big losses in late in the year from the Kharkiv and Kherson counteroffensives. Ukraine did NOT lose 60% of anything except coal; this is a myth, based on a map of "numbers of mines" (most of which are small mines that are long since closed), and has nothing to do with Ukraine's economic power.
