A heartfelt thank you to all of you for being here! I still can't believe Coffeehouse Crime has reached one million subscribers... so it's time for a change in scenery. I hope all of you enjoy the new coffeehouse. ☕ Please feel free to share your thoughts on the case of Joji Obara (or otherwise) below! -- Adrian ☕
It is refreshing to see true crime content that is internationally diverse and focused on respect for and the life of the victims primarily, rather than the killer.
We can’t ignore how japanese authorities tried sweeping it under the rug. Their “culture of respect” isn’t what everyone thinks. Their rules of honor and respect are to each other only not foreigners
Lol that is so true. I remember reading an article a while back that if you get into a serious accident in Japan. They’ll literally drive you to the airport to be taken out the country. Japanese hospital only for Japanese. Now that was a while back since I read that article I wonder if anything has changed.
@@wesleylamb7782 …it’s not good in either case. Not something to emulate. It’s something to change. Don’t be racist or “tribal”. You live in civilized society so act like it.

I've been a fan for about a year now. I'm not surprised by your success, my dude. You do an amazing job. From the storytelling in a cozy coffee shop setting to the compassionate way you frame focus on the victims and survivors and their lives. Most media tends to focus on the scandal and gore and the people that it affected get lost in the details. Not with you. And that's why you're the best. You should be so proud of yourself! You deserve this success and more! Congratulations.
If I’ve learned one thing from watching True Crime stuff, it’s that there’s nothing police everywhere hate having to do more than taking a missing persons report seriously. If you get abducted, ya better have friends who wanna find you.
That's not true. Cops get 10000s of missing case reports daily. There has to be a system of weeding out the ones which are not really missing because it is impossible for police to give 100% attention to every case. Sadly some will slip through and many will waste police resources on runaways or misunderstandings or people being drunk and so on.
When you said “I can’t fit all of you in this coffee house” I thought you were going to ask for more patrons on patreon or limit most of your content to patreon or something. When instead you revealed a new coffeehouse backdrop-that was so wholesome and innocent 😂💓
@@obbo333 that's what I thought. Love the hanging lights, and even though you know it's not real, the traffic lights out the 'window' are neat. Good choice!
Japan gets praised for being a safe place. While I'm sure it generally is, I think that after watching some of your videos, I wonder how much crime is swept under the carpet and ignored especially crimes against women.
I found it suspicious how a traditional conservative nation but the men have a fetish for school "girls". Then I found out how the birthrate went down because of how much people work for little money that there's no time for kids. Then I found out about their hostile justice and 99% conviction rate of prosecutors. It's off my list of places to visit along with Saudi Arabia. Atleast with other places you know the crime rate so you know what you're getting yourself into
That isn't what happened here. Before the conclusion to this case Japanese police didn't update anyone on active cases, not even family or media. They kept everything compartmented to the team investigating the case. Why would they do this? Excellent question thanks for asking. Answer: they've had to deal with the Yakuza since 1960s disrupting and ruining cases. So they weren't even making the investigations known outside of the team investigating it. This way if information is leaked or something else goes wrong, they know exactly who leaked/screwed up and can immediately replace the officers on the case in an attempt to the keep the case valid and moving. Now obviously this doesn't always work. Sometimes a case just apart. In learning during this case that we Westerners want updates on the case so we know what's going on. They would change the way the way they look at international cases like this one. Honestly before this case it probably didn't occur to them that anyone would want to be informed. In Japan, citizens rarely even know an investigation is taking place unless they are directly involved. Now I'm not going to say which was is better because both have more pros than cons. However I will say in Japan over 90% crime is accurately solved. But in the US for example accurately solved crime is less than half that. Though as to why has more to do with Prosecutors and judges/juries than the police involved. But corruption exist everywhere. So maybe don't assume things until you've done your own research into how others go about solving crime And never apply the rules or problems of your own country to how another country does something. Hell even Britain's justice system functions differently than the US system and the US system is actually based off of Britain's system. Every country has their own methods. Nothing is universalized.
@@chrisbennett6236 they don't care if that's what happened in THIS case or not. They're saying in general. And you realize the fact that citizens there don't know when an investigation is going on, that the police could even more easily sweep things under the rug, right? If no one even knows something happened then they're definitely not going to know when something's hidden away, and no amount of research you do will show that.
The care and compassion that you take with each case, it’s not hard to believe you are at 1 million. I really resonate with how well you tell each story. Congrats to you.
As a parent i can definitely see her parents hesitation about a job like that in a foreign country, it definitely sounds like a job that can take a wrong turn with the wrong client, like the one here
Especially a country infamous for EXTREME xenophobia, and Yakuza pretty much controlling the entirety of the "hostess" business if i remember correctly.... I have notixed Brits and Americans alike have this weird tendency to assume every country is the same as their own; acting accordingly, often with no regard to local culture and customs, and expecting the locals to act like they do... In reality i wouldnt be surprised Yakuza buddies of that psycho made sure he gets off easily, and knowing how ABSURDLY racist and isolationist Japan was and i guess still is, i wouldn't be suprised he would be found innocent anyway even without Yakuza ties as he was a Japanese citizen and she was a foreigner so everyone would be on his side, police, judges etc.
Easy money is almost always accompanied with harsh consequences. To take this job one has to have loose morals. Unfortunately loosely moraled people usually suffer from severe consequences.
I am japanese living in France, and it was the Japanese crimes that you cover that made me discover your channel in the first place. I have watched every single video of yours since then and I really appreciate that you cover cases from all around the world. It makes your channel interesting and unique! Congratulation!
Hearing stories about Japanese police always irritate me in such a specific way. Like I've seen malice and incompetence from loads of police forces in my time but in Japan there seems to be this overwhelming...like... apathy that really pisses me off. Like the goal isnt to solve anything but to return to "normal" no matter what. Even if that means letting killers or rapists go. Double when its for a foreigner.
The only crime channel I can watch when I want to sleep. Your voice is so calming. You tell the stories so well, your intention is so pure and you ALWAYS highlight the victims and not the criminals. Not surprised about you hitting 1.000.000. Big congrats and thank you. I've watched every video, many even twice.
I just love how humble Adrian is! There’s a reason why he’s grown so much and continues to grow! Humble and puts his heart and soul into every video! Thank you Adrian for delivering amazing content! and I absolutely adore the new coffee shop, warm and cozy vibes! ♥️♥️♥️
Yeah I’ve watched other crime channels and they take murder and death as a joke just for entertainment . Adrian you take these crimes seriously and show the victims and family and friends their stories with sensitivity and the respect they deserve, nuff Respect ✊🏾
@Faded Glory Revival oh no no no! Mike is another one I absolutely adore! Mike in @that chapter is also very humble and funny. You can’t say anything bad about Mike! Don’t you dare!
I am so sad for all the victims and victim's families. The first 48 hours of a missing person are the most critical and it is horrible that police would not do anything at first. Sounds very similar to many unsolved true crime stories that occur in the US. I wonder what Joji Obara's brothers (and possibly also mother) think of him?
I don’t even like coffee, but I love your channel. I appreciate the reverence and respect you give the victims in the telling of their stories. Thank you.
Hostessing is presented to foreigners in Japan as a perfectly safe and legitimate option, like an extra friendly waitress. In reality though, it's sleazy and exploitative and "gaijin" hostesses aren't seen as much better than prostitutes in the eyes of their employers and clients. It disturbs me how many people think it's a harmless summer job.
That "job" can be labeled as "sex work" imo, and sex-work is prostitution. There is nothing empowering and honorable in prostitution, it is always an industry of exploitation, nor can it ever be anything else, no matter what the media tells us.
At some point circumstantial evidence becomes overwhelming. This is one of those times, imo. As a parent and human being I can't imagine even entertaining the idea of taking money in exchange for not pursuing a murderer. What her father did makes me sick to my stomach.
You should read “People Who Eat Darkness” by Richard Lloyd Parry. It’s an excellent coverage of the Lucie Blackman case, and the reasons the father gives for accepting the money are very reasonable. Don’t condemn Lucie’s dad out of hand; he’s a decent man who cared deeply about his daughter.
@@GradKat so what is the reason? I couldn't think any reason could justify it considering the family didn't agree with it don't think it's gonna be universally justified regardless
My problem with most true crime creators is that they just treat the victims like they weren't people. You have become my favorite creator so quickly because you always remember who they were before they became victims. You treat them with so much respect
@@RazB3rry1008 that’s not necessarily a bad thing. All audiences have different tastes. I float between Truly Criminal and That Chapter amongst a few others because they’re also v accomplished on how they do it and I sometimes appreciate a little humour - it’s never directed at the victims and their memories are always treated with respect.
You’ve grown this channel up fast. 1m in 17 months goes to show you how good you are at what you’re doing. I subbed after just 2 videos. The quality and detail are what got me hooked compared to other crime channels. No gimmicks, just details.
You sound so genuine in every single one of these cases, always showing compassion for the victims and their families. It's one of my favorite things about your narration; other true crime channels are in it for the shock value and horror of it without regard for the victims, but you show that these crimes are committed by actual people who lived mostly normal lives against people who truly deserved none of it. It helps put a real perspective into everything and makes one realize that these aren't all just preventable situations - people can be vile and have a method to their atrocities, which is why there are so many victims (this goes for the many, many domestic violence cases that are out there as well). Your compassion makes all of these cases strangely calming to listen to, while also letting us feel that same compassion and sadness for people who truly didn't deserve to lose their lives like this. Congratulations on hitting 1 million, you truly deserve it. :)
you deserve the 1 mil, you've managed to set ur personal style and niche in a very saturated genre of TH-cam. Happy for you, and looking forward to many more years of content if you're up for it!

Congratulations on 1 mil Adrian! Randomly found the channel through my JCS rabbit hole and I've stayed since finding yours. Been a wild ride and your rapid growth was amazing to see. Looking forward to more and reaching another million!
@@christianheard3898 I was curious about this as well some time ago. From what I understand the style of JCS is the police interrogation of alleged criminals. I myself prefer story format such as our young Adrian here delivers rather than long tedious interrogations. Hope this helps. ☮️💜NvUSA
The message she sent saying "I'm being taken to the beach..!" gave me chills, knowing what happened a short time later. Love your channel; congratulations on 1 million subscribers; very much deserved Adrian!
I remember taking a keen interest in this case during the long fight for justice. Her father's acceptance of the "bribe" horrified me. It was a relief when he was finally declared guilty. She fell into a trap, which many innocent woman had done. She met a monster.
I notice quite often that a lot of these murder cases are either unsolved or solved decades later and it's mainly because of police incompetence. It angers me so much. Also, congrats on 1M!! Keep doing what you're doing, 2M is right around the corner ;)
I can understand tbh. Calling the hospital casts a little doubt on whether or not he did it. I think he most likely did it and even if he didn’t, disposing of the body is illegal
I enjoy this channel most, because of the genuinely respectful way you shed light on ths victims first and humanise them whilst explaining the tragedy. It's not gore, jokes or quips, just allowing us to hear their stories keeping their memory alive. Thank you.
Congratulations on reaching the 1 million milestone, Adrian! You thoroughly deserve it. It's not just about how many more girls this man would've hurt in the future, but it's also about how many he had done so in the past. Thank God! He's been put away for life.
I've been living in Japan, Tokyo for almost 3 years now and I still can't wrap my head around hostesses and cabarets jobs, Japanese schoolgirls do it as a part-time job and let's not even talk about prostitution, but it's actually scary. Like yeah I feel super safe in Tokyo and at night, compared to Europe and Paris especially but gods! Stalking, domestic violence, rape and things like that are SO overlooked by Japanese forces and police! We know that even if we go make a report or something it won't help, they just look at you and says "well then move out" if you're being stalked for example. Ugh, I know nowhere is perfect but that's messed up
It's easy to have low crime stats and good clearance rates if you don't record or report the former and only prosecute slam-dunks (after conditions and treatment in custody which would be illegal in the US and most Western countries) for the latter.
@@carebear8762 Yes, it's like with Covid, they don't record sh*t and stuff so on paper it looks like everything is fine and low compared to the rest of the world but the reality is completely different, and that's a truth I had to learn the hard way coming here! But nowhere's perfect so lol
That honestly just shows it is an internalized and intrinsic part of one culture, as it is the obsession with white people, especially females. Not to mention that It happens in most Asian countries. China for example uses white people to legitimize their jobs, to advertize them and now they even use white bloggers to whitewash the Uyghur genocide. They use "White monkey" as a term to describe those gullible white people, they then exploit their goodness and this happens. Honestly those cultures are to blame.
yeahyeah, "hostess" clubs are brothels, lets not mince up what it rly is xD "Officialy" s*x is not part of the trade at Girls Bars, "unofficialy" many hostesses are encouraged to go on extracurricular sojourns with regulars aka 'salarymen'(if invited) in order to maintain their business. The Bar owner usualy gets a 50/50 cut of the business. SO yeah, lets call it what it rly is. Japan is a weard place and evrything around redlight stuff is covered up, you have soaplands, image clubs, pink salons, Opai clubs, doll clubs, Happening bars. You also have this weard thing where 9 - 10 - 11 + year old girls are dancing on stage in scimpy outfits in front of audience wich are mostly 40y old men taking pictures. And yes this is allowed. Alot of japanese women (+85%) end up working or have worked in these places during their lives. there's a reason why so many japanese men dont want to have any relationships anymore. Basicly japan is one big Brothel these days. They are basicly the 2nd largest s*x industry in the world next to Thailand that still holds the nr.1 spot. They just try to keep this hidden.
Found this shorter version much more informative than how Netflix told it. So many important parts that are missing on their documentary. Glad I found this.
You seem like a respectful guy who narrates well and paints a picture for us. You focus on the victim more than the criminal. Many more subscribers and succes to follow and we will be here along the journey. Congrats 👏🏻
Congratulations Adrian! Much deserved milestone that I’m glad to be a part of. I did want to identify a correction - ¥40 Million is roughly $330,000. The equivalent of $33 Million would be ¥4 Billion. Best regards on the continued success!!
Just realized how amazing my dad is by being hypervigilant about my wellbeing, calling me on a daily basis and always wanting to know what's going on in my life and what people I surround myself with... up until now I was always annoyed but sure as fuck I can guarantee he would've murdered the pos himself the minute he would hear the word "condolences money".
I love your content, especially the way that you’re always respectful towards the victim and their family, and also focus on the fact that they weren’t just a victim of a crime, but they were someone’s loved one. Thank you for being the way you are, and congratulations on 1mil. Please stay the way you are, and continue to be respectful and humanise the victims.
Couldn't agree more. No theatrics, no embellishment, no dehumanizing BS. Adrian is one of a kind, I've yet to see another channel that shows this level of respect and compassion.
The most wholesome true crime channel on TH-cam. I love how you put much more focus on the victims and their families rather than the perpetrator. We must never forget about them and not let their memory die.
you can honestly tell just how much time and effort he spends on not only researching the topics but also the production. love your videos man keep it up
That Chapter and Coffeehouse Crime my absolute favourite Crime channels. Keep up the GREAT work. Thank you so much for not stretching the plot endlessly and forever. Short and sweet and to the point. We love it!
Congratulations! Your concise and clear narration and respect shown to the victims is what garnered you all these subscribers. Other channels try to make these stories humorous and it’s downright irritating. Keep up the great content!
I’ve seen a lot of true crime videos, but this feels different. You give a human aspect, focusing on the victims and a calmer tone in every video, while the other crime videos are more threatning and have a dark tone focusing more on the criminals and their mo. I am a fan since 2021 an I feel comfortable in your channel
Most True Crime channels try unnecessarily hard to come off as scary and put far too much focus on the criminals I think Adrian understands these crimes are disturbing enough without the horror voice and effects
I only wish the neighbour had called the police when they heard the shouting, rather than a day later. But I know how paralysing that kind of fear and concern can be, and how the brain will try to come up with any explanation other than "something is seriously wrong", to keep you sane. Also id have thought the hospitals would've tried to connect Joji to an emergency line for an ambulance - maybe they did and he just hung up every time.
Congratulations on hitting 1mil! I have been a true crime loverfor ages but get turned off by crime TH-camrs, especially when they put on makeup whilst talking about a tragedy or taking it lightheartedly or try to get views with clickbait titles. But i have been a loyal watchers of yours because of how respectful you are towards the families and the victims. I hope this community keeps growing
i always appreciate how respectful you are of the victims and their families, on top of not hesitating to condone the actions of terrible people with ample evidence. congrats on hitting the milestone!! you deserve it and im happy to grab a coffee and listen to you once a week!
I've been watching since 50k. I've never been so happy to see a creator grow so much as I am with you. You haven't changed one bit since the fist video. Stayed humble. You're so different to most crime channels you're so respectful and calm. I look forward to continue seeing you grow
Fell in love with this channel 💘. Honestly, from the vast number of crime channels, I found only coffee house crime and truly criminal really respectful to the victims with unprejudiced narration style. Also, your voice is really soothing with no unnecessary modulation which gives a good hearing experience, unlike some of the others. Though you mostly present many of the lesser known crime stories around the world, I was pleasantly surprised how you presented the infamous Elisa Lam case. Instead of all the supernatural mumbo jumbo which everyone tried to make this case about, you actually gave a very logical explanation along with a good history of the victim. Keep it up Adrian and continue doing what you do best.
Been watching Adrian since he had 20k subscribers, mad to see how quickly Adrian has grown but he really deserves it! A very modest youtube who covers stories in such a respectful way.
The dad is a POS to take that money Also congrats on reaching one million!! Your cases are unique and you handle them compassionately. You don’t present it in a jokey flippant way and that is appreciated. Keep on keeping on man! We are all rooting for you.
The Dad knew that the mother was not going to drop the case and that the killer would have to face trial anyway. Maybe it was his last FU to the killer.
Legal fees add up very quickly, and private investigators sure aren’t cheap. They had a lot of expenses to cover, it’s pretty justifiable, especially when he’s already aware the mother refused the money and will continue to pursue sentencing… the $450k could be used to cover legal expenses incurred as a result of this waste of oxygen’s crimes. It won’t bring back their daughter, but it will prevent the financial crippling of the family that are still alive. Not to mention Joji had 10 decades of assaults on video and another murder charge, there was next to 0 chance he’d receive anything other than a life sentence, what difference does it make if he receives another sentence on top of a life sentence? Everyone knows Joji was guilty of that murder, they can’t sentence him more harshly than he has already been and the dad has an opportunity to cover all legal expenses incurred, why wouldn’t he take the money?
Absolutely LOVE the way you present each program! You are an amazing compassionate person, and that is always needed! I sure appreciate the time you put into all you do! I have loved watching your channel grow and will continue to support you. I wish you all of the success in the future and I know you'll achieve anything you set your mind to!
When it comes to cases like that, Japanese police is still notoriously incompetent. Four years ago my friends co-ed was r@*ed by her date. They had few amazing dates prior and she trusted the guy enough to invite him for a coffee at her flat. Once he was in, the mask was off and he forced himself on her. She went to the hospital for a medical statement and then to the police. Police said, her inviting him equals concent and didn't even bother to question him. She tryed of lawyer up, but was told that cases in Japan hardly get convictions unless the quilt can be 100 per cent proven and procecurots won't go with her case.
Congrats on hitting a million sir! I joined just a couple of months back. It’s hard to remember but you may have been around 700k at that time. Your fast growth has been great to witness and is well deserved. I appreciate the effort placed into you content and respectful tone in your story telling. You also pay great homage and respect to the victims and their families. Thank you
Living in Japan can be great fun because it's such an unusual and exotic place. But when things go wrong and you need the police or justice, you learn that the unusual and the 'exotic' side of Japan goes way, way deeper than you could ever imagine and that you're actually living through the looking glass, in a very dark, very odd country, with very dark and very odd ways.
Yeah I dunno about all that since I've never been to Japan although I would love to go but I have heard MANY MANY stories about westerners (mostly women) being murdered or going missing in Japan.
yup Japanese police is the most useless thing in the world when it comes to helping people, especially „foreigners“. They‘re very good at harassing you instead.
This new background works quite well. Well done Adrian, I am following your account since it started! Love the way you bring us through those new cases. Keep it going! Take care! ☕
Congratulations!! I found your channel last year and watching it grow from 50k people to a million has been amazing. I recommend your channel all the time because the cases are always interesting and because you genuinely care about the people you're talking about. Your compassion and sincerity have helped me out of some dark times and for that I thank you. Can't wait to see the channel continuing to grow. 🖤
I'm glad that you covered this case. "People who eat darkness" is an excellent book written by a British journalist who was following this case closely and at some point even received threats for it. So many details in there, impossible to cover in a 25 minute video. An unbelievable well written book, that reads like fiction. Sadly, it's not!
@@katelinkeeney8903 I live in Chiba and this part of Japan was relevant to this story. I remember that the book made me cry and emotional, but also reminded me to be careful, yet appreciate living. You will appreciate the writer and the profession of journalism.
I love this channel so much, I love watching the crimes that I have never heard of Especially cases which happened in 2020 or 2021 which sadly the news (especially in the UK) haven’t talked about I love the old cases too, and what I love the most is you show some of transcripts, body cam footage or evidence found in the video, brings more insight into what these people did Not to mention you mostly talk about killers which can be hid in plain sight (mostly murderers who were abusers) Keep going! I love to watch and listen to these :DDDD they are so informative to watch!!!

I love the comfy atmosphere of talking about crime over coffee. Feels like cops talking about old cases. But also, I kind of wish there wasn't so much murder to talk about.
I think it’s a community wide consensus at this point to say that you’re the best creator in your field. I’m personally glad you get all the positivity, love, and interaction that this community gives you as you seem like a great dude Adrian. Much love and respect, and here’s to 2mil soon!
The reason you grown so much is your thoughtful narration, facts about the place and the respect you put to the victims and their families. Keep it up! Congrats! :)
Late to commenting but I have to say, when you first popped up I was thinking how silly yet charming the coffee house theme was to the true crime genre. And yet I love it. I am an avid coffee and tea drinker and whenever I go to watch one of your videos and hear you say to grab a coffee I always realize I already have one lol. Thanks for being awesome!
I did a report on this case back in high school a few years ago; super nice to see it get covered by one of my favorite youtubers all these years later.
It's been so fun watching this channel go. I really enjoy the channel That Chapter as well, but you cover stories in such a way that is just amazing. It's told in an order that is extremely easy to follow with narration equally as easy and calming to follow. With lots of respect towards victims and no sensationalizing the content. Congrats on 1M, you really deserve it. Thanks for the continuous great content.
Congratulations on 1M! Love the new Coffeehouse look. Even though these stories are dark, creepy and some just horrible...I really enjoy listening to you tell them. A lot of these stories I had never heard of, so thank you for sharing them. Again, Congratulations on 1M!💜

I love coffeehouse crime because this channel is so good at making the viewers feel like the videos are a breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle of life. personally, i feel like i am in a coffee shop after a long day and adrian's that one friend who'd just tell a very interesting story every time. I'm sure that's the goal of the whole set up now. A for effort. very chill and unproblematic channel. Well-deserved!
Thank you for taking this case which I remember very well watching it on the news when I was an uni student in Tokyo. May I just point out how terribly our police treats women or girls cases /accusations in this country. Yes as you pointed out our police did not act swiftly enough after her disappearance because she was a foreigner but also she was a women with an occupation as “kyabakura” girl. Our police and society have a discrimination towards people who work in night life. Even more spite towards women in that industry. When they get in trouble, our police see you with “well you signed up for this” type attitude. Don’t get me started on how our police treat women and girls who came forward to claim stalking and sexual crimes. Good thing Lucy’s family turned to the press to put pressure on Japanese police. My sincere condolences to the victims family.
Congratulations on one million, Adrian! When I joined your channel 12 months ago, I knew you'd go places, but your rise has been insane. I didn't think it would come so soon Good job, you deserve it! You cover every story so well. The way you tell the victim's stories is both respectful and enthralling!

We can’t ignore how japanese authorities tried sweeping it under the rug. Their “culture of respect” isn’t what everyone thinks. Their rules of honor and respect are to each other only not foreigners
Yeah that means all foreigners when we do that in England we get called racist not my fault I'm tribal to my people.
Lol that is so true. I remember reading an article a while back that if you get into a serious accident in Japan. They’ll literally drive you to the airport to be taken out the country. If I’ve learned one thing from watching True Crime stuff, it’s that there’s nothing police everywhere hate having to do more than taking a missing persons report seriously. If you get abducted, ya better have friends who wanna find you.
100%
That's not true. Cops get 10000s of missing case reports daily. There has to be a system of weeding out the ones which are not really missing because it is impossible for police to give 100% attention to every case. Sadly some will slip through and many will waste police resources on runaways or misunderstandings or people being drunk and so on.

Atleast with other places you know the crime rate so you know what you're getting yourself into
Exactly
So maybe don't assume things until you've done your own research into how others go about solving crime
And never apply the rules or problems of your own country to how another country does something.
Hell even Britain's justice system functions differently than the US system and the US system is actually based off of Britain's system.
Every country has their own methods. Nothing is universalized.
It’s the same with Saudi Arabia….they sweep so much under the rug
@@chrisbennett6236 they don't care if that's what happened in THIS case or not. They're saying in general. And you realize the fact that citizens there don't know when an investigation is going on, that the police could even more easily sweep things under the rug, right? If no one even knows something happened then they're definitely not going to know when something's hidden away, and no amount of research you do will show that.
The care and compassion that you take with each case, it’s not hard to believe you are at 1 million. I really resonate with how well you tell each story. Congrats to you.

What kind of job is this anyway? It's soft prostitution.
@@josetheman239 its pretty common in these countries for wealthy usually older men to pay for the company of a beautiful woman

Hostessing is presented to foreigners in Japan as a perfectly safe and legitimate option, like an extra friendly waitress. In reality though, it's sleazy and exploitative and "gaijin" hostesses aren't seen as much better than prostitutes in the eyes of their employers and clients. It disturbs me how many people think it's a harmless summer job.
Women are very naïve. But they want to be treated as adults, so they bear responsibility for their decisions.
Like "escorts" in the U.S. Usually just a fancy way of saying "prostitute".
many of the clients expect sexual services. i didn't even know that people thought it was a harmless summer job
Very well said. Many clients even use stimulants so they can get the most "bang for their buck". These men become very unpredictable.
I am not a parent but the father sickened me too. I can't even fathom how immoral one has to be to accept an offer like that.

Like yeah I feel super safe in Tokyo and at night, compared to Europe and Paris especially but gods! Stalking, domestic violence, rape and things like that are SO overlooked by Japanese forces and police! Ugh, I know nowhere is perfect but that's messed up

It's easy to have low crime stats and good clearance rates if you don't record or report the former and only prosecute slam-dunks (after conditions and treatment in custody which would be illegal in the US and most Western countries) for the latter.

I use to only listen to Mr. Ballen for this kinda stuff, then your channel randomly popped into my recommendation. Ever since then, I’ve been watching and listening to your videos every day. Cheers to 1 million cups of coffee, and cheers to 1 million more! ☕️
Aww I’m so proud of you! I remember when I first started watching you last year and you only had a couple thousand and no monetized videos yet🥺I love seeing you thrive and get that money while also spreading awareness about these peoples stories. ❤️
Your channel has grown soooo quickly. I remember when I found it which was only about two or three weeks after you started. Congratulations 🎊. May your Coffeehouse keep growing and going on for many years.
A huge well done to you Adrian! You're one of the very few youtubers I can listen to and enjoy, you are articulate, have compassion, explain in the perfect amount of detail and are so engaging!
She tryed of lawyer up, but was told that cases in Japan hardly get convictions unless the quilt can be 100 per cent proven and procecurots won't go with her case.
many eastern men actually see western women as cheap and easy. I have seen many eastern women warn western women about that on youtube often.
You can always leave
@@sashakarasawa5794 classic. critiques of a country always result in worms like you crying "JUST LEAVE"
@@sashakarasawa5794 How can you leave a country that you have never been to? Lol
It's such an amazing book! I was about to comment as I really recommend people read it!
Just down loaded to kindle
@@katelinkeeney8903 I live in Chiba and this part of Japan was relevant to this story. I remember that the book made me cry and emotional, but also reminded me to be careful, yet appreciate living. The book is a page turner and I promise you won't forget the experience of reading it. As I said before, the only think I hate about the book is that it's not fiction. You will appreciate the writer and the profession of journalism.
@@missannaliesewill it give me nightmares ?
I love the way you talk about the cases🤘🏼🤩and so respectful towards the victims
Congrats Adrian, well deserved and im so happy you achieved this huge milestone. Looking forward to future episodes
By far one of the most deserving creators to blow up so much in such a short amount of time. Massive congrats!
I love this channel so much, I love watching the crimes that I have never heard of
Especially cases which happened in 2020 or 2021 which sadly the news (especially in the UK) haven’t talked about
I love the old cases too, and what I love the most is you show some of transcripts, body cam footage or evidence found in the video, brings more insight into what these people did
Not to mention you mostly talk about killers which can be hid in plain sight (mostly murderers who were abusers)
Keep going! I love to watch and listen to these :DDDD they are so informative to watch!!!
another tinder swindler suckered in the gold diggers
Your seris has helped me during months of being so sick for months in the hospital. I know you probably won't read this but thankyou so much. You seem like such a nice person. All the best!
I don't think Adrian realizes how good his videos are !! He deserves all the success! Congratulations!
Congrats on a million🎉 I love our new coffee house! Got my coffee ready! Love all of your videos! Thank you for all the hard work you do to get us videos! We love you!
Figured we needed an upgrade!
@@CoffeehouseCrime "WE"..(.as in "I") LOVE OUR NEW COFFEEHOUSE ADRIAN, CONGRATULATIONS BUDDY!! I SEE THE PRICES ARE REASONABLE TOO!! 🤣☕🌹☕🌹☕🌹☕🌹☕🌹☕🌹☕
CONGRATS ON 1 MILLION SUBS! So deserved! 10/10. Keep up the great crime content!
Your voice is so soothing and I could just listen to it nonstop....
I love the comfy atmosphere of talking about crime over coffee. Feels like cops talking about old cases. But also, I kind of wish there wasn't so much murder to talk about.
Yeah, my coffee doesn't seem to taste as good while hearing about all this horror 😳☕
Thanks for the continuous great content.
u clearly work really hard ... you deserve the success
Congratulations on 1M! Love the new Coffeehouse look. Even though these stories are dark, creepy and some just horrible...I really enjoy listening to you tell them. A lot of these stories I had never heard of, so thank you for sharing them. Again, Congratulations on 1M!💜
I am german and I really like how you present these cases. Thank you. You are calm and your choice of words is very good. You deserve 1 million subscrivers.
Well-deserved!
idk how well that would sit with lucy hearing her story was a breath of fresh air to you... maybe you should chat with her dad
We love you Adrian! So proud of all you have accomplished throughout the past couple years!💜
Thank you for taking this case which I remember very well watching it on the news when I was an uni student in Tokyo.
I’m so proud of you for hitting 1 million subscribers! It’s well deserved! I adore you and your videos❤
Congrats on reaching such a huge milestone Adrian. You've worked really hard to get where you are & deserve this & much more.
Congratulations on one million, Adrian! When I joined your channel 12 months ago, I knew you'd go places, but your rise has been insane. I didn't think it would come so soon
Good job, you deserve it! You cover every story so well. The way you tell the victim's stories is both respectful and enthralling!
Congrats on your 1 million. I absolutely love the “renovations”. You deserve all this and more. A wonderful channel!!
Wow! I started a Netflix documentary and knew the story was familiar. I knew about this case because of you. Thank you for all that you do. You’re always my constant for crime and justice.
