I've been blessed with most of my pets living to 15 and up. And yes, it requires high maintenance after a certain age, but we do it with only love. Congratulations to our Tula!!!!!!
My rott-n-lab was 16 last summer. Never had an inoculation after his first set of shots. Gets canned food, kibble is rotated every 2 or 3 days and some kind of real meat every day. I'd take a bullet for this ol' boy. Smartest dog I've ever known and I've had a couple of very smart Dobies.
Thanks for all your advice over the years. ❤ from Tulsa!
😊😘🥰❣🙏.
i had a black lab border collie almost 17 years and i only put him down because he couldnt walk. I gave him good food and did not give him flea or tick meds ever i also spread out his vaccines so far apart. i like every thing dr jones says.
I'm sorry for your loss.♥️
I just had to put down
a great pyrenees a few
weeks ago for the same problem.
Alphie was eighteen, she
lived longer than my other
two great pyrenees.
With no offense meant to anyone but a general question which keeps coming to my mind- "would we put down our human child if he or she was sick"
Or would we put down our sick and ailing old parent?
Are we given this right to put an end to a life who can't speak for himself?
So sorry for your loss of your furbaby may he RIP❤ we do so much for our beautiful furbabies to be here with us but we all have to go home one day ❤💔😭🌹🙏🐾
@@moushumi09Are you stupid or something? Nobody decides for his loved ones, to "put them down". This is illegal.
People can decide, how they want to be treated or not treated in the end of their lifes, by signing according contracts and by writing a lasting power of attorney.
In certain states/countries one can get the deadly medicine ( along strict rules ).
You probably never saw a suffering human in an incurable and intreatable situation .
Or a dog or an animal. ( with you, you'll never have to)
@Koopyspappyplease explain my question with an answer
I have a 15 and a 20+. Because of YOU we have figuresd out the secret of health and longevity. It is weird that both seem to be allergic to chicken and egg products and we avoid at all cost. We have been et and vaccice free for at least 5 years. Any problems You are my first resource. Thank you and God bless you, your family and your furry friends!
My 14 yr old pit/golden cross has never looked his age and people are shocked when they ask. He just started to slow down this year, he can't do super long walks anymore.
I feel the difference is that my dogs get raw meals every other day. I have a large feeder with some basic kibble for them to snack on in between whenever they want. The meat meal almost always contains a can of sardines with a raw protein like ground beef, steak, chicken, egg etc. And he's only been vaccinated with one set of puppy shots way back when I didn't know better. 👍
Blessings to the Jones Family, especially Tula, on her birthday! May there be many more to come!
Great video. I do all this too, but I also SCHEDULE 20/30 MINUTES each day of 'Snugglezone ' time and lay next to her and give her hip, back, paw and back massages while she falls to sleep. It relaxes ME and helps her. Our girl is 12 coming up to 13 in December.❤
My x poodle Maltese rescue dog we've had since He was a puppy turned 19 yesterday..he only eats quality food I make for him..no vaccinations since he was 2 years old..he is neutered and lives with us inside walkies outside often ..yes .he is going blind. he is deaf but he still chases the cat around the house..a quality protien raw diet is everything oh and no Heartworm Rx
Wow! The same age as my Jack Russell terrier. I got her from a dog pound when she was said to be 'roughly 18 months - the pound had dressed her and she's the only dog I've ever had that was dressed. She has cattaracts on one eye and down to 6 teeth but still jumps around like a puppy. My Chihuahua lived 21 yrs and 4 months. I've had dogs all my life on the farm and have never opened a can of dog food for any of them. Meat, raw and cooked and steamed fish. Zero vaccinations and lots of other cats and dogs for companionship. It seems to work! Sending many blessings from Bonny Scotland.
Wow, I have a Maltese mini and now wondering if we should stop vaccinating him.
All VETS could learn from you. You have nailed it Doc, variety in the diet and lifestyle is the key and tons of kisses of course. I've had 21 dogs so far, 10 of them Saints Bernard's. The last 4 years I've been raw feeding, (WOW) what a difference that made, walking 3-4 miles everyday helps them and me stay active!!!
Many Happy Returns, Tula.
My Chihuahua lived a long and healthy life though she lost her eyesight for the last year of her life.
I believe that her long and healthy life was down partly to her diet - human food, both cooked and raw, zero vaccinations, lots of fresh air and exercise, a happy household with a mix of humans and cats and dogs for companionship. My wee girl lived a staggering 21 years and 4 months. The eldest of my remaining four dogs is a crazy Jack Russell Terrier and she is almost 19. I have been dipping in to Dr Jones's channel for tips and hints for the past couple of years and learned so much. Thanks, Dr Jones, your work is tremendous and such a great help. Hope that you and Tula have a wonderful birthday. Many Blessings from Bonny Scotland.
Happy Birthday, Tula. I wish Murray had lived longer. I miss him terribly because he had such a charming personality to me. There was something special about Murray.
I have a 14yo mutt with reoccurring mast cell cancer. She had surgery several years ago and I refused to let the vet operate again. I put her on fenbendazole, dosage per one of your videos. After a month, it wasn't helping and she was going downhill fast. I added Ivomec and within 2 days it was like a miracle. She completely turned around. She is as active as she was 2 years ago. I also started with Cetrizine 10mg/day for the histamines and she gets Vit E and chaga powder on her food. I am also using the poultice you recommended in a recent video on a lesion on her stomach. It seems to be getting smaller. She gets the fenben Mon-Wed and the Ivomec Thur-Sun. Thank you Doctor Jones for all the information you provide and thank you for being a vet that actually CARES about the animals. ❤❤❤
Happy Birthday Tula 🎉
happy birthday Tula! My little yorkie is now 13 w/minor health problems and gets 3 walks w/1 being 40mins to 1hr. So glad to find your channel to learn how to further prolong his life
Happy Birthday cutie pie!
Your awesome, that’s why I have referred hundreds of people to your site as I have been in the medical field all my life And what I have gone through with doctors nowadays unfortunately only care about $$$$& and I have suffered from it! It saddens me. But my hope is that people like you and other Holistic people we have a better world ❤🐶✨❤️💪🙏🏻
I had a vet like that as I discussed above, and they abandoned my dog after a major surgery, gave her no strong pain meds, and did not answer their phone. The owner of the clinic told me after hours they are not responsible for the dog. On a recommendation from a friend, I found a vet who loves animals, not my wallet.
I had an American Eskimo for 17 1/2 years. He rarely saw the vet, hardly ever vaccinated, and ate dry kibble and tablescraps. I use to call myself a bad doggy mom because I didn't keep him up to date with his vaccinations. Now I realize that may have helped his longevity. The vet also saved Dever's life on two separate and unrelated occasions. So here's a toast to Dr. Jones and all the awesome vets out there. :)
Woof woof Tula 🎉❤🐾🐾
Happy Birthday Tula. My Bella is a tiny Pom who was always healthy. She somehow dislocated her shoulder, and had surgery. The vet sent her home the same day, with no pain meds other than Gaba Pentin, and she screamed for hours in pain. There was no way of getting in touch with that vet. On top of that I was not told she needed to be crated, and it took me hours to clean her crate, since she has not used it since she was a pup, and she is now 13 years old. Because of the vets negligence and abandonment of my fur baby, the pin slipped, and she had her leg amputated with a second surgery, where they did give her Tramadol, and I set my alarm for every 2 hours since that was what they told me to do to give it to her. I am wondering from the ordeal she was put through by a cold, cruel vet, and the horror story the night of the first surgery, where she screamed in pain for hours, and flitted about, will her life be shorter. I am not bragging but the 4 1/2 pound fur baby is the smartest, sweetest, best behaved little dog on planet earth. I do not know how she got hurt that bad, and now I do not let her sleep with me in bed, for fear she will get hurt if she jumps off. Bella is not a complaining dog, so for her to scream in pain after the first surgery, and to be abandoned by the vet, was traumatic for both of us. She was never abused before seeing that vet. She is my 4th dog, and I have never had such a mean vet take care of any of my dogs in my life. I pulled her away from that horrible vet clinic, and now have a great vet I trust. He values the dog more than my wallet. I went into serious debt for her surgery, and do not even know how I am going to pay it back, since I am a senior citizen living on a small fixed income. The vet that abandoned her after the surgery would not even consider lowering the bill. They charged me $200.00 for an antibiotic shot, and another $200.00 for a shot I am sure they never gave her, that was supposed to make sure she had no pain after the surgery. I am so worried about her, since she only now has 3 legs, exercise is out of the question. I am so afraid she will get hurt again. Please let me know if this horror story shortened her life. She is such a wonderful dog, I cannot picture life without her. She is perfect, almost never even has an accident in the house, had only 2 accidents after her 2 surgeries.
❤❤🙏 sending positive vibes and prayers to you and your fur baby..❤
I’m sure all the love you give her will keep her strong. I have a tiny Pomeranian as well & she is the gutsiest little dog I’ve ever owned. Maybe get her a little animal pushchair so you can still take her out so she has that mental stimulation which is so important to them? If she is managing on three legs then she’s a fighter she will be fine ❤❤
PS : I lost faith in vets a long time ago now. If they really loved animals why do they make it so hard for people to afford to take their sick pets to them, that is my stance now 😤 Best wishes from New Zealand 🇳🇿🇳🇿
So sad. Happy you got a good vet now.
Law suit
Happy Birthday to you Tula!
My boy is going to be 13 soon. He’s a 60 pound standard poodle. Vaccines are very limited, a few rabies shots and some other shots. His diet is Arcana and raw hamburger, cooked pork, and a lot of Chewy & Stellas dehydrated treats. Other than a few ear infections when young he never saw a vet, only the shot clinics, until he was neutered at 10 (a big mistake). We spent at least 5 hours per day at dog parks, the beach, on trails, of him running on leash tied to my trike and catching Chuck-It balls on the bounce over 200,000 times (conservative estimate). It kills me now that he has slowed down drastically and no longer the super athlete alpha dog of his youth.
His daughter, which is three and a silver black and white parti is nothing like him but makes me take her out no less than three to five times per day. At least she inherited that gene from him, to stare me down until I take her in the car. She eats a good protein rich diet and nutrient rich treats and loves to run at the dog park. Hopefully she too will be healthy without any issues. My boy goes with us but no longer can run, is going blind, and is declining. As long as he is pain free he can be the old guy at the dog park that wanders around in his own world. Somewhat like me. My vet bills were low, my food bill for my boy over the years was high but worth it.
Happy birthday cute lady 🎉
We have a Beagle, 15 years and 8 months old. Fit and active until now. Since he lost most of his teeth, I’m preparing fresh food for him. Protein, vegetables and quinoa. … daily fruits, some CBD and definitely no vaccines since he is 10.! One time per year we see a cardiologist and he is always wondering about his age. I just can support your ideas. Thanks for all your information!
The groomer wanted an updated rabies vaccine certificate to groom my dog who was 14. I talked to animal control and they told me I could get an exemption for the certificate if there was a medical issue. My Davis had a heart murmur. I told the vet (Banfield) what animal control said. The vet would not give me an exemption, because they said it was illegal to do so unless my pet had a medical issue. Hmmmm. I told the vet he has a heart murmur, which they diagnosed, so I believe that qualifies. They said no. Called a vet close to my house, and I was told that heart murmur would be considered an exemption. Unfortunately, my Davis passed shortly after that. I will never vaccinate again.
You pet passed from the vaccination?@@keshamico1
@@keshamico1 I‘m very sorry. Isn’t easy to find a non profit fixed medical stuff this time.

Happy birthday sweet Tula! I wish you a long happy healthy life!
Balanced home made food, no chemicals, small amounts of grains, no unnecessary vaccines, no fleas and ticks repellents, and my dog is pretty healthy for being almost 16 yo. Just some arthritis, but turmeric is amazing!
Homemade turmeric you give
How you manage without ticks repellents? Here so many dogs get babesiosis if they get bitten by a tick. I give my dog a tablet against ticks for summer period even though I am worried of these chemicals…
@@kisutis I always spray his coat with a mix of essential oils, he had never had a tick. You can find more info about the mix on this channel. I hope it will work for your dog too.

Roxy has done very well with your product. She is no longer limping. She is walking further than she was. She has also lost 2 lbs, which probably helped as well. She turned 11 in April. Thank you for all your great information. ❤
Happy 12th Birthday sweet girl 💞Tula💞
I just lost my pit bull MAXX Oct 18th 2023.. He was 17. My other 3 miss him, look for him , sniff around his kennel. The whole energy in our house is different. His presence is sorely missed. He was lucid, not incontinent, mobile, he could see, his hearing was going but he was doing great then he was lying in the sun napping and never woke up. 😢 he's never had veternary issues. Sweet boy. Although he was a fierce dog in his day. Onlybever gotbalong with my girl Puppy. They have been together all of her 14 years and she's lost without him. So sad💔

As a GSD owner and lover of, I believe in exercise, too and I believe in both on and OFF leash exercise. I LOVE taking my current sweetheart into the woods for an hour or more daily - in every type of weather. I have a Very social, happy, playful, love everybody 14 month old. My greatest issue is the problems I have with other people who hate, call the police or by-law, yell, swear and react in every way - 'pepper sprayed a month ago, baited at home behind the fence, kicked in the head because the other guy couldn't control HIS dog - my dog at 4 months was playing with HIS dog and didn't have recall so in order for them to stop playing he kicked mine - the police did nothing..because I've probably had 8 complaints over the years, the last cop told me - "you have a track record of people calling about you and 'your dog of leash" because he is so friendly he likes to say hello and he's usually off leash ( But never on urban sidewalks) Why is there just a big deal about off-leash dogs and why are people SO AGAINST GSD????? Help?? My late sweetie was a registered Therapy Dog! Calm, wonderful and loyal. My GSD now doesn't have a mean bone in his body according to our vet. What is the problem with walking , and minding my own business with my GSD off leash? I don't complain about anyone - ever. Anyway, how can we 'change peoples' perceptions about off-leash walking in areas away from traffic??????? Luckily we found an abandoned quarry very close by - probably about 75 acres of field and pond where my boy runs to his heart's content and where we're not bothered. Thank you as always for posting your tips, some of which I certainly follow and some I'm financially unable to ( I'm a senior on a fixed income..) Dr. Jones, you are terrific as well as unequalled in your integrity and honesty ☺🤗 Happy Birthday to Tula!!!!❤🎉
Put your dog on a leash unless you're on fenced, private property. Allowing your dog to approach a strange dog that's on a leash, could potentially put yours in danger if the other dog is reactive or aggressive. It's not worth risking the safety of yours. Also, you have to remember that some people are actually afraid of dogs. I don't get it either, but you have to respect that, once again, for your dog's safety. GSDs unfortunately were deemed "aggressive/dangerous" years ago just like pits are now. All because of stupid people. I'm on your side, I have a GSD and she is my life. But you have to follow leash laws and be an advocate for your dog. If you aren't in a private, fenced area, keep your dog on a leash. It's for their protection
@@winechick6 Thank you. You ARE right but sometimes it actually helps 'support" what ought to be the thought" by hearing it from someone else. Thank you. I'm hoping to 'find" a small group of people who enjoy occasional "pack" walks. That way my GSD can have some positive relationships without me being worried about negative outcomes!
If you live close to a larger city, there might be a GS club in your area. You can also contact a professional trainer. If you can perfect your dog's recall skills, you won't have to worry about him approaching the wrong person. Even with that, I would definitely use a leash in public areas. It sounds like the police have decided that your dog is a nuisance so be careful. You don't want your dog to get shot out of "self defense"... see where I'm going? Keep your dog safe! Good luck to you both 😊
@@winechick6 Thank you for your really great reply! I appreciate you sharing your wisdom with me.

Happiest Birthday, Tula!! She is so darn cute and happy!!
My Nala is turning 12 next month, and she is also in (mostly) great health! The only issue we are having at the moment is her environmental allergies (husky labrador mix) and compromised mammary gland that developed into a large lump that is weeping and bleeding on/off. It's not cancerous and not a mammary tumor, per aspiration, cytology, and culture test. Surgery is recommended, but they want it to flatten first... which is not happening. I'm looking into alternative care aside from surgery. (Dr. Jones, have you heard of sodium chloride as an alternative procedure to reduce lump size? If so, can you discuss it?)I wish it would just go away already! Aside from that, she is on the same exact path as Tula! Wishing her many more happy and healthy years ahead! ❤️
Happy Birthday Tula ♥️🎈🥳

Happy Birthday, Tula!!! You are one lucky dog to have Dr. Jones as your daddy. My girl is 14 yrs. old. I've been cooking for her for 13 years, but she is getting near her end of life. She's my best four-legged friend ever. It will be sad when she leaves us, but my husband says she will be scouting ahead of us, like she does here on our former off leash walks. Thanks Doc for the wealth of information you give us. I wish vets were allowed to practice medicine as they wish. They only prescribe meds or surgery for everything.
Happy Birthday Tula.

My 1st chihuahua passed away at 18.5 years old and my 2nd chihuahua that is still with me is 15 and both have had very little vet visits. Feeding both fish and
chicken meat and acana dog food for the age.
Hello Gwen. I've just left a comment telling about my old Chihuahua, Katie, who lived until 21 years and 4 months. We lost her last may. She only was fed human and raw food and not one vaccination in her life. When she passed away she'd only three teeth left and her eyesight had been gone for roughly a year - not total blindness, but I guess she still could see shadows as she had cattarcts. They are a great breed and if I wasn't quite so old myself, I'd have another. Sadly, if I got one now, she'd no doubt outlive me and that wouldn't be right, in my opinion. My other dogs are between 19 ( a Jack Russell) and almost two year old Romanian rescued dog who looks to be a Dalmation x Pointer. I've a 7 yr old Border Collie and a 5 year old Australian Kelpie. Quite a mix. They are all human food eaters and I go through roast chicken like mad! The oven is never off between the chicken and their biscuits. Just an aside - I have never bred any of my girls nor has them dressed. Perhaps that helps prolong their lives? Well Gwen, it's been nice to chat with you. Do give your 15 year old a Scottish bozie (a cuddle) from me. God Bless.
@@chelamcguire Hey you sound like a very loving person. I see my dogs as family so I will do anything I can. Just like you. I believe they give as so much more then we can give them. I would love to get one more chihuahua however I am not a very well person. And like you I think it would be unfair .
I never breed my. Thank you for sharing your lovely memories with me. Take care keep safe and blessings 🐕
