So first, an apology. It would seem most people who came to this video were looking for differences between Catholics and Protestant Christians. I've now made a video addressing that very question. It's a bit longer, and goes through history, earthly organisation, and beliefs. Check it out on my channel, or click the links I've embedded in this video.

I thought Catholics were related to Holy roman empire who killed Jesus and as christianity was spreading widely converted to christianity on their own terms to rule the new religon.

The Holy Roman Empire was founded in 800 AD. The “Catholic” or “universal” church was founded by Jesus upon St. Peter. Jesus was killed by the pagan Roman Empire and Peter was killed in Rome on Vatican hill in the 60s AD. His successors reign till the present day from that spot.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CATHOLIC AND CHRISTIAN - ---a Christian is one who adheres to Christ as Lord and Saviour and believes in the Bible the Word of God sola scriptura that he is saved by grace through faith in Christ's blood atonement for the forgiveness of his sins as doctrine of salvation, while a Catholic is one who adheres to the Roman Catholic church and the Pope for his doctrine of salvation, and not on the Bible. not by faith alone but by faith and works , and there is no assurance of salvation, he has to wait until judgment day or go to purgatory after death to know his fate or destiny. in other words, for a Catholic, salvation is an ambiguous term, there is no clearcut definition, because it depends on what the Pope says. not on the Bible the Word of God, as faith cometh by hearing the word ofGod. Some Protestants are not baptized correctly ..eg asked to believe that Jesus is their savior only.... This is not a correct form of baptism and therefore in this example, they are not Christians. Being a Christian is somewhat of an objective standard.

This is confusing belonging to a Religion with being a Christian, it is possible to be a Christian and not belong to any organised religion and belonging to any Christian religion does not automatically make you a Christian. One has to acknowledge that Jesus is the Son of God, he died to atone for our sins and rose from the dead in order to do this and thereby fulfilling the prophecies in the Old Testament. and thus save mankind from the sin of Adam and Eve. This is what he meant when he cried 'It is finished' as he died on the cross. Jesus had done the work God had sent him to do. God and man were able to be truly reconciled if man accepted Jesus and his teaching and lived by this.
It is by the Grace of God that we are saved from eternal damnation and that salvation will only be achieved by accepting Jesus into our lives and living accordingly. Keeping rules, either those laid down in the Bible or decreed by Church hierarchy will not make a whit of difference to salvation if you do not accept Jesus into your heart, look at the parable of the rich young man.

being in germany, being catholic or lutheran can be more concrete in the fact of church taxes and of course, registration. To be a member of these two organizations, there is taxes to be paid and formal registration.
The truth of the matter when we point out the problems with catholicism or even with protestantism, we really do not find differences. We find maybe reasons we are not one or the other. For someone who does not want to part of either, can use these points.
The burden of being catholic should rest on the catholic and not on the christian. christ did not call us to follow the catholic or the protestants. He called us to follow him. In these various organizations, there are distinctions that may work to help follow him. In certain countries as a missionary, it helps to be under one of these organizations to avoid being point out as being a sect.
I think the ball is in the catholics side of the court and it should be there. simple, not all christians are catholic. All catholics "should be" christians. Try talking to some catholics about jesus and see if you get a rise of hatred.

This is one of the worst explanations. Catholics are not Christians as Christians are followers of Christ. Catholics follow the Catholic Church which their dogma is different. We have difference bibles. Christians do not pray to Mary or to the saints. We do not pray for the dead as because they are with Christ. We do not have Christ on the cross because he DEFEATED the cross (death). We do not have priests forgive us of our sins because Christ does. Christians are born again and are spirit filled. Catholics are not. They are a religion and Christians have a relationship with Christ. There are HUGE differences between us.

    • @todd1936
      @todd1936 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Wolfyxses I believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God meaning God breathed. Your right and the Bible says that there are only two paths in eternity.
One is eternity separation with God and the other is in His presence. When Jesus said you must be born again in the gospel of John he’s speaking of a spiritual rebirth. So how does this happen? Very simple, the Bible says you confess with you mouth and believe in heart that Jesus did and said who He was and “you will be saved.” Not might!
This is in Romans chapter 10 and I would encourage you to read it. Also being a catholic growing up I new nothing about salvation through faith, just religion. Having a relationship with Jesus Christ and being a Christian has nothing to do with works. It is a heart regeneration. As a Christian I’m saved by grace through faith, it is a gift of God lest anyone should boast. So I encouraged you pray ask God to reveal who He truly is and ask Jesus to be the Lord of your life by faith. Blessings!

im confused beacause if every catholic is a christian and believes in the bible is the word of god, then why do catholics pray to saints (mary, apostle etc) if in the bible is says that you can only pray to god and he is the only one that can hear you?

Firstly for starters Catholics believe that the word of God is not just written down in the Bible but also passed down orally. We also have 7 more books, and the Bible never says that you can ONLY pray to God and that you can never pray to saints. In the book of revelations the saints bring in our prayers to the lord.

No need to apologise Matt, some here have said that these are basically different labels, which is a great point. The bible itself says that the word Christian was first used in Antioch (acts 11:26). Antioch was an ancient city of the Roman Empire which is a good 300 miles or so north of the Holy Land,in what is now Turkey. It actually never occurred to me until the other day that the word Christian is not found anywhere else in the Bible apart from twice in Acts and 1 Peter 4:16 Even Paul never went around saying "I'm a Christian! Are you??". He called himself a Follower of the Way according to Acts 24:14. In Paul's letters he will address the people as Believers or Brothers or as simply the Church of God,but he doesn't use the word Christian anywhere! Interesting stuff

Christians believe that Jesus Christ, who is God, died on the cross for our sins (because God loved the world so much) , and He rose from the grave after 3 days.
We believe that the bible is the Word of God.
We believe that Christ Jesus is the only way to God, our Lord.

I can think of a ton of differences between Catholics and Christians...
Catholics pray to mary, angles, Jesus, god, and saints. Plus they follow the pope. Also they allow women to be nuns and make vows to never get married and spend their whole life devoted to god and prayer. Catholics also pray with a rosary I don’t combine my hands that often unless its the regular our father.
    Christians pray only to god.
Christians blaim Roman Catholics for killing jesus
Roman Catholics blaim the jews for killing jesus.
Guess its a big difference when you type it all out.

  • @idsjesus73

Respectfully I beg to differ from your definition of being a Christian. To be considered a Christian it is not enough to only belief that Jesus Christ is the son of GOD and that the Holy Bible is the word of GOD as per your definition. In addition to that, one MUST belief that Jesus Christ is GOD, that HE died on the Cross and on the 3rd day, HE resurrected physically. One must belief on all of these with no exception, in order to be considered a Christian.
Your explanation of Christianity is good. The one I use to explain to some, is this :
Imagine Christianity being a Tree with many branches. Well, Catholicism is one branch, protestant another branch, orthodox another branch, baptist another branch, Anglican another branch and so on. All of them belonging to the same tree of Christianity and all of them believing in all of those tenets described above.
The early Church was originally Catholic (meaning universal) only, until the reformation by Martin Luther in early 16th century which split the Christian Church into two branches, the original Catholic and the newly formed Protestant. From then on, the Catholic Church remained mainly unchanged to this day, and the Protestant Church has split further and further and further to around 47.000 denominations and counting, according to the "Center for global Christianity at Gordon - Cornwell Theological Seminary" , which is an evangelical Protestant institution.

I disagree with this assessment about the definition of a Christian. My comment is not meant to be disrespectful. True Christianity is NOT a religion. Many people call themselves Christians when they truly are not. The root of Christianity is in the shed blood, death, and burial of Jesus Christ, who is the ONLY Son of God AND the only true living Savior for the souls of mankind. He is the only one to have risen from His grave, defeating death and the grave. Here is where people are lost. God says in His word that life is in the blood. Jesus Christ, who is without sin, holy and just, took on all our sin on Himself through the shedding of His blood through His scourging and death on the cross. He became the final sacrifice for sin. Salvation comes through the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His death and resurrection. It’s by His shed blood that sin is forgiven. The last words of Jesus Christ on the cross was “ It Is Finished “ interpreted “ Paid In Full”. Jesus Christ Alone is the ONLY true living Savior AND the ONLY Way To Heaven. Eternal Life Is Only Gifted Through Faith And Trust WITH Obedience To HIS Holy Word and NO Other. Repentance (Turning Away From Sin), Confession By Mouth, Redemption AND Assurance Of Eternal Life,Can Only Be Given Through Jesus Christ and NO Other. There Are No Compromises In True Christianity. A Real Change And An Actual Conversion Takes Place In A True Believer. Christianity Is Not Based On Any Church Or Self Beliefs. It’s Based On The Word Of God And In The Shed Blood, Death, Burial, And Resurrection Of Jesus Christ, The Only True Living Savior, The One True Son Of God. Christianity Is A Personal Relationship With Jesus Christ. It’s NOT A Religion, it’s NOT An Affiliation With A Church, It’s NOT A Religious Organization Or High Esteemed Religious Rulers, Priests, Prophets, Preachers, Pastors, etc. His Holy Word Is God’s Authority. A True Church Follows AND Teaches/ Preaches The Truth Of God’s Word. The Word Of God Teaches The Believer, Not The Other Way Around. Christianity Is Personal. Jesus Christ Is A Personal Savior. Christianity Is A Personal Relationship With God, The Father Through His Son, Jesus Christ because He Sacrificed Himself As The Final Sacrifice In That Cross, The Altar Of God, The Father. “ For God So Loved The World, That He Gave His Only Begotten Son, That Whosoever Believeth In Him Will Not Perish, But Have Everlasting Life.” - John 3:16. kJV. This Is The Gospel. “In The Beginning Was The Word And The Word Was God And The Word Was With God.” -. John1:1 Read On Through Verse 5. Jesus Christ IS The Word Of God ! There Is NO Other Word Of God Other Than The Word Of Jesus Christ, Son Of The One True God. The God Of Abraham, Isaac, And Jacob. I Know My Narrative Is Long, But I Felt It Necessary To Explain Fully My Whole Stand And Reason For My Disagreement With Your Definition Of Christianity. Many People Have Been Deceived Because They Don’t Read And Know Their Own Bibles. They Have Depended On Their Church And Church Leaders Who Have Deceived Them All. God’s Word Says Very Few Will Follow And Obey God’s Ways, Which Leads To Eternal Hell/ Damnation. Jesus Says In His Word That He Will Tell Them, “ Depart From Me, For I Never Knew You.” And They Will Be Cast Unto Total Darkness Where There Will Be The Gnashing Of Teeth. It’s So Sad To Comprehend, But God Is A Just And Fair God And Is Merciful To Those Who Have Placed Their Faith And Trust In Him. I Am Bot God. I Am Nothing. I Am Only Relating His Word And His Truth. Who Are We To Question Or To Argue/ Debate God And His Ways?? We Loose Every Time. He Is The Final Judge And There Is No Escape From His Final Judgment. I Pray And Share With People Almost Everyday To Get The Truth To As Many People As I Possibly Can. God Is Real. Jesus Christ Is Real. Heaven Is Real HELL Is Real. God Is The Almighty Great “ I Am” And His Final Judgement Is Severe And Devastating For Eternity For Those Who Refuse Him And Disobey Him And Rebel Against Him And Disbelieve And Reject His Son Jesus Christ. I Pray People Come To Him. Come As You Are And He Will Receive You Unto His Own. The Lord Bless All Who Have The Heart To Receive His Truth. Amen❤✝️📖🙏

Your definition of a Christian is wrong. Even the demons in hell then, would be according to your definition, be Christians because they also believe in Jesus and that the Bible is the true word of God. "You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that-and shudder." - James 2:19. Satan would then also be a Christian. So obviously that is not the definition of a Christian.

Since Catholicism is a conglomerate of ancient pagan religions disguised in the robes of Christianity, I'm going to disagree with your assertion Catholics are Christians. A person simply confessing Jesus asthe Christ, the Son of God, is not enough when said person follows his own path outside Lord Jesus and his apostles' teachings in the biblical text.
Remember, Jesus said many in that day will say, "Lord, Lord, didn't I prophecy in your name and cast out demons." (Matt 7:22) Claiming Christ and following one's own path is not the same as claiming Christ and following his path.

The cross (the pagan cross, the plus-sign looking symbol (+)) is the oldest pagan symbol on the planet.
The six thousand year-old man found in the Alps (Otzi) had a tattoo of one on the posterior of his right knee. So, we know it's at least five to six thousand years old.
In 300 AD, the early Catholic Church adopted the cross as a religious symbol It's the same symbol the pope wears on his clothing, especially during the Mass of the Holy Sacrifice on Christmas Eve.
If Catholicism is not pagan, why adopt such an ancient pagan icon?
Moreover, why to the Mexican/Indian/Catholic Americans in the American Southwest continue the pagan practice of placing candles in caves and rock clefts? You can see such a thing in a cave off on RT 82, the road from Nogales, AZ, to Whetstone. This cave has dozens of candles in the clefts, surrounding a statue of Mary (I believe it's Mary). This reveals a combining of Christianity and paganism, aka, Catholicism.
And, again, near Dragoon, AZ, at the Texas Canyon rest stop (east bound side), the monolithic rock next to the rest rooms always has a number of these candles in the clefts.
Paganism is anathema to Christianity. Since Catholicism embraces such practices, then it, by definition, is a pagan religion disguising itself in the robes of Christianity. Catholicism is the Christianity as a bowl of salt is to a bowl of sugar. They look the same on the surface, but the taste test tells the difference. Save yourself from eternal damnation. Reject paganism, yes, reject it and anything associated with it to save your very soul.
