A Protestant (Lutheran) could tell he is Catholic. It's obvious because he doesn't know much about Lutheranism, its people, beliefs, or organizational structure.

@@flash2tz And also that he represents the church splits as orthodox and protestants breaking away from the continuous line of the catholic church. And that he thinks that their teachings about good works make them build more hospitals. I have no idea if that´s actually the case, especially in proportion, but it was kind of transparent that he wanted to make the RCC seem better.
I think the video was good, I learned a lot, but it was certainly not unbiased.

I agree, it is the devil that separates us. Myself, I go to Catholic Mass for communion where the Holy Spirit is present strongly in the communion. I also listen to some of the better Protestant Bible teachers. We are all Christians and are going to the same place through Jesus Christ. Let’s truly love our brothers and sisters.

One of the things I have a problem with Catholicism is the corruption of the pope and also works are a byproduct of faith, the thief on the cross went to heaven but didn’t hav the works. He did with faith alone and Jesus had told him he will be in heaven with him soon. I might be non denominational but I’m still Protestant and believe the same believe as Catholics, I’ve just seen corruption from the “head” of the church and also I’m not gonna pray to anyone besides the one and only lord, no human or “Saint” can save me or forgive me beside God

It's impossible to talk about religion - about most things, actually - without bias. The fact tha you and I agree with his bias does not make him unbiaseed. The danger o considering religious opinions unbiased is it creates "the true opinion". Even a benign opinion, if considered to be the true one, can clash with other opinions. Muslims, for instance, consider Christians and Jews as sharing the same background and call for a special respect towards them (us) - and that can clash with the idea that Christians share the same backtround. The only truth us Christians should hold is "love your neighbor as you love thyself". (remember that neighbor is not your actual neighbor but all those next to you and in the 21st century that means around 8 billion people)

    Great video. Thank you.
I would like to add that there are a lot of Protestants who also believe that faith without works is dead. The difference is however that we say that it's not faith plus works but this actually means that you are still saved solely based on faith alone. Real faith, however, will produce works automatically because your heart will be transformed by the Holy Spirit and His fruits will show themselves in a change of your attitudes because of your faith. In the sense of "I can love because He first love me and I can forgive because He forgave me first". It might seem like a minor detail but for me it's makes a big difference because the works do not come from me in order to be saved, but they come from God through me because I am already saved.

The biggest difference is the Catholic Church persecuted, tortured and killed christians that disagreed on matters of transubstantiation, praying to Mary, Purgatory etc... I mean they excommunicated Columbus for saying the world was round ... Though, they did by papal degree, reinstated him in 1992... very nice of them some 500 years later Though they did not apologize for their error... And this is the problem, no so much the doctrine, but how they behave about their doctrine... You know torturing, killing, burning at the stake people that did not adhere do their doctrine, is where I have a huge problem with the history of the Catholic Church... And they never have apologized this is a problem for the Catholic church, if they did, the Catholic Church would be admitting that they are wrong....and whenever they have ever done that?😳

At at time in this world when world leaders and politicians would have us believe there are more differences between our brothers and sisters than similarities, and at a time when an educational video such as yours can engender such nasty, petty comments, none of which I hope you have taken to heart, by those so keen to demonstrate their ‘knowledge’ of differences that divide us all, you are a light, and a beacon my friend. Kc.114:14 There is baptism when there is a prophet messenger on earth, and the prophet messengers are the manifestation of God, that is why their books are the Word of God. The prophet messenger is God manifested on earth. Amen! There is the Father, Who is, God manifested above us, the son, who is, God manifested in the person of the prophet messenger among us and the Holy Spirit, God as a Spirit in us.[Ed: The congregation says, Amen]. Bear in mind that the Son of God and the son of man, it is like the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heavens. They are two faces of the same thing. For the elect, John 3:16 will always be alive from generation unto generation till He comes. In every generation, God has always sent on earth, a saviour by whom we are to be saved. When Noah was sent on earth, it was as the only son of God! When Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Amos… were sent on earth, each of them came in his time as the only-begotten son of God so that whoever believes in them has eternal Life. This is the exact truth!

But it's somewhat like what 1st Corinthians 13 talks about with love and how true love is God's love as He is love as it/He says in the good Ole Word that's Living and Nourishment for our souls as He Intended and Intends good with and for and in us as we Need to be in Him our Father in Heaven together United the Church through His Precious and Almighty Son Jesus Christ, not waver or forfeit, I'm tired of wavering and just settling and "living" with the lies and bad silence and not being open as I should but instead settling for the bad and lies of the past mistakes and Satan whispering that we'll never be good enough as he always tries to until God will Destroy his tongue and silences him, as God Wants and does good as He is good and Loves us Unconditionally and Gave us the Gift of Life and Free Will so we wouldn't be robots and the Walk would be more and actually fully personal and worth it and possible as He Makes possible and through and with Him, we're "fearfully and wonderfully made" part of Psalms 139:11-16, He's Wanting and Making the Best, to have more faith and Stand Strong to and with Him in True and His Truth and Love and Life and Light, He is the Only Way Almighty and Everlasting, and I know that there is alot of differences out there, but I believe we can do Abounding things with God as He Intended Plans and Wants it and to and as He is Abounding and Wants the truth and good to be done, to not waver but Stand Firm to and with Him our Firm Foundation and Truth in Love, not an act or game we play or be lukewarm since that is a dishonor to God as we are Intended be His Children and Created in His Image for a good Purpose to Overcome through Him this corrupted world that He so Graciously is still somehow Making Beautiful and Wonderful, But this is Not Home truely, oh I can only Imagine what a Day that will be! I Hope to see you all and everyone in this group chatting thingy mabob Up There Rejoicing and at the Great Feast, to not fear but be Ready in His good Way, keep doing good and join me as God is Helping us all along together and Wanting the Best, I love you all, as God so Graciously has Given me and Calls for True Love, True Faith. Some other Scriptures that i was reading recently and also stuck out in my Bible as Words to Treasure were James 1:22 talking about having real faith and Living for God our All and All as He is our Example Truely, and then also 2nd Corinthians 7:1. Take care and prayers and love and action all around, Abounding good that is and to be done with and to and by and through Him. But I feel he was getting at if we have a real faith as he said then good works for and with and by and in God will follow and happen aswell and it will be true, i think the key word is "real", but also about that scripture i talked about earlier but never listed before i got on that long process and train of thought of mine that i often do, but to be United in love and truth and even the good differences and to bear with eachother as i read also in the Bible somewhere in the New Testament either Jesus or one of His followers/ the Disciples or Apostles said it through and by God, as He is with and For us Never against us; but also to have Compassion and act upon what God Wants. But that scripture about how God is love, it was in 1st John 4:7-12. There's so much as He is good, Living, Loving and Abounding, He is bringing us Home and making us Complete All in His Time and Way that's Best, just to be open and willing and make truely meaningful. With Love

The passage being referred to says… Faith without works is dead. It doesn’t say… Salvation without works is dead‼️ The works being referred to are works of the spirit, as in love your fellow man. They are not referring to Works of man-made rituals. If you truly have faith, the works will show, automatically, you won’t even be able to help it. If there are no works, and I mean works of the spirit, then there was no faith in the first place. So it all goes back to the truth... Faith alone in Jesus Christ is what saves you, and there are a multitude of passages to confirm that. It is not possible to truly believe in Jesus Christ, and the amazing gift he gave to us, and not want to please him. Most Catholics believe that the works are the most important thing, and that what the works don’t complete, purgatory will finish off. Very bad doctrine

As a Protestant, on #3 you missed the mark on the doctrine of justification. Every protestant confession taught that true faith is followed by works. In fact, John Calvin was the first commentator to begin using 1 John as a series of tests of faith, to prove a professing Christians faith as genuine by his works. Otherwise I wholeheartedly agree we have a lot more in common than usually is thought!
The difference of the doctrine of justification really lies in the intermediaries and sacramental merit. We wholeheartedly disagree that there is any saving merit except faith alone, we hold that our merit and righteousness is from our union with Christ alone, of which the Roman tradition is at variance with us on an individuals acquirement of that union in more ways than one. We especially distinctly hold that it is an entirely alien and foreign righteousness that we now possess by faith. Works being the evidence and fruit of faiths reality or existence. Especially of divergence in Roman tradition, is that works gain merit and establish a kind of righteousness on its own. Not enough space to expound on that. Just as a hard and fast example of these distinctions, we hold that 1 Peter 3:21 is symbolic and at the very least speaking of the baptism which Christ baptizes with, a baptism in the spirit that brings us into union with Christ. "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit." 1 Corinthians 12:13 / Matt. 3:11 -- Otherwise, if Peter is speaking about water baptism, we have serious internal contradictions in the New Testament Apostles of which this isn't the space to expand on that either.
Additionally we as protestants never left the Roman Church due to these other doctrines he mentioned, but it was primarily Sola Scriptura which bore the fruit of the doctrine of justification and this was truly the fulcrum of the early reformers issue with the Roman Church. They recognized that the appeal to scripture was not sufficient to establish the doctrine of justification they had discovered there, and these early reformers simply could not with a clear conscience confess and teach differently. Therefore, the eventual excommunication and split. And to meet this fullness of time, the recent advent of the printing press allowed the writings of Luther to spread throughout all of Europe. Thus, an exodus from within the church took place.
Finally, the very name coined "Reformation" proves also that these early men who were split from the Roman church believed they were re-establishing what had been the true church from the days of the Apostles. I understand the disputes and controversies, yet the protestant in me demands that our true doctrinal positions aren't misrepresented. There would have never been a reformation had there not been excommunication of Luther, of whom this "30%-50%" of the Catholic Church found his statements convincing and faithful to the word of God. With his excommunication, followed the excommunication of all who believed his initial statements and explanations. And of those who didn't participate in Luther's excommunication, their were many influenced by Luther's writing to reform the church while remaining within the Roman Church--thus, the counter reformation became a positive turning point for the Roman Catholics.

Rejection passed through the ages... yeah rather then face reality they choose to reject it, many protestants still feel rejected because of the traditions.. I honestly see a middle ground here where the 2 can work together and help each other. I think Christians should be given sanctuary in a catholic church for confession and catholics can share wisdom at protestant churches, faith and works are both necessary but complacency is a human sin not a sin against God. Also many of the old guard reject the church in general because they were unfortunately misjudged and felt rejected. I know their's common ground here but sometimes their are stubbornness and we can't change people.

Why do you think Catholics say the this every Sunday?
      Nicene Creed
      I believe in one God,
      the Father almighty,
      maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
      true God from true God,
      begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
      he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
      and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
      in accordance with the Scriptures.
      He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead

@@merynco well said. The question then becomes what is baptism? The Greek word baptizo literally means to immerse, bury, plunge, or dip. Every example of baptism performed in the NT is done once one comes to believe that Jesus is the son of God as you have stated. In Romans 6 Paul says it is by being baptized that we participate in Jesus's death, burial, and resurrection. Sprinkling is not a burial, only immersion is and infants are not able to reason and thus believe. So sprinkling water on an infant is not baptism as performed in Scripture. Only the immersion or burial in water of someone who is old enough to believe and confess Jesus to be the son of God is able to be truly baptized and have their sins washed away (Acts 22:16).

@Ian there will never be heaven on earth by our efforts. / mans innate desire to sin will see to that. / why do you think we need redemption? / we can only be saved if we are lost. / our faith is a gift from God, so to thank him for that grace is not selfish. / works are a fruit of that grace and a response shared toward others. / no where does it say in scripture, either by the words of Christ himself, or in the didactic portions of the apostles, that we are to make heaven on earth. / we are to share the love of Christ, in its many manifestations with others.... and that is as close as we will ever come to heaven on earth, which is a long way off from eternity with the Holy, Eternal, Sovereign God.

@Ian where do i begin?? / what your describing, as well as the ethereal diatribe from pierre, is nothing more than humanism at its most common. / to think that we will become our own Christ...our own messiah is so self-based, why bother bringing God or heaven into the conversation? / most faiths are based on spiritual elements, evidentiary history and written affirmations. / that does not include poetic license in a quote that has no real substance. / the pipe dream of future human perfection is absolute nonsense as has been displayed so overwhelmingly in our own human history. / ethereal quotes and well intentioned philosophers have been around for thousands of years and what is offered has never come to fruition because man is incapable of perfection. / that's why, as traditional as it may sound, a redeemer is needed to bridge the gap, not from man to god, but from God to man. / the great "somewhere" that pierre so readily objectifies is truly more illusionary than anything the bible can be accused of. / as far as the bible...though it has been abused, misused, skewed in all manner, is actually a remarkably accurate and incredibly profound record of the human condition...and its remedy. /after years of study in most of the worlds faiths and religions, i have seen without doubt the validity of its wisdom and the honesty of its truths. / i am sticking with it and refraining from dependent hope on hopeless man. // thanks.

@Ian I take the parts of the Bible literally that are clearly meant to be ,others are not. Such as the symbolism of Revelation. .I am not at the early stages of development ..If you look at the last century apart from the sudden increase in knowledge ,which the Bible prophesied, how has man developed as a being .He is no more intelligent ,just as violent and left to his own way will soon destroy the planet. He has produced atomic power which he cannot control .The Japanese disaster is constantly pumping out radio active water which is killing the life of the Pacific. With dead fish being washed up on the American coast. There is no sign of anything positive in the future. .I think you are the one behaving like a child ,not facing the reality of man's destruction of the planet .
The Bible warns of those who will destroy the earth .God spoke through PROPHETS AND OUTLINED THE FUTURE OF MANKIND. If you bothered to study it you would find the Empires predicted and several like Babylon , Persia ,and Greece named. Then there are numerous prophecies about Israel and the Middle East. Then of course the ones about Jesus birth ,life and death and how he will come back when the Jews are back in their land after being scattered all over the world .That was said hundreds of years before His birth.

@Ian what you fail to realize is that what you are saying has been said for thousands of years. /many philosophers have always embraced the "pursuit of the gnostic". / it is the common deception of the nonspiritual to frame their own imagination as the basis for their "spiritual awareness". / i wasted many years in such pursuits until reality made me realize that i was achieving nothing because i was drawing from nothing. / what you call mythic embryonics is in actuality returning to primary principles of reason and logic. / for example; to take the so-called "scientific" approach to our own existence has a plethora of opinions by men who are trying to circumvent the simple principle that "something cannot come from nothing" ( ex nihilo nihil fit)(out of nothing nothing comes), / this one point has been the path to almost endless pursuit by unarguably erudite people who waste an entire life ignoring the obvious. / one of the primary flaws in the mind of man is that "modern man is more intelligent that the previous generations".. / the truth is that we have more information but not more intelligence. / ultimately, i have come to realize that if i am truly pursuing truth then i have to seek the source that possesses all truth, who was before time and before the material and brought all things into being with power and purpose. / not the nonsensical notion that chance (which has no power) or energy that lacks purpose, brought things into existence. / i find it interesting that people who consider themselves as open-minded pursuers of truth, blatantly and militantly reject out of hand the most viable, logical and even verifiable evidence. / i know you fashion yourself as in the vanguard of modern reason and thought, but what you fail to realize is that you have no foundation from which to stand or ascend... other than self, and that, is an unstable a base to start from as any i can imagine. / what you think is ascending knowledge leading to the ultimate nirvana or utopia is actually a descent into the abyss of self pacification and self deception. Matt you did a lovely job of explaining some key differences between us. it is wonderful that you stress the fact that we are something like 95% alike in our beliefs. I also enjoyed your pictures and diagrams that made the dialogue much more interesting and easy to follow.
I will put forward that the differences in our Bibles, the protestants excluding the Apocrypha, should be in the top 3 because it greatly affects our interpretation of the life of Jesus and makes (IMO) the Catholic version a bit more fantastical.
That would be my choice to substitute in place of the faith vs. works contrast which, as a protestant who has had, at different times, invested several years in Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian and Evangelical churches, and has attended Catholic mass with cousins, in-laws (and graduated from a Catholic college!) my experience is that protestant churches put nearly as much stress on the fact that faith is evidenced by works just as described in James.
Also, a great difference that you didn't mention but is also in the top 3 is the treatment of the clergy with regards to marriage. It was on Martin Luther's 99 theses as he took a wife and strongly protested this rule. So it has pretty strong precedence in the protestant divergence.
That saide, thank you for your work! It is important and appreciated. We are one body!
    God bless you!

Why does she have a special mentioning in the bible. I believe that Jesus is God and He is a real man too. Why did God put Him into Mary first? This is strictly prohibited in Deuteronomy in that it is in fact a seance. This is an occult practice and thus prohibited. Thank you for the quick and informative primer. I grew up as a Lutheran and I've had Catholic girlfriends but still never quite really understood the differences. Even a block away from my grammar school there was a Catholic school. I thought it seemed dark and kids were punished there more harshly, and also some of the bad kids at our school (juvenile delinquents as they were "officially" called back then) would often get sent there, so I just assumed they were strict authoritarians who would discipline those kids into straightening up.
But because of this for many years I had my suspicions about those Catholics and what they were up to! Thankfully I out grew that and even once a Catholic nun actually baked me a blueberry pie, just for me! (thanks to my Catholic gf at the time, haha!) But now I'm a happy Taoist so it's all good is how I like to think about it, but up until now I never understood their obsession to praying to Mary, but now I understand! I love learning things that have previously perplexed me for many years! LOL

    • @MarilynCrosbie
      @MarilynCrosbie 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Now I'm going to check into Taosim, but Christianity is about a relationship with God, through Christ (listen to the words of the Lord's prayer). All humans have sinned adn fallen short of the glory of god, so we need to repent and ask Christ to forgive us all our sins and believe that his death and resurrection paid the price on our behalf and by the power of the Holy Spirit, we can live clean lives (not 100% sinless, but that is our goal to live in love).

    • @jn846
      @jn846 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@MarilynCrosbie you can be a Christian and also know practice some Taoist principles too. Many Taoist beliefs are very similar or the same as in Christianity, it's just we don't ascribe them to Christ but we may call them universal principles. We also do some pretty serious self observations and acknowledgement of wrong doings and forgiveness to others and also to ourselves. We believe, and even science agrees, that everything is energy. But energy comes in many many forms. Our bodies can only move because of energy, our thoughts and emotions are energy. By understanding the different energies we can live a better healthier and happier life. And we can respect and love our neighbors when we appreciate that they exist and indeed share all the same energy principles. Jesus even talked about this but not many people really understood it.
The Buddha who lived 500 years before Christ also taught many of the same things and traveled all over the country side and there are many stories called Sutras of what he did and what he said. The same thing Jesus did as are told in the Parables in the Bible. You would be amazed to see the similarities. At least I was. Truth is truth no matter how it's told. Sometimes in different words or storied but if it is really truth then it should be universal.
But all that aside if there is one thing I like to promote from Taoist studies is how important it is to take care of our bodies. Our bodies are a temporary vessel for our souls and like a vehicle for us to learn and grow. And unconditional love is also the goal. To give love without expectation of anything in return, otherwise if you are expecting a return then who are you really doing it for? Of course as you said we are not 100% perfect but we strive to be and do the best we can every day. Thank you for your kind reply and I wish you all the best! :)

I was a convert from Protestant to Catholic at age 22. From my personal experience, there is so much hatred and bias from protestants to Catholics. Protestants would attack catholics like they know what they are talking about even though it is so far away from the truth.. On the other hand, Catholics are so accommodating and consistent in regarding protestants as their brothers and sisters. Catholics tend to have a lot of wisdom and consistency over the church teaching in the last 2000 years. I wish protestants could be less angry at us. I am proud to say from my personal experience when I asked any priests and church parishioners, we were always told to be accommodating and be meek and mild. I cannot tell what happened in the history when the church split, but I trust my own judgement and experience that I personally have had by interacting with protestants and Catholics in my past 40+ years.

In fact, I one time read a footnote that says there's no dichotomy between faith and works.

      @MarilynCrosbie 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@wakeupcall8188 It depends on how you define split. Sometimes, there is no moving foward in a group of Christians. Some want to keep things the same week after week and allow no room for any changes that would be more helpful for some members. They can be very stubborn and unbending on things that are really not worth resisting, such as if you add new worship songs to the service that the youth enjoy singing. i haecv seen issues like this separate members of a church, yet, they still say hello in the grocery store or the doctor's office when they are about in their community. Simply because a group of Christians choose to meet in another location, such as a community hall, rather than the church building, that is not necessarily an evil thing. It's not ideal, but not something to fret about. it is better than having constant disagreements while attending the same service year in year out. that is why there are various denominations - different groups emphasize different teachings. No human group is infallible and has all the truth. we are on a journey of learning over time, at least we need to be learning every day about God and his teachings and His will.

Dear sister I see genuine and loving spirit in you and that God dwells there and you are capable to realise and see the truth so please, use that gift don’t quench that spirit
      - Bear with me, pray over it and use That Spirit, your faith, logic and reason, and tell me if I’m wrong
-I’ll start from your last statement that no group is infallible and have all truth,
-In short, sister, Apostles did and all those who follow Apostolic Tradition still have
-Sister Jesus is that Truth and He delivered that truth to all of us TO RECEIVE HIM PROPER WAY, HIS WAY COMPLETELY, IN WHOLE, NOT TO PICK AND CHOOSE and started with Apostles
      - Apostles did, because they received Him and delivered that truth to their disciples
and they did because they receive Him and delivered that to next generation of disciples
      All the way till today
      - But not everyone
      - Some didn’t
      - Some did a little bit
      - Some did in twisted way
      - What they all have in common is they have chosen what’s truth they take from Christ and what to believe about Jesus, and they can split or start something new like Arians for example, saying that Jesus is not Devine, not God the Son
They have left sound doctrine, Apostles and Apostolic Tradition
      1 John 2:19 KJV
[19] They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out , that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
For similar reasons, many epistles existed and even Jesus’s letters to seven churches in revelation
Their truth was not Apostolic Tradition was not Jesus’s truth, was not Jesus
      - If your saying is correct sister and they are not infallible then why we follow their doctrine, why we trust bible, how we know truth and what to follow
      - It’s not just for them and that time either because Jesus said Go Baptise All Nations In The Name Of The Father, Son And Holy Spirit
      -All this I’ve explained is
One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, Body of Christ, that Jesus established
      - That same Church put Bible together to separate that truth, that sound doctrine from heresies or that time
      - Church fathers disciples of Apostles continued same way in Baptism, Holy Mass Eucharist, faith, morals and delivering us that same way and all the way till today
SO, FROM ALL THIS, SISTER, WE CAN NOT SEPARATE ourselves and start something new, because we separate ourselves from Christ and starting something of our own
      I hope you see that
      - Neither Jesus nor Holy Spirit would ever say that to someone to split His Church
      - I can go in detail but I’ll wait for your response
      Mine Is already too long
      - Church is pure clean in teachings and faith and morals
      - As I said before, we are not, so were ever we go, we “contaminate” that area with our sins, because we are sinners and if one leave His Church, that Jesus established, as a sinner, didn’t change it’s heart, what makes you think, that one will be better ( I mean fully better , to become Saints) in some groups with less truth, one in theory can, of course, if changes one’s heart, which again go back to us, as problem, ignorance of truth and spiritual sloth of Jesus and everything one had before or to do what’s one wants to do, not what one’s supposed to do
So it’s not Church to blame not Jesus to blame but us
If someone leaves, like in 1500, in reformation, any little tiny things becomes big problem because there is no final Authority and me as pastor, I’m an authority and you as member if you agree or not, or as long as you agree
      - So yesterday we split from pastor John
      - today me and you are together,
      - tomorrow I’m leaving you and starting new church
      - come on sister think about who was led by Holy Spirit in first place here, pastor John, me or you, or none, we all have done splitting and maybe is just our judgment of things,
      - so in this cases what is really true and how we know that what I thinks truth
      - In Catholic Church we know, because Apostles believed same way, worshiped same way and commands us to do same way and they haven’t done any splitting
      - I just wanna point to something
      - I’m not talking about name of denomination here because Catholic Church is not denomination
      - She’s Christ’s Bride, His Body, Devine Marriage, One True Church but even here that name, doesn’t save, so I’m not preaching name here but Faith doctrine worship and only Jesus saves,
      - I know that many Catholics just have that title, nothing more, but majority believe same as Apostles because they gave their hearts to Jesus
      - Jesus is with others as well, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE WITH HIM, IN JESUS
      - He went to get that one sheep that left the flock but for the reason, strong enough, that sheep is still outside, with Christ, but not in Christ, He’s watching He loves that sheep, He’s working oh her, so she can come back to His Flock, to His Church to Noah’s ark, because “flood” is coming and ark is created by God, through men He has chosen, inside of Ark is safe, but “stinks” sometimes, because of us, sinners,
Sometimes, some “sinners”want to eats each other, but majority is calm and in Spirit of God in love and God is in control
He promised that, Gates of Hell, “Flood”, won’t prevail and the way to salvation, to safety, to everlasting new life is narrow and rough but, He gave us an Ark, to protect us from that Flood on our way to salvation
Come Home my dear sister and may God bless you on your journey
      Love and peace always

Difference between Protestant beliefs and Catholic beliefs are miles apart!
Works have nothing to do with one's Salvation as it is a Free Gift from God. We can do nothing to obtain Salvation. The Works comes in as a result of our Salvations. James is talking about doing works upon one’s Salvation and if there are no works then their Salvation and Faith is dead. If one is saved, the Holy Spirit comes into them and as a result, the Holy Spirit directs our good works of SPREADING the GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST and praying continuously, helping especially the downhearted and poor with what is at our disposal!
If you have not the Holy Spirit, you will not even think to help spread the wonders of Jesus, much less help anyone!
The Catholic Church encourages the veneration of Mary and all their saints, at least one for each day of the year! They place Statutes and kneelers along the alters to allow the faithful to worship Mary and the Saints. No image shall you bow down to and worship!?
The Only Mediator between man and God, is the Man-God, Jesus Christ!
A lot of difference in the Catholic & Protestant’s beliefs. That belief comes from God’s Holy Word, written down in the Bible!

As a very young and devote Christian, I worshiped at interfaith prayer meetings with what we called Charismatic Catholics - they had recently come to believe in the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives I think. I spent much of my Christian life trying to be the peacemaker, as Matt Fyfield as done here.
But as time went on, I learned of more and more historical differences between Roman Catholics and Protestants - the people are much alike, but the machinations of the organization has been filled with very, very disturbing differences. After seeing the generally accepted history of both, I can now say that the Catholic Church organization, and many of it’s teachings, are so profoundly different in so very many ways - ways that I believe have even been predicted by Biblical prophesy. The Vatican grows increasingly dark so quickly now, that I now side with Luther, who said he’d go along with the Council of Nicaea, but after that the Papacy is on their own. I enjoy the freedom and relative simplicity in mostly non-denominational settings. Trust the Word, Trust in Our Lord Jesus Christ, and pray to him as other as you like with no need for a priest (see Hebrews). I think when the Roman Catholic Church merged with Rome, they inherited so very, very complicated problems. I choose Jesus, I choose the assembly of the saints (all believers that is) and I choose to Father and Holy Spirit, and I choose to trust the Bible about all that it says, and am still learning, but I believe this is what our Lord intended. I don’t want to offend any true believers in the Catholic world, but I think I have been silent about all this too long.

You are correct. The Book that I love most from the Original Bible is one of the 7 ones that were taken out by Luther when he mutilated it. It is the Book of Wisdom. When my father died, I selected a reading from this Book for his Funeral Mass and I read it while I cried. It is Wisdom 3:1-9 Wisdom 3: 1 - 9
      1
But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and no torment will ever touch them.
      2
In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died, and their departure was thought to be an affliction,
      3
and their going from us to be their destruction; but they are at peace.
      4
For though in the sight of men they were punished, their hope is full of immortality.
      5
      Having been disciplined a little, they will receive great good, because God tested them and found them worthy of himself;
      6
like gold in the furnace he tried them, and like a sacrificial burnt offering he accepted them.
      7
In the time of their visitation they will shine forth, and will run like sparks through the stubble.
      8
They will govern nations and rule over peoples, and the Lord will reign over them for ever.
      9
Those who trust in him will understand truth, and the faithful will abide with him in love, because grace and mercy are upon his elect, and he watches over his holy ones.

Sorry for the length of this. The video is balanced, but some here felt the need to explain why Protestantism is "better" than Catholicism. My response:
Jesus founded a church. He didn't write a book. The Church existed before the Bible existed, and it was in fact the Church - the institution - which collected and authorized books of Scripture to be joined together AS the Bible. Therefore, it makes no sense to me that some would insist that the Bible is the sole source of authority, when the Church existed before all of the New Testament was written, and before it made the Bible a reality. Until the Reformation, the Church was guided, not only by various Scriptures, but by oral tradition and sacred custom and tradition. It was not without authority before the Bible came into being, and to suggest that God only uses the written word to convey "TRUTH" is to place limitations on God. Many of the apostles and the first Christians didn't even didn't read! It' untrue by the way, as believed by some, that Luther created the first Bible in the vernacular. The Catholic Church NEVER forbade it being in the language of the people, and did in fact authorize at last three versions in the vernacular before Luther. though they weren't widely disseminated. What the Church forbade was individuals interpreting the Bible for themselves, as Christ entrusted care for His Church and His teachings to His apostles - the first bishops - not to laymen!
In addition to this, the Holy Spirit - who Jesus said would always be with His Church - inspired Christians to adopt practices that are not specifically spelled out in Scripture, but which can be traced to it. For example, Catholics, some Anglicans, and the Orthodox venerate (not worship) saints. They see saints as being part of an extended family, members who advocate for us and help us. In Revelations, we read about the saints in heaven presenting golden bowls to the Lamb, which contain the prayers of the people on earth. If our prayers go directly to God only - if we are not to pray (speak) to saints, then why were the saints presenting our prayers TO God, acting as intermediaries? Likewise, in the Old Testament we read of a man who was robbed, killed, and thrown into a cave, where his body fell on the bones of Elisha. He was restored to life, not because the bones - relics - had magic power, but because God chose to work a miracle through them. Based on this, many Christians venerate relics, honor them, for God may choose to work miracles through them, or icons - or anything else HE chooses.
During the Reformation, England, just as an example, lost an estimated 2/3 of its religious cultural heritage. Churches, convents and monasteries - which had provided spiritual comfort and corporal aid to millions for centuries - were destroyed, sold, or converted to Protestant establishments. Statues, crucifixes, stained glass and other works of are were destroyed. Shrines were looted and closed, libraries were decimated, traditions banned, memorials to the dead destroyed or altered, the bodies of saints dug up and burned, and on and on. Yes, there were problems that needed addressing, but the Reformation - which was a top-down phenomenon, with the people following their princes and kings - was motivated to a large degree by greed. Today there are a gazillion Protestant churches, each with its own "take" on what the Bible means. The movement fractured again and again, because Luther's vision - one of reform - morphed into something else, with the baby being thrown out with the bath water.

Why are there so many differences between what Catholics teach & their Vulgate translation compared to protestant teachings & the received text? Why do you claim that there was no scripture before the reformation & the church was guided by tradition when the old testament was written over 2000 years (well parts of it anyway) before the reformation? There are many warnings in the new testament about the dangers of following tradition so why would Christ have a church based on it when some of His earliest teachings include that He is the Word? Your opening line claiming the video was balanced is as good an indication as any that you have no idea what scripture teaches, no mention of Mary worship, eternal hellfire, purgatory, immortal souls confession to a priest among many pagan ideas adopted into the catholic church.

The "church" you put so much faith in, became corrupted. That's why the reformation happened. When something goes bad and there is no chance of righting it, you abandon it. That's what the people did in the 1500s. They abandoned a corrupt church and continued with a pure church.

The catholic bible has been altered several times lots of bits got taken out over the years and new bits put in when science proved a section was a lie.
Garden od eden bit with Adam and eve has been altered. Originaly it said god created Adhim and Lillith from dust. Adhim meaning men not a name of a person. words ending him in hebrew is plural. like elo is god. elohim is gods.
When Lillith refused to obey Adhin god bannished her from the garden and put Adhim into a deep sleep and pulled out a rib to create Eve as a slave to Adhim. to obey his every command.
Catholic church believes women have no power and r the root of all evil. Protestants believe men and women r equel and works more like the druidea religion that predecded christianty. protestants can have female priests catholics cant.
Catholics pray to more than 1 dieghty. protest like the druidea only pray to 1.
Catholics r more like the Romans who created it have a diff god to pray to for diff things. IE if ur traveling u pray to st christopher to keep u safe. If u want to fall in love u pray to st Valentine who is the roman god of love Venus. The roman god Saturn became satan. The drudea sun became Jesus.
All christianty did was change the names of the stars and planets into gods. Druidea only worshipped mother earth. the planets and stars were looked at to see when the best time was to plant crops and breed animals. for that they used places like stonehendge which weas built as a calender sp when the sun was over a paticular stone it was time to do something the stars also had to be over certains stones to show the season.
IE 22nd december in ancient times the sun was at its lowest point in the sky. it didnt get higher or lower for 3 days. in the night sky where the sun would of been was the crux consletaltion also known as the southern cross. so to the Druids the sun was crucified on the cross. hence the celtic cross having a circle in the middle.
On the night of the 24th/25th december the 3 stars in orions belt known as the 3 kings lined up with sirius the brightest star in the sky and pointed to where the sun wouyld rise on the 25th. On the 25th the sun started getting higher in the sky again signaling the coming end of winter thats the resurection.
Easter is when the sun rose over a diff stone signaling Spring had arrived and time to plant crops. The winter sulstice was when it was time to start breeding animals and humans so they were born at a time when there was plenty of food and so they could be strong enough to survive the next winter.
Just about everything Christians believe came from the celts. They stole Celtic symbols and use them as Christian symbols. Changed a 1 god system into a multi god system.
Celts had a 1 god system in pre Eygptian times long before the Hebrews wrote the torah.
The celtic religion was created around 50'000BCE and was the very 1st religion invented by man. 1 god mother earth the creater of all life. They lived in harmoney with mother earth only look what they needed to survive. If they chopped down a tree for wood they prayed to mother earth in thanks then planted a new tree in its place. When they killed an animal for food they prayed to mother earth to thank her for the food. The blood and bones were mixed and dried and put back into the ground as fertilsor to help the crops grow. it was their way of giving back something they took.
Christians just keep taking from mother earth and give nothing back.
Celts folowed all the comandments. Christians ignore most of them.
There is over 600 commandments in the bible but only 10 ever get quoted and used. Those 10 came from the Eygtian book of the dead and just got reworded.
There is nothing original in the bible everything was taken from religions that came before it. They just changed the wording or meanings to get power and money.
The catholic church banned teaching, medicine, reading, writting. Thats what started the dark ages and the inquistion. Anyone found to be healing someone was branded a witch and burnt at the stake. 1 pope wanted to prove how much power he had and demanded that everyone belive the earth was flat even though it had been known to be round for thousands of years. Anyone who refused to accept it was burnt at the stake as a heretic.
When England broke away from the catholic church the pope orderd every catholic country was to go to war with England to force them back in again. Spannish Aramada was part of that war. As was the 100 years war. England fought off every attempt to bring England back to the catholic fold.
So kings and queens were killed to get a catholic king or queen on the thrown to get them back that way. Other countries followed England out of the catholic church as they didnt like being dictaded too by the pope on what they could and couldnt do.
If u failed to turn up in Church on sunday no matter the reason u were burnt at the stake as a heretic. U might of got attacked on the way to church and had ur legs broken no excuse for not turning up.
Christmas day used to be in july. u had to be in church from midnight to midnight. not allowed to eat or drink anything for 24 hrs u were only allowed to be on urs knees in church praying. if u fell ill in church u were burnt at the stake.
St nicholas day was in early december. thats to celibrate nico clause a toy maker from lapland who every year hitched up his raindeer and sliegh and took toys to the orphanes in lapland. 1 night he went out and never came back. His family went looking for him and found him 3 days later frozen solid. he got caught in a blizzard and froze to death. The word santa is spanish for saint. So he became santa clause. His outfit was green not red. The red came about cause of coka cola in the mid 1950's the green clashed with their red label so in adverts they put santa in red instead of green and its been red ever since.
A pope noticed ppl were far happier celibrating st nicholas day than christmas day so he merged the 2 together and put it on the Drudea holiday of the 25th december.
The crusades came about cause an emisary of the pope came back from the middle east and said the arabs refuse to be christians but they have a lot of treasure. The pope said all treasure on earth belongs to god. As im gods representaive on earth it belongs to me. So he orderd all the kings of Europe to send armies to go and get it for him. It had nothing to do with the holy land it was all about greed. The holy land didnt even exist then. That was created later by rewritting the bible.
The knights templar built Jerusalem as a fort. there was no Jersulem prior to the crusades as it never existed. Ancient maps of Palastine done by the greeks in the time of Jesus had no settlements at jerusalem, Nazarth or Bethlheme as they didnt exist then. They r bible constructs put in during the crusades.
The christian bible was created by emporor constantine. His empire was falling apart cause of all the diff religois groups fighting each other. So he got his scholars to find out about all the diff religous groups and then create a new religoin with bits from each of the other religions to unite his ppl.
He himself was pagen and didnt believe in any religion. He never converted to Christianty but was babtised after he was burried against his wishes to claim he was christian.
His wife confirmed he never converted to Christianty and after he was burried Christians dug up his body babtised him then burried him again.
So if catholics want u to be catholioc they will get u after u die no matter what ur beliefs r. Its be catholic or burn in hell.

My Wife was born & raised Catholic while I am a lifelong Presbyterian. We have no problems as we have the same common core beliefs. She was free to marry me as her husband had passed and I was also a widower (twice). While we lived in the states, we went to Mass at the Catholic Church and we attended Services at the Presbyterian Church. The Catholic Church will not allow me to receive communion but the Presbyterian Church accepts all so she can & did receive communion along with me. Some years ago we moved to the Philippines (she is Filipina, I am American) which is predominately Roman Catholic and there are no Presbyterian Churches on the island where we live so I attend Mass with her. The Mass here is the same as the Mass in the US although English and Illongo Language are intermixed. There has never been any questions regarding children as she had a hysterectomy in 1984 while married and I had a vasectomy in 1978 (she is now 71 and I am 80). The local Parish of the Catholic Church here will see that I receive a proper burial when it is my time.

You must understand now why you are not allowed to receive communion in a Catholic church.

You imply at the end that Protestants don’t care about good works. As a Wyoming Episcopalian, I disagrree! We are duty-bound to do Good Works as followers of Christ.🙋🏼‍♀️🏔💞🌠

That is true Protestants don't believe in Good work.Martin Luther said that seeking God's grace comes before doing good works. But the Bible says in James that" a man with all faith but no works is a dead man"... Apostle Paul strictly apposed such Churches that preached the same things.....That's why u see Prostitution, gamble, porn, LGBT marriage is legal in Protestant dominated countries...!!!

Patel Rohan Sorry, mate, you blame the ills of the world on Protestants primarily. Check out the secular world, all religions, too. Great highs and lows manifest in each. Human nature can be peevish and paradoxical, and your writing reflects that oddity. Anyway, have a great summer!🙋🏼‍♀️

Please don't. This video is not only brief, it's far from correct. The heart of Protestant and Roman Catholicism belief (doctrine) is totally different. Ignore the so called 95% similarity. That's too wrong!

  • @garymartin9777
    @garymartin9777 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Probably the defining difference which was touched on is expressed in St. John: "I am the way, the truth and the light. No one gets to the father but through me." This has both an abstract and non-abstract reading, the latter meaning that to communicate with God one must go through Jesus who is the sole intermediary between a believer and God. This shuts down the concept of needing a priest or pastor to dial-up God for you -- just call on Jesus in prayer to do it and he will.

I have friends both in the Catholic and also in the Protestant church. I am Protestant but very disappointed in their behavior and in claiming to be saved when they do NOT bear the fruits that God wants us to bear. I agree with Dominic who states that faith without works is DEAD. Even those who seem to be so spiritual and loving seem to have no heart for the poor nor for those who need help. Religion is not important but relationship with the Lord is most important, by that I mean knowing His word and doing what His spirit leads us to do. For example in the last judgment in the book of Matthew the people will be divided into two groups, the goats and the sheep. I have found that most Protestants believe they are saved by faith alone and do NOT need to care for the poor and needy. They will be in for a great shock when the Lord comes and tells them to depart and go into hell instead of heaven which they proclaim to go to naturally. I found no one to help me, no one to care when I was in need, actually secular friends showed more compassion than those who call themselves Christians.

I agree with you I am Ex-muslim converted to Christianity baptized in Coptic Orthodox church I shocked with Christians' morals just stole the name of Christ. They hurted, exploited and harmed me like Muslims while I was hiding when I fled my country. Then I found myself in Catholicism after experience. I know that of course Catholics are not perfect 100% but at least they are the best in their ethics, heart, faith and mind. Most of the time, the Orthodox Christians are so fanatical, heartless and narrow minded and Protestants are worse than them😟😦 the fruits of the faith is so important. God is about love not about religion.

@@sawsanelshafey3634 Must remember in the understanding of Protestant Christianity that one must be regenerated or die to their old self, born again by Christ which I feel you most likely were. You had an experience that changed you. I know Islam is not easy to break. The trouble is there are many who CALL themselves Christian because they believe in God and at least in word alone trust Jesus for their redemption in the end. But have never had the EXPERIENCE with Him. The one when He changes your heart. Here's the second problem. The ones who HAVE HAD IT often get lazy in our own little world and stop worrying about our neighbor. Western culture is the personification of this. We went from 50 years ago knowing everyone on the street, maybe even the community and coming together to help one another to a "mind your own business" attitude because our morality has slipped and we don't want to have our sins found out so we isolate ourselves. Thirdly, many probably sadly see you and are struck with fear. Fearing that you are maybe just pretending so that you can gain information to take back to an Imam who is looking to maybe attack. It's sad that folks are like that but Islam has been really, really good at terrorizing and once that hits you you become paralyzed with fear in a lot of ways. I praise Jesus for setting you free and making you a brother/sister (sorry, can't tell from your name. :)). I just ask for patience with us and know that God will provide.

There are many more differences than what is in this video. I have a list of at least 40 different doctrinal differences between Catholics and protestants.

If you want all the differences outline then this will no longer fit in a 4 minute video presentation. As 500 years is not enough to settle the differences.
Pastor Rick Warren love the phrase of St.Augustine "in similarities unity and in differences charity." Then we can live as one brother peacefully that was the Ecumenism was all about and it extends to other non-Christian faith as well as Abba Father wants Jesus to unite all His creature as One not by perfection of faith but perfection of LOVE., as the greatest of all this is LOVE.but remember its not Whitney Houston but Jesus Christ..just want to make you smile..kidding aside. We are all ONE in Christ Jesus because of the Merciful Love of God..John17:20-22

your Christian faith is definitely way different from Muslim but what is the common ground? Christian and Muslims have One Creator so only One Father.
And what is the desire of God the Father that Jesus thru His Founded Church must accomplish? Read John17:20-22
