      Actually if you watch the old tutorial I have in the description, it's exactly what you're asking for. Unfortunately, Tesla changed the feature, which sucks because I actually liked it the old way too.

    You should just be able to select an “unlock all doors upon approach” option. It’s an everyday nuisance that my girlfriend has to wait outside the car every single time we get into the car and nothing I do before getting in can get her in. For such a high tech car this is a horrible fumble by Tesla that could be fixed with ease.

      Sounds like you should just turn it off? That's essentially what you're asking.

    Man I rented a 2022 Tesla 3 today. When I tell you I did not know how to unlock anything except the driver door. Went to target and literally gave up with trying to press the trunk with the key in my hand. Had to put all my bags through the driver door. I know folks had to laugh. This video just saved me lol. That's ok if you are unlocking it for others, frequently I throw shopping on the floor of the empty passenger seat, so when I get home, I get out of the car and go around to the passenger side only to find it's locked and there is no way [other than walking back around to the driver side] and pressing the button you talked about. Rather irritating you can't do this on the app, I wonder if Tesla could have a second button [in the app] to unlock all the doors from the outside? If you are out and the kids run ahead you should be able to do this I think.

    • @nukem384
      @nukem384  ปีที่แล้ว

      This feature used to act like that, where you could open any passenger door first and all doors would open. I think because the feature now functions the way it does, it's not very popular. My only suggestion for you would be to either long press your side door when you get out as shown. Or tap the lock button on the screen, both annoying, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Or just turn the feature off altogether and not worry about it.

      @@nukem384 Thank you, I just never remember - but I haven't had it long. I don't want to unlock all the doors with one zap for obvious reasons, I guess I will just have to try and remember. That and no sensors - there have been a few disappointments which with Tesla reputation I am surprised.... lots of good stuff too though. Cheers

    99% of the time I drive alone in the car so I liked the security that the driver's door and trunk will unlock on approach, great when you want to put something in the truck coming out of a store. A small problem, however, with this 2022.40 update I found a long press inside on the driver's door button may unlock all doors but it does not unlock the trunk without first going into the car and pressing trunk "open" on the monitor screen. Turn this new feature off and everything on the car unlocks on approach as before. Very frustrating.

    • @nukem384
      @nukem384  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I think the logic is basically you can get into the car and charge at a SC (or at home) if needed, but that's it. Let's say you don't check your 6 and try to open the trunk, maybe somebody attacks you or whatever. I think that's why only those 2 doors will open. If you really wanted, what you could do is open the trunk from the app as you approach. That would be a workaround for what you want?

    • @rania17ca
      @rania17ca ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Same here. Really disappointed with this update. Usually drive alone and like having drive only unlock mode on for safety reasons. Being able to unlock trunk on approach was very convenient - taking this away makes it’s really frustrating. Now you need to either open app (which is inconvenient) or use touchscreen to open trunk (way more inconvenient when loading groceries). Makes me want a traditional fob with trunk button. That was easier than wiping out phone, opening app, waiting for it to load and pressing trunk button.

    • @nukem384
      @nukem384  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you need to turn off the feature and the doors will work like any other car. I have to load a toddler into the car seat right now too, and that would be more annoying than it already is to have to manually open all doors from the inside first.

    thanks for this. I guess I'll take the driver's lock off. It's annoying when I have something I want to put in the passenger side first. I wish they'd put a double click mode on the unlock for the app-so first click is driver...second is for all doors. (like bmw) Hopefully in the future :)

    • @nukem384
      @nukem384  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would just take it off, yeah. That's actually how the featured used to function. If you had it on, you could open the passenger door first, then all doors would open. I think since they changed it to the current status, it hasn't been very popular.

  • @uscrama
    @uscrama ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @nukem384
      @nukem384  ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess security dictates you're not holding anything and it's just you? I think the way they updated this feature isn't super popular. I've received a lot of comments similar to yours.

  • @knightriderfan1
    @knightriderfan1 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would be nice if the key fob would work like my previous Audi with keyless entry where it would only unlock the door closest to the key. So if I were to open the passenger door, it would only unlock that door, leaving all other doors locked. If I then walked over to the driver door, I could unlock that one as well, keeping the rear doors and trunk locked.

When charging at home the cable will not release until I either hold down the button on my fob or get in the car and use the screen, 1st world problems I know but surely if the car recognises the fob and unlocks the doors it should unlock the cable. Am I missing something ?

    • @nukem384
      @nukem384  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, that's not how it works with Tesla :D. You can use the screen like you're doing, but an easier way is there's a button on the plug. Push it down and you'll see the T on the charge port turn white. Then you can pull the plug out.

    It's not perfect, but the driver door unlock feature is nice and necessary. I use it in my MYP.
    In my Audi, I had a similar feature enabled. One day at a gas station, two guys tried to solicit me to buy a box with a supposed home theatre system inside. (Likely a scam -- rocks inside). I said I wasn't interested, and then the next thing I know the guy went to open my rear passenger side door to put the system in my back seat while offering lower and lower bids after I continued to say I wasn't interested.
    Fortunately, my driver door is the only one that opened because of this feature. The other door he tried didn't open and the guy was taken aback because he saw the car let me in the driver's door seconds earlier after I touched its handle.
    Safety first. I promptly drove off from the pushy duo of scam artist.
