Finally, I owned my Tesla for 3 months and finally found the solution for this annoying issue
I just found out today, as my Tesla did not recognize my phone and wanted me to use my keycard, out of curiosity, I placed my cell phone where the card normally goes and it worked.

or use the old fashion key card that came with tesla, then put it BEHIND your phone case, so its always with you. Another option is moon walk towards your car (ass forwards)

I have that same issue. Called Tesla twice and they had no answer. Thanks for this video. Btw. I have been standing sideways to the vehicle to unlock.
Technically, yes the car likely sees your phone. But the signal is weeker so it thinks your too far away. Same outcome though.
Have you also enabled the backround app refresh?

It’s not your body blocking the BT it’s the range from the car that’s stopping it. It’s in case somebody like a thief ran up to the car and tried to steal it while you walked away from the car. Hence being up close in person before it unlocks.
Your body also blocks it. You are made up of water and that blocks Bluetooth. The video shows you can be close and still have it blocked.
@@RatsTeslaBluetooth uses UHF radio waves. Your car sees it and it’s not been blocked. The car is programmed to unlock when it’s within a certain range. Guaranteed turn on the Bluetooth radio play and song and put the phone in your back pocket and walk away. See if the car can still play the music.

As of May 2023, update app, go to security, find the new "passive" setting

My phone always in front pocket but for some reason my phone will say connected and once I come back to my car it says disconnected and it won't let me open my car it will say disconnected and sometimes I restart my phone and than it will say connected
I have same problem not getting signal even when my phone in my front pocket
Also notice if I wake the phone it doesn’t matter where it is.
On the X model I can open my drivers door but I can’t open the passenger door or either side door. I always have my phone in my hand. I have to go to controls to open all the doors.
That sounds like a Settings issue

Thanks but it does not work i can open the car in the app which means it has bleutooth connection but to start the car i have to use the keycard, that is how Renault started his cars 15 years ago, thats was also with a keycard but one which was difficult to destroy it accidentaly. Good lord, wish i was still driving my Toyota RAV 4 inst ead of this experimental car with even no 360 degrees birdview.

Strange. I haven’t had any issues after update. Are all the updates done on your phone?
I have had the same problem after the last 3 updates. Don’t know which one may be the culprit as they all came within 2 weeks. The problem is intermittent. The phone is in my front pocket. It’s an iPhone 13.

But that has zero to do with Bluetooth performance. You going to delete the app every time it doesn’t unlock because your phone is in your back pocket?
