Good tip. I actually broke the cable on my car using it! Tesla service fixed it at no charge and also told me to try the two-button reboot first next time before pulling that cable.
This also applies to a J1772 adapter when you pull out the charger nozzle without holding the adapter at the same time and the adapter stays on when the lid closes onto it. The lid will refuse to open without the help described here.

You can split the horizontal airflow of each passenger by using two fingers simultaneously and split the airflow. It's trickier to connect the two airflows but it's cool if you want the air to flow around you and not on you. I love that feature and I have never seen any youtube video talking about it. Be the first!
Can't you just swipe left or right with one finger for the same effect? Perhaps I'm not understanding you perfectly. I'll try the two finger method when I go to pick up some bread and milk for the 16th time today. Any excuse to go for a drive, right?

For cruise control- if you pull the lever down quickly, cruise control will be set to your current speed. If you pull the lever down and hold it for a second, it will set cruise to the speed limit plus your chosen offset. Much faster way to set it and not get pulled over.

@ 3:53 - cancel turn signal - you can cancel your turn signal by tapping the indicator stalk in EITHER direction. As Andy said, just don't press it all the way or you'll get a turn signal in the opposite direction. Tested on a Model Y.

@@moa8839 I mean have the camera feed display on the screen when you activate the blinker. Apparently another car manufacturer (can't remember which one) has a patent on this so Tesla is trying to figure out a way around it. Just seems silly.
@@cecil4485 With age, my neck doesn't have the flexibility to turn as well. There is no way to set the mirrors to cover the blind spot. Check the small inset mirror on the Ford C-Max. It is the best blind spot coverage I have ever had, and I miss it terribly!

I brought my 4 month old Model Y in for a service appointment. It has been sitting in the lot for 5 days. I suggest that for service issues that do not effect the safety or drivability of the car, once an appointment has been booked and the nature of the service confirmed, that the Service manager calls or texts for the car 12 hours before it is due for work to be done.

For what it’s worth - the parking / emergency break is always applied when in park (always as stated in the manual). When in park, if you apply the emergency break you will hear a sound - which is actually the breaks attempting to reapply themselves. Applying the emergency break as you did in the video is intended for use while driving should you need it, but not necessary for other situations like parking on a hill etc.
@@vedamaharaj What I’m saying is the parking brake is not just for driving as you mentioned since the Tesla itself applies them after summon. It’s a parking brake like any other car.

@@JohnVanderbeck The visibility isn't great in these vehicles, turning your head is less useful and, more than likely, more dangerous in many cases than just looking at the blind spot cameras on the screen.
@@frankdangelo5901 There were no blind spot cameras back then, at least not automatic ones like we have now. I maintain my original statement though. Properly set mirrors don't have blind spots. 90% of people don't set mirrors properly. My biggest blind spot is actually the driver side A pillar. I swear that thing blocks my forward left visibility more than other cars, or I'm nutso.

Andy, great vid as always. Learned a few things I didn't know about like "secret auto park" and "2 min keyless driving". Wish there was a way to control font size on some screen info like clock time, nav time and distance. As I get older the smaller font requires more time to focus, when taking my eyes off the road. If I could make some of the info larger it would be safer for me at least.
There are a number of things I can't read on the screen because even with glasses, I don't have 20-20 vision. So I move my head closer to the screen and try to read thru my bifocals. Talk about unsafe! So much worse than even just glancing at the screen. My eyes are good enough right now to pass the DMV test, but as it gets worse, I'll have to give up my Tesla if they don't add a font size feature. so Sad!

An easier way to minimize and maximize music screen is just to swipe up or down on the music ICON. Each time you swipe up or down, it increases the size of the screen.
I wish it had a feature where the volume is reset to a default level every time you leave the car. I've had so many occasions where I'm listening to really loud music in the evening, and then get in the car in the morning and give myself a shock when the stereo starts playing music at the same loudness. I also wish it dipped the volume when the car is placed in reverse to allow you to better concentrate on the parking manoeuvre.
To prevent that before I get out I turn the left scroll wheel down several times to lower the volume. This will only take 1 sec. Also I don't know about your car but my Model 3 will decrease the volume when I'm in reverse.
@@teslapower5461 Haha the point is that I don't want to remember to turn it down every time I get out of the car! It would be more helpful if it just reset the volume to a lower value each time. My previous Audi TT did this and it was a great feature. On another note, are you aware of Tesla recently improving acceleration speeds in older Model 3s as well as the new refreshed models? People online are saying that it has received a 0.2s acceleration boost (LR going from 4.4 to 4.2s 0-60mph) but I can't find anything official from Tesla.
@@cdv1qa I know about the range increase but not the acceleration boost. If you go to your app and under acceleration boost upgrade it'll tell you your current acceleration time. Mine is still at 4.4 sec 0-100 km.
@@teslapower5461 If you look in the app, it gives different values for the acceleration boost than it used to. Mine used to say 4.6 to 4.1 for 0-100, but now it says 4.4 to 3.9. The thing is, I'm wondering if this only refers to the newly refreshed model (whose 0-100 is truly 4.4) but they've changed the text in the app to say this even if it's not reflective of the speeds on the older models...sorry, it's hard to explain this but hopefully you understand what I mean...
@@teslapower5461 My Model 3 does not decrease the volume when it's placed in reverse. I also asked the guys at my local Tesla service centre and they said it's not a feature of the car. I'm not sure how you have it in yours!
For those Teslas that have an external speaker, I would like to see an option to use it for chirps when locking and unlocking, rather than a short sounding of the horn.

I didn't know about the turn signal trick. I was that person who signaled left, then right, then left again...lol. Oh, and most people that know a Tesla records them breaking in, also know where the flash drive is. A Jeda isn't fooling anyone. It would have been better if Tesla designed a place to plug in the flash drive in an area that is hard to get at.
@@abhinavcj1 putting it in the glovebox isn't any better. Anyone can pry open a locked glovebox with a screwdriver. It needs to be someplace that takes a lot of effort to get to, and yes that would be a pain for us but I'd rather it be that way to discourage a thief from trying to get to it. Most often when a criminal breaks into a car and finds a glovebox locked they're then thinking there's something valuable inside it, so then they'll pry it open. This damages the glovebox door, the lock and possibly some of the dash.
Having a usb hidden is good, but even better would be to have a few extra gigs of storage in the on-board computer to store the last 24 hours. Then use the USB feature to expand on storage for older footage.
Thanks for the excellent video. On my 2023 MY, I can cancel the turn signal by moving the turn signal arm slightly up OR down. You just have to be careful not to go by the detent. Pushing too hard and going by the detent will set the turn signal on.
Andy, I have a Model Y and live north of Columbus, Ohio... Up until recently autopilot asked me to touch the wheel every 30 seconds. But recently after driving on some back roads and rapidly having to turn the wheel to keep from hitting an item or where there was a flag person, and at the time of the evasive maneuver the car gave me the loud warning. Now the car is making me touch the wheel every 15 seconds, like it thinks my maneuvers were dangerous and is punishing me. Has anyone else experienced this? Also, you are touching the screen too much, voice command will handle literally every function that you touched the screen for, such as Windshield Wipers Auto, My passengers a$$ is cold, etc. I have found over a hundred functioning commands. Play "Unbreak My Heart" and the list goes on....
Did you know that the rear seat on the Model Y, and I suspect the Model 3 has a slight recline feature that really makes the seat more comfortable? I was sitting in the back seat of my car and pulled on the seat tab which would normally allow the seat to fold down, however it allowed the seat to recline and inch or so. It really added to the comfort level of the seat.
thanks for the great tips. I lowered my trunk opening and the first time I used it in a parking lot I banged my head after putting something inside. Now I open the trunk all the way and move the car outside before I open the trunk.

Price are coming down fast, but you get what you pay for? The why: You pay the price of cheaper fuel in advance on the battery. You should now be able to find an electric car comparable to an ICE counterpart, but you might still be looking at that 3-6k price bump of the battery. If you only want a Tesla, you have to be honest and compare it to similar class ICE cars.

How about just putting a blind spot light in the mirror? It’s much easier for the driver and less distracting. How about more luxury features and fewer auto drive features which do not work well? How about a normal cruise control that doesn’t jerk to a stop unnecessarily?
looking at the mirror would be more distracting, the screen is closer to the road so it’d actually be better if they weren’t turning their head away from what’s in front of them.
@@patrick1007 having both systems, I must emphatically disagree. I have spoken to friends who also own both systems; they all agree with me. Glancing quickly at a side view mirror is less intensive than having to touch a screen at a specific point. Also people are mostly trained to look at side view mirrors, unless perhaps they are the rare person who has only driven a Tesla all their life. In short, I own two Teslas, and these are a few items that I find quite frustrating regarding them. Another one is the useless waste of space on the dashboard for a cartoon image of your car in relationship to surrounding traffic. Another one is the inability to change the font size, so people over 50 can actually see the screen.
@@richardhead2318 well if you were to think of it logically no looking at the screen that’s right in front of you, the way you do with. rear view cam or your maps, looking slightly a couple inches down and to the right is less aggressive of a movement than looking all the way to the side, plus putting that light in is another part that would need fixed if broken, also they’re most likely adding an update soon to fix the cameras needing to be brought up manually, soon they’ll come up when you turn on your signal. overall it’s just a slight adjustment lol, if people over 50 could try and learn new things instead of forcing their older concepts/ideas on new innovative tech that would allow it to grow and become something wonderful but if we’re constantly dummying things down to just a light in a mirror every other car has, it’s not very tesla like, hence why they most likely will never add it.
@@richardhead2318 i’ve driven all kinds of cars Tesla’s are the best when it comes to blind spot monitoring because yes a little light is cute but actually being able to see i’m not going to get into an accident is much more preferable over just a light saying it’s safe for me to go this making me further turn my head around my shoulder to make the lane switch

It actually locks automatically so no one can steal your charger or charge their car under your cable. That's how I got it explained at the dealership

I brought my 4 month old Model Y in for a service appointment. It has been sitting in the lot for 5 days. I suggest that for service issues that do not effect the safety or drivability of the car, once an appointment has been booked and the nature of the service confirmed, that the Service manager calls or texts for the car 12 hours before it is due for work to be done.

For what it’s worth - the parking / emergency break is always applied when in park (always as stated in the manual). When in park, if you apply the emergency break you will hear a sound - which is actually the breaks attempting to reapply themselves.
Applying the emergency break as you did in the video is intended for use while driving should you need it, but not necessary for other situations like parking on a hill etc.
Not sure about your response because after you summon, the Tesla puts on the parking brake.

@@vedamaharaj What I’m saying is the parking brake is not just for driving as you mentioned since the Tesla itself applies them after summon. It’s a parking brake like any other car.

@@vedamaharaj sorry. Maybe you don’t realize that is when the car drives itself. When it’s done it applies the parking brake. So it’s reasonable that it’s the extra measure of safety to apply it.

About the automatic camera with turn signal, Elon responded "sure" to a tweet back in july from a guy asking exactly that. So it's just a matter of time now i'd say
Use summon to park in small garage. Good control and it parks my car with 12 inches on space on each side.

Yeah right? I mean this is how I was taught to drive a million years ago lol. Turn your head and look! I love technology and anxious to get my new Model 3 that I've already ordered, but sometimes I feel like we use technology as a crutch.

@@JohnVanderbeck The visibility isn't great in these vehicles, turning your head is less useful and, more than likely, more dangerous in many cases than just looking at the blind spot cameras on the screen.
@@frankdangelo5901 There were no blind spot cameras back then, at least not automatic ones like we have now. I maintain my original statement though. Properly set mirrors don't have blind spots. 90% of people don't set mirrors properly.
My biggest blind spot is actually the driver side A pillar. I swear that thing blocks my forward left visibility more than other cars, or I'm nutso.
@@JohnVanderbeck I know there wasn't blind spot cameras back then lol My first car was a 1994 Toyota Camry.. it certainly didn't have any cameras in it. But my comment was referring to turning your head in Teslas, specifically.

Andy, great vid as always. Learned a few things I didn't know about like "secret auto park" and "2 min keyless driving". Wish there was a way to control font size on some screen info like clock time, nav time and distance. As I get older the smaller font requires more time to focus, when taking my eyes off the road. If I could make some of the info larger it would be safer for me at least.
There are a number of things I can't read on the screen because even with glasses, I don't have 20-20 vision. So I move my head closer to the screen and try to read thru my bifocals. Talk about unsafe! So much worse than even just glancing at the screen. My eyes are good enough right now to pass the DMV test, but as it gets worse, I'll have to give up my Tesla if they don't add a font size feature. so Sad!

An easier way to minimize and maximize music screen is just to swipe up or down on the music ICON. Each time you swipe up or down, it increases the size of the screen.

Same, I hate how it interrupts music every time I come out of Autopilot.
I can’t use Autopilot when my wife is in the car because of the chimes, even in Joe mode. Would be nice to be able to soften the volume a bit more.

I wish it had a feature where the volume is reset to a default level every time you leave the car. I've had so many occasions where I'm listening to really loud music in the evening, and then get in the car in the morning and give myself a shock when the stereo starts playing music at the same loudness.
I also wish it dipped the volume when the car is placed in reverse to allow you to better concentrate on the parking manoeuvre.
To prevent that before I get out I turn the left scroll wheel down several times to lower the volume. This will only take 1 sec. Also I don't know about your car but my Model 3 will decrease the volume when I'm in reverse.
@@teslapower5461 Haha the point is that I don't want to remember to turn it down every time I get out of the car! It would be more helpful if it just reset the volume to a lower value each time. My previous Audi TT did this and it was a great feature. On another note, are you aware of Tesla recently improving acceleration speeds in older Model 3s as well as the new refreshed models? People online are saying that it has received a 0.2s acceleration boost (LR going from 4.4 to 4.2s 0-60mph) but I can't find anything official from Tesla.
@@cdv1qa I know about the range increase but not the acceleration boost. If you go to your app and under acceleration boost upgrade it'll tell you your current acceleration time. Mine is still at 4.4 sec 0-100 km.
@@teslapower5461 If you look in the app, it gives different values for the acceleration boost than it used to. Mine used to say 4.6 to 4.1 for 0-100, but now it says 4.4 to 3.9. The thing is, I'm wondering if this only refers to the newly refreshed model (whose 0-100 is truly 4.4) but they've changed the text in the app to say this even if it's not reflective of the speeds on the older models...sorry, it's hard to explain this but hopefully you understand what I mean...
@@teslapower5461 My Model 3 does not decrease the volume when it's placed in reverse. I also asked the guys at my local Tesla service centre and they said it's not a feature of the car. I'm not sure how you have it in yours!

This was awesome. I admittedly don't have a Tesla and would love to own one but as an IT guy the geek in me loves this.
I didn't know about the turn signal trick. I was that person who signaled left, then right, then left again...lol.
Oh, and most people that know a Tesla records them breaking in, also know where the flash drive is. A Jeda isn't fooling anyone. It would have been better if Tesla designed a place to plug in the flash drive in an area that is hard to get at.
The model 3 and y refresh are reportedly going to have that usb drive located in the glovebox ..
They are putting it in the glovebox in the next Model 3 upgrade. Exactly on the same thought lines as you basically.
@@abhinavcj1 putting it in the glovebox isn't any better. Anyone can pry open a locked glovebox with a screwdriver. It needs to be someplace that takes a lot of effort to get to, and yes that would be a pain for us but I'd rather it be that way to discourage a thief from trying to get to it. Most often when a criminal breaks into a car and finds a glovebox locked they're then thinking there's something valuable inside it, so then they'll pry it open. This damages the glovebox door, the lock and possibly some of the dash.
Having a usb hidden is good, but even better would be to have a few extra gigs of storage in the on-board computer to store the last 24 hours. Then use the USB feature to expand on storage for older footage.
Thanks for the excellent video. On my 2023 MY, I can cancel the turn signal by moving the turn signal arm slightly up OR down. You just have to be careful not to go by the detent. Pushing too hard and going by the detent will set the turn signal on.
Andy, I have a Model Y and live north of Columbus, Ohio... Up until recently autopilot asked me to touch the wheel every 30 seconds. But recently after driving on some back roads and rapidly having to turn the wheel to keep from hitting an item or where there was a flag person, and at the time of the evasive maneuver the car gave me the loud warning. Now the car is making me touch the wheel every 15 seconds, like it thinks my maneuvers were dangerous and is punishing me. Has anyone else experienced this?
Also, you are touching the screen too much, voice command will handle literally every function that you touched the screen for, such as Windshield Wipers Auto, My passengers a$$ is cold, etc. I have found over a hundred functioning commands. Play "Unbreak My Heart" and the list goes on....

Did you know that the rear seat on the Model Y, and I suspect the Model 3 has a slight recline feature that really makes the seat more comfortable? I was sitting in the back seat of my car and pulled on the seat tab which would normally allow the seat to fold down, however it allowed the seat to recline and inch or so. It really added to the comfort level of the seat.
When’s the 3 refresh being announced 😭 I’m so ready to pull the trigger but need that heat pump 🔥

thanks for the great tips. I lowered my trunk opening and the first time I used it in a parking lot I banged my head after putting something inside. Now I open the trunk all the way and move the car outside before I open the trunk.

Price are coming down fast, but you get what you pay for? The why: You pay the price of cheaper fuel in advance on the battery. You should now be able to find an electric car comparable to an ICE counterpart, but you might still be looking at that 3-6k price bump of the battery. If you only want a Tesla, you have to be honest and compare it to similar class ICE cars.

How about just putting a blind spot light in the mirror? It’s much easier for the driver and less distracting. How about more luxury features and fewer auto drive features which do not work well? How about a normal cruise control that doesn’t jerk to a stop unnecessarily?
looking at the mirror would be more distracting, the screen is closer to the road so it’d actually be better if they weren’t turning their head away from what’s in front of them.
@@patrick1007 having both systems, I must emphatically disagree. I have spoken to friends who also own both systems; they all agree with me. Glancing quickly at a side view mirror is less intensive than having to touch a screen at a specific point. Also people are mostly trained to look at side view mirrors, unless perhaps they are the rare person who has only driven a Tesla all their life.
In short, I own two Teslas, and these are a few items that I find quite frustrating regarding them. Another one is the useless waste of space on the dashboard for a cartoon image of your car in relationship to surrounding traffic. Another one is the inability to change the font size, so people over 50 can actually see the screen.
@@richardhead2318 well if you were to think of it logically no looking at the screen that’s right in front of you, the way you do with. rear view cam or your maps, looking slightly a couple inches down and to the right is less aggressive of a movement than looking all the way to the side, plus putting that light in is another part that would need fixed if broken, also they’re most likely adding an update soon to fix the cameras needing to be brought up manually, soon they’ll come up when you turn on your signal. overall it’s just a slight adjustment lol, if people over 50 could try and learn new things instead of forcing their older concepts/ideas on new innovative tech that would allow it to grow and become something wonderful but if we’re constantly dummying things down to just a light in a mirror every other car has, it’s not very tesla like, hence why they most likely will never add it.
@@richardhead2318 i’ve driven all kinds of cars Tesla’s are the best when it comes to blind spot monitoring because yes a little light is cute but actually being able to see i’m not going to get into an accident is much more preferable over just a light saying it’s safe for me to go this making me further turn my head around my shoulder to make the lane switch
