    Juan is absolutely on point here. I had the wired version of these and as a previous user of the first model I was expecting them to be as good as the Momentum ones with slightly stronger bass. What I got instead was the sound strongly inspired by Beats Solo 2 but not as overpowering on bass teritory. Whilst the first model absolutely worth every penny, especially with those strong mids and a foam like soft bass, these had a very solid and punchy bass in facor of a cery mediocre mids. A huge step back.

    I have been using these headphones for over a year now and I can honestly say they are awesome! Best part about the noise cancelling is that they work while connected via wire. Great for watching in flight movies and not knowing there was a screaming baby few rows behind. Bliss!

    Sweet review. For someone that listens to acoustic songs/covers, indie rock/pop and some hip hop, do you think the Momentum wireless or the Urabanites XL wireless is better for these types of songs?

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Izzan Zakaria It's a tough call. I think Urbanite is mid-range heavy and Momentum are bass heavy. Depends on what you prefer. Build quality on both are pretty fantastic.

    Finally a proper review, not just a presentation. I have always been qurious as to what works best with movies and gaming - 7.1 headsets or quality stereo headsets like the momentums. Have anyone tried both?

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +fnagdungdagint I haven't played with a lot of 7.1 headsets, but I would imagine it depends on the video stream. If it's only stereo, then "surround sound" headphones are just using stereo tricks and reverb to fake audio info around you.

  • @kritaphol

    Finally got your take on theses. I thought these would be my next purchase when they launched, but the more I research the further i draft away. I am now considering the Philips m2bt (which hasn't gotten any attention thus far and available for only 200 euros) or the B&O H8 for the signature spacious sound. You care to get your hands on them? The EL8 looks OK but after going wireless it's hard for me to bother with wires/among again. Good video as always.

  • @pilsnerpappa
    @pilsnerpappa 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Two questions.
    1. Im wondering. How are these for gaming when using bluetooth? Is there a sound delay that will cause problems playing team oriented FPS?
    I'm one of those guys who just hate to own a lot of "stuff". I've been more or less senile since the age of five :).... I can't keep track over more than a handful of stuff. I have spend half my life looking for my keys, my phone, my cap, my gloves etc..... So, if I can get rid of my gaming head set, my skype headset at work, my phone headphones and my dedicated audio-earphones, I don't care what the hell they cost. I pay anything, and won't care if they technically are overpriced :)

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +laoinjo I think it depends more on the device hosting the BT audio than the device receiving. I don't think I've ever had lag free game play audio on a mobile device for example.

    • @TheAlderFalder
      @TheAlderFalder 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, if you are planning on using those to listen to the game audio AND using them at the same time to communicate over skype, discord etc. with your teammates, then you‘ll be disappointed to know that they cannot handle that many bluetooth channels. So it‘s either game Audio oder voice chat. But not both. (On windows that is, haven‘t tried on Mac.... but nobody games on Mac anyways)
      What you CAN do is use those to listen to game audio and the voices of your friends incoming over the chat program, but you will need to use an external microphone, not the one‘s built in the earcups of the Sennheisers. I believe it is the bluetooth 4.2 which is the limiting factor.

  • @Jim00000

    Great review! You said the noise cancelling is almost as good as bose qc15 or 25? That's amazing.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup. Bose has a clear advantage as none of their noise reducing products are wireless. You get a little hiss from Bluetooth and a little "air" from ANC, so Sennheiser is working from a wireless deficit. It's almost as good at reducing noise in the environment as Bose though.

    I don't like their sound... too much mids, the bass was kinda muddy and the trebles are too "shy" making these feel very unbalanced.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy

      Chechus Very similar sound profiles, but I kinda felt the wireless were a touch bassier than I remember the wired cans being. Unfortunately I wasn't able to compare side by side.

  • @oboyy
    @oboyy 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    How are they for super long sessions, do they remain comfortable?

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      oboyy A little ear sweat of course, but they're more comfortable than the wired version IMO.

    • @oboyy
      @oboyy 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      JuanBagnell How so? Aren't they identical?

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      oboyy Very similar but Sennheiser did address complaints that the ear cushion was too stiff in the wired version. The wireless require almost zero break in.

    • @oboyy
      @oboyy 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      JuanBagnell Aha ok, I did not know. I am probably getting a wired pair myself but I still haven't made my mind up between the first and second generation, I am really torn. Half the price with a cooler colorway vs. guaranteed comfort with the bigger pads. :/

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      oboyy So the original pads aren't as comfortable out of the box, but that just means you need to spend more time breaking them in. You'll just want to factor that "time" into your "cost", if that's something you're worried about.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  9 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @STOG01
      @STOG01 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, was researching these and as far as I can see - you can send them in to a certified dealer and they will handle the replacement of the batteries.
      PS: I wonder, if it's a hassle, would they just give you a new pair?:)

    • @MrDjrepz
      @MrDjrepz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought b&o h8 in the end. It's much better in comparison to sennheiser in terms of sound signature, sound stage, build quality & interchangeable parts. Since b&o just released their over the ear version. It would definitely be the right choice.

      +EviL Ras How was it?

    • @evilras
      @evilras 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Golden Pixels the h8 are a decent set of cans, and there's a quick review of them on my channel. I just find the over ear style of the sennheiser more comfortable. And the bass response is better. Whereas the noise cancelling and touch controls are better on the h8. I tried the h7 too, but those are too neutral for my tastes. Its also worth noting that both the sennheiser and h8 sound much better on my galaxy s6 edge (with aptx codec) than my wifes iphone.

    • @P.7005
      @P.7005 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      EviL Ras OK thanks. I wish there was aptx on my 6p but oh well. I'm getting them soon with a pair of Audio Technica M50x so I can comepare and stuff. Thanks for the feedback!
