There was a firmware update for them. The EQ now has 5 bands, there's a sound personalization option and the connection and switching between devices is much more stable now. Also, the EQ is saved on the headphone. So set it once, connect to your laptop, tablet etc. and it sounds the same.

I've had these for a couple weeks now, and still blown away by the sound quality and battery life. The only issue I'm facing, which didn't seem to occur initially, is they tend to stay connected to my phone occasionally after putting them in their case. Doesn't have to be upside down, the case can be laying flat on the table and it will still stay connected.

I've been using these headphones day-in and day-out for the past year. What I've learned is that these are designed to pair to the same mobile device you want to play music on and have the app installed on. I do not. I pair them to a blue tooth transmitter connected to an audio system then I sit in an easy chair to get lost in the music. Sometimes. The app, which I have to pair my headphones to if I want to change settings, has serious problems and gets worse with each release. On head detection shuts them off even when they are on my head. I can no longer "disable" the noises from receiving e-mail, messages and phone calls. I got around this by installing the app on a non-phone tablet configured without e-mail. Why do I put up with this? Because the sound is amazing! Blows away anything else at this price point. In the end, with my work-arounds (a tablet that also serves as a remote control), I can get lost in some seriously good music and heck, I don't even open the app anymore. The settings remain intact between sessions.

I actually appreciate when headphone really press against my head strongly, like the AKG K518LE did.
It literally gives like 15% more bass, energy saving because you can step down the volume by one or two notches, better ANC simply through superior isolation and zero issues with having to readjust the headphones. And if you have any tendency to protruding ears it will even help with that a little bit.

Had these for about a month now, couple of small gripes with them, one of which is that I don't find them to be very loud. Meaning that I find myself having to have the volume above 90%, whereas the Sony XM4's are pretty loud at 50% volume.
The other issue is the single on/off button, can't tell if they're on or off most of the time and as others have stated, they intermittently stay on when in their case.
Other than that, the audio quality is typically Sennheiser quality and a pleasure to listen to without becoming fatigued.

I thought that my headphones were too quiet at max volume on the headset. Then I tried turning up the volume on my transmitting device (a tv soundbar) first, then allowed the headphones to connect to the soundbar by taking them out of the case. I found that the increased soundbar volume level made the max on the headphones much louder. My soundbar won't let you adjust the volume when it's in Bluetooth transmission mode so I have to set the volume in that order. To avoid blasting the soundbar at night, I set the tv to a soundless home screen before cranking the volume.

Auto pause is a nightmare, I constantly hear the headphones saying "mute on" during meetings. It also sometimes does not detect that I've removed the headphones from my head and continues playing music.
Headphones turns on in case. Never thought it'd be an issue but it auto plays the device it's connected to and ends up costing me data (I don't have unlimited data).
Noise cancelling is garbage, I can't believe it has trouble with noises from electric fans. Even putting the app to "MAX" wind noise reduction still sucks.
The Sennheiser app on iphone feels laggy, whenever you adjust a setting, there's a delay before the headphones react to it.
The "touch" controls are too sensitive. If I even move the M4's on my head some touch control acivates.
Thick Earcups are warm. Much warmer than QC45.
Clamping force is not as bad as Airpods Max, but It's higher than QC45. I can wear the headphones for 4-6 hours before the sides of my head feel tight, where as the QC45 I could keep on for 16 hours straight.
Sound Quality is overrated. It has a very slightly larger soundstage than Airpods Max, but the voices are clearer on the Airpods Max.
For Home: Airpods Max > Sennheiser M4 > QC 45
For Travel: QC 45 > Sennheiser M4 (because of battery life) >> Airpods Max
Noise Cancelling: Airpods Max > QC 45 >>>> Sennheiser M4

First make sure you’re on firmware 2.9.12…the automute should work relatively better than your experience here. I think the only issue with automute is the sensor algorithm (sometimes when I yawn, it thinks I have removed the headphones!). Once it has muted, the momentum4 has never restarted playback on my iPad without without my clicking on the touch control.
The real issue you brought forth is the auto power ON while in the case upside down. That needs to be corrected (as soon as the logo side of the case is downwards, the headphone will turn on, which makes it a nightmare to carry in a bag)…and it appears it doesn’t auto turn OFF after the set 15min interval while in the case!)

Thanks for the comparison/breakdown as I was debating between XM5 and M4. Few Qs if that is ok.
      1. Do the momentum 4 have connection drops or issues with connecting to either the phone or a macbook via BT?
      2. Can you totally switch off Voice Assistant on the Momentum 4? Major point for me as I couldn't care less about any of these assistants and I dont want them "listening" to me.
      3. Do the momentum 4 switch on automatically when not in use and connect to paired devices like a phone as has been reported by multiple people?
      4. Is the Adaptive ANC on the XM5 bothersome or does it do the job well to changes in ambient noise? I ask this because I understand that you can't control the ANC levels on these.
      5. Same Q as #2 for the XM5 :)

The Sennheiser Momentum 4 headphones offer excellent audio quality for music. However, they may not be the best choice for video calls or meetings, particularly in an open office environment, as the microphone tends to pick up surrounding noises, including conversations from colleagues. Additionally, they are not suitable for sports activities due to overheating issues. It would be beneficial for Sennheiser to consider reintroducing physical buttons for volume and other controls.

Ok, finally got them and had a first real test on a couple of flights listening to some progressive metal music (Evergrey, Atlantic album). @@DoktorTomcat Nice. How about the bugs that people are talking about? Do you experience them? For example, connectivity problems, headphones automatically connect to your phone while in case or auto pause, when you take out your headphones from your head and they dont pause.
And how about the loudness? Are these headphones loud enough? Ty if you respond. )

    • @DoktorTomcat
      @DoktorTomcat ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@carlX53 hey. No issues with connectivity so far, but I'll have to do some testing on other topics you mention. As for the loudness - I am a metalhead - I am used to loud music. But I prefer enjoying the music as well and with too high levels, the sound will usually start getting distorted either by the equipment or ear physiology. They are definitely not the loudest headset on the market. However, when you activate ANC and push up the volume (I actually don't go all the way up) and when you pair that with the quality of the sound, I don't think you'll wanna want higher volume. At least I don't miss it. Re the quality - for me, it's like rediscovering my favorite albums, because using normal speakers (or car ones) I never could hear certain details in the songs, that are really sharp and clear with Momentum 4!

I've heard this can happen with this model and the quality control isn't great. Contacting support is your best option if the firmware isn't up to date.

    I really liked them.
Then the pair i was wearing, exploded.
Shorted out with a bang while i was wearing them. Really hurt my ears.
The replacement fired static into my left ear.

Sony can do a lot of good things, but one thing they always fail at is SOUND! Those who have personally compared many headphones will understand me... However, Sony lives off a paid opinion.

    The analog cable isn't proprietary.
Its just a 3.5mm to 2.5mm audio cable
