    I own some Sennheiser RS 170s and they are amazing. Use them for everything and love being able to walk around without wires to go out to the balcony or work in the kitchen.

    Best audio reviews -> Innerfidelity.
    Best PC case & peripheral reviews -> Hardware Canucks.
    Either way, for "some reason" i find every single review really enjoyable. I love the balance between the overview of a product and the actual review with personal thoughts.

      HardwareCanucks Your audio reviews are excelent for mainstream users, but sometimes it's just isn't enough for people who want to really understand how a headphone sounds like.
      Measurements help a ton, but i wouldn't suggest buying equipment just for those measurements. (this isn't your job and people won't understand them anyway...)
      So... let's say that Tyll (innerfidelity) helps me understand how a headphone sounds like without testing it.
      However, if you wanted to review a headphone with more details, then the video would be a bit boring for the people who don't care.
      In conclusion: Different channels for different people. You could spend about 1 more minute describing the sound but no more than that. That would be perfect. like...seriously perfect... :P
      You have a beautiful channel with near damn perfect reviews! You obviously don't need to change almost anything IMO.

    I got these in christmas couple years ago and I wouldn't change these into anything else.
    These headphones + DFX Audio Enhancer + fake leather earpads = Perfect for everything.

    Nice review. I'm waiting on some RS 120's to arrive as we speak. Probably won't have quite the audio quality of the RS 165's, but should be good enough for watching TV.

    Sennheiser's main industry is microphones for concerts and studio, and of course high end headphones and amplifiers. But has recently made a move into the consumer/prosumer area which they've done a good job their products.

    I have the RS 160's - the slightly cheaper model. They're decent-ish, I'm happy with them. Sound is very good. And clear, wow! Range is not the greatest, about 60ft, And like these RS 165's, the build quality is not on par with the expensive Senn's.

    Hello!
    Thanks for a review , that was very useful.
    Maybe somebody have any idea - is there any difference of bass between RS 165 and two RS 175 in normal mode (bass boost turned of)?
    I prefer clear and bold sound in middle and highs that is not overpowered by bass. I have heard the sound of RS 165 (ordered from Amazon, but I`m considering to send those back and exchange for RS 175), and I`m more or less pleased with that, but the design of RS 175 is of more higher quality.
    I would like to go for RS 175, but if bass in normal mode is more pronounced than in RS 165, than I would like to stick with 165. So I`m a bit perplexed.

    Would these be good for gaming? I'm not sure if 7.1 will really offer a huge advantage over stereo or not.

    • @deadbob54
      @deadbob54 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gman7e I'd just imagine the headphones running out of battery when you're gaming. 7.1 audio is good for competitive fps's, otherwise there's not really any point in surround, unless you have music that is made for 7.1 audio. I have the ATH-M50x headphones, and they seem to have better build quality than the sennheisers but I can't say anything about the sound..

  • @Ralphwijkens
    @Ralphwijkens 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good headphone but with 1 gruesome minus. It automatically controls the volume on DB, which has a very negative effect on dynamic music pieces. As soon as you go from a quiet or softer piece of music to a fuller piece where more instruments are added, the volume suddenly goes back so it kills the dynamics. You can not turn it off and with that it has become a very expensive headphone for the TV for me. Listening to music with the HDR165 is worthless ...

    The key issue is RF (radio frequency) and Interference. I used the Sennheiser 120 range and was disappointed with the interference. Is there some way to measure the strength of the signal between models as an indication of reduced interference?

    Hey Dimitri! (or Edgar, or whoever is available :) I have quick question about wireless headphones.
    If I had a wireless pair, that also had an aux port in it, like the SteelSeries H Wireless.. And I bought a mod mic, like the one you guys did a review of a while back, if I could shorten the wire, couldn't I plug the ModMic into the aux port on the headphones? That way it would be better than the included Mic, and I'll still be able to get up and walk around..

    I regret buying these after 10 seconds of use.
    The only positive thing about these is crystal clear highs and mid.
    These are not headphones for music listening. (TV watching documentaries at best.)
    The bass is non existent, even with the "bass" on. All you get is a small rumble and if you try to volume it up, the sound cracks and bass is destroying the overall sound???
    I thought my audio settings in pc were set wrong, nope. I just don't feel the bass.
    Not the same category of headphones but my Sony mdr v55 delivers a heavy bass punch and the sound doesn't crack even on highest volume.
    Not a product for me.
    I wish I've done more research before buying.

      EpicDoom#Road2Silver1 The PS4 and Xbox One look pretty different if you ask me. Their height, thickness, button placement, overall shape (PS4 is parallelogram-like, while the XBone is more rectangular), and the PS4's prevalent front slit differentiate the two quite clearly in my opinion. I reckon the RS 165 and the Chimaera share more in common than the two consoles. Their base's shape, their similarly almost hexagonal ear cups, charging mechanism, and button placement on both the headset and the base are quite reminiscent of each other. Maybe it's just my biased perception as an old Chimaera owner.
