I genuinely have no idea why the music is so good, I have no nostalgia for the bionical series but I have no hesitation to say that is an amazing soundtrack
Id like em to come back, but I feel like the last of the movies not being *that* good aswell as taking the story and cranking it to 12 kind of gave Bionicle a less than stellar reputation hence the decrease in sales
One thing that always struck me as weird about this game was that _Hewkii_ was the one you needed to switch to to build things, when NUPARU was the engineer in the actual lore! Dude was able to build a robot suit! In a cave! With a box of scraps!
@@fosterbennington6405 for me it's having multiple characters that were either dead for a thousand years by this point or on the toa's side appear as bosses that I found enraging.
@bencekrepuska1735 Basically on Metru Nui, half of the Matoran by 3 elements each in two factions started a civil war. The war meant Mata Nui started dying, resulting in a Team of Toa with one named Jovan amongst them travelling to Voya Nui and using the Mask of Life to save Mata Nui from death. As this was happening, Makuta decided to lock the instigators of the Civil War in a vault of the Onu Metru archives where the Rahi Beasts inside essentially mauled them to death. The war stopped afterwards, but this caused the Matoran to fear Makuta (unaware that he would soon pose as Turaga Dume in part his efforts to overthrow Mata Nui)
That guitar sounds so much like tom morello ( rage against the machine/audioslave ) and I'm loving it. It has absolutely no business being that kickass
My brother and I still come back to this game to 100% it every few years. The music goes hard! Another thing I love is the map design. Just about every map in the game starts were the previous map left off, and it really makes it feel like you're traveling through the island. Now a part of that is because the 2nd and 3rd level for each world were originally one before being split in development, but they aren't the only time you see it. The first Avak level ends with the elevator you start the second one on, the Vezok boss fight takes place down a hallway from where you fought Roodaka, ect. It's really cool! Unlike Mata Nui and Metru Nui we were never given much details on the locals of Voya Nui, so things like a dam and logging yard really make the place feel lived in. Would explain how the Piraka power that giant stronghold! The game's one issue: the blatant disregard for the lore, most notable in the enemy selection. The Bohrok were slumbering during the Voya Nui arc and had no nests on the island, the Vahki had all been dismantled 1,000 years prior, and while there were Visorak on the island there were nowhere near the hordes seen here. Nidhiki, Krekka, and Sidorak were all dead. The Rahkshi never worked with the Piraka, nor were any on the island. Roodaka was off doing her own thing at the time, and Axon was a good guy! Brutaka and the Piraka are the only boss fights that make sense. 4:27 well at least that bit's canon ;) 8:51 The blue guy's purpose, believe it or not, is bosses. No matter which weapon you use you will always deal 1 heart of damage to the bosses when their shields go down. Her weapon fires the fastest in the game, so instead of skillfully timing your attacks you can just hold down attack and stare at them and the frame they give you an opening they're hit. The red one's similar. 10:27 Now that you mention it, yeah probably! Even ignoring this non-canon game, in the canon Piraka commercials we also see Thok mess with the cameraman. It was this little spider drone thing if I remember right. 11:57 I remember one time playing this level on one these walls we glitched out and fell off and, like, went out of the map. It was spooky! 15:57 Unironically in the next year of the story Jaller considered unleashing a nuke to kill a bunch of fish people and Gali went through with dropping a nuke on literal Hell-itself.
This and Transformers Armada were the first video games I remember playing on the ps2; along with Namco Museum, but I liked Bionicle and Transformers. I did also have an Armored Core game, but I lost the disc, so I don’t remember which one it was.
God, this was my first favorite game on the Xbox 360 next to Halo and Gears of War. I remember playing this so much, the in game cutscenes and music lives in my head rent free, especially the Piraka themes as well. Doesn't help I was a major Bionicle nerd at the time and was reading every book I could get my hands on. Also fun fact, the people who made the three Bionicle movies (Mask of Light, Legends of Metru Nui, and Web of Shadows) made a Warhammer 40K movie called Ultramarines with Sir John Hurt in it. Yes, they made a Warhammer movie with John Hurt voicing one of the space marines in it.
@@etiennevandijk1141 Surprisingly, he voiced Chaplain Carnak, one of the surviving Imperial Fists. Though you're right about them sounding the same as three voice actors voiced roughly eight in total (as in one voiced three, one voiced three, and one voiced two hence why they sounded so similar.)
I remember one of the things that kept my attention the hardest throughout the years was how hard the music went. For a bionicle game it was entirely unexpected, but amazing.
