      @@insertnamehere2635 Sure but i think what they're saying is TWD Season Finale didn't seem like a *Series* Finale. Like the way they ended that episode leaves so much room for a season 12 instead they're jumping into spinoffs and movies. Not how I imagined the series ending. Even giving way to new series in the universe it didn't feel like a finale.

    Jeffrey Dean Morgan said it would’ve been better if they hadn’t announced the spinoff shows before the final season aired and that got him in hot water from AMC executives, but I agree with him. Knowing that the main characters survive the finale kind of spoils it and takes away from the drama and tension, y’know? Imagine how much better a scene would be if you don’t have that information and you’re thinking “Oh shit, is so-and-so gonna die here??”

      Yeah. Like the scene where negan has to kneel down in alexandria. Jeffrey acted the shit out of it, and i enjoyed the symbolism very much! I even thought it would be nice for maggy to see that! but at the same time i was like "oh. Am i supposed to care about him right now? Come on. We already know he won't die."

    The scene with Connie leaning on the speaker is because she is death. She can’t hear, deaf people still listen to music, they tend to put their hands on speakers of doors in cars to feel the vibrations. Therefore I think the scene is to show that she’s feeling the vibration off the speaker.

    I mean rosita wasn't my favorite character or anything. But just knowing she's a good mother and a badass made my like her character. She wasn't overly annoying and she even made Judith cheer up. I thought I wouldnt care if she died but it's how she died that makes it special. I'd say Rosita probably had the most heart felt death. She got to see that family danner that negan thought was impossible. She got to talk to her love ones and say goodbye to her baby. It was sad but beautiful end which is fitting for a finale. All in all it was a good ending for the show.

  • @SkaterBlades
    @SkaterBlades ปีที่แล้ว +64

    I liked that the sniper maggie uses intending to kill Pamela was the same one Gabriel took to shoot carver with back in 11x09 and then negan telling her that prison is worse than death for Pamela, he's talking from his experience as he used to be like Pamela. Negan pointing this out finally brings maggie around to ricks way of thinking after season 8.
    EDIT: Also when Daryl says "We ain't the walking dead', that's lifted straight from the comics as that is a part of Rick's speech to the commonwealth where he finally realises that they can have a safe and happy life now with and at the commonwealth. The walking dead in universe means that the survivors are living on borrowed time, it's inevitable that they will die soon and don't have a future. When he says they aren't the walking dead it means they have a future now, something to look forward to as they aren't going to randomly be killed in their sleep or getting food anymore. It's not a contradiction to Rick, it's coming to the end of that thinking he adopted from his grandfather

    • @denisucuuu
      @denisucuuu ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sure... but thats not what "the walking dead" means. it just means that they dont have to be inhumane anymore

    • @SkaterBlades
      @SkaterBlades ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @MITREA DENIS ANTONIO False, direct quote from Rick "He said he was dead the minute he stepped into enemy territory, every day he woke up and told himself 'Rest in peace now get up and go to war' and then after a few years of pretending he was dead, he made it out alive"
      Literally none of that directly points at the morality of what his grandfather was doing but it points to him believing himself to already be dead to make coping with the fact he'd likely die much easier. The survivors essentially liberating the commonwealth is the end of the war so to speak. They are no longer going to die for sure, they're no longer on borrowed time. We could say that the borrow time makes them do inhumane things but that's not the main message

  • @Adrian-bm2bu
    @Adrian-bm2bu ปีที่แล้ว +308

    There was a really big missed opportunity to end Judith’s story. When she was shot at the end and taken to the hospital, she should have been left behind as everyone leaves to fight walkers. Maybe Daryl went to help the group fight off the walkers and accidentally gets blocked off from Judith. Forced to flee the scene, they have to assume the walkers got to her. It’ll be a sad and emotional moment but everything still could have ended more so the same. Cut to a shot of Judith walking out of an empty hospital, and a wasteland all around her.

    Rosita may not have had the biggest role in the show, but she WAS the calvary so many times. She was a Jack-of-all-trades (like Eugene), and shows she’s ready to sacrifice herself for someone else several times… sometimes to the point of being reckless. She does not hesitate to do the heavy lifting when it comes down to it and puts herself out there. She is caring and repeatedly shows her humanity, but doesn’t let people get away with shit. She is eager to teach the Alexandrians self defense so they can make the entire group stronger. She seems to have true inner strength, but can take care of business. She was one of my most favorite characters, and I’ll always miss her.

    I just want a new walking dead series that focuses on a small close-knit group that's constantly moving around and trying to survive. The walkers became more of an inconvenience than a threat after season 3.
    The Walking Dead was at its best when the zombies were the threat and the survivors doing their best to survive.
    And I hate that they brought back the variants only at the very end. Would've been nice to see more of them

      @juanmanuelcardona19 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sadly that won’t happen since they are focusing on larger and larger communities now. I think the survival part is kind of over and we are in the “rebuilding of the world” arc of TWD. I personally wouldn’t be surprised if Tales of TWD gets retconned and the group finds way to kill giant herds of walkers and they retake the world. In the new Daryl series they mentioned that scientists were creating super zombies that only focused on killing other walkers and once their job was done, they blew up. I think that’s what the survivors will use to take the world back from the dead, it’ll be the dead killing the dead which is so ironic

But again, they did Carl dirty. Not even an honorable mention or flashback to his character that I can recall.

      I agree even though I've never liked Gabriel and I never understood what Rosita saw in him however this story arc was amazing.
      I still don't like this character and hope he's not in any of the spin offs. I do hope that down the road we get a TWD Season 12 that focuses on the children all grown up and how they improved society in the future beyond their parents achievements and how they prepare their children for picking up the torch. I want to see Lydia have a family with Elijah and watch Gracie & Judith remain BFFs for life. Watching RJ grow into becoming Rick Grimes 2.0 with Judith keeping him grounded.
      Connie was also one of my favorites and I want to see her and Daryl have that happy ending someday. I also hope Carol gets her own spin off at some point so in the story time line she is the first person Daryl goes to see once he finds his way back from Europe when everyone is much older. I really want to see Carol become a wizen old woman filled with knowledge backing the plays and watching over the adult children of the original series. I want to see her truly become the Den Mother (matriarch) of the next generation.

    however i do agree with you about rosita's death. i liked her a lot from seasons 4-7 but she never really became a favorite so her death wasn't that impactful and felt a little bit drawn out. but i just feel like it shouldn't have been the single MAJOR death, killing off gabriel, aaron or even just jerry would have definitely made this feel more like a finale.

I was like 90% Luke was gone and didn't give af but they put on a good ass performance and made me care. Was a little bummed we didn't see Mercers reaction to rosita death but pretty dope "finale" only REAL like WTF? Complaint I had was the makeup. I may be speaking outta school here but pretty sure they've won awards for makeup n practical effects yet... ahhh ok so that black eye on Darrel shouldn't be that prevalent or dark. He got knocked out and woke up same day. Aint no way it'd be that black. I love ur channel and can't wait for the spinoffs. But 6 episode rick n michonne spinoff don't seem like enough to tell the story amd do it justice. What are the chances they doin these 3 spinoffs to build hype and interest and roll the story into a real movie theater movie for the absolute finale? I know gimple n em still want them movies. They been saying forever that they want a walking dead universe akin to the MCU so I'm sure that's their endgoal. Idk just spitballin I suppose. Thanks again T³ can't wait for more from u.🖤🖤🖤

    I actually don't quite agree with your analysis of Rosita's death. It was the appropriate amount of time and actually had a bittersweet meaning to it. She is a great B character, though under-utilized at times(though they all are at times due to the bloated cast). She's on par with Eugene, Aaron, and Gabriel.
    Her death was bittersweet because she actually was the only death I can recall where she went relatively peacefully. Comfortable in a bed, her daughter safe, saying goodbye to everyone she loves, and hopeful that things will be safe from then on. I think it was very relavent that the last death we see was not gruesome or terribly painful but peaceful. It had importance and that was chosen purposefully.
    With that said, I was totally devastated (I really just did not want to see another child be orphaned). I think a more fitting death that would have held importance would have been Eugene. His whole character arc was about cowardice vs bravery. Seeing him sacrifice himself and go out a hero would have been more fitting to me out of all the available characters (not that I particularly want to see him die but if it had to be an important character without the ones getting a spinoff).

      I respectfully have to disagree.
      While we have some closure for characters like Ezekiel, Aaron, Lydia, Mercer, Connie, Etc, they are all the minor characters in the show.
      The main ones (Daryl, Maggie, Carol, Negan, of course Rick and Michonne) aren’t given even an ounce of closure. It doesn’t feel like a series finale because these characters have unfinished arcs and so many different questions that were set up even in just the past few episodes weren’t answered.
      As a season finale, I think this is a good episode. As a series finale, it doesn’t provide enough closure for the main characters, and that’s great because we’re getting more!
      But overall, nothing would’ve made this feel like a series finale to me unless Rick and Michonne were reunited with everyone, primarily their children.

      @@thethriftytypewriter I don't think because they're leaving / going to the spinoffs means they didn't get closure, that final dialogue between Maggie & Negan where she tells him "I can't forgive you" is closure for those two. Daryl's final moment with Carol before riding off into the distance was closure for him. And the final "We're the ones who live" compilation with Rick & Michonne (which was way more than I ever expected us to get in this episode btw) was closure on where they've been, their fates, and yes, it does setup for their spin-offs, but I don't see that as lacking closure, their story isn't done yet, but in terms of the main show, it is.
      We'll see what else gets explored in their spin-offs, but they did an amazing job at wrapping the show's final arc with the Commonwealth and a glimpse into what's to come.
      Getting the CRM back for the finale was huge too, and the amount of new footage we got there went above and beyond my expectations, I was genuinely expecting a couple second end-credit scene with little-to-no dialogue that just showed Rick.
      The whole reunion between Rick & Judith (RJ too, who he's never met yet) is gonna be a huge moment, but I never expected that to happen in this episode, we still didn't even know what happened to him after the bridge, so getting that reunion this early would kind of kill-off the hype surrounding us watching their show, cause we'd be like "oh, welp, they reunited, that's it for me". - this moment will come, I just didn't see a place for it in the main show, especially right after the Commonwealth arc.

    I'm pretty sure B-17 was just the command to round up the herd around the commonwealth so that Pamela could initiate a lockdown. Also, that scene of Connie wasn't making a joke of her. I believe she was feeling the vibrations of the speaker to know that it was working. Overall I think this was a solid final episode. And I think Rosita was a crushing death, in my opinion anyway. She's been there since season 4 and she's had way more great moments than you say she did, imo. I just wish there were more deaths, and that more characters got a nice wrapped up ending. Gabriel, Negan, Mercer, and Rosita and Eugene are the only characters I can think of that had solid endings. Most other characters seemed to not have much to do, which isn't surprising considering so many of them were completely underutilized for most of their time on the show, like Magna and Luke.

    When Mercer said that Pamela left thousands of people to die, he was referring to the majority of the Commonwealth she abandoned by calling all the soldiers to protect only the Estates where she was. Not just the people immediately outside that gate.

    I'm sorry, you content is usually really good but a lot of the issues you bring up for this episode are very pedantic and some criticisms are simply wrong. Sorry for the long post, but I feel your criticisms were a bit harsh. If you get to the end, thanks for reading lol
    For instance, it is easily inferred from the conversations in the episode that Mercer could get them inside the estates due to the loyalty he has with Commonwealth soldiers. You also criticise Daryl for 'leaving' after he said he wouldn't, when in actuality, at the end of the episode he is doing what Daryl has always done (which is scouting). I just assume he was saying bye to everyone because he goes away for longer than he used to when scouting. Again subtleties with the dialogue give this away, such as him telling Carol they'll see each other again, Connie asking him how the frontier is, Daryl saying that if he sees anything he'll bring Rick or Michonne home (not that he is leaving to bring them home). While we (as viewers) know this isn't the case and that Daryl is leaving, from a narrative standpoint the characters don't. Ever since the prison, Daryl has always left/been the one to leave to look for supplies (or people, later in Seasons 6-7).
    I can understand your gripe with Connie's group, particularly Magna and Luke. However, Lydia was not upset about Luke and Jules, she was upset of the thought of what happened to them happening to her boyfriend. Again, this is easily inferred by the dialogue.
    For the whole 'we ain't the walking dead' bit, Rick said 'we are' in reference to doing what they need to in order to survive until they don't need to just survive anymore, hence the switch in the saying. But, from that scene in Season 5, Daryl has always held that viewpoint of opposition - it's just that it fits better here. I've heard people complaining about how it changed from the source material from 'we aren't' to 'we ain't' but, let's be real, they can't change the way a character talks/their mannerisms just for one bit of dialogue - it would have come out even more clunky.
    The criticisms about Connie and the speaker, i'm not sure where that is coming from? I watched it an assumed she was setting up the main speaker due to being deaf - as others would be pained/uncomfortable with the level of noise? What makes you think it isn't working?
    Obviously, after the time skip it's the Commonwealth... And if you took the time to open your eyes, you'd see Lydia has a fake arm when hugging Judith.
    My only other criticism is that your reaction to Rick/Michonne returning makes it quite obvious that you've gone into this finale with clear expectations that weren't met and a bias that it was going to be objectively bad if your expectations weren't met. Your 'bad ending' due to 'bad writing' is a bad ending for you as it didn't give you everything you expected. Not that it was due to objectively bad writing. The writing was a lot better this episode (and season), and this was a fairly good ending for the show considering the objectively bad writing earlier in the show (and other circumstances such as Andrew Lincoln wanting written out for a few years for personal reasons). Angela Kang had her work cut out for her to make this a success and I think she's done a fantastic job in redeeming this show with what she had to work with. Sure there have been questionable decisions under her leadership but, I mean, it could have been an ending akin to that of GOT.
    I respect some of your opinions, but some of the things you claim as bad writing aren't really bad writing - they're just bad in your subjective opinion. My point being, it wasn't objectively bad.

      All pretty fair points. And you are absolutely correct I went in with astronomical expectations because at the end of the day, I want to be as excited and delighted by this as every other fan, but my expectations weren’t met.
      That being said, I don’t think this is a bad finale, I just don’t think that this wrapped up our characters or story in a manner that I expected it to. I’m very glad to see that lots of people did enjoy the finale and got their closure from it, but personally I didn’t, and given that the “universe is expanding” this episode was never going to give absolute complete closure to anyone.
      I respect your comment and willingness to point out your facts in a fair manner, and perhaps I went a bit over the top in some examples, but my opinions are my opinions, and they don’t have to be shared by everyone. Opinions on this topic are all very clearly varied, and all come from the same place: our love for The Walking Dead.

      @@thethriftytypewriter Having read it back my comment sounded a lot more aggressive at points that I meant lol - and yeah for sure, like I said, i respect your opinions that are subjectively based rather than objectively based. Sorry you didn't seem to enjoy it as much as others, but I guess when writing a show this big you can't please absolutely everyone. Especially for a show that's been going on around 12 years now.
      A lot of the subjective opinions you shared were very valid. I think more closure could have been achieved if, for example, Rick's body was never found and we never saw the Jadis scene (leaving Rick's fate a complete mystery). Or if Michonne left after finding Rick's stuff (again leaving her fate a complete mystery, known only to Judith). All of that, with a reveal of what was going on with Rick and Michonne in the finale, while keeping it a mystery, could have worked better from a closure standpoint (and maybe, not telling us about the spin offs till 2023).
      Characters leave the show/we never find out their fate (for absolute certain) all the time. Think of Dawn's group, or the Vatos (minus the deleted scene). While it would have been a much bigger deal to leave Rick and Michonne's fate a mystery - I think it may have sealed the deal a little bit more for people?
      After all is said and done, it could have been better but also could have been A LOT worse.

      @@iM_not_E Well, when Eugene and Rosita were talking, he mentioned 'swimming at oceanside' which would imply they'd be fine after Lance and Pamela's reign of terror. After all, they were taken over like Alexandria, but most likely liberated after the fall of Pamela's rule. Eugene's off hand mention implies this, otherwise, why would Rosita take her child to somewhere that 1) no longer exists or 2) isn't safe.
      I think the walker thing was to imply that the horde had variants, and set up them climbing the wall later on. Either that, or the knife walker was responsible for the first Commonwealth jeep that was taken out (just before Mercer's arrest). We did see walkers wielding rocks, which would have been low-key out of place without the knife walker to demonstrate there's more than one variant. Up until the knife walker, there was no sure way to know if the first variant walker we saw in S11 was an outlier or not. Would have been nice to see it again but, subjectively from my own opinion, it doesn't matter as much as some of the other points brought up in the video (and the comments after the fact).

    I actually missed the line where Judith tells Daryl Rick is alive and I don't think she actually says those words but that Michonne left to find him and she didn't tell him because she thought he would leave too, which is basically what she said all the way back in 10x15, so yeah this was a pretty underwhelming moment, it was the BIG REVEAL we've all been waiting for, how the characters and most importantly Daryl will find out Rick is alive, and it turns out to just be Judith who's been holding onto that secret all this time since Michonne left (which no one talked about until 11x23), and then he just leaves a year later with no leads. It's really poorly done tbh and that being the most important thing alongside who lives and dies and how the characters arcs are ended, it couldve been done SO much better. And we know Daryl ends up in Paris, and in interviews we've learned that Daryl doesn't even know how he ended up there, so is this literally the last time we see him until he magically wakes up in France???? If so this is underwhelming as fuck
