Bumbles McFumbles covered Sheen in the most recent episode on the silliest top tiers, but Sheen’s gist is this: INFINITES. AUTO COMBO INFINITES. Also his special, a super fast charge, ignores shields. And since Super Brawl is a single player game, if you’re against him, you’re against CPU Sheen, who doesn’t screw up in performance like a human player would.

"If everyone is broken, nobody is" leads to a pit of everyone just enacting their game plan instead of interacting with their opponents gameplan, but here the core universal mechanics (ie base line defense) are as out there and powerful enough to keep up with the tools handed out as peoples gameplans. (Except uranus)

I can understand it. If people didn't know about the reversal forward dash tech, she's just a grappler with a forward dash that's easy to just hit her out of, infinite or not.

This wasn't mentioned in the video, but that would be because this is the first fighting game made by Arc System Works! A lot of the DNA for Guilty Gear, especially the power of backdash throw, is right here in primal form. Fun fact: Daisuke Ishiwatari did QA on Sailor Moon S.

I got to play a bunch of Sailor Moon S for the first time way back at Canada Cup 2018. Absolutely magical game, and you'd see completely new broken/awesome tech in every match you watched. I was surprised at how good and smooth it felt to control, for a SNES-era fighting game. Definitely way ahead of its time in many ways. Most games that end up in (or purposely go for) the "everyone is OP so nobody is" state end up being somewhat unplayable, but this is one of the few gems that comes out pristine for it.
I love Sailor Moon S, what a special game. SMS was my first game and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I'm so thankful to everyone I've got to play and talk to about SMS. Find your local SMS scene, and if you can't find them, start one!

This is phenomenally well-edited; like, I've played it a bit before and talked about it with friends a lot, but this nails a *lot* of little details in an extremely breezy and fun way. Nicely done!
Sailor Moon S is surprisingly a fun fighting game for the Sailor Moon fans and the amount of jank it has is what makes it special, so yeah, it is broken in some ways for a SNES game but i vastly recommend the Sailor Moon Fighter S mod over the original. Also Uranus is the Akuma of this game.
I’m kinda glad my local runs sailor moon every now and then. Russell is always tough to beat, but lowkey he and many other passionate Canadian players are what got me so interested in sailor moon. Great video btw! The video gave me a better understanding on how broken this game is, but also fun! Gonna start practicing before our next sailor moon tournament :3

I play this game occasionally on my SNES Classic, it’s fun but man does the CPU destroy you and takes advantage of the tech in this video, but one thing I love about the game is it shows you the commands in pause menu. They really should make Sailor Moon Collection with the Beat’em Ups, Fighting Games and the Another Story RPG.
I love this game. Seeing so many of these combos and strats broken down and explained and showing just how good (broken) they are is crazy and fascinating. I’d love to get a re-release of this game someday, it deserves it. Great video! Loved every second of it. 😊
I really wish modern fighting games started looking back at the funny kusoge and the things that make people still play them and polished them up a little. I want a modern genuinely fucked up but largely balanced fighting game.
That's the conclusion we hoped people would come to after watching this video! The mechanics make it possible to find counterplay to almost anything broken (except Uranus, who breaks the system with forward dash). It's pretty balanced once you put time into it, but it is a LOT of knowledge checks haha.
I'm glad there was one Whirled Chicken in there, even if it's not what's busted about Uranus. She has a projectile, yeah, whatever, that's in her kit too, why not.

I'm surprised by just how balanced this game turned out to be. Sure, Uranus is on another level, but the typical kusoge has at least a few unviable trash characters, and Sailor Moon S just... doesn't have them. What a funny game.
The most fascinating thing about Sailor Moon S is that it has so many systems that, by themselves, sound like awful ideas -- but somehow combine to create meaningful counterplay and depth. This game is kind of great by happy accident (and perhaps a few keen observations in QA), but compared to MOST other fighters on the SNES (and a couple in arcades), it actually holds up really well to grown adults trying to solve it decades after its release.

Genuinely DNF Duel would be this but they stepped too far with the last patches. If you delete like 3 characters, you've got it.
It's wild to me that every single character has a broken mechanic, but Mercury's mechanic is the only one that is negative for HER and not the enemy.
Mercury's broken mechanic is her speed (she be zoomin) but that's a little hard to explain in a video format like this.
