Meloetta should have had a key item dedicated to it that allows it to switch between its Aria and Pirouette formes; it could be the guitar that the musician at Castelia used. Relic Song switching Meloetta’s formes in battle is too awkward and wastes a move slot especially considering that both formes do completely different things.
Either that, or maybe another signature attacking move that behaves similar to tera blast, meaning Meloetta can play an interesting form of mixed attacker 🤔
and headbutt ... and then troll the entire metagame with 60% flinch chance .... wait, why does that sound so familiar? -all hail twave rest snore meloetta-
Same. Even just a special slot for a type changing music note that changes Meloetta into whatever type she wants all to itself, so she can use another item too. And definitely buff that BST because 600 overall is not enough for her (and the other Mythical Pokemon anymore) and expand her movepool.
100 stats got very power creeped also a weakness to dark and or ghost can really hurt if the Pokemon doesn't have very high speed. The ubiquity of dark and ghost moves hurt these mythicals quite a bit. Meltan is just really difficult to evolve
Shaymins huge issue is that grass is *aweful* as your only STAB for a offensive pokemon without extra gimmics, since it is the single most resisted type in the game (grass, poison, bug, steel, fire, dragon and flying). It is expected to run into teams where half resist your STAB, with a double resist not beeing rare either. Thats why grass 'mons are either support/stall pokemon, or need a useful secondary typing+STAB or ability like Contrary...
Funnily enough my rarest shiny Pokémon that I didn't get from an event is a shiny Phione. Was mass breeding them for online trading and ended up getting a shiny. I believe I initially got the initial Phione from Wonder Trade. Somehow not hacked.
Meloetta: Gen 5 - UU Gen 6 - RU Gen 7 - RUBL Gen 8 - Not in the game Gen 9 - PU It had its time, but you can't always be in the same place. - Because in every Generation there is a strong power creep.
Celebi’s tool kit and stats being lacking in the modern era is certainly a big part of the problem, but it’s also worth noting that its viability in any given tier is also heavily dependent on Zarude’s presence nowadays too.
Meloetta needs a rework of her form change gimmick and some other minor additions to become at least OU relevant. Her form change should work with a non held item like deoxys; maybe a flute or something you keep in your bag to seap between Aria and pirouette. She stays in whatever form until you use relic song or the flute again out of battle. Relic song would be changed to 110 power and atk on the physical or special side depending on the higher offensive stat. Some movepool additions if she doesn't have them already: nasty plot, bulk up, swordance, aura sphere, agility, recover, drain punch, power up punch, psychic noise, u-turn, teleport.
I don't think Meltan is a fair option on this list. It's like calling Charmeleon bad. Of course it is! It's not fully evolved! The NFE Pokemon that we see in competitive play are the EXECPTIONS, not the norm!
@@mdm767I haven't used one in battle, but would consider using one soon in the Indigo Disk or in Black and White remakes if I can't get Victini. Some people just give Meloetta not so great moves. I would have to look at what are the best moves for Meloetta to use.
I'm fine with phione meltan and hoppa, they act as the sort of collector item baby counterparts to otherwise fantastic mons. Hoopa especially is cool because I always liked the idea of a ghost type that could become a dark type, like he gave up his intangibility for a physical body that made him even more powerful.
Aria Meloetta does make for a real nice late game cleaner, especially to back up King's Rock Beat Up mons like Fezandipidi and Charizard. Really wish it hadn't missed out on gen 8 because both Durant and alolan Persian got Beat Up and both are fantastic at abusing it.
I played a low tier draft league where Celebi and Shaymin were the same price. Celebi was 7th on the Pokémon MVP board, and Shaymin got 3 kills over the entire like 8 week season. The movepool really does make all the difference.
The weakest Mythical is easily Deoxys. It's name already has X and Y in it back to back but then ends it not with Z but instead with S. Truly wasted competitive potential.
Celebi had a very respectful career, fallen of in recent gens, but if they just gave it fairy typing, it could see a revival. Its loterally a fary, so it fits perfectly too.
"Lumineon syndrome", that kinda has an interesting ring to it actually... maybe FalseSwipeGaming can make a video to go further on that premise? Adapt; expand; and then you might just have something like the theorem series?!
Just so everyone is clear, mythicals are legendaries. I see too many people say they’re a separate thing as opposed to what they actually are (a subset)
just so everything is clear, mythicals have always been marketed as separate from legendaries in Japan, while they have often been called just "legendaries" outside of Japan, at least during the earlier generations. I also do believe that the most reasonable distribution would be to consider them a type of legendaries, alongside sub-legendaries and true/box-legendaries.
I think one Pokemon you may have overlooked for the top 5 is Diancie. It has the problematic lack of oomph of 100 base attacking stats but also with a slow 50 base speed and dreaded Rock typing. Still, a great video, and I enjoyed watching it!
Mega Diancie has a pathetic base 50 HP too. Rock/Fairy is a solid type combination and definitely one of the better Rock-Type combinations. Currently using one for my Pokemon Violet playthrough, and she was good in the game so far. I would honestly buff Diancie's BST to higher amounts since base 50 HP doesn't cut it. A base stat total of 600 doesn't cut it for Mythical Pokemon anymore, unless if it's for a middle stage of a Mythical Pokemon evolution line. Diancie should definitely get the same speed stat as Mega Diancie and buff Mega Diancie's base speed stat to 210. And definitely buff that HP to 250 to 300, anything higher than 50. And buff the Rock-Type (especially getting rid of all weaknesses it has execpt for Water and Grass since those 2 are the only ones that make sense to me) in general and make the Rock/Fairy-Type from solid to amazing. Mega Diancie saw better performance than regular Diancie in the competitive scene. Only if normal Diancie was seriously buffed for good.
I know everyone is gonna want a top 5 mythicals, but id love to see a few videos about how mythical pokemon would impact VGC, things like Arceus would be obviously cracked in gen 4 vgc, but im sure you guys could figure out a way to do interesting things with the idea

I’ve played so much Pokemon Auto Chess that I completely forgot that Meloetta Aria was part Psychic. In PAC it’s just Normal Sound, and adds Fighting to those two in Pirouette.
I feel like Phione was made at the last minute when Generation IV was in production. I literally forgot that it was a mythical, and the fact that you can only get it by breeding Manaphy and Ditto.
Wish these mons were more viable Here's how I'd buff these mons Love Meloetta My favourite Mythical Wish it was better though. Maybe if it had an ability that changed its form based on the type of move it used. For example if it used Close Combat, turns to pirouette form. Kind of like a variation of Protean but stats instead of type. They did it with Aegislash, why not Meloetta? And buff Relic song to have 20% base sleep chance. Also in case of Shaymin, make Seed Flare 100% accurate in grassy terrain. Celebi needs a special equivalent of the move Dire Claw that gives a volatile status instead; Confusion, Infatuation, Drowsiness. (Psychic types are immune) {Will infatuation work though? Is celebi genderless?} Hoopa needs a better ability. Maybe like an effect like Mind's eye but better, the moves used by this mon ignore type immunities. And give it the move Mystical Power. Meltan is literally meant to be weak and unevolved. Although just for fun, give it an ability like Moody that instead of boosts, will randomly make one of its base Stats (except HP) every turn to base 255 only for that turn while other stats remain the normal they are. Would be fun😂 As for Phione, Throw it away and never talk about it. It never happened. It doesn't exist
For Meloetta, I think Game Freak should rework its form mechanic to be something that can be changed via a key item outside of battle. That way it can remain in either Pirouette Forme or Aria Forme throughout a battle.
Don't worry, I'm going to give Celebi a hug because they deserve it. Plus a little treat too. Celebi deserves better in the main series. Give them a better movepool, buff both the Grass and Psychic-Types, buff its stats and like the other Pokemon in general, give Celebi a chance to have separate moveslots for them to have coverage moves without wasting slots.
Radical Red fixes Meloetta by having it retain it's form until Relic Song is used again, even outside battle so you can always start in Pirouette and even replace Relic Song
Another thing about meoletta aria form is that in gen 6, Megas got introduced which completely changed the meta, some of the frail psychic types that it was competing against got buffs, Mega Alakazam has like 150 speed, which is well enough to be out speeding most threats… and gardevoir also got the fairy type giving it powerful stab options against pesky dark and dragon types… yes Mega gengar exists but dose that really matter when gengar was meta defining?
Back to Meloetta, I have a question. With us being able to terraform them to a specific type. Like making her a pure psychic, fighting, or even a pure normal type. Would've this have helped her? At least with terraforming, you don't need to waste a turn to transform Meloetta into her pirouette form. Not to mention that she loses a weakness with fighting once you take out her normal type and even gain a resistance to fighting as a pure psychic.
As someone who's caught a ton of Meltan because of GO, I honestly have no idea how its stats or movepool looks in mainline lol. Because you have to evolve it in GO before sending it on a one-way trip to HOME, or else it'll never become a Melmetal
Shaymin Sky is one of my favorite legendaries/mythicals along with Articuno and Suicune, always thought it was really fun to play with and Serene Grace people into quitting
I want to love Meloetta because she's so cute and I like her gimmick. If only they made it so her changed form stayed after swtiching. It does for other form change mons like Darmanitan so wtf? Also side note, everyone around me was calling them mythical pokemon too, long before gen 5

-all hail twave rest snore meloetta-
it's like zen mode. gen 5 really liked those kinda forms huh
Man ranking celebi under zarude feels really unfair considering celebi has seen OU dominance before and zarude has never been anything but mid
oooh this will be a good watch for lunch today
I just ate dinner :(
FSG is the best channel to watch while eating lunch
I wish Meloetta had a form change item so you can have her as her dance form without wasting a slot
Now we need a “Top 5 Mythical Pokémon video”
Of course, we all know lord Arceus will be at the top.
Funnily enough my rarest shiny Pokémon that I didn't get from an event is a shiny Phione. Was mass breeding them for online trading and ended up getting a shiny.
I believe I initially got the initial Phione from Wonder Trade. Somehow not hacked.
And now Celebi has taken over TCG Pocket as revenge
Meloetta may not be competitively viable but that won't change the fact that it's been my favourite Mythical since Gen 5.
Meloetta:
Gen 5 - UU
Gen 6 - RU
Gen 7 - RUBL
Gen 8 - Not in the game
Gen 9 - PU
It had its time, but you can't always be in the same place.
Mythical Pokémon are (almost) always obtainable outside the games, while legendaries can get caught by anyone that plays the game casually
I don't think Meltan is a fair option on this list. It's like calling Charmeleon bad. Of course it is! It's not fully evolved!
The NFE Pokemon that we see in competitive play are the EXECPTIONS, not the norm!
0:01 it’s phione. This was never a real question, everyone already knew this. Everybody can go home.
It’s literally meltan, try again
Meloetta is my favorite mythical and yes she may be bad but at least she’s bad enough to make it on the thumbnail
Huge Meloetta W
Meloetta is not bad at all trust me. Most people don't know how to use her
She is good nu Mon
@@mdm767I haven't used one in battle, but would consider using one soon in the Indigo Disk or in Black and White remakes if I can't get Victini. Some people just give Meloetta not so great moves. I would have to look at what are the best moves for Meloetta to use.
Hope none of the people I sweep at Pokedoku Tic-Tac-Toe learn about Serebii's list of Mythicals. 😂
They should give my queen Meloetta a permanent out of battle form change, imagine how hard Scarf Meloetta-Pirouette will go in the lower tiers!
Victini is my favorite. I freaking love Victini. It's design is so good.
Phione doesn’t get calm mind but it does get take heart which is the same move but also clears the users status condition
I’m noticing how most of these are the generation’s imp mythicals.
[Sees the title]
Me: It’s Phione, right?
[Gets to #1]
Me: Well, I was half right.
Phione got Take Heart, aka better Calm Mind... but a little bit too late. Still a buff worth mentioning.
I see Celebi on the screen I’m turning the video off no slander will be tolerated against my queen
“Focus blast”🚫
“Focus Miss” ✅
When I saw the title, I immediately said Meltan would be number 1, no contest, forgetting Phione existed, and Manaphy is one of my favorites.
Celebi in Competitive Pokemon: Ok imma die.
Celebi in the TCG: Ok imma kill.
Neat analysis video! Thanks for uploading!
15:00 damn imagine being so ineffective your enemy is setting Rain Dance for you.
My favorite Meloetta build does not rely on the entire Relic Song mechanic; instead, I ran a Tera Fighting one with Tera Blast.
I wish they would have given Phione something. They could have at least given it base 90 instead of 80. And give the poor thing tail glow.
and while at it, also give that move to Lanturn and Ampharos, because ... c'mon.
@@IschmarVI Ampharos not having Tail Glow is genuinely baffling. It can light itself bright enough to be used as a lighthouse, and also use the light-up orb on its tail to fire off electricity, but _can't_ learn Tail Glow??
And I don't buy the "excuse" that it'd be too overpowered. No it wouldn't. In the older gens, maybe, but nowadays? You practically _have_ to have broken attributes to even be a blip on the radar.
And the ability to evolve it into Manaphy, even if it's a high friendship evolution. Make it evolve into Manaphy.
@@BlueAizu_ even in older gens, Ampharos would be fine with it lmao, it's always been quite lackluster
Aaying Celebi is innthe Top 5 worst mythical pokemon is crazy when it was metadefining in Gen2, Gen3, Gen4 and even Gen5.
Meloetta actually has Swords Dance now
This released just when Pokémon TCGP just came out with Celebi EX who currently took over the meta with Serperior support.
You guys started the list with CELIBI. You're just here to start fights, huh?
I mean, it makes sense, but I've never doubletaked harder in an FSG video.
it fell off hardcore after gen 5; even in gen 5 OU it's suspect.
The only other options are mew and that has a bit more of a niche since it can learn any tm move. (The other three, Manaphy, Jirachi and Victini have niches that find much more prominent use than Celebi)
@@TheRaidantDXgood vs rain teams, is it not ?
Not like UU is exactly bad either, as in gen 6.
I wonder if it would still be OU if it just had fairy type.
Celebi's typing is abysmal. Dying to a U-Turn is a tragedy, not to mention that Psychic types went from being the greatest type, to one of the worst.
@@thelegacyofgaming2928 If it just had an updated typing, grass/fairy, it would be a whole lot better, 4x weak to poison is definitely better than 4x weak to U-turn.
1:40 what’s the music here? Love it.
Gen 2 elite 4 battle music
@ thx!
Am I the only one who wants to see a video about "Best legendary/mythical pokémon that have never been in Ubers"?
Still don't understand why the literal pixie in a forest, aka Celebi, didn't become Grass/Fairy in Gen 6.
True but it's a mythical so not only is it hard to get, it's not competitively legal so gamefreak probably doesn't care to change it
This was a great one finally thanks 🎉
Oh so we’re calling shadow ball one of the scariest attacks in the game for this video? Cool. Really gives off knowledgeable and trustworthy vibes fsg. Great job guys.
I’ve played so much Pokemon Auto Chess that I completely forgot that Meloetta Aria was part Psychic. In PAC it’s just Normal Sound, and adds Fighting to those two in Pirouette.
I've been watching FSG's videos for so long that I cracked heavily when he said 'NOSEPASS' ahhaahah
I feel like Phione was made at the last minute when Generation IV was in production. I literally forgot that it was a mythical, and the fact that you can only get it by breeding Manaphy and Ditto.
Wish these mons were more viable
Here's how I'd buff these mons
Love Meloetta
My favourite Mythical
Wish it was better though.
Celebi needs a special equivalent of the move Dire Claw that gives a volatile status instead; Confusion, Infatuation, Drowsiness. (Psychic types are immune) {Will infatuation work though? Is celebi genderless?}
Hoopa needs a better ability.
Would be fun😂
As for Phione, Throw it away and never talk about it. It never happened. It doesn't exist
For Meloetta, I think Game Freak should rework its form mechanic to be something that can be changed via a key item outside of battle. That way it can remain in either Pirouette Forme or Aria Forme throughout a battle.
Celebi Always has a Special place in my Heart with the Pokemon movie i watched as a kid 😢
Melloeta would be relatively easy to fix, at least for formats without Sleep Clause: Make Relic Song have a 30% chance to sleep the opponent.
Hoopa is an amazing Pokémon, all you have to do is close the game you are trying to use it on and open Pokémon Unite instead.
Somebody give Celebi a hug, they need it!
Don't worry Celebi is having her flowers in Pocket, thank you Serperior
As a tcg pocket player. Celebi can burn in the confines of hell
No shot Celebi belonged on this list when Zarude exists.
I refuse to use the term “mythical”.
Radical Red fixes Meloetta by having it retain it's form until Relic Song is used again, even outside battle so you can always start in Pirouette and even replace Relic Song
Mythical/Illusion are event only pokemon that are related to the lore, they usually aren't as strong as legendaries even if the lore says otherwise
Tbh I find it funny Celebi is on the list and now in TCGP is currently the biggest menace in the game alongside Serperior😂
Haven't watched yet but I will accept no Celebi slander.
I'm mad
As someone who's caught a ton of Meltan because of GO, I honestly have no idea how its stats or movepool looks in mainline lol. Because you have to evolve it in GO before sending it on a one-way trip to HOME, or else it'll never become a Melmetal
11:38 oh my god that was hell of a tongue twister
Shaymin Sky is one of my favorite legendaries/mythicals along with Articuno and Suicune, always thought it was really fun to play with and Serene Grace people into quitting
Should do an overall ranking of all the mythicals
I want to love Meloetta because she's so cute and I like her gimmick. If only they made it so her changed form stayed after swtiching. It does for other form change mons like Darmanitan so wtf?
Also side note, everyone around me was calling them mythical pokemon too, long before gen 5
Didn't Heart Change come along since Legends Arceus? Also, maybe a video on Best Mythicals could make a good video idea
you didnt have to hit my Lumineon like that...😅 that hurt lol
"various forms of coverage like Focus Miss"
