Man, I absolutely love your Final Fantasy 5 content. I think if you choose to do FInal Fantasy 3 you would have a hard challenge. Unlike FInal Fantasy 5, Final Fantasy 3 has some bosses that they want to require certain jobs. I think seeing you figure out ways to overcome this would be so much fun. Loving the content!
Also, unlike FF5, FF3 uses spell slots, making mages pretty unreliable, IMO. FF5 black mage can cast 20+ Fire spells without refueling. FF3 black mage can cast... 4... Also also, HP doesn't change with changing jobs. Instead, it grows with level ups depending on character's vitality. Which works wonders for monks and black belts. For others... Not so much And don't even mention the Garula fight... This monstrosity won't make BB love degenerate dragooners, but it sure as hell is gonna make him appreciate them
I've seen a guy beating FF3(Pixel Remastered) with only Knight. And honestly, it's just not fun because ultimately it's just a matter of level grind. There's absolutely no strategy to save you from Garuda, Zande and the World of Darkness' bosses. ... Perhaps FF3 3D would work, who knows. Atleast it has multiple different abilities.
Its been 1 video without 22 jobs One at a time And i already miss it like i miss Xezat from the Dawn Warriors making his home made submarine to visit ZOK!
i feel like this run does a great job at showing off what makes FF5s systems so special, the 4 worst classes in the entire game are DRASTICALLY better than any of the individual classes on their own, even with the worst jobs theres incredibly cool synergies that can be used
Someone else did this with FjF rules, but oddly he used dancer and geomancer instead of bard and dragoon. Excited to see how this goes! I miss Kelgar already
I was just thinking about this, curious to see the differences in how it plays out. Though I remember that run involved a lot of rng crossing their fingers and hoping.
Especially since Backlog was playing the Pixel Remaster version, which actually buffs some jobs (like making Apollo Harp and bells not triggering Omni's Reset) and speed up the grinding process.
@leargamma4912 i mean, it's pretty clear that geomancer is a worse job than bard in a team setting, anyone who actually played fjf can easily attest to that. Bard's level manipulation is very strong when it matters most (neo exdeath) and it can solo lock down omega and other annoying bosses with romeo's ballad (especially when you can have 2 high speed jobs spamming it). Geomancer has its moments, but it doesn't offer nearly as much in the harder fights. Dragoon and dancer are definitely a lot more arguable, easily bottom 3 jobs, but in the context of this run I'd still say dancer is worse because at least Dragoon has bulk, shields and can toss elixirs. Otherwise your non berserker jobs are far too squishy to survive almagest at any reasonable level (which this run kinda blew past)
The Dawn Warriors in this used the same four jobs as you: Galuf was a Berserker but they assumed he running Monk so they never handed him an axe or hammer. Kelgar was a Bard, which mostly consisted of howling sad songs, especially when he saw Galuf's hat and was reminded of his father. Xeza was a Dragoon, but he tricked his teammates into thinking he was some sort of mage by arguing a spear is a type of staff instead of a bladed weapon; "You've seen its damage. I just happen to really like the spell of Extremely Temporary Flight." He was also their main healer, using Hi Potions because everyone else had something better to do on their turn. Drogan was the Thief. He was just a completely normal Drogan from any other run's backstory. Berserker Kelgar and Beastmaster Kelgar are two of my favorite mental images from knowing the Dawn Warriors used to use the Crystals as well.
Oh ho ho what's this, looks like Christmas came early. Man Dragoon being so bad hurts cause they're pretty much the coolest looking job. I'd argue that Kain doesn't actually offer anything meaningful to the table either. Cecil is tanky and has tons of equipment support, Rydia can nuke everything hard and fast, Rosa is essential, while Edge at least offers some utility and can dual weild. In versions where the side characters are recruitable, Edward and Yang can easily replace Kain's position in the party. Kain is famous and popular simply because of his story importance, and how plot-heavy FF4 is.
@@sertiana2512yeah, combat wise, Kain is kinda just there, he jumps and deals damage but thats it, he has zero support and thats why people put Cry from Porom on him in FF4DS so at least he has something to so besides jump. @@sertiana2512 I was recently playing the GBA version and as soon as I was able to, I replaced Kain with Yang. Otherwise Kain would've contribute nothing 😂
Dragoon has never been good in a main series FF outside of maybe FF9 and that's only because Freya has actual support skills and you can get an endgame lance in the middle of the 3rd disk. It's kinda funny because" Double damage on the next attack skill" is consistently one of the most overpowered abilities you can put in a turn based RPG and FFs Dragoons somehow made it trash.
what's crazy is that berserking Kain actually results in way more damage output than simple jumping. But you can also berserk Cecil and swords >>>> lances in FF4 (the difference between ragnarok and excalibur and the strongest spear is just, very very sad)
With the FJF rules, I can verify that EQWhip Berserker is actually pretty good, especially if you bother grinding out the Dragon Whip. It also changes Berserkers Agility to match Beastmasters, though with Thief around that's less useful.

oooohh hehehe I saw this one already in another youtuber's channel! But instead of dragoon and bard, they were using dancer and geomancer! always fun to watch people suffering in final fantasy 5
I'd love to see you do the "Best classes" run, and an ultimate "NG+" playthrough, having max level, all jobs maxed, doing everything the game has to offer, including the super bosses. Because you've earned it.
This was a very fun series to watch with all the ways one-job parties can or must go through this game was really cool to see; Personal favorites were Mystic Knight, Blue Mage, White Mage, and Geomancer. Seeing Spellblade domination, the healer getting its limiters removed with the Staff of Light, and the various applications of the !DING DONG was a treat. The prerecordedness of these did get a bit head-tilting at times (see the Bard video's plug section plugging ITSELF), but its understandable and didnt really detract from the fun. Sad to see it go, but happy it got properly rounded up and finished. The constant roasting of the uselessness and degeneracy of the Dragoon gives me life. Funny how it's a consistently mediocre to useless job that has purely coasted on coolness factor alone; straight up having its notoriety be almost entirely undeserved. Thief at least offers utility with steal-exclusive items and an Agility boost, Berserker at least has dummy damage output along with solid equip options and OMG ACTUAL INNATE RESISTANCES, Bard at least offers buffs that have it being claimed to be worse than Geomancer actually be a contemptuous view. Dragooners offer nothing but disappointment; no out-of-battle utility, no in-battle utility beyond the underwhelming !Lance and !Jump AKA "spicier Hide", no numerical buffs of note since Zerkers just does it better, and is all-around a very selfish and unneeded job.
Getting that Tinklebell drop off of Twintania here reminds me of when one of those solo Pokemon challenges gets an encounter with a Shiny. There's just nothing you can say but "aww~".
The worst jobs in the game, one from each crystal is a fun way to set it up. I'm enjoying the class rundown as you eliminate each category! I like how the party you've constructed is the "no participation" party. Berserker doesn't do what you want, Thief doesn't do anything, Bard does only one thing at a time, and what the Dragoon does is leave. XD "I'm Karnak's biggest patron!" Truer words were never spoken. :D Berserker getting mastered always comes as a surprise. It is a mystery. Last minute piano panic XD In a game full of nonsense interactions, reflecting a harp is one of the most nonsensical. :D I do love seeing EqAxes carry a party, and the Apollo's Harp get to do some bonkers damage. :D In theory you could have used EqHarps to power up a Gaia Hammer on the Berseker, but in practice I don't think you even needed it. I can only imagine a best jobs party getting fully synergized, to then decide BUSTIN' is faster and go with that instead. :P
Yeah. It's obvious that Dragoon doesn't offer anything meaningful to the other jobs, in a game where team and skill synergy are very important. Thief can steal good items to other jobs and has transferable Agility boost; Berserker can give Equip Axes and transfer their Strength; while Bard can give Sing to other jobs for some niche applications.
Dragoon has one thing to offer... but all the mage jobs that actually benefit from that one thing were taken off the table because rod smashing. Specifically, Dragoon offers MP self-sustain via Lancet.
13:50 shockingly enough, one kf of the best stat abilities for the Berserker is the Bard, which also has good agility and decent Magic stats (used with a few axes for extra damage) and Spirit.
I remember doing a playthrough of FF5 using 1 job from each crystal based on which had the lowest or worst agility gains. That would give you Berserker (-9) for Water, Black Mage for Wind (0), Beastmaster for Fire (+1), and Samurai for Earth (+2). Summoner is -1, but it's a Water job, so no go. Freelancer/Mime are also 0, but I didn't see Freelancer as a job, and Mime is also a "Water" job. Blue Mage, White Mage, Knight & Monk are +1, but they are all Wind. Chemist has a +3. Ignoring one per crystal, a playthrough of Bad Agility would be Berserker, Summoner, Black Mage & Freelancer/Mime.
Can't wait to see the difference between this and Suprapika's video (which if I recall right, the guy didn't even THINK about rod smashing when he put his team together) of Dancer, Berserker, Geomancer, and Thief. Which that's basically your choices but reversed but I find your arguments for the decisions much better, especially after *watching you try every job*.
just a silly idea but i kinda thought of a run using only the jobs that need wiki knowledge to be at their full potential thief - stealable items and such blue mage - skills and where to get em beastmaster - capture and release mechanic chemist - all the mixes doesnt sound as horrible since beastmaster and blue mage sort of synergize to get all the skills but it just felt like a fun themed idea ^-^
I would even think thief and chemist would help each other. Thief generally gets items, and chemist wants to mix items to make even more potent effects.
Honestly love the analysis at the start, and completely agree with all but Bard. Bard's support skills start coming in during World 2 with Speed Song, but the boosts they provide make even the worst jobs good. Berserker has low Agility (Without Artful Dodger) ? Speed Song makes it a Lightning Bruiser. Thief has low damage? Attack Song and Level Song will fix that. Best part is both examples boosts the other party members too just making things easier. It can make Berserker become a solo dps with the other two being potion-bots while preparing, or make Thief's agility also Sing for double the song boosts. Now If I had to choose Fire Crystal, I'd go with Beastmaster. Catch/Release is good...but you need a table. And repeatedly trying to catch the enemies. It's what I refer to as a "One and Done" job in battle, cause once you release a Beastmaster drops in usefulness like a rock. Berserker can't make use of it, and while Equip Whips can be nice, Artful Dodger's agility is better for it. The team also has low magic so Fire Lash isn't useful with Firaga, and Calm is just a worse Romeo's Ballad. I do also see things a bit differently, so while I disagree I will respect the decision and still found this fun to watch along with the job series. It was great watching them all and I might have to watch them again later down the road.
Alright so for best job challenge there could be some considerations. Wind- One of the mages for sure. I would omit Black because my suggestions for the next crystal can rod smash so either White or Blue. U can go either way, but white is safest. Water- Summoner, Time, or Red Mage is consideration. If u choose White mage above, I can see why u choose Red mage for 2x top tier white spells. Time Mage is good especially quick and meteor, but Hermes Sandals kind of negate that. Summoner is another character that can attack all opponents and with Golem and Carbuncle have ultimate defense. If u choose Blue then Summoner is the way to go. If White then Red. Fire- It is between Ninja and Ranger and Ranger probably takes it just for X-Fight Earth- It just has to be Samurai. Chemist is good, but u need a spreadsheet. Why look at a spread sheet when u can just throw Scrooge McDuck's fortunes. In the end my final team will be: White Mage, Red Mage, Ranger, and Samurai. Blue Mage, Summoner, Ranger, and Samurai comes in second. White Mage, Mystic Knight, Ranger, and Samurai is another option I thought of if u decide to take of Omega and Shin Ryu for a change. That will be the perfect team for both super bosses. What will Backlog Buster choose?
I'm glad that you also agree that the worst party is 4 Berserkers, considering how many people in my video said it might be 4 Bards. Even if I disagree with the choice of Bard and Dragoon, you definitely have the receipts to explain your choices. Plus y'know, PR buffed Sword Dance to be usable in the back row, and the fact that there's even an argument for "which is worse, Dancers or Dragoons" is pretty sad for the Earth crystal. Overall great video though, don't have a lot to say otherwise. Other than that it's kinda funny that the Dancer still gets some indirect action through that god damn knife.
I think you could go either way with Bard/Geo and Drg/Dancer for sure. It really does come down to splitting hairs on whats worse for various reasons. I was definitely thinking about my experiences through the SJCs and I just had a worse time playing Bard. Then I thought about my collective party. The thought of having a Dragoon Jumping, a Berserker locked in, and a bard locked down singing with a thief as my only real active guy sounded genuinely terrible. Dance is a lot better in the back row, and with thieves able to steal lamia's tiaras I was just thinking I'd have 2 boosted dance-users right out of the Earth Crystal. My first fiesta ever I beat it by dodging grand crosses with Equip Ribbon so that may have also given dancer some points in the back of my mind. I still hate Dancer though. All 4 jobs can go and stay go as far as I'm concerned.
@@BacklogBuster Synergy really is the name of the game, and no matter how you combine these guys, there's just very little to be had. Aside from Equip Ribbon, that's pretty nice.
I get what they were going for with Dragoon in theory. Heavy Armor, able to dodge enemy AoE skills with luck/timing, Jump being able to hit from the back row for full damage, Lance's drain effect. Its a survivalist who's supposed to be able to help get the party back on their feet using items after big hits... but FFV is a game where its very easy to burst down virtually every boss, which makes Dragoon virtually useless in practice.
Also spears kinda mid in IV until holy lance and has no cool job commands or passives to pass on. Having to grind for rare steals outside of holy lance is kinda lame and holy lance is still a worse excalibur. Lance is super not epic.
...but Bard isn't even the worst job from the fire crystal. Aoe stop and confuse from its songs make a lot of random encounters non-issues. Regen is pretty good, and the stat boost songs, when they're good, are good. This is madness.
A FJF best jobs would actually, ironically, include Bard, rounded out with Chemist, Summoner, and Blue Mage, most likely. With so much Bard slander I guess you've got Ninja or Ranger from Fire crystal. Two mid-tier jobs with two excellent mastery abilities to lift them up. My guess would be Ranger for !Rapid Fire, but having a Summoner to chuck scrolls is also a lot of fun
Before starting, my thoughts are that having 4 jobs and swapping abilities around really does change a lot. Thief is terrible on its own. But a Thief who can equip berserker weapons, and gets Berserker’s strength stat? That’s something different. Similarly, a Berserker using Thief’s Artful Dodger ability to get massive speed buffs can dish out a ton of unga bunga damage. Not a lot to say about Bard, but at least having only ONE Bard means you can benefit from the song buffs and let everyone else do damage.
@@enlongjones2394 I would wager it was more along the lines of having three other dedicated damage dealers, and somebody has to be on item duty because there is no other method of healing, so they become the de facto White mage. So their ability to deal damage is a non-factor, and instead your goal is survival. So they just get the agility of a thief, as much def as you can get, and that's their job.
There were various points I had it on. At the end game I just thought artful dodger for more agility for faster turns was a better use of my abilities. I probably should've chucked the Thors Hammer on the Drg and put him in the back row. Then just have Faris with the apollos harp on the whole time. But I won anyways, so its like, w/e
The tragedy of Dragoon, adding other useless jobs somehow made the Dragoon even worse by comparison. The Thief speed and the Berserker strength help patch up the other jobs weaknesses, but the Dragoon is so linear that it doesn't really benefit much from other jobs skills. Its decent STR stat means nothing when even the bard has Zerker tier strength.
I'd argue that bards are stronger than geomancer. Bards are regarded as a very powerful class in a fiesta given that their buffthe damage output and speed of other classes. Also ribbons would be more helpful in a party without mages. As Lance can give MP.
I did Four Job Fiesta for the first time this summer, and my randomly generated jobs were... thief, berserker, bard, and dragoon. I'm feeling real vindicated right now about how hard it was. (And about beating Omega and Shinryu lol)
It's not surprising that things become easier when you can use the main mechanic of the game even somewhat. But even with that, Dragoon continues being a wet fart.
Most broken job combo: Mime, White Mage, Time Mage, Black Mage. If you have to follow the 4JF standard of one per crystal, then White Mage, Mime, Ninja, Samurai.
the funniest part of this worst job challenge; is that its a viable job spread in a lot of FF games. You could kinda recreate it in FFIX even: Zidaine (Thief), Freya (Dragoon), Eiko (Flute Bard) and Steiner (cast berserk on him lol). Ok so the last two are cheating, but its close.

I like how the party you've constructed is the "no participation" party. Berserker doesn't do what you want, Thief doesn't do anything, Bard does only one thing at a time, and what the Dragoon does is leave. XD
"I'm Karnak's biggest patron!" Truer words were never spoken. :D
Berserker getting mastered always comes as a surprise. It is a mystery.
Last minute piano panic XD
In a game full of nonsense interactions, reflecting a harp is one of the most nonsensical. :D
I do love seeing EqAxes carry a party, and the Apollo's Harp get to do some bonkers damage. :D
In theory you could have used EqHarps to power up a Gaia Hammer on the Berseker, but in practice I don't think you even needed it.
I can only imagine a best jobs party getting fully synergized, to then decide BUSTIN' is faster and go with that instead. :P
Me: "ahh the series has ended."
1 week later worst job challenge arrived.
Me: "We are back!!"
Thank you for months of great FFV content!
A dragoon now has access to javalins from sand bears with thief.
Not exactly a challenge. But I’ve always had an idea for a run where each character can only use jobs from their own crystal
THE BARDBARIAN RISES
It's nice to know that despite them being the 4 worst jobs having access to 4 jobs is still better than being stuck with just one.
FF5 dragoon; the first selfish job, well before FF14 or other MMOs had similar concepts
@iantaakalla8180 Even FF Dimensions, a forgotten mobile exclusive game, has a better and more functional Dragoon
@@sertiana2512Dimensions mentioned 🤝
@@baltemys6097 I purchased the game after all haha
Dragoon has one thing to offer... but all the mage jobs that actually benefit from that one thing were taken off the table because rod smashing. Specifically, Dragoon offers MP self-sustain via Lancet.
Finally, some redemption for Bard, Barbarian, and Thief.
So glad you take ffv's challenges further beyond
Funny how i just started to play ff5 recently. Can't wait to see what other content you make in the future. The 22 job challenge was a fun ride.
13:50 shockingly enough, one kf of the best stat abilities for the Berserker is the Bard, which also has good agility and decent Magic stats (used with a few axes for extra damage) and Spirit.
I'd love to see a "normal" playthrough where you can use anything and everything and you show us cool synergies. Like a final (fantasy) victory lap!
So excited that we aren't done with this series yet
Took until 44:42 to realize that… our main lad, Bartz… doesn’t exist. It is now… Butz. Amazing name.
So next is Bartz only with whatever job you want, right? Lol
I did it 4 months ago as a premium episode.
@@BacklogBuster time to buy you a cold one and get more FFV goodness
22 Jobs, all at once; on only one character?
Thanks for the super, but uh.... Solo Bartz is on Premium Buster.
👀 💵 On my way!
The ride never ends!
I think the next job video will be... Samurai, Ninja, Summoner, and Blue mage.
I wasn't ready to say goodbay to FF5 Challenge, so THANK YOU
For the love of god, give us a run with the four best jobs, followed by a playthrougu with whatever jobs you want
Great work as always. Curious to see the advance version jobs.
just a silly idea but i kinda thought of a run using only the jobs that need wiki knowledge to be at their full potential
thief - stealable items and such
blue mage - skills and where to get em
beastmaster - capture and release mechanic
chemist - all the mixes
doesnt sound as horrible since beastmaster and blue mage sort of synergize to get all the skills but it just felt like a fun themed idea ^-^
It was great watching them all and I might have to watch them again later down the road.
also the level song buffs regen ... if you can stall a boss fight its like free high potions
Lets goooo! Bonus content
Fire- It is between Ninja and Ranger and Ranger probably takes it just for X-Fight
Earth- It just has to be Samurai. Chemist is good, but u need a spreadsheet. Why look at a spread sheet when u can just throw Scrooge McDuck's fortunes.
In the end my final team will be:
White Mage, Red Mage, Ranger, and Samurai.
Ye 50% chance of doing 4x damage ignoring row while holding chicken knife would be pretty epic when better options like x fight is out of the picture
This is madness.
nah regen is terrible... way too weak. regen generally sucks in FFV I find.
Stat boosting song is great though.
@@ericcao6281 regen is only good in long boss fights when you do level song because
A FJF best jobs would actually, ironically, include Bard, rounded out with Chemist, Summoner, and Blue Mage, most likely.
*You're a patron, get thrown in jail*
"Become a patron!"
What did they mean by this... lol
Ranger’s multi hit + Mystic Knights spell blade= super broken
I've been looking forward to this.
Bro the FF5 love continues and I'm here for it
Before starting, my thoughts are that having 4 jobs and swapping abilities around really does change a lot.
Dragoon is just not worth talking about as usual, lol. It really was done dirty. The GBA rebalance patch makes it worth using though.
I do wonder why this run didn’t give Dragoon Equip Axes.
Bards with real party singing the Level or Strength song is really good. But yeah Geomancers are really good against NED.
Imagine (using) Dragoons would make for a great band parody t-shirt, if you're interested in creating merch.
I'm sad we didn't see cat jammies Berserker Krile.
Now just the Enuo's dungeon with this party
I hope we see some four job fiesta content from you!
It's not surprising that things become easier when you can use the main mechanic of the game even somewhat. But even with that, Dragoon continues being a wet fart.
And when dragoon’s potential is unlocked, they are worse freelancer doing x8 attack with the twin lance.
Best description for them
A curiosity I noticed at 47:45 on the Neo Exdeath fight. Somehow you have 2 magic lamps in your inventory. Was that a rare steal off of Exdeath?
Actual madman, I love this guy!
Would be awesome to see best jobs now.
Challenge name: Four Job Fiasco
Amazing
Aye we get to visit ZOK! again
Can't believe you still got some of that FF5 juice in you after 22 jobs
Its only a gaem.
Poor Bartz, sucked into the void at the very end , Mugged a little too hard
Gulped into the Shadow Realm for his crimes against pockets everywhere
Lenna couldnt stop herself. She HAD to go in for the kill.
It's amusing that you named him his original name in most versions of ff5. Butz is very appropriate
If you’ve somehow kept all of your save files. Check to see which same job team can beat omega. Cuz farming is fun.
I used to put the jump skill on a support class so they can avoid damage, but hide is probably better for that
Love this guy
Funny thing, Bard+Berserker can take down Omega and Dragoon can do Shinryu.
He's back 😀
did anyone else notice at 48:53 that the item menu shows 2 magic lamps?
IT'S NOT OVER YET!!!
Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in
4 best jobs: (I bring samurais with 4x gil boost setting on at all times, the giltossing will never end)
As a Final Fantasy XIV Dragoon main, it's a shame that Dragoon is on the low tier in this game
Bonus FF5 thanks!
Geomancy doesn't grant the Geomancer's magic stat, making the synergy way way worse.
Most broken job combo: Mime, White Mage, Time Mage, Black Mage. If you have to follow the 4JF standard of one per crystal, then White Mage, Mime, Ninja, Samurai.
Mime is generally excluded from regular FJF runs, and only appears when you can roll all jobs at once.
If you do best jobs, will Omega/Shinryuu be included?
Solo Chemist can defeat Omega and Shinryu relatively unscathed, let alone a team of "best" jobs.
@@sertiana2512 Not implying it's difficult?? Just it's FFV not included in the solo jobs runs that would be a neat include?
the funniest part of this worst job challenge; is that its a viable job spread in a lot of FF games. You could kinda recreate it in FFIX even: Zidaine (Thief), Freya (Dragoon), Eiko (Flute Bard) and Steiner (cast berserk on him lol). Ok so the last two are cheating, but its close.
