I really like this video hope you can do more like it. And congratulations on being ask to write the foreword by capcom. You're the perfect man for the job.
Now that was the perfect video to brighten up my day and quite possably learn a little more abouht the megaman X series to boot. Huge congraulations for getting the opprotuity to write the foreword by capcom. As I coulden't think of anyone else who could have been the right fit for the job.
Would love more "The Complete Legacy of..." type videos. They totally could inject a nice and interesting pace to the channel while maintaining the completion spirit of the long running series
Jirard knows something we don’t. He’s releasing this video on his 9th year anniversary of the channel (that’s fucking awesome). He’s talking about the the first game series he ever covered on the channel. Realistically, Mega Man X9 should be the next main game title to release in the X series. Capcom also asked him to be a part of the iam8bit re release of the original X game. Man, tbh, I just want X9 to release already. 🥺
I really hadn't even considered that tidbit about Jirard being privy to something we the audience are not, but thank you for bringing that point of view to my attention.
Cyber Console wolf he did do a slight mention of it, but since it’s not capcom, it wouldn’t make sense to go into deep details of it. I have to check that game out myself, this video is the first time I’ve heard of it.
After playing through Megaman 11, I'd rather Capcom not bother making another Megaman X. Megaman X has been mediocre to bad for over fifteen years. Probably better it stays dead.
That part about X5's finality made me realize something about it. Multiplying or dividing by X = unlimited possibilities. From different armor collections to enemy weapon types, X literally has the power to go to infinity and beyond. Multiplying or dividing by Zero = Zero. Aside from new tips and tricks now and then, nothing ever really changes about him, almost as if there's nothing else to improve. X vs Zero is more than just two best friends at odds with each other. It's the epitome of an unstoppable force vs an immovable object.
The only big issue about this is, the armor system from X6 and Extreme was introduced in X5. You started the game with 'Fourth Armor' from X4 and once you found all the armor pieces of either Falcon or Gaea. Then you could select those armor from the stage select screen and couldn't select them unless you game over. Aside from that. Great video. Very similar to your FFVII documentary from years ago.
This was so incredibly well produced. Cheers to everyone who worked on it, really enjoyed the mix of entertainment, education, and opinions in this 👍👍👍
It was a different time back then friend-three dimensional games were so revolutionary that they set a standard that 2D games couldn’t meet, at least back then. The irony is that 2D side-scrollers have aged far more gracefully than 3D contemporaries from that same era-in hindsight, that shit’s bananas to think about.
@@georgieboysaxe3022 The only difference about the time back then was Sony America's marketing push to vilify 2D/sprite-based graphics (as the PS struggled with 2D early-on). You could always tell which reviewers were both utter crap & completely worthless at their job by checking to see if they'd fallen for Sony's anti-2D lies.
It's fine bro. An opinion is an opinion and everyone is entitled to theirs. Although, we can clearly see now that whoever that journalist was, trully underestimated the game as it was. But I get where you're coming from, and it is painful to see something you love not given justice or even the benefit of the doubt. Personally I neber enjoyed playing Megaman as a kid. I found it too difficult for my casual gaming ass. I only trully enjoyed and understood it when I grew older. My love for it started with Megaman X4, and I've loved the franchise ever since. P.S. I can still only play it on a casual level. Because I'm still a suck at playing it. Using speedrunning strategies has helped improve my play though.
@@rastadude The problem is, is that many people's opinions define the phrase, "Opinions are like assholes...". And then some people's opinions (not saying it's true in this specific case, mind) are just straight-up factually _wrong._ Take my sister for example: she's of the opinion that she can be a perfectly capable mother *and* drink a 5th of vodka with her breakfast every day at the same time, and that being passed-out drunk on the couch at any given time of the day is perfectly responsible behavior for a mother of children under the age of 10.
I thank the Mega Man X series for saving my lockdown. After beating all 11 classic games 2 years ago and bored out of my mind this summer, I watched TerminalMontage’s video and it made me want to buy the X Legacy Collection. I fell in love with the series and it helped me get through these tough times and I highly recommend it to anyone who’s reading this comment. Thank you Capcom
Javier Escudero wait people give x4 shit? Why? It’s arguably the best x game it has easily the best level design (besides maybe x2), least back tracking, best graphics, arguably best ost (although all of the x games have banger soundtracks so it’s hard to choose), and a solid story (kinda ruined by the awful voice acting and bad editing though) and it’s full playability of zero would go on to effect the rest of the mega man franchise. What do people possibly hate about it?
@KamiSquad_X I doubt it’ll look like the the old school snes games man. It’ll prolly look very siniliar to megaman 11 if it ever actually happens. It seemed like x9 would come not long after 11 came out but it’s been almost 2 years since then and we still haven’t heard anything about it being in development which sucks cus people want x9 way more than we ever wanted 11
I have to say, as a giant Megaman fan all my life that this is one of the greatest tributes/breakdowns of such a legendary franchise that truly did make a lot of childhoods so much brighter. Its a shame its been so long since we've truly seen another X title but someday hopefully in my life I'll see an X9 and it will bring me all the joys the Legacy Collections have done. Fantastic work by all of you on this video, thanks for do the blue bomber's history such beautiful justice
Excellent documentary. This thing dives deep into basically everything remotely related to Mega Man X. I think this vid's going to have a legacy of its own, and I hope many more like this come out.
I didn't find it delve deep at all. It just felt like they read everything off Wikipedia. I do think they should do more, but it can be improved. The Gaming Historian is a good example of what I would consider a deep dive into a subject. He basically made an entire movie on just the original Tetris.
@Cyber Console wolf I'm quite familiar with 20XX, looking forward to 30XX. It only got a small bit at the end because it's not *really* part of the Mega Man X series, but it's obviously close enough to deserve an honorable mention.
As somebody who is currently playing the Legacy Collections (And Command Mission) I'm so glad to see this tribute to X, Zero, and most importantly yourself. I've been watching every Completionist video I can for many years now and your commitment to yourself is amazing. Thank you Jirard!
This video was absolutely amazing. I’m a big Mega Man fan, as I grew up while the X series was reaching its end. I remember playing all the X games over the years, along with the Mega Man Zero/ZX franchise as well. These games mean something to my childhood, especially X8 which is my favorite. While X7 took some steps in the wrong direction I really hope that more people give X8 a chance through the help of the legacy collection and now this video. Thank you Jirard; the future for Mega Man looks bright.
You guys are amazing... I remember when I was younger and had to beg for my father for quarter coins to play 10 minutes of Mega Man X on local videogame arcades. Literally memorizing the whole series, and getting to play new games as time went by. My first game on the PSX was Mega Man X5, and I vividly remember playing that game for straight up 10 hours without a memory card, just to go on and play it all over again on the next day. Now, it's been almost 20 years since I've first met the franchise, and it's honestly one of my greatest inspiration towards life, game preferences, music, professional goals, it inspires me so much. I really appreciate all the work you guys have put into this. It's really heartwarming to see that people really love this franchise as much as I do, maybe even more than I do. EDIT: Had to correct grammer due to second language issues lol
I just bought all Megaman Legacy collections. This video was released in the most appropriate time for me! Congrats, Jirard and team, you put together a fantastic piece for fans of Capcom's most beloved mascot.
It's important to remember that Mega Man X's greatest English voice acting came courtesy of Mark Gatha, aka Domon Kasshu. In The Day of Sigma OVA he even does the Shining Finger!
As I lifelong gamer myself, I can only imagine how proud / happy you must have been to get to write the foreword for one of your favorite games. Congrats man!
I know it's a dream, but damn dude. I would do anything to get a sequel or something similar to Mega Man X Command Mission. There's so much potential with where that spin-off can go with its characters and fun battle system.
Please revive! Great characters, thd music was fire, easily my favorite voice work of the franchise (but thats a bit low of a bar), a solid refinement on one of the best battle systems of jrpgs (ctb > atb and anyone who disagrees is factually incorrect), looked amazing, moooostly tolerable plot (it IS a jrpg) Very underrated. Needs to get back in the public eye somehow.
@TheCompletionist I don’t normally ever comment, but Jirard this was a special video. Congrats on nine years my dude. Been a joy to watch the channel grow and continue to get better over the years. That classic opening brought quite a smile to my face. Keep up all the amazing work, you’ve got a lot of people who are behind you. Looking forward to many more years getting to be a part of the TOVG community! 👍🏻
This style of video is really great. It shows The Completionist's enthusiasm of a game series without the, sometimes very daunting, task of having to complete and fully go through an entire game series. The script was very well thought out and shows how much love the team has for this series. Thank you for the awesome and very relaxing trip through memory lane for our favorite blue bomber.
Capcom can profit so much on rereleasing their older mega man games as collections. But they do have to space out their release. People didn't play the mega man games during the 2000s because there were too many released in a short period of time. Don't want the same thing to happen again
If you have a GBA you can buy a GBA cartridge loaded with every Battle Network game on eBay for like $25.00. It’s not official Nintendo or Capcom merch but it’s every rendition of every game including battle chip challenge on one GBA cartridge. Totally worth $25.00 if you don’t have all of the originals and you don’t want to wait for Capcom to maybe finally release an official collection.
Thank you so much for this JK... As a Mega Man X fan, this look-back was fun. I don’t call myself a Classic X Fan; my first game was Command Mission. But... I love the Blue Man... ever since that day with the PS2 and so on. I am a bit pessimistic though. I’ve been hoping for X9 since 2005, and I fear that DiVE will completely replace the franchise’s identity. But watching this legacy... I’m happy that Mega Man X will still be well remembered, no matter what. Also... congrats JK... on 9 years of fun and Completion. See you in another 9 years! 💙
What's hysterical about the backtracking on the decision for Zero's design to be X is that from the moment we saw Zero, we wanted to be him. There's a reason he's one of the most loved characters in the entirety of the series.
I think to a degree thats on purpose. NOT being zero had a level of thematic impact because it provided player motivation. Only once x had grown to the point that they could be equals did they finally give us the red devil of 00 unit.
X1: I had fun playing it - the final boss was tough tho. X2: My favorite! It's harder than X1 in my opinion but I still enjoyed the game's atmosphere and music. X3: Uh, kinda ok. Music has some greats but it's too aggressive and it's also a bit more frustrating to play. X4: Pretty ok! Played X's campaign and Zero's campaign and it was well balanced. Like X1, I took me a while to beat the final boss. X5: My second favorite. I know it has it's flaws but still. The music was amazing! X6: Was optimistic first but it turned into pure frustration, especially the last levels, which are almost Kaizo levels of BS. X7: Well, it was kinda ok. Some levels were neat to look at but the bosses were annoying. But it's the first game with mah boi Axl! X8: This game has some annoyingly designed levels but it still was pretty good, especially since this game has lots of content! Beat all the games in X Legacy Collection 1+2 and I may now be heading to the Zero/ZX Legacy Collection. Never tried the Xtreme, but I played Command Mission and I loved that game!
I literally cried, seeing capcom neglet these series, but seeing you taking part on its revival with capcom directly and putting hope on a new release... I've been a fan of these games ever since I had a working brain, here's hoping we keep seeing the blue bomber in all of its iterations.
@@kaitoudark1 if it does happen which I pray it will (but I kind of doubt as of now) I feel like it’ll be announced next month because not only are the game awards next month but also mega mans 33rd anniversary so While I don’t think it’ll happen if we do get x9 I can see it being announced on either day
I saw this episode... And I hope you read this. You put this video on the birthday of a friend of mine who is no longer here anymore, he was a Hardcore Megaman fan, like me... And if he were here, we would have seen this video with a big smile admiring how much love and dedication you put into this video. Thank you Jirard. Thank you Completionist... You made me remember those beautiful days with my best friend. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
I could listen to you talk about paint drying, Would love to see you talk about FF7 again since that documentary was from such a heartfelt place. Looking forward to more if you make it!
This is honestly such a well written and produced video. The care and detail put in this made my heart smile for the blue bomber. Can't wait for future videos in a similar vein!
This makes me super excited. I enjoy this series very much up until I believe 5. With one still being my all time favorite SNES game. I used to die so much as a kid but I can’t love this series enough. Between the music, the gameplay, and the characters.
This video was an amazing love letter to the Mega Man X franchise. I was especially thankful to the fact that the spinoff Xtreme and Command Mission games were mentioned, as some fans I have talked to do not remember those games. While I am aware that the Mega Man Zero games are “sequels” in a timeline sense, I still prefer the X series. The only thing missing that truly would make this a “complete legacy” video is the fact that Mega Man X Dive, a mobile game that I admit, I would definitely sink some time into, has yet to officially make its way to the US. I still wish for Capcom to start development on a new X game that fans would come to love, and would love to see Jirard’s take on said game should it come into existence. That being said, this style of video was definitely worth the watch and I look forward to more series/legacy reviews in the future!
I’ve been on a binge watch of Completionist episodes and this will be a nice little addition. It does mean that I’ll have to stop playing FFXII: Zodiac for a little bit, but I suppose it’s worth it!
It's always nice to see a channel I respect immensely give such a tribute to one of my favorite gaming series. X is near and dear to my heart and seeing the franchise treated with love and care is one of the many reasons I found and stayed here. Excellent documentary-- cannot wait to see the next one :)
Seeing the old video TOVG intro really got me, that's some nostalgic feels right there. Can't believe it's been 9 years, proud this has been going this long and hope it continues! (Also the video itself was great!)
This was a really well-made video and the care and thought is clearly evident in the production and systematic breakdown of the X series. I'm a tremendous fan of the Mega Man series and I appreciate any video that's made with the care and attention that this video was made with. It's great to see others enjoy and discuss aspects of the series that I love so much. Keep up the great work with everything you and your team does, Jirard. This is now one of my most favorite videos I've seen by you. What a wonderful video to make for 9 years of videos
This well-produced retrospective is fantastic. The level of comprehensive detail in the writing, the segues, the music selections, the guest voice clips (which I am SUPER jealous of and wish I could’ve been a part of somehow!), the custom 3d animations...all of it, top to bottom, a triumph. Furthermore, albeit what many might view as a moot point, as someone who has gone through many teacher lives working on figuring out next steps, I can share this video more freely with past (and future?) students without having to be concerned about language. I of course had hoped Jirard and the TOVG crew were holding onto a surprise announcement at the very end of this video that maybe - just maybe - a tease of X9 might coincide with TOVG’s 9th birthday...but alas. Even so, this is certainly a fitting way to celebrate TOVG’s 9th birthday as Mega Man X is where the whole legend of the Completionist began. Meanwhile, this retrospective served as a staggering reminder of just how long it’s been since we’ve had a proper Mega Man X game. As someone who grew up with an SNES but not a PlayStation later on, the journey ended for me after completing X3. It was a heartbreaking loss to see X leave Nintendo consoles for Sony consoles back in the day, although from what I have seen since, it seems like the only games I really missed out on are X4 and maybe X5. I’m still holding out hope that CAPCOM will surprise us all someday soon with a brand new X game that will bring back much of what made the series’ humble beginnings so great, but we’ll see. In the meantime, I look forward to JKB Games finishing his fan-made production of Mega Man X: Corrupted, which looks to be the Mega Man X Metroidvania that dreams are made of. (I know CAPCOM did give making Mega Man into a Metroidvania a try with the ZX series, but it didn’t quite cut the mustard.) I’d wager it’s more likely we’ll see a Mega Man 12 first before we see an X9 or a whole new kind of X game, but we’ll see!
I got this collection for PS4 for Christmas and now I can't wait to play it. I'll probably play them one at a time between other games. Great episode. I can't wait to see how your show continues to grow and evolve. Thank you for 9 wonderful years.
With Mega Man X Collection on the PlayStation 2 being my first official exposure to gaming as a whole, this video means an incredible amount to me. With every X game I'd played, I'd truly known what it meant to fight for what you believe in. Even now, I recognize the massive impact X and Zero had on me as a young child, even to now, a near-21 year old struggling to find his place in the world. All I know is I want to improve the world in some way. Much like Dr. Light, I simply wish for us all to unite peacefully, and still be the best we can be. Video games can and do have a valuable effect on those who experience them. Mega Man X taught me not to give up, no matter how daunting or scary the task may be. Final Fantasy IV taught me that redemption, while hard work, is never too large of a price to pay if you truly care, and it is worth it. New Super Luigi U helped me understand how important being a younger brother could be when usually the elder brother is the main focus. The Legend of Zelda helped me look at the details over the wider picture in a lot of situations where the details can be crucial. Kirby's Adventure got me realizing that no matter how simple and childish things may look, there's often a lot more going on deeper within. EarthBound was helpful for me to learn how to channel my weird side, not just to be odd, but also how to use it for more interesting things and in ways that work well in the social settings I'm in. And while a game doesn't have to be revolutionary or teach someone a valuable lesson, the real point is to have a good time, and even in the greater aspects that's present. While Pac-Man didn't really give me any new information, it's just a fun experience. While Mega Man X also relayed a foundation of life lessons and goals to me, I still just played it to have a good time. In a world that can be stressful and scary and induce anxiety, rage, and sadness, video games have definitely helped many millions of people to overcome all of this. It's influenced culture in ways thought unimaginable. It's become more than some nerdy pastime and it's a way of being. A lot of my time with my girlfriend is spent just chilling in front of the PS3, enjoying each other's company, and honestly I'm glad there's something to do instead of simply awkward conversation. I'm proud to be a gamer, and I genuinely kinda hope I never stop being one. I've wondered about a new Mega Man X game for a few years myself, and with the return of our blue boys, there's a lot of hope. How would they go about it? Will things be as fun as they were all that time ago? How much will have improved? Maybe only the X-Buster on his hand knows for sure...
Jirard the actual Elephant in the room is how you haven't talked about Rockman X DiVE the newest game for mobile phones, what is inspired on the cancelled Rockman X online and Maverick Hunter X and actually is a pretty decent game with a lot of content and story
Mega Man X6 is such abad game....And I love it. I know is not the best game in the series, but its so amazing when you understand it, the art direction and the music are amazing, its unforgiving....YES! but its so much fun.
More of this please. That's being said this really told me nothing more than each game happened and how they were recieved. Dont worry about the length worry about depth. Looking at the x series Wikipedia would have gotten me more info. Maybe put in your personal feelings and experience about each game
This makes me want to play Megaman X series again. Cheers for that. Also some audio level issues I've noticed in a lot of recent videos where I'm having to adjust my volume when narrations get REAL loud, then change back to soft again.
I felt exactly the same way, but then I played megaman 4, 5 and 6, believe M, they're too underrated and not too difficult, 6 in particular, it's complicated enough withe power ups and secrets. I recommend you try 6
@@xninja83x67 I prefer X as well overall, but megaman 5 and 6 honestly surprised me with their quality, they're really underrated games, imo better than megaman 2 and 3, much more balanced and less bullshit and they really take advantage of the hardware as much as they can.
@@redgeek8169 Oh, for sure man. I definitely do like the old games too just I think mostly the aesthetics and music push x over the top for me. I owned one of the later megaman games on nes as a kid but I can't recall which. I think the cover art had mega man and rush flying with a castle in the background and I can only remember tomahawk man as far as robot masters go.
Watching this video two years later as I am tackling my own Mega Man X journey for my channel, I love how much love this series has compared to the others. This one stood out by a while, and I really wished they took more care of it back then so we would've seen a revival of it in modern day besides a legacy collection.
You know This just doesn't feel as good as when we are looking at the game through your eyes with your voice, i don't care what gamespot or IGN said about these games, i am interested to hear what you have to say. They don't really know what they are talking about.
Mega Man X is STILL, my fave Mega Man game. I can still play it 100% to this day with no problem. Thanks Jirard, for making this Legacy Video. Hopefully, with the success of Mega Man 11, it’ll inspire Capcom to make a new Sequel of the X series!
MegaMan X was one of the first games I ever played when I was a small child and X has remained one of my favorite characters in all of gaming because of that title. Thank you for this amazing video!
"Mega Man X recently celebrated it's 30th anniversary..." Oh, cool. Jirard, what's the future like? How long does it take to beat COVID, assuming it's not still around? Who's president? Also, can I get the winning powerball numbers from 2021, 2022, and 2023 for good measure? Thanks, bro.
Pshh, whatever. Obviously Jirard is either a time traveler, or experiences time differently than us mortals. How else could he complete so many games as quickly as he does?
Who in their sana minds would dislike this content? Jirard, anything like this is welcomed, this is a clase S documentary that’s also entertaining to watch. 10/10 what a suiting date to release this.
The original Megaman X was actually my INTRODUCTION to the Megaman franchises years ago, so X is pretty much my IDEAL Megaman; it's GREAT that you've given X the recognition he DESERVES Jirard.
Holy cow what did I just watch?!?! You really knocked it out of the park with the production value! Seriously this felt like a documentary on the discovery channel except it was about video games and made by someone (you) who actually knows their stuff. Please please please make more of these. I want all the things now, Legacy of Mario, of Zelda, of Smash bros, just all of it. You could even break Mario and Zelda into the 2d and 3D.
26:20 that's friggin DOPE. I honestly can't think of a more massive flex from a fan/reviewer to say they wrote something official for a games re-release - not using flex in a negative connotation. Especially Mega Man X wow.
This video celebrates the 9th year of the Completionist and one of my favorite video game franchises and one of its best series. It is a gem. Thanks for the work.
I love all the Megaman games I got all the legacy collection and have been playing them all, now I already finished all the classic Megaman up to 11 and I am in X5. I simply understand Jirard and his love for Megaman, we are in the same boat here. WE NEED ANOTHER MEGAMAN X game!!
I am so happy for you Jirard. Capcom asked you to do something crucial and official to one of your favorite games! Happy 9 years man! I’ll always be here!
Megaman X is one of my favorites series. It was a huge part of my teenager days. X1 is my favorite of the SNES trilogy X6 is my favorite of the PS1 trillogy X8 is the only good MMX game in PS2
I'd love to see more 'Complete Legacy of...' videos. Its an incredibly well done documentary on a franchise's legacy. No bias, no exaggerations, just the truth from start to finish; as it should be.
I rally did enjoy this type of video Jirard and would very much love to see more condensed retrospective-esque videos like this in the future. The Megaman franchise as a whole (in its entirety, not just the X series) has been a ubiquitous part of the time spent in my life as a gamer since I was 7. I could possibly even fill an entire book about how important it is to me and why. Roughly 6 years ago it was playing X5 again for the first time since I was a kid that reignited my love for not only the franchise but playing games again in general. It had such a profoundly immense effect on me as a long time avid fan of the franchise that it bordered on obsessive for about 3 years. But even after real life circumstances had a substantial effect on my desire to play video games and how much I enjoyed them, my reacquired appreciation for Megaman has never wavered. Hell I was so enamored with it, I actually began writing a fan story about Megaman X that kind of served as my own (relatively obscure) interpretation of what X9 could be like. I never finished it unfortunately though. I intended for it to be pretty long and packed to the brim with all kinds of lore and new interesting characters. But the story became so cluttered and disorganized that should I ever return to it, I'll either have to start over from scratch or it'll have to undergo some major revisions. But that should be a testament to how much I would kill for an X9 someday. Here's hoping I guess. And thank you for this loving tribute.
I've been watching your channel about since late middle school. I just turned 23 and I still love everything you put out. Video game history videos are my absolute favorite and I would watch them to death if you keep doing these. Fantastic video, great job.
On a game by game basis, I felt the SNES descriptions were good, but the ones afterwards were lacking. Playing as Zero in X4 was the first time getting a dedicated melee character in a platformer, and is up there with Castlevania for giving melee characters tons of options without flat out making them ranged. X6 had issues, but not for staying the same. It tried to innovate with modular and global stage effects that combine in different ways, but the actual level design suffered. X7's implementation of Axl was important, as it emphasized a new style of gameplay that was ranged but intended to feel different from X. Analysis of whether that was actually achieved in X7 and X8 would have been good. You didn't say much about X8. Like, at all.
Amazing video as always. Would love to see more like these. 2 things though: the use of guest voices for the quotes didn’t really work for me as those weren’t recorded in the same quality as your own voice; the voice for IGN sounded eerily similar to Zelda from BotW, and that isn’t a compliment.
I loved this episode. It was nice to see a game series in a timeline and have a clear idea of how it changed. I now understand exactly why I liked the earlier parts in the series more than the later installments. I would love to see similar episodes on other big franchises.
You asked and I'll give my two cents. I really enjoyed this style of video, especially since it's something so near and dear to you. I also love the use of the OCRemix music for it! The people that made those remixes...you can tell they put their hearts into their mixes, which just made this video even more impactful. Thank you for making such an awesome video!
While other games and series probably have taken the spot as my personal favorite series, I will always hold a specially spot in my heart for Megaman. From my first experience with X4 when I first got my Playstation to reliving playing the Zero and ZX series via the Switch - I've loved this series. This was a fantastic video. I'd love to see more stuff like this from the channel.
AMAZING VIDEO GUYS! Megaman (especially the X series) is one of the most important series to me EVER! I REALLY REALLY hope to see more videos like this in the future! Keep up the amazing work!
Maverick Rising is still the best collection of fan made themes of Mega Man X :) You using multiple tracks for this video is fucking 🔥 Love this retrospective of the series. Including dev snippets and all that good stuff.
Megaman was in my child hood and its stuff one of my favorite series and I hold it close deep in my heart, as much as I struggled as a kid in these games I pushed through and grew as a gamer and u felt satisfied when u took one boss down. I will hold these games forever in my heart and thanks for this vid made me smile through and through keep it up and much support to u as well jerad
Sorry about the ads guys, TH-cam did its own thing
I was really hoping for a MegaMan X hamster obstacle course
I really like this video hope you can do more like it. And congratulations on being ask to write the foreword by capcom. You're the perfect man for the job.
another deadend ip from campcom...
Now that was the perfect video to brighten up my day and quite possably learn a little more abouht the megaman X series to boot.
Huge congraulations for getting the opprotuity to write the foreword by capcom. As I coulden't think of anyone else who could have been the right fit for the job.
No problem Jirard what I care is that this is an awesome video nwn
Would love more "The Complete Legacy of..." type videos. They totally could inject a nice and interesting pace to the channel while maintaining the completion spirit of the long running series
I agree!
If we can nominate contenders, DKC2 will definitely be highly requested!
Agreed. Love history bits like these
very cool to a) hear my friends' voices in a completionist video and b) to hear my voice in a completionist video!
Thank you for your hard work
The Completionist Thanks for all the content all these years.
The Completionist I hope you could try to complete Pikmin 3 or if a long game can help pass the time in this pandemic, Xenoblade Chronicles.
The lady I live with, also known as my wife
Who the hell are you?
Reinventing the series was the best move they’ve ever made. To this day it’s one of my top five favorite game series. I’m still waiting for X9....
@Fushun Ri-acter I think he's talking about X1
What I'm expecting MegaMan X: The Elf Wars
Jirard knows something we don’t. He’s releasing this video on his 9th year anniversary of the channel (that’s fucking awesome). He’s talking about the the first game series he ever covered on the channel. Realistically, Mega Man X9 should be the next main game title to release in the X series. Capcom also asked him to be a part of the iam8bit re release of the original X game. Man, tbh, I just want X9 to release already. 🥺
Mega Man X9 would be nice. I hope that it takes notes from Mega Man 11 and just have the game focus mainly on Mega Man X.
Well the gacha fest that is xDive might release in America sometime soon isn’t that good enough /s

OH MY GOOOOOOOOODDDDDDD!!!"

That is one of the funniest things James has ever said
Megaman wasn't very popular here in the UK but over the last few years I have really getting into the X games... Great video as per
Megaman are populat for nes time.. and they just keep milking it... just dead IP now..
It's really great!
Especially Mega Man Zero.
I was wondering why you guys didn't get MM6 until the Wii Virtual Console.
Where do I start in the x games
@@nero3948 x1
Cheers to everyone who worked on it, really enjoyed the mix of entertainment, education, and opinions in this 👍👍👍
"Never grace a handheld system again until the release of the Legacy Collection on Switch."
Maverick Hunter X on PSP: "Am I a joke to you?"
It's a darn shame how much hate that game got. Maverick Hunter X is arguably better than the original Mega Man X.
He meant the original, I think, but yeah. 2 different games.
NN3DS has X1 2 and 3
MegaMan Xtreme is also on the game boy. I believe it's basically Maverick hunter x without the cutscenes and with 2d sprites.
@@DDRmassa actually the Xtreme titles have their own unique stories, whereas Maverick Hunter X is literally a remake of the first X.
“It’s only a sidescroller”
You lose credibility as a journalist with that statement
That quote was so bad, wanted to slap the reviewer.
@@rastadude The problem is, is that many people's opinions define the phrase, "Opinions are like assholes...". And then some people's opinions (not saying it's true in this specific case, mind) are just straight-up factually _wrong._
Take my sister for example: she's of the opinion that she can be a perfectly capable mother *and* drink a 5th of vodka with her breakfast every day at the same time, and that being passed-out drunk on the couch at any given time of the day is perfectly responsible behavior for a mother of children under the age of 10.
Which one's your fave???
Javier Escudero probably the original X followed by X4
@@Ballam456 my man! X4 gets a lotta shit but it's the best ps1 title imo
What do people possibly hate about it?
the is happened to me too! i got all 5 legacy collection in the summer and now im a huge mega man fan
X9 is around the corner I can feel it.
Name checks out 🤣🤣🤣
God i fuckin hope so. Love the name!
@KamiSquad_X I doubt it’ll look like the the old school snes games man. It’ll prolly look very siniliar to megaman 11 if it ever actually happens. It seemed like x9 would come not long after 11 came out but it’s been almost 2 years since then and we still haven’t heard anything about it being in development which sucks cus people want x9 way more than we ever wanted 11
haha you thought
@KamiSquad_X YES
The first Mega Man X has to be one of my favorite 2D games ever.
it is fine game..
Yep
Mine as well. It's my second all time favorite game.
mega man x was and always will be the best X game. The music is probably one of the best snes soundtracks ever made. Not to mention it was the first.
It’s so great, also that soundtrack just slaps
I have to say, as a giant Megaman fan all my life that this is one of the greatest tributes/breakdowns of such a legendary franchise that truly did make a lot of childhoods so much brighter. Its a shame its been so long since we've truly seen another X title but someday hopefully in my life I'll see an X9 and it will bring me all the joys the Legacy Collections have done. Fantastic work by all of you on this video, thanks for do the blue bomber's history such beautiful justice
I mean, I think a pretty obvious pick for another "Complete Legacy" vid would be Donkey Kong Country. I'd be very into that.
DKC2 is the end of The Completionist, shhh!
All 5 of those are just so freaking fantastic. I really hope we get a 6th at some point.
RIP Green Biker Dude
A hero we shall never forget
green biker dude nooooooooo
NO ONE TALKS ABOUT COMMAND MISSION one of my earliest RPGs right there "charge shot..............................Now"
I was just expecting smoething like "Before you go, take a look to this!....(megaman X9 trailer)" 😢️
I’m a bit surprised he didn’t mention XDive sure it’s mobile but it does exist
Brandon Porter DiVE isn’t worthy of a mention. It isn’t bad but it’s obviously just a game to milk Mega Man.
As much as X was amazing, Legends is where the series was a blessing in disguise. Very underrated and has such a passionate fanbase to it.
Can we PLEASE get off the fucking moon capcom?
also....it's 3D for once
Both X7, and X8 were 3D.
X is just the anime version of megaman.
Just an incredibly buff variant
X was actually in the Mega Man anime.
Mega Man Classic is technically already anime. Just simpler.
@@_V.Va_ Well, Him and Rush are based off of Tatsunoku's Casshern.
God I love mega man, especially the X series.
Yes sir💪
Preach!
I too would like to see a Command Mission 2.
I liked Command mission, it was a good RPG despite the market being full of RPG's, I'd want another one as well.
Please revive! Great characters, thd music was fire, easily my favorite voice work of the franchise (but thats a bit low of a bar), a solid refinement on one of the best battle systems of jrpgs (ctb > atb and anyone who disagrees is factually incorrect), looked amazing, moooostly tolerable plot (it IS a jrpg)
Very underrated.
"Any 2D action-platformer in the modern era must owe a debt to Mega Man X."

Now imagine getting a Megaman Battle Network legacy collection...
Yes I so want
Also u want a new Intry also
Capcom can profit so much on rereleasing their older mega man games as collections. But they do have to space out their release. People didn't play the mega man games during the 2000s because there were too many released in a short period of time. Don't want the same thing to happen again
Yep and starforce lol
Do you take the pea shooter, or the lightsaber katana?
I think to a degree thats on purpose. NOT being zero had a level of thematic impact because it provided player motivation.
Only once x had grown to the point that they could be equals did they finally give us the red devil of 00 unit.
Clearly a labor of love! Thanks for the hard work doing research, collection, scripting, voice over, and editing!
Command Mission was largely an original story which was pretty cool. Only X game I couldn't finish was X7 because that game is a nuisance
The Zero and ZX games are really good, especially Zero 3 and ZX Advent.
I literally cried, seeing capcom neglet these series, but seeing you taking part on its revival with capcom directly and putting hope on a new release... I've been a fan of these games ever since I had a working brain, here's hoping we keep seeing the blue bomber in all of its iterations.
It's happening. It's finally happening. I can't wait for this. Thank you, Jirard.
@Starscream91 people suspect x9 may be getting announced soon. No concrete evidence to back it though
He WOULD make it sound incredibly exciting wouldnt he? He has this enthusuasm that us infectious.
X5 had the worst story.
Absolutely love this series, the only game I didn't like was 7. For me, this is Mega Man. Great video.
Jirard's game docs are some of the best out there. I know he doesn't get to do them often, but I LOVE when he does.
I didn't know Keiji Inafune invented the "git gud" response xD
Seeing the old video TOVG intro really got me, that's some nostalgic feels right there. Can't believe it's been 9 years, proud this has been going this long and hope it continues! (Also the video itself was great!)
This looks like it'll be an eXcellent Video.
Nicccccccccccccceeeeeeeeeeee

12:08 You see paper mario devs, YOU SEE. i love the new game but YOU DON'T HAVE TO COMPLETELY ABANDON MOST OF THE ORIGINAL GAME'S MECHANICS
Then again, They practically did with X7....
I got this collection for PS4 for Christmas and now I can't wait to play it. I'll probably play them one at a time between other games. Great episode. I can't wait to see how your show continues to grow and evolve. Thank you for 9 wonderful years.
Loved the video Jirard. Wouldn't mind seeing more like this in the future.
I honestly, never liked the original mega man games, because I played the X series first, and megaman was such a downgrade from X.
I felt exactly the same way, but then I played megaman 4, 5 and 6, believe M, they're too underrated and not too difficult, 6 in particular, it's complicated enough withe power ups and secrets. I recommend you try 6
You may like Mega Man 11.
I played the originals first and prefer X

Yeah that was a bit odd to hear. There were a few notable incorrect bits of info in here
Pshh, whatever.

Hot Take: MMX Command Mission is the actually the best MMX game. Sorry, I don't make the rules, it's just true.
I honestly loved that game. I even put in the time to unlock Absolute Zero and whatever X's was (Assault armor? Assault mode?).
It isn’t, sorry but it’s true.
I disagree with it being THE best, but absolutely ONE OF the best. Fuck i loved that game. Its like...X1>X4>XCM. Maybe X4>X1>XCM. I can never decide.
@@Onattamato Ultimate Armor. He starts with X Fire and gets Ultimate.
X1 is my favorite of the SNES trilogy
X6 is my favorite of the PS1 trillogy
X8 is the only good MMX game in PS2
I'd love to see more 'Complete Legacy of...' videos. Its an incredibly well done documentary on a franchise's legacy. No bias, no exaggerations, just the truth from start to finish; as it should be.
What an amazing piece of media. It was a delight to watch. Kudos to everyone involved. You all loved the franchise and it SHOWS!!
17:24 "Oh, so sexy!" Well, you ain't lyin'! And the comment about Iris being jealous about it is comical! I love it!
The Megaman X Games changed my life. Thank you for doing good by such a beloved and lost to time series!
Mega Man X is my favorite series of all time. I've been playing these games since I was a kid in the 90s and I never tire of them
While other games and series probably have taken the spot as my personal favorite series, I will always hold a specially spot in my heart for Megaman.
Maverick Rising is still the best collection of fan made themes of Mega Man X :) You using multiple tracks for this video is fucking 🔥
Love this retrospective of the series. Including dev snippets and all that good stuff.
This is probably my favorite video you've ever done. Would love to see more things like this in the future.
Megaman was in my child hood and its stuff one of my favorite series and I hold it close deep in my heart, as much as I struggled as a kid in these games I pushed through and grew as a gamer and u felt satisfied when u took one boss down.
