@TheBlackMastadonte hey, as a game designer, I know exactly how much production goes into something like these videos and I'm thrilled you're out here Killing it. Favorite classic game for me is easily 1. I think it holds up as a complete game even now, it's the first game I ever beat, and I used to have that foam launching mega buster . But my favorite music is from 2 and my favorite production is 7. You're asking about one of my top three franchises rn I gotta stop myself from explaining why each game is a different kind of favorite 🤣
I had the same problem with the first Dragon Warrior. Got stomped by slimes, and I dropped it years later after playing other RPGs. I learned how to play properly.

I've been working on going through all of the classic games via the legacy collections. I had played 1-6 a ton back on the NES but I'd really never touched 7-10 before, but got 11 at release. Praise to the algorithm. Finaly suggested some good stuff to me. The blue bomber was and still is my jam from when I first got a hold of 2 and played almost every main line save the first few battle network and starforce. You're vibe, manner of speech and production are on point friend. If the X one I show up in your videos is as solid as this one you got yourself a sub cause I can't wait for you to hit Zero, ZX and BN. Props.
Mega man X had a massive hold on nostalgia from my childhood. The first levels soundtrack and background immediately transports me to an age of vulnerability and innocence.
i just wanted to say thank you for making this and the mega man X videos. I grew up playing 1-6 and the early X games, and your videos were a combination of nostalgia and filling in the gaps of the story. I appreciate it.
My man this is exactly how I got into mega Man zero myself. I was terrible as a kid and then a little bit after high school I found The cartridge decided to try it again and I was in love. Good to know other people have the same experience LOL
If I remember correctly, the Data CDs from Mega Man & Bass have a ton of crazy lore, like that Shadow Man is originally from space and that Burner Man was convinced he'd self destruct if he didn't burn down the world's forests.
How does Wiley keep funding all of these castles and robots? I think he's either really old money or he holds a killer bake sale. Roll: "A bake sale?! Who would eat anything that snake produced?" Rock: "Light, what are you eating?" Dr. Light: "Sowwy, but you've never twied his bwownies. I think he uses owange zest?"
Found your channel awhile back, loved it, and the algorithm made you dissapear even though I subbed. You popped back up today through random auto play and now I'm jumping down the rabbit hole until your videos autoplay lmao. Great job dude, the info is accurate, presented in an entertaining way, and your edits/animations are really good. All the little references to anime with the different outfits are so dope
It should be noted that the Wily Numbers from Mega Man 4 were actually Dr. Cossack Numbers, as the Robot Master Field Guide confirms. Apparently, Ring Man & Skull Man were combined efforts of both Dr's.
@@TheBlackMastadonte And Tundra Man is a Cossack built Robot Master, according to the Field Guide as well as other sources. Honestly, there are times when I wish the Mega Man Classic series was more connected.
just opened the book up, the robot master field guide confirms that they remain DWN units in spite of being made by cossack. it also does not state that ring man and skull man were combined efforts - rather, it confirms that they were built specifically for combat against mega man, rather than being re-purposed older units. at best, it vaguely suggests that wily specifically suggested the concept for skull man ("When Dr. Wily framed Dr. Cossack, he had the Russian scientist design Skull Man to be the ideal warrior, with evenly balanced defense, offense, and speed."). wily is only mentioned in passing for ring man. the idea that the mm4 cast are "DCN" comes from the archie comics, which is not canon (i'd also note in general that the field guide is worth being a bit cautious about in general, as it follows the localisation and its weird missteps [eg; considering break man a "guise" for proto man rather than a powerup] and thus will conflict with canon every now and then)
@@funnytoothpasteman The same can be said for the Maverick Hunter Field Guide, given that it states that Dr. Cain somehow survived the attack on Abel City from the Day of Sigma, and of course, certain information is missing for Axl between the events of X8 & Command Mission,. I didn't say that Skull man & Ring Man being a combined effort by both doctors came from the Field Guide. I think I read it somewhere on the Mega Man Wiki, or it might have been a TH-cam video. I can't really remember.
NoooOOooO why did this video end! Great work sir, loved it from start to finish. BTW, maybe Wily started counting his robots from 9 onwards because he was working with Dr. Light when the first robot masters were created? I'm not sure about that but at least in the comic you showed he was there when Protoman was created.
Not gonna lie, if I were to make a big mega man protect that requires voice acting in the future I’d definitely ask you if you’d wanna be Bass, you do a very good voice for him and I feel like it fits SOOOOO well! 45:46 (by the way, love the vid! Keep up the amazing work!! 😎😎😎)

Glad to have you back dude! And, Also, while the other *Mega Man* Generations of Capcom have been Popular throughout the years, I'll ALWAYS have my Heart Set out of THE Original Blue Bomber himself: The OG Mega Man! I Absolutely Love The Original Blue Bomber Mega Man, especially his Evil Longtime Archenemy and Worthy Adversary, Bass! Bass has ALWAYS been one of My Most Favorite Epic Evil Villainous Classic Mega Man and Capcom Villains of All Time from my Childhood Years! I even love Bass's Faithful Companion and Partner, Treble! Those two are the Perfect Evil Longtime Archenemies and Worthy Adversaries to Mega Man and Rush! I'll NEVER forget about Bass and Treble from the *Mega Man Classic* Game franchises throughout the years!
Your story from childhood is believable, thanks for your honesty. 🤭 I too, had a lot of trouble with Megaman Zero as a kid. I couldn't get behind the saber play, it was too advanced for my baby brain.
See, for me, I was lucky enough to get back into MM when it first came out, 1987/88! For me it’s been a joy to see the game series grow over the years. Some have been amazing, some just ok. But it’s great to see the younger generations still getting into Megaman!! It’s a classic series and one all true Nintendo player should play through at some point :) Thanks for the video!!
They year was 200XX... I was just a boy." Way to make me feel old, LOL. I just finished your X series lore, now I am starting this. I am a bit.. tokey tokey at the momento, so... forgive, but yeah, as soon as I started this video and you said that, I laughed my arse off and was like.. wait... G.D. Old Head. lol. I am pretty pumped to watch this video. Thanks again, doggie. You do a really great job! "If you thought the Legend Of Zelda timeline was convoluted.." LOL
I love the series, but the more I watch, the more it does become like Pokemon. Bosses are whatever the programer sees around them. Can’t wait for Mega Man XVI and the new bosses; DWN 863: Jingly Keys Man, DWN 1497: Lampshade Man, DWN 5531: Stapler Man, and DWN 3267447853367: Used Car Sales Man. 😂
I've been on a huge Mega Man kick the last week or so playing all the Mega Man X games. I have memories of playing the early Mega Man's when I was really little 😅 I'll have to re visit the OGs too! Enjoyed the video, I love learning about lore.
Yo, Mega Man is my jam growing up, & sufficed to say, this lore video was hella informative & pretty interesting. Although, if you were to ask me, I’d put some games in different spots. Like Wily Wars for me would take place after World 2, since Mega Man doesn’t charge his buster yet & it would make sense to continue the time travel gimmick. & I’d put Super Adventure Rockman after Megaman 5 & before World 4 & 5 to keep World 4 & 5 connected. Otherwise, the lore list tracks. Super solid lore video & it’s a well informed video overall! The fact that it’s 50 or more minutes is pretty impressive. Looking forward to the Mega Man X lore videos. & I know that Zero & ZX lore videos are gonna be quite interesting. Take care Mastadonte, & good luck!
NGL, I think of Mega Man 3 as the final installment for my head-cannon. The crushing rubble leaves, Wily needing emergency cybernetics; I talked a bit about that in your Mega Man X vids. .... and honestly the fact that Wily just keeps getting away gets kinda silly xD not to mention the world itself gets cartoon stupid. Like.... come-on. Some dude enters robots into the world's first robot-championship areana and not one person, NOT A SINGLE ONE goes, "Wait... these are DWN series robots?"
Lol I feel you on that intro call out with early game level struggle. When I was little, I never managed to get past the great deku tree in OOT cause the controls didn't want to work with me. Finally returned to the game when I was like 14 and finished the game, but getting stuck in the INTRO DUNGEON sucks XD
First, I would like to say you did a great job on this video. You were very informative and descriptive. I wanted to point this out because that is helpful for me as a listener of your videos who is not able to see the videos directly. Also help other blind and low vision viewers or listeners of your channel. So I wanted to complement that first and foremost. No, as for my favorite game in the classic MegaMan series, I would have to say my favorite would be a tossup between mega man three, four, five, six, and seven. Each other, their own unique thing and I really like those soundtracks. I especially like listening to the remixes on here. I’m definitely going to share your video And spread the word. Keep up the great work. I look forward to the mega X video. I know you will totally crush it and do a great job. I would like to make one suggestion. That being you don’t mind if you would be able to describe the bosses and terms of what they look like to give listeners a idea in their mind of what these antagonist robot masters look like that would be awesome. Just wanted to give you a suggestion on that one. Anyway, I will definitely check out your other videos. Listen to them and share them. You do amazing things. Keep up the amazing work. One thing I wish Capcom would do is make a mega man game in the classic series and the X series that is completely playable by blind gamer. I know it can be done. When they do, I’m going to jump them over it and stream the loving hell out of it. 1:34
I was waiting for this! So happy you dropped it! HGH episodes I'd like to see: Tekken full timeline Spyro Crash Bandicoot Donkey Kong Let me stop rn. I got excited! Can't wait for Megaman X HGH!
Since you asked for it, here's a couple lore clarifications: - Powered Up is canon. It's a retcon of Mega Man 1. Rock being called "Mega" is just some localizer screw-up. - Super Adventure Rockman isn't canon. It was disowned by Inafune and de-canonized. He felt it was too dark to fit in with classic Mega Man. - Mega Man DIDN'T win the Battle & Chase competition. Napalm Man did. His ending is referenced in the Robot Master field guide, and MM&B CDs as having canonically taken place.
The wests megaman cover art is like when youre in class in highschool and you get your friend to draw the album cover for the band youre totally going to start xD
9:26 I think Dr. Light considers it best to give robots independent thought instead of denying them the ability, because one way or another they will develop it, so it is best for them not to get the idea that humans want to dominate machines that are capable of thought in its basic form. Look at the replicants from the movies Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049, they weren't meant to have independent thought but still they gained it on their terms anyway. In other words, there's no guarantee that giving machines independent thought is a dangerous idea.

Thank you for a new honest gaming history
No problem fam. Thanks for watching
Man I remember Family Video giving you free video or video game rentals for every A on your report card. That was the shit.
i just wanted to say thank you for making this and the mega man X videos. I grew up playing 1-6 and the early X games, and your videos were a combination of nostalgia and filling in the gaps of the story. I appreciate it.
I can't wait for the next Honest Gaming History video this is my favorite series he's done.
I started listening in earnest once I saw the Transformers shirt! 💪
Appreciate it fam
This video was legitimately fantastic. And I watched it a day before the next video drops. Feels like a treat. Thanks for the hard work on this.
Just a minute in and hey Megaman Zero being hard is definitely valid even now I still cant beat it without the PS4 port's checkpoints
Yeah man. It feels easier to handle now, but the difficulty is still there
My man this is exactly how I got into mega Man zero myself. I was terrible as a kid and then a little bit after high school I found The cartridge decided to try it again and I was in love. Good to know other people have the same experience LOL
Yeah man that game was crazy!
Underrated video. Can't wait for more videos on other franchises
Thanks so much
Huge work ! Bro, when a 1-hour video goes by like it lasted only 10mn, it means real good content. Thanks for sharing your work !
Thanks so much, fam
@@TheBlackMastadonte instant sub, needless to say. Any plans of covering the Zero / ZX series in the future ?
Great vid. Took part in one of the robot master creation contests when I was a kid. It was cool to hear that bit mentioned.
Oh that's so cool!! Thanks for watching!!
This video shows how Megaman's robot designs have always been unique
You're so right
Finally. Needed a refresher on the timeline📈
Hope you enjoyed it
Great job, man! Really look forward to your videos on the X and Zero series.
If I remember correctly, the Data CDs from Mega Man & Bass have a ton of crazy lore, like that Shadow Man is originally from space and that Burner Man was convinced he'd self destruct if he didn't burn down the world's forests.
Bro it’s been like two years since I’ve been to your channel 🔥 great to see you’re still growing and dropping heat fam🙏🏾🔥❗️
Thanks for watching fam
Randomly saw this in my youtube recommendations and decided to give it a watch, glad i did since it was really great
How does Wiley keep funding all of these castles and robots? I think he's either really old money or he holds a killer bake sale.
Roll: "A bake sale?! Who would eat anything that snake produced?"
Rock: "Light, what are you eating?"
Dr. Light: "Sowwy, but you've never twied his bwownies. I think he uses owange zest?"
Waited for this for years!!!
Hope it was worth it
Found your channel awhile back, loved it, and the algorithm made you dissapear even though I subbed. You popped back up today through random auto play and now I'm jumping down the rabbit hole until your videos autoplay lmao. Great job dude, the info is accurate, presented in an entertaining way, and your edits/animations are really good. All the little references to anime with the different outfits are so dope
Thanks so much, fam!! And welcome back!!
Been a MegaMan fan since the early 90's. Dig your channel's vibe. Earned a sub.
It should be noted that the Wily Numbers from Mega Man 4 were actually Dr. Cossack Numbers, as the Robot Master Field Guide confirms.
Apparently, Ring Man & Skull Man were combined efforts of both Dr's.
Thanks fam. Yeah I definitely missed out by not getting the Robot Master guide
Cossack, he had the Russian scientist design Skull Man to be the ideal warrior, with evenly balanced defense, offense, and speed."). wily is only mentioned in passing for ring man.
the idea that the mm4 cast are "DCN" comes from the archie comics, which is not canon
(i'd also note in general that the field guide is worth being a bit cautious about in general, as it follows the localisation and its weird missteps [eg; considering break man a "guise" for proto man rather than a powerup] and thus will conflict with canon every now and then)
@@funnytoothpasteman The same can be said for the Maverick Hunter Field Guide, given that it states that Dr.
Another awesome Gaming History! I love these videos!
Thanks fam
Your wiley voice impression is peak.
Thanks fam!!
Fun facts about protoman character was based of char aznable from original gundam and racer x from speed racer.
The mega man rabbit hole goes deep as hell
Hell yeah
I really like mega man so I am 100 percent sure that I am gonna love this video
Hope you enjoy it too, bro
You did wonderful on this video. Amazing job! I hope you used the MMKB for your information lol! - MMKB admin
Oh man thank you so much!! Tbh I didn’t since I mostly used the Complete Works and Reploid Lavatory, but I’ve been using MMKB for the Mega Man X video and it’s been helping a lot. Thanks so much for all the info!
@@TheBlackMastadonte you're welcome! We aim to be as informative and accurate as possible!
As an og Megaman player I can say that Megaman Zero is a tough game to start with. Awesome video and content 👊🏻
Thanks so much, fam
Genuinely just love your personality and delivery
Your story from childhood is believable, thanks for your honesty. 🤭
I too, had a lot of trouble with Megaman Zero as a kid. I couldn't get behind the saber play, it was too advanced for my baby brain.
Awesome job as usual my guy👍
Appreciate it!
See, for me, I was lucky enough to get back into MM when it first came out, 1987/88! For me it’s been a joy to see the game series grow over the years. Some have been amazing, some just ok. But it’s great to see the younger generations still getting into Megaman!! It’s a classic series and one all true Nintendo player should play through at some point :)
Thanks for the video!!
They year was 200XX... I was just a boy."
Way to make me feel old, LOL.
Love the video man got a lot of info out of it 🎉
Thanks for watching fam
Subbed. Happy to meet another MegaMan fan
Can't wait for the next Honest Gaming History of Mega Man X vid. Hopefully it won't be long. Hope it will be this good.
Love your game history videos you make it so enjoyable and entertaining to watch
Thanks for watching fam
Lol I feel you on that intro call out with early game level struggle. When I was little, I never managed to get past the great deku tree in OOT cause the controls didn't want to work with me. Finally returned to the game when I was like 14 and finished the game, but getting stuck in the INTRO DUNGEON sucks XD
Dude. I just discovered your content. I love it. After this one I'll be checking out Zelda.
Love to see the blue bomber making a comeback! Awesome video man!
"I'm not calling homie "Mega" You are now my FAVORITE guy
I was waiting for this! So happy you dropped it!
HGH episodes I'd like to see:
Tekken full timeline
Spyro
Crash Bandicoot
Donkey Kong
Let me stop rn. I got excited! Can't wait for Megaman X HGH!
It was worth the wait my man *chef's kiss*
Appreciate it fam
This was bliss!!! Thanks Mastadonte Megaman is my jam!!! I needed this! Best cover of lore ever!!! IMO! Fye🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much fam
SUPER FIGHTING ROBOT, MEGA MAN!
Since you asked for it, here's a couple lore clarifications:
- Powered Up is canon.
Definitely the best MegaMan timeline video honestly
Aw thanks fam 🥹
Ay is that the guy from the super glue that I always use I never knew he was a character I thought it's just a design from the super glue manufacturer
Mega Man was a super gule mascot??
9:26 I think Dr. Light considers it best to give robots independent thought instead of denying them the ability, because one way or another they will develop it, so it is best for them not to get the idea that humans want to dominate machines that are capable of thought in its basic form. Look at the replicants from the movies Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049, they weren't meant to have independent thought but still they gained it on their terms anyway. In other words, there's no guarantee that giving machines independent thought is a dangerous idea.
Can't wait for you to cover the rest of the mega man franchise
Bro, just the mega world series & MM6 is a mind-blown vibe, makes me appreciate the battle networks series soo much more
