About The Game:
Mega Man X is a robot designed by Dr. Light to choose his own path in life. Years after he is created, Dr. Cain finds X and mimics his design to create a race of such robots called reploids. When the sigma virus infects these reploids, causing them to commit acts of evil, it is up to Mega Man X and his partner Zero (who is quite powerful, contrary to what his name implies) to stop it.

At least they've kept on patching Sonic '06 so it's probably slightly less broken now than it was last time.
HASEnoncorperated they never patched 06; they released it as is and kept it as is. They didn't ever make an attempt to fix anything.

No, Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 Had 242 Power stars and Mario Sunshine had shine sprites.

One of the worst things about discovering talented people on TH-cam is that eventually you're bound to find someone who you only found because they were famous but their contents so good you wished you were there since the very beginning.
Jirard the completionist is one of those TH-camrs for me. my first video that I found of his was one that he did on undertale and even then that was an old video when I found it. And while the video was good it was his talent and passion for gaming that seem to just pour off my computer screen that really pulled me in and convince me to subscribe to his channel. I've had a lot of fun ever since but watching these videos really reminds me of how much I've truly missed out on.
These videos are going to be like a second chance send me one where I can at least take glimpses of what it was like back in the early days of the completionist I'm not really going anywhere with this long comment except maybe to just say .....thank u

Mega Man & Bass isn't actually a spinoff of the Mega Man franchise. It's actually a continuation of the story that takes place after Mega Man 8. This is confirmed in Mega Man 9, when Mega Man shows Dr. Wily the 9 previous times he had begged Mega Man for forgiveness, the last one being that of MM&B.
...pretty sure a few other games in there are canon, too.
But it IS part of the main series.
MM Zero and the ZX games are also part of the main series, taking place after X, and the Legends games take place even further in the series canon.

This was an AMAZING start to a new era of the Completionist. I am too frigging excited for the episodes to come. Crash 2 and 3, Sonic 06, Mario All Stars, Conker and Banjo... GAH. I CANT WAIT TO SEE THOSE EPISODES IN THIS NEW FORMAT.

It's 2017 and I've barely started to play the SNES library. Sure I tried a little Super Mario World back in the 90's at a friend's house...but boy did I miss out. What a great console! Generally speaking SNES games weren't overly complex or too long. They could be beat in a few afternoons and focused on family friendly gameplay. They had couch co-op instead of hide-in-the-basement online multiplayer. While I love PC Gaming and some modern console gaming...I feel like we've lost touch with what makes gaming great. Oh, and no micro transactions or loot boxes. Games used to be complete out-of-box.
I was in the same boat. My parents would only buy new games for birthdays and Christmas so I had to be very careful to get what I wanted. I missed out on some great games now two decades later I am replaying them and enjoy them as much as I did in my childhood. Only wished the Chrono Trigger was on it.
To be fair, these games still exist even on modern systems. You just need to look a little deeper and beyond all the flash with unless substance. We're more or less spoiled for choice now which almost feels restrictive when we don't know what pick anymore. XD
Games had the illusion of being complete out of the box, yet even back then there was a new version of Street Fighter every year, really just for the updates. Games like Secret of Mana was shipped incomplete due to deadlines and budget constraints, but we all just saw it as an abrupt ending. I would have paid some extra money to see what could have been.
SNES had many amazing games that were enhanced by couch co-op.
Sega Genesis had many amazing games that were for the type of person that wanted to be challenged constantly. (Not to say that all the games were difficult, in fact most weren't, but they did have some incredibly difficult games like Contra)
Now you know how I feel. I grew up with this console, and it's my favorite system of all time. I have fond memories of playing Mega Man X or Super Punch Out, Super Mario All Stars, Super Mario World, etc. with my brothers in our basement. Video games helped me bond with them, and today, we are still best friends who still like to talk about these things. :)

So at a pace of 24 episodes a year (2 per month), New Game Plus will take 5 years to complete meaning it will be done in October of 2022. If Jirard continues to put out a normal episode every week, he'll have completed a total 480 games by the time New Game Plus is over.
Edit: 480 is a rough estimate. He'll likely have more or less done by then. Interestingly enough, he started this 240 episodes in, with the first 120 episodes deleted, meaning he's redoing half of what he's done.
What a great way to spin unfortunate circumstances Jirard. I knew you were going to replay the games from the episodes taken down but a new perspective from you after 6 years is really great and the more content the better!
I'd really like to see the spoiler section come back, it's one of those things that I thought was a good way to wrap up all your thoughts on every element of a game during it's last few hours, then showing off what you got for going the extra mile in the completion section, overall though good video and I can't wait to see how you feel about the other games

Dude we're all super proud of you for doing this. New Game Plus isn't something you *needed* to do, given the circumstances, but you went ahead and did it anyway. Godspeed Jirard, you absolute badass.
This format is so smart. It plays on our nostalgia, gives insight to the history of the channel, lets us experience these games and their episodes again and it is a clever way to deal with a shitty situation.

Honestly Jirard, i had a whole bunch of respect for you and what you do. Completing 200+ games if a feat that I also wish to achieve someday. But when I heard that you were going to complete the the first 120 games my love for you and what you do skyrocketed even more. I love that no matter what you have to deal with whether it be about family,work, random assholes on the internet, you still do what you do and I really look up to you. Just tiny correction on the story department, the leader of the maverick hunters is not zero, it was Sigma, until the beginning of the game where he and many ex-hunters (the 8 mavericks) start a rebellion to fulfill Sigma's ideal of a world with only reploids.
Zero was actually Sigma's "apprentice".

Man, this is my favorite game of all time, and you hit every nail that made this so memorable for me as a kid. You know what I started doing with my brothers when we got the Mega Man X collection on GameCube? We had two TVs, one for my SNES, and another for the other consoles, and so we started to do races to see who could 100% complete the game. It's like you said, the game can technically be beat within a couple hours or so if you know what you're doing, but its gameplay is so good that you can change up the way you play it every time if you want. Man, and I love the story of the X series. X became my hero growing up, and boy was it satisfying to not have TH-cam back then so that I could discover secrets little by little throughout the years as a kid. I remember the day I finally obtained the Hadouken. Thank you for making this, Capcom, and also, please stop ignoring the Blue Bomber. It's been like 7 years...

TheDarkM That title's a bit more dated. Also, it requires knowledge of what Sonic Mania was like, which many people might not have. Also, "Mania" is so generic and overly used that they may not even get the connection unless they know this show's premise.

there is one thing i always loved in Mega Man X, the "completionist" bonus you gain is attainable BEFORE the Willy stages, that makes them useful and relevant, you don't need to beat the whole game to gain something that will then be useless, and it does fit perfectly with a game like Mega Man since you can then fight with the Hadouken in the boss gauntlet, THAT is special content done right.

Edit: holy fucking shit I had no idea about the completion of levels affecting other levels were a thing! That's soooll smart and I love it. I just looked up the optimal order and started playing..... The review was good, but I really don't agree with classifying the other Mega Man series as "spin-offs" as some like Zero and ZX are full blown sequels to the X series, and Battle Network and Star Force (of which you only listed the first game by the way) are completely different continuities with their own characters, lore, and style.
Yeah, I feel like Jirard really didn't do his research well enough. Only some of those games are technically spin-offs, while the rest are their own various sub-series
Without Mega Man there wouldn’t be a Mega Man Battle Network. Sure, it’s got it’s own contained universe, but it is entirely a spin off of Mega Man.
Perhaps it could be classified as a spin off to a degree, but he put it on the same list as Mega Man Soccer, when Battle Network (and Star Force, it's own equivalent to X) are nearly franchises in their own right. Calling them spin offs seems disrespectful, considering all the fans they've made, amazing confrontations they've produced, and the unique gameplay, setting, and way it approaches the Mega Man mythos that these games have brought to the franchise.

Only difference now is that all of the Dlc is out which means he is going to have to do about 4x the amount of work as he did during his first playthrough.

When you think about it, Dr. Wily is responsible for almost EVERYTHING in the entire franchise past the original series. He created the Maverick virus and Zero, which makes him responsible for the events of the entire Mega Man X series. This also means that he indirectly co-created the Dark Elf, thus making him indirectly responsible for the events in Mega Man Zero, Mega Man ZX, and Mega Man Legends.
