Truly, thank you for posting this. I have wanted to know what it was like to supercharge an NC. I have been considering this for years but have been back and forth between turbo and supercharger. There's hardly any reviews on the SC unfortunately. I'd love to see a video of you really getting on it..... Hint hint 🤣
Hey gaz looking into picking up my first nc next week. I really want to supercharge one of these cars. But bbr seems a bit of an expensive choice. Are there any other companies you could recommend and any tips or advice you'd give maybe things to watch out for after I get a supercharger installed on my nc ?
@@mx5gaz709 okay thank you mate I would have a go building myself but im so scared of destroying it lol. Bbr it is. Just have to explain to the misses its good for my mental health.
Try MX5 parts. Depending on the your stereo though there maybe a speaker under it, worth checking first, the grill itself just pops off with a little persuasion 👍
Thanks fella. It’s a carbon Miata one. Here’s the link www.carbonmiata.com/shop/mazda-mx-5/nc-06-14-mazda-mx-5-mazda-mx-5-mazda-mx-5/exterior-parts-nc-05-14-mazda-mx-5-nc-06-14-mazda-mx-5-mazda-mx-5-mazda-mx-5/engine-cover/
Hi Gaz, what upgrades have you done a part from clutch? Is the stock nc1 engine handling right the power? Did you upgrade the radiator or anything else for heat? Thank you very much. One day I’ll supercharge my 2.0 nc1 😁 Kinds from Barcelona
Hi and thanks for the questions. Stock internals and gearbox. Upgraded clutch definitely needed. Standard radiator but also oil cooler fitted as part of the kit. I have fitted Goodwin racing vents in the bonnet but not really for heat it was done so I could hear the charger more with that said though vents really do help keep the temps down. Always happy to answer best I can any other questions 👍
@@mx5gaz709 loving the 200 package, thanks for that Gaz, I may go the SC route down the line, just have to weigh up the pros and cons to it but from watching your vids on it there doesn't seem to be much cons. It looks like it's really reliable too
Hi Mx5 Gaz you owe me money mate! Since watching your videos I've booked into BBR for a conversion. Question for you, how long will my standard clutch last on a 52k miles mx5 2.0? Or how long did yours last? What about heat on track days will this be an issue for me please?
Oh blimey fella, well done you’ll love it honestly you really will. You could really do with a upgraded clutch if your going to abuse it, I.e lots of track days or launch starts and flat foot shifting all take it’s toll. Normal Sunday morning blasts though it would be fine. I’ve gone through 2 clutches but I do sprints which mean several launch starts and abusive gear changes but also that’s after about 20,000 miles. I’ve never had a problem with heat although I have fitted water and oil temp gauges so I do keep an eye out. On a track day I’ll normally do about 15 min sessions and then rest for 20 mins or so. Let me know how you like it once it’s fitted.
If you mean mpg I don’t monitor that because I didn’t do it for better economy and tbh with any boost application you won’t get better mileage as your putting more fuel in. With that said though if you drive it steady I didn’t notice a huge difference but it is more heavy on fuel but if you drive it hard it loves drinking it.
@@mx5gaz709 Maybe it's not actually metal but at 3:30 in your video it will show on the left, just says "MX-5" and I thought its a really nice touch, haven't seen it elsewhere
@@gz617 alright I’ve just watched it again. My mate bought it me a couple years ago, it’s a peice of carbon fibre that replaces the speaker cover. I’m not sure where he got it from but if you look on eBay or mx5 parts. If I remember I’ll ask him where he got it from and let you know.
@@mx5gaz709 I was just about to comment, I didn't even know it was a speaker before I just found out while researching. It should be easier to find now that I know what Im looking for, thank you, much appreciated!
Cool vid Gaz, good to see you back at it so to speak. Love a SC, might go that route myself eventually, what's the MPG like with it? Only reason I'm asking is that mine is my daily driver
I’d don’t rev it hard on the road really but if you watch my sprint videos you’ll see me touching the dream 😂 and mine goes to 7800 rpms so try yours at that you’ll find the real dream 😂
Love the positivity and effort you go through to show us how it all works
“You can’t beat suck-squeeze-bang-blow” A-flipping-men to that Gaz mate 😁👍
Fantastic thank you very much ! Love to hear it's still reliable !!!
There's nothing like a Supercharger. Enjoy your drive. Mine is away for the New York salty winter.
Your video helps with cabin fever, Thanx-5 !!

Great video mate good to see back enjoying your car.
Great Review - can vouch for the Corten Miller Supercharger - wicked bit of kit!
Superb video just looking for my first NC was think originally at the bbr225 but looks like super charging is the way forward
great video man, looks hella fun
i just s/c my NA ......bloody awesome cars mx5's
Great work Gaz
That's a very clean looking install.
You haven't done any cooling upgrades? That's impressive
There is an oil cooler fitted as well and in the summer I have a vented hood but other than that it runs really cool without anything else.
Great review, thank you!

Choice is extremely limited and BBR pretty much your only choice if you don’t want to build your own. Nothing really to watch out for tbh

Do y’all have Kraftwerks? I just put their kit on my car, it’s solid. They worked out a ton of issues.

Where do,I get a mx5 plaque like that on your dash, instead of a grill please?

Met you 2 weeks ago in BBR, great chatting to you, what's the SC like in terms of MPG?
Hi Ian how you enjoying your 200 kit. SC is a bit heavier but not outrageous, I’ve not done figures though.

Hi Gaz,is it the 250 or 300 horse version?
Thinking of doing the same to one of mine.
What's it like on fuel??
It uses more

Hi is it possible to pass the MOT with it?
Yes never had an issue
What’s the MPG like with the supercharger? Did it get any worse?
Yea course it got worse, your putting more fuel in to match the compressed air your pushing in
Thanks for the review.
Which version of the CM supercharger did you go for? Is it the 250bhp or 300bhp version?
