This sort of video is ALWAYS great. An Engineer, and an actual Mechanic working together. Auto manufacturers ought to require this when they initially mock up their prototypes per-production. Then things like requiring almost 2.5 hours to replace the spark plugs on a Murano might not happen. Of course, whats really required is to have the Bean-counters assisting them, running for all the tools, etc, to make it up the food chain and be implemented. Easy maint. shouldn't be a dollar-costed out.
LOL! Loved the air filter skit - I guess all mechanics have to go through that role play as part of their training? So impressed that it started first time, no steps missed, or messed up - great work! Looking forward to seeing the before and after dyno and driving reviews.
Coolbeans! I haven't seen that SC installed on an ND yet. I installed the TDR Rotrex Supercharger to my 2000 Miata, (MSM clone), back in December. Stock ECU, with fuel and timing cards. Made 242whp on the dyno in April! It's an amazing car!
Having worked at a VW dealership, I can tell you that my dealership had an actual procedure to do that service. And they did many cleanings while I was there.
Would you throw out trying to seafoam the valves? Seafoam, I believe, says not for turbos or super chargers, but if you find a vacuum hose after the charger, you could spray the valves directly. I believe it works well.
I used to drive a torch red Mx5 convertible back in 2004.....awesome little car.Only issues we really had is people loved to hit it at the grocery store even when I parked 100 miles away from the damn store lol.
When I met Charles in December, I cursed him and his yellow Golf R for making me want to buy one. Now I curse both of you for making me want a suped up Miata.
In 2012 I bought a new Golf R and added an APR Stage 1+ aftermarket kit ($2,000 installed). It increased horsepower to 335 hp and torque to 334 lb-ft. It was a blast to drive. Got rid of it in 2018 with 90+k miles.
Dry ice media blasting, that was my suggestion. This is why I'll never own a direct injection car unless it's dual injection with both port and direct so valves stay clean..er.
Great video! I used to be a DIY sort of guy, but as carburators went buh-bye, I found myself tooling less and less. However, last year I acquired a sub-100,000-mile K24A powered 2005 AWD Honda Element, which has VTEC… which as we all know is just like turbo lag. I did some research online and read all about the 50-state legal supercharger kits that USED TO BE offered… and now it seems as though there are none anymore. If I could find a similar kit for my K24A installation which would be 50-state legal I would jump on it. The 2005 Prius I previously owned before the VTEC Element was quicker off the line (until VTEC finally kicked in around 3,500 RPMs).

A Miata this fits me like a glove that's 3 sizes too small. Oh how some people will never know the plight of the vertically unchallenged...🤣
@@henrym5889 don't listen to them, i'm 6'1+ and own a NA MX5. I daily it, work on it, break it & track it and the only height issue I've ever had is having a helmet on with the roof up on track because it rained. 10minutes later it was clear and the roof was down again.
Fun fact...1 min in and I already know this is really good one! Nice shop! Wow wow wow
I just bought a NC3 miata a week ago and it is by far my favorite car I've ever owned. Maybe ill have to put a supercharger on it too 🤔
Love my NC. What a car!
I regret selling mine :(
Miss my 2006
Enjoy your mx5
The chemistry of both of you guys being together in this video just works! I could not stop watching the whooooooole 24 minute video, because it's informative in the best possible way and very funny! Please keep doing more videos with a spirit like this 🙂👍.
Really appreciate it, thanks for watching!
The yellow wrap is beautiful! Great content!
The editing in this video is fantastic, 100/100 with consistency
Humble mechanic hanging out with an engineer. Good God man. XD
Yeah, that's wjat I thought. Yet, Laurel and Hardy?
I also bought a Miata (nb1) ! Always love you two doing video together.
Waited so long for this!
Man, the lighting in that garage is enviable.
On the AUS engine on VW's, you have to bend the AC line to swap the oil filter..... I'm not a big fan of that either..
How you distilled 7hrs into 24 minutes is the real genius here
Love watching you guys collab. You should find some bolt ons for the Model 3 next lol
Supercharge the model 3 😉
This sort of video is ALWAYS great. An Engineer, and an actual Mechanic working together. Auto manufacturers ought to require this when they initially mock up their prototypes per-production. Then things like requiring almost 2.5 hours to replace the spark plugs on a Murano might not happen. Of course, whats really required is to have the Bean-counters assisting them, running for all the tools, etc, to make it up the food chain and be implemented. Easy maint. shouldn't be a dollar-costed out.
"Wow, cool maybe I'll do this."
*3 days later*
"Or maybe not."
LOL! Loved the air filter skit - I guess all mechanics have to go through that role play as part of their training?
So impressed that it started first time, no steps missed, or messed up - great work!
Looking forward to seeing the before and after dyno and driving reviews.
I thought this was your old S2000 video when I saw the thumbnail. 😅
Coolbeans! I haven't seen that SC installed on an ND yet. I installed the TDR Rotrex Supercharger to my 2000 Miata, (MSM clone), back in December. Stock ECU, with fuel and timing cards. Made 242whp on the dyno in April! It's an amazing car!
VW’s procedure for DI engine valve cleaning is to replace the engine.
Shane Broussard .... Design nightmare guaranteed to crust the valves....GDI is not perfected....and for a reason $$$$$
Having worked at a VW dealership, I can tell you that my dealership had an actual procedure to do that service. And they did many cleanings while I was there.
Guys this was awesome and the humor was a bonus. Love the 500.00 air filter sale !
At first I was startled by the thumbnail because I thought "since when has he got his S2000 back?!?"
I was excited for the s2000
He's finally one of us, not satisfied with the factory!!! "Mo' Buff Horses Baby". Do a whiteboard before vs after fuel power driveability etc.!
Jason: Supercharging his MX-5
Donut Guy: Mo Powaaa Babeehh
The ND looks so gorgeous in yellow! Don’t know why Mazda doesn’t sell it like that. It’s the best colour you can get for this car.
10:15 As an engineer I understand the feeling
So glad to see the guy from 3OH3! still putting content out there
Step 1 for every post 1999 vehicle ever made: Remove everything you didn't think would ever get in the way...
Love the sarcastic mockery at 5mIns about the dangers and extreme cost of a dirty air filter.
Gearbox rebuild in 3, 2, 1....
NC Trans swap FTW.
@@naisbest3020 I'm pretty sure he'll do one soon enough :)
Would you throw out trying to seafoam the valves? Seafoam, I believe, says not for turbos or super chargers, but if you find a vacuum hose after the charger, you could spray the valves directly. I believe it works well.
no guys please, don’t look for miatas i want one first i’ve been looking ; ;
whoopss...
I used to drive a torch red Mx5 convertible back in 2004.....awesome little car.Only issues we really had is people loved to hit it at the grocery store even when I parked 100 miles away from the damn store lol.
Shaun Sites-Formerly SPEEDFREAK6988 bruh how
Miata has always been my dream car. It looks fun to drive around
Hummmm - this reminds when a guy breaks up with a girlfriend, and slowly tries to turn the new girlfriend into the ex .......
Didn't think I'd watch to the end, but 12 minutes in and thoroughly interested
When I met Charles in December, I cursed him and his yellow Golf R for making me want to buy one.
Now I curse both of you for making me want a suped up Miata.
In 2012 I bought a new Golf R and added an APR Stage 1+ aftermarket kit ($2,000 installed).
It increased horsepower to 335 hp and torque to 334 lb-ft.
It was a blast to drive.
Got rid of it in 2018 with 90+k miles.
What did the leftover sandwich say when it was put back in the fridge?
The chemistry between u 2 are perfect!
Thank you!
That car looks so small on the lift. Usually cars look bigger when lifted up.
Yeah, but when you take them to the ceiling they get real tiny. : {)
Thank you so much for showing the supercharger internals. I'm always looking at diagrams but I've never seen one like that! Awesome!
My OCD probably won't let me sleep tonight, thinking about your carbon deposits.
