67 years old. I have good weight and don’t smoke for 10 years. Doc says my cholesterol is too high and suggested statins first thing. I have taken 6 weeks alternating my diet and life style. I get tested again tomorrow. Or, I hope retested and not just pushed into statins. Fingers crossed.

In these circumstances I find that working with a multidisciplinary team to develop a personal/specific plan that works for you may help identify if any gaps exist in your lifestyle choices. Just ensure that you’re maximizing all areas of nutrition, strength training, cardio and consistency as best/much as possible & don’t give up!
It can, however the FDA banned red yeast rice products that contain more than small amounts of monacolin K, (active ingrediant in cholesterol lowering meds), so the supplement might not reduce your cholesterol as much as they promise. More plants, more exercise will always work though!
Cholesterol is found only in animal products like meat, dairy, and eggs. So, limiting your consumption in animal products goes long way towards reducing and maintaining a low LDL and total cholesterol.
I am always willing to learn more and this video is very educational. Keep spreading awareness of high cholesterol and heart disease. 👍🏿

I read some people just have higher cholesterol naturally.
