Been in the hospital for my son for 36hrs now, this is the first small break and chance to smile I’ve had since we got here. Thank you MCM, thank you for giving me a break from the stress of it all. Your show is/always will be invaluable to me.

I love when they call something a budget build because they aren't adding the $600+ ECU, tune, and whatever expensive parts they scavenge off of their non budget builds

Yeah, having friends who do things like obscure engine swaps, custom turbo builds, custom exhaust welding, engine loom re-work - That kind of experience is more valuable than them getting a few sponsored parts. Especially considering he has a full lift setup and a dedicated garage full of tools. Otherwise you'd have to try and figure that out on your own (either extremely time-consuming, or you break something, or you get stuck half-way, or put it back together wrong, etc) or just drop it off somewhere and pay the labor which I'm sure is steep on something like a non-standard engine swap or full custom turbo system - The labor would almost definitely be the biggest expense

When you have friends in high places. Just the way the world works. If he had to pay full person off the street price for all that work 2sexy would be down the dump already.
I like to think of Marty and Al's relationship as Al being the strict father who Marty is trying to impress, but Al never shows that he actually is impressed (on the inside) and instead puts on a neutral air to push his "son" to improve himself.
Can we just slow down to appreciate something here? Between these last few episodes and the Skid Factory since the bike crash, we've found out Al does better work with one hand behind his back than most mechanics I've paid to take my car to.
Al: "OH YES!!"
Marty: "I don't want you screaming OH YES and being that sweaty behind me ever again!"

I am impressed with Marty's mechanical skills!
He should have also used them to rebuild the lower end of that quite possibly heavily worn l4 he shoved a turbo onto. A full rebuild only takes a day or two and it's benefit to the life of the engine is more than worth a lot more time spent on it.

the sensor does not matter, if you see steam its not a busted radiator you fried the rings. You will still be able to drive her 20 miles home no bother she will go the best, just don't stop to pick up anybody or race the cops

The smile on Marty’s face when he’s driving again. That sums up for me what the car scene should be. I can’t wait to get my turbo project back on the road again and have that smile from ear to ear.

yeah big block...hahaha i have a 1967 buick gs400....that is a big block. i also have a 1965 mustang with a 289 small block....hell that 2.4 liter is nowhere near a big block, if anything it is a hefty baby block...

Don't know if closed captions works correctly in Australia. But here in the states it's hilarious looking at what they come up with because of the accents. i like how marty put the plates on for a test drive even tho we all know 2sexy is not registed. you cant have a street car in Australia with full cage and interior missing but don't worry no one will be telling the popo. lol.
i saw them put the plates on and I was like lol that's definitely not registered. The only benefit is that the Queensland police can't instantly look up the rego expiry of NSW vehicles so would have been a safety net. They wouldn't like the roll cage though.
It's ironic that it's illegal yet the car is a whole lot safer with a cage, luckily I live in nz where it's allgood 😎
Ummmmm.... Yeah they can bro? Both you and i can instantly check its current status as random members of the general public so do you honestly think in 2018 the vastly more resourced QPOL couldnt do the same? I just checked and got an instant status on the car, you better believe the cops can too. I gotta say i was kinda surprised to see they decided to include that footage of the plates being re fixed to the car as i knew people couldnt help themselves but to point out its current Registration status which is not anyone's business i would have thought.
i'm talking about the technology on highway patrol cars that constantly scans number plates and checks rego/other issues continuously without any human interaction. I thought that the technology could only look up the information from a database in one state, rather than two simultaneously. If the police wanna look up the rego manually then yeah they can but they will not know unless they get curious about the car and want to do it because there will be no automatic warning.
The police would drive past nd froff seeing marty driving about and wouldnt worry cause the car is quallity built by al nd marty once again 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻😎😎😎

I've learned so much from watching you guys, I remember watching your vids though my shitty private school years when I was around 11 or 12, the original driveway vids. I've put together a mad little MazdaSpeed3, and am just starting on a Turbo 2 RX7. Thank you, I mean it. Kebabs or tofu or whatever if you guys ever come out my way for sure

does al always use that hand control instead of a foot pedal on the tig?
Personally think it comes down to preference and technique when it comes to things like this. Me personally, I always use hand control on tig because I learnt the profession on high pressure steam pipes on site as an apprentice and the angle you have to sometimes be in to weld those (sometimes upside down on your stomach or standing up welding directly overhead) etc you get used to doing it that way. On smaller shop work things where your'e sat down welding then a foot pedal is usually easier. People say you have more control with a pedal and they're probably right but like I said preference. Al maybe prefers the hand control for ease of use. Long winded but I love welding lol.
Makes life pretty hard welding ally without a pedal though. Not much need on mild or stainless
It does and it doesn't I think, welding something "high end" in ally I'd agree because things can go south fast with aluminium because its an awkward metal. But for what he was doing here welding a thin intercooler pipe to a thick one, if you just ram the rod in you can manage fine, not always pretty but does the job. You can see him in a quick clip putting a lot of rod in probably for that reason lol.
