- After installing our $169 Turbocharger we bought on Ebay, Yaris Hilton is strapped onto the dyno to see what kind of power we can extract from the 2ZRFE Corolla engine we bolted into it. In the search for more kilowatts we also installed bigger injectors, a front mount intercooler and in this episode upgrade the fuel system to support more power. Will it go or will it blow? Does a bargain hunter really pay twice? We find out in this epic episode of boosty action.

I'm working on showing dart what they should have made with the dart. You don't take a track car like a guilietta or a rally car like an Abarth, tune it for economy, and sell it with a muscle name.

No doubt that fuel system has a huge impact on the outcome. Doubt they could get as much power from the stock system.

I'm glad you did this video. It goes to show that a good engine with a properly installed EBAY turbo can be fun and worth every penny. Not saying name brand turbo's are not better , of course they are. But everyone can't afford them.

I love this show! so much that i watch every single one and still intend to keep my Golf R stock! The only thing that would make this show even better is if i part of your website had a great big list of cars you each (are willing to admit you) own! it would be cool for us to know what might be getting worked on in the background and what cars you might have a long list of mod videos for!

@@alexanryset1404 did too lol they shoulda not put that one more degree of timing or added the fuel. more fuel yes more cool, but more fuel also means more cylinder pressure. the extra fuel more than timing is more than likely what rod knocked that 1.8. lessons learned, if i ever do this i'll add clearence to bottom end bearings and add .002 to the ring gaps. i read an article that said a 2 ZR would handle 200ish wheel horsepower easily with these additions, and additional oil flow.

As someone who has a Yaris as a backup car when the Honda is in the shop I love seeing the Toyota get the love it deserves.

@@FriedEggsandJellyfish Err no, he means big end bearing. A connecting rod can have two bearing surfaces so calling it the connecting rod bearing is ambiguous. It's big end or little end.
@@ferrumignis err no. If you're uneducated in the matter and get your information from reading motor trend magazines than sure. In the industry, you'd get laugh at for pronouncing it that way. the "big end" is attached to the offset journals of the crankshaft. There are only two bearings used on con rods. Not sure why you'd need to specify "big end" for bearings. Unless you can magically use bearings on the "small end", which errrr no you can't.
@@ferrumignis it's big end or little end. If you never touch the inside of an engine. Otherwise, it's a rod cap bearing typically with a notch and hole for oil squirter.

Into a custom harness.. in an imported swapper engine... with various parts-machining to fit things.. and a new imported engine mount with a JDM tax.... and a new fuel pump... and a professional dyno day.. not including labor from all the mechanics' work for several days XD
to be fair they do that to save time and money (haltech supplies MCM parts for cheap/free i think), could be done differently if it was your personal project car and you were modifying it over the winter not over a couple of weels like marty and moog do...

@@jstein77 Nah man, that was too loud, not even a 2,5 4cyl sounds that bad with just a spun bearing. Pretty sure that was the lovely sound of a broken conrod hammering at the the block #YarisHiltonKO
@@VikingRul3s Can it even be running at all with a broken con rod? It would probably have ventilated the block if it broke.
@@jstein77 true, that's a likely case and yes, it can run, the power for the last 3 cycles will overpower the resistance from the broken. I mean I could be wrong, it could just be a broken driveshaft or a destroyed gearbox. But I'm still fairly certain that the sound was being too loud to just be a spun bearing

Hmmmm, Yaris was 3000AUD, and a 750 goes for 1500-2000AUD on the haltech website (probably even less at a reseller) but i get what you mean, ECU is a big obstacle on the way for me too :/

I love that the first dyno run, due to the limitations of the Yaris fuel system, they made less power than the 2ZR-FE did in stock form. lmao

they made about the same(little bit more) (88.6 Wkw, while the stock 2zr-fe made ~~~ 100kw ) and we all know Wkw != kw

Gob smacked,awesome power, power to weight ratio will be epic, i had a 1965 Classic Morris Minivan, put rally spec engine in got upto just under 100bhp, weighed about 800kg maybe, it was great fun to drive.
You have a great sleeper, find some fancy cars to annihilate. Cant wait to see more, you guys are great.
It does make a great sleeper with that power-to-weight ratio. I'm at around 180 wheel in my 2ZR-swapped and turbo'd 2006 Yaris RS and it's a riot to drive.

Toyota Yaris GRMN 1,8 vvt with supercharger (205 hp (153 kW))
@@VikingRul3s That's a different gen Yaris, tohis gen only had an NA 1.8. The Corolla T Sport came with the same NA 1.8 or could have a supercharger. It wasn't very fast though.

The 1zz loves boost. I maxed out an STI blow thru MAF on my MR-S, calculated to 300 crank hp, and the engine was fine. To be fair I had a MWR return style fuel setup. Big 16g turbo, air to water, 600ish injectors and the ancient Power FC. Good job guys!
