Ernie Beltran home lifts aren't that expensive and don't need to be commercial or industrial grade..
grab one like these guys have and four bolts to anchor hoist to the ground.
then just use it.

Marty's been putting his money into his home instead of his cars.
That gearbox can be a bit of a pain to split. Underneath the black plastic cover plug there's a C-clip that you need to expand while prying the 2 parts of the gearbox apart. After that it's all very simple. PS: replace the horseshoe-metal bracket that hold the main input bearing in place too! Even if it looks ok, it should always be replaced as it will wear out ever so slight and give the new input bearing the chance of just a little bit of play which will result in early failure of the bearing.

Not just apprentices have issues with the air drain oil storage..At 48yo I managed to spray 80 litres of combined fluids all up the wall & over the floor of our race car workshop, as well as covering myself & getting a gob full of it. A blocked outlet is never a good thing when under pressure!
At 35 i managed to cover the roof of our building in oil..... it happens!

I remember when i started my apprentice, my boss was showing me how to drain the oil drainer and managed to forget to close the valve at the top of the drainer. Safe to say I spent nearly an hour in the shower that night and used nearly half a bar of solvol 😂

Met Mechanical Stig while he was here in the U.S. for drag week! Cool and chill guy! Our Georgia humidity was getting to them though on the last day, but the entire group was super laid back and welcoming.

Marty and Moog. Growing up in the UK, I was weened on TopGear, 5th Gear etc, I thought I had seen the best car programs ever produced. Then one tough day in Hospital, MCM jumped out of the inter-web-cloud and hit me square between the eyes. I was mesmerized and slowly but surely I fell in love with it. The many many long arsed days in hospital allowed me to review all the MCM content available. As a life-long Scoobie-Doo fan (sorry Moog but Marty was right!) I am now a Moog music fan (Sorry Marty, Moog is so damn talented it's sick!) What you do is really really important to your fans, of which there are many, even here in cold,, snowy Minnesota.
Thank you both for sharing you passions with us and for being so damn good at your craft.

At a guess, 3 phase. I dont think i have seen a single phase that big.
That is one of their smaller entry level 2 posts lifts and I know they start at 220v single phase.
you can get it in 3 phase or single, this one is single, just a bit slower than 3 phase.

Just about any size hoist can be single phase your only running a hydraulic pump the worst you will face is a slow lift, but if you have 3 phase available it is always the better option to use

I think Moog has made it more roadworthy than it has been in a decade but that car has been chopped down so badly that in today's rules it has basically ZERO chance of being engineered again. 2SEXY however, due to its functionality and being track focused now, will be the overall winner and you'll see a new Fanta can being made. 😎

There's drawbacks when fitting a heavy duty clutch you should also drop the sump and fit a now thrust bearing as the pressure increases wear dramatically and it will cost you an engine eventually.
no just put a better damper on the the crank
@@airizonaforu LOL that would help with the lightened flywheel if not properly balanced but wouldn't do a thing for additional axial load applied on the crankshaft by the increased clamping force applied by the uprated pressure plate.

Got me a hoist last year, after 15 years of backcrawling. As you pointed out it is a game changer.
The first month I worked away all the stuff I always kept pushing in front of me because I didn't want to crawl again on the floor.

Also, I've been watching you guys since the driveway days. Love the channel. One of the best auto based youtube channels out there.
Honda technology aside, the idea of having hub mounted motors is really exciting. But more to the point, he isn’t saying their technology is boring, but that the cars they make aren’t his cup of tea. This analogy can be made for lots of car technologies, 3 point seatbelts and Volvos, or Turbochargers and the Olds Jetfire/Corvair Monza. Disliking an auto company or their cars is different than appreciating a burgeoning technology that has the potential to become mainstream like this one does.

Clutch should have been installed before they even dynoed it. Theyve been milking it from the start.
I get why maybe it wasn't done when the engine and trans was installed. Could have been a time crunch, or a parts delay, or just simply hoping or expecting more from the clutch. I just don't get why they would put out a video saying they're installing a clutch and diff, and do 17 minutes of product plugging, just to drop the trans and end the episode?
Yeah cause uploading 2(!) 90 minutes films is milking it also. They just create content and have a life... Just enjoy it man. Don't be so sour!
I've been watching MCM for years, and do honestly try to enjoy their content. I've just been finding it harder and harder. Their feature films and specials are amazing, but their build videos and "regular" stuff is getting hard to stomach. Too much banter, too much dragging their feet, not enough actual productive working on car footage, with actual useful information. I know they're tayloring to younger and younger audiences every year, I guess I'm just starting to grow out of their videos.

You'll never believe what happened when we dropped this thing off a thing and melted a thing with a thing and faked a bunch of things. It's a process, getting the shed ready for it is part of the process so it's included.

Read a lot of the comments and don’t get why so much of it is saying they’re milking this. They can only do so much in a weekend - everything takes longer when you have to film it too... they have full time jobs and editing releasing content weekly. Plus seem to be doing so much more than just TH-cam content for the few bucks it brings. Just enjoy it for what it is... watch an episode from a few years back and appreciate the effort / improvement and evolution of the channel.
mcmtv2 format is good / mix of episode vs full featured stuff is great - you’ll never please everyone. Congrats on the shed - it’s a long way from your mums driveway - well earned and deserved :)

I've always wondered about installing an LSD into a front wheel drive, been the bane of my Celica life. Really looking forward to what gets done, hope to learn and apply to my own! Keep up the good work gents, always a keen watcher.
I used to hate those model Lancers, mainly because of all the P platers that did them up like the OG 2sexy and thought they were cool, but you guys have done a brilliant job with these and I might have turned around. Keep up the great work.
