Best of both worlds to just have open mics while also having the ability to mute them. Even with the mics off, you can see the voice indicator turn on so you know somebody's talking, especially if it keeps going off while they're getting beat lol

I ran into a guy on Skullgirls literally my first online casual match after practice range and tutorials, that predictably absolutely annihilated me. He then added me to a group called 'play tutorial pls' that was basically only him and like a couple dozen of new players with like handfuls of hours, 2-5. Guy himself had like 500 hours. Group didn't even have links or tips or advice or anything, just pure BM. Such a stark contrast to so many niche fighting games communities that are usually helpful because they understand the value of more players. And hey, I never played Skullgirls after that either, cause why bother swimming in sewage for a nugget of gold.

@@PistenDeer I pretty much play Skullgirls as my main fighting game nowadays and yeah, it can be hard finding someone to help you out, I play on Steam and I have about 2 players I learn from and you can say I hit the jackpot, I have about 800 hours in currently and I'll be lying if I said I could teach someone else.

“You keep spamming the same thing over and over again” will always be the funniest fighting game scrub quote to me. If the opponent is spamming the same thing, you should have adapted by now. It’s your problem if you haven’t. Winning is winning, losing is losing, and you lost to a player that was spamming because you fell for it every time and your pattern recognition is absolute trash. No one to blame but yourself.
I feel like from their perspective, there is NO answer to a move that's fast, high damaging, or a projectile, etc. So, the "spamming" complaint makes sense to me, but it's still not a valid complaint I just...understand. It's the "You're so BAD!" comments that absolutely bogle me. Like that one clip said, if they're so bad why are you losing?
This is why people think fighting game are hard to get into, or they're getting spammed or whatever. They need to know that you must adapt to the other guy playstyle and punish them
I mean, depending on the move and matchup it can be difficult for even high tier players to adapt. It's still tough for me to handle 5P spam from Axl as Goldlewis if I'm in the corner

I honestly feel like being mad at a fighting is somehow more childish without being childish. There’s one thing being disappointed and expressing that to your opponent if you so choose, but there needs to be a line drawn somewhere when someone gets genuinely angry. Maybe I’ve matured a lot since I first picked up fighting games, I don’t know, just hope everyone can realize one day that games like this are just that: a game. I’m gonna leave a like and view cuz I love your content, man, keep up the very good work.
I've said this elsewhere, but I can understand genuin anger. It's because I get gamer rage. I conjure graphic cenarios in my head of doing very bad things.
With that being said, the rage is directed at myself, at my inability to adapt, poor reactions or worse execution. I have broken controllers, I'll scream and I yell and curse up a storm. So I get it. What I don't get is how you can be so fucking blind that you take your own fruity little brain and justify spewing that to another human being. I get some people do it because it's funny, which I do too if I beat someone toxic. I'll never ever call someone trash if I'm losing, though. It makes you look deranged and detached from reality.

I do sometimes get mad and call my opponents bad (although not to them, just my monitor lol), and the reason is exactly what you said, i realise how bad they are, and i can't beat them, which makes me worse, which makes me mad haha

I do think the only time i've ever gotten genuinely this mad was in multiversus, but to be fair, that game is one of the worst design fighting games i've ever seen, so I just uninstalled.

I'm convinced most of the players who scream and rage at other players in Mortal Kombat online don't actually play the game to the full extent, they just play Story mode and call it a day and find some other game to play.
But they need to complete their daily and weekly missions that involve Kombat League, and also want that Baraka skin in Elder God ranks, so....
Plus they know just enough to beat their lil bro/sis/nephew who've never played a fighting game before and think they're way better than they actually are

I think it's worth noting that saying stuff like "This is bad for your growth" probably won't mean much to these guys. They're not interested in Mortal Kombat as a serious endeavour. They want to mash buttons and see people get dismembered.
They'd likely just tell you to touch grass if you suggested they actually invest the time and effort to become good at the game.

Like DBZF, Mortal Kombat is an IP that attracts casuals... The only plays Modern Warfare, 2K, and GTA level of casuals.
And this is the result of that in real time. Rage quitters, shit talkers, people who give up. Then the audacity to say competitive players are toxic.
This has been my experience in the FGC for a long time. Casuals are usually insanely toxic and ontop of that dont care to learn the game because thats "sweaty" and its the top players fault the landscape of the game is played this way, Ala Fortnite situation.

If you're mad about the combo guys wait until you get guys who just know the principals of fighting game buttons and just overhead/low mix up and grab your blocks the entire game and you lose to single button presses because they're completely in your head. And they're not even paying rent bro.

Years ago i used to hate fighting games and i def complained about spammers.
Casuals complain bc they just don't have an understanding of how fighting games work. They're unable to see the game in the same way as people with experience.
They don't know fundamental stuff like the concept of an anti-air.
Earlier this week someone was losing it while fighting me. I beat them and then they said "You weren't doing any combos or nothing." I said yep, didn't need them to beat you. Then they said they were going to @#$& my mom and my dad at the same time.

I actually got verbally attacked in a King of the Hill lobby a few hours ago for simply watching matches, having the MK1 platinum, and lots of other trophies.
Mortal Kombat: the only game where your opponent will get walty enough to hurl the F slur at you like it's 2010 still
I'm not surprised almost all of this are footage from the US servers, lol. I had one particularly chatty player in the Asian server, and he was like, "Wtf, what's that combo!?!? Fuck... good game, man"... That's the saltiest I've encountered in the Asia server... I guess US players are just built different, lol...

Sometimes people are nice and we have a chill talk, say GG and leave. One time someone screamed “Pay-to-Win” every time I got a combo off as Omni-Man. Or “Run away” every time I did a shimmy and punish.
