I think if you can get them crouch locked you can get the overhead with Johnny to put in combos and use sektor flame assist to restance them if you hit it right
the frame data you use in the video isnt accurate to current MK 1, some of his attacks got changed to mid and frames got slowe. (ik the recordin of the video is a bit dated :p jus wanted to point it out)
Im a Johny main and at start i used to play seerena then kano and then Kung lao but using them i didnt feel the fun and now in using sub zero and ist just perfect

Best thing to do is if you feel like you have to force yourself to get on don’t. Helps you not get burnt out so much also try practicing characters moves you can counter with your own and videos like these. I do wish they put more content in the game tho and less micro transactions. The isn’t perfect but it’s not terrible either

I do plan to bring this series as the main content on the channel. Its a more doable type of content for me right now since I dont have much time anymore for youtube. Just play for fun you know and then talk about my experience learning a character. I enjoyed this series from another game on TH-cam so i wanted to bring this type of content to the fighting game genre.
I think you could've tried sub zero to build easy hype once they're frozen, and go for the hype combos as much as you like. I think sub zero gives less support to Johnny compared to sektor while considering combos. I remember the highest I've gone with Johnny Sub is 450, I think you touch 500 in a corner combo Needless to say, an awesome video! I really needed the pro stats and watching you whiff your combos was fun ngl lol
I explored Johnny Cage recently like you. I didn't personally find him op. I actually went through the exact same thing as you. He's still top tier, but is he really op? I was dropping combos like crazy and resorted to throwing like you. I honestly think he could use a projectile like in the originals.

12:15 100% thats how i feel when i go online w. actual players who know how to only block the whole time orrr obviously they love to use Guard Break , like i can never do a full combo unless they literally OPEN UP & HAVE NO BARS AT ALL
I'm currently using Johnny and Sonya atm and it's not a bad combo. Considering that most of Johnny's strings are combo starting launchers, Sonya does a great job at extending it in the air than on the ground. I rarely spend the bar on his specials only for certain situations and not in the middle of a combo which is why I don't do Johnny and Kano. I practiced that combo but I would never do it in a real match as that's just too much of a hassle. Plus, I can mess up so bad going from Standing 4 to Hype Meter because I might input it incorrectly and get F4 or 44. Though I haven't done this in a match, I like doing Johnny's B2 then Hype because it gives me that time to breathe. I've done that with Sub Zero and there's even a combo challenge in Johnny's section that has you doing B2 after Jax's Close Back Break. I haven't done that same technique after Sonya's Square Wave but I will give it a shot.
johnny and janet is a dub combo imo, the mix up's and restands CARRY them, it makes johnny's lost frames not even noticeable with janet,. Even with her F4 in her the stance its a GREAT combo extender

I appreciate that you enjoy my content. Unfortunately TH-cam is not a priority for me anymore. It does not pay the bills and now that I am getting older I do need an actual career. When I graduated college 2 years ago, my family and I started a construction remodeling business. So I had to step in and help managing it. Everything from sales, ads, estimates, labor, hiring employees and actually getting projects done is not easy. At this point getting projects that are 10k-20k is our goal. So I am having to work 6 days a week, doing everything including labor, I am burnt out at the end of the day. So I don't have time for TH-cam where I can edit/record or even play. When I was at school at had so much free time. but now i have to help manage actual projects, create relationship with clients and communicate. Im sad tho because I tried to build something here on TH-cam but it never got anywhere. So now I do it for fun or when i have free time.
You get different levels of progress for different wins, basically you lose more for losing to lower ranks and earn more for beating higher ones… everyone has close to 50/50 win % but it’s how and who you lose to…. An elder god with a higher loss than win % probably loses matches here and there to only higher ranks but never chokes matches to spammy casuals… when you lose to casuals more at lower ranks it’s stops your progress more than a loss to a player with higher rank
Brain dead characters list: 1. Johnny cage, pressure with plus frames and mix ups then back dash to get an easy whiff punish 2. Malina, spam pokes and kicks then overhead for free damage then spam teleport and range from afar 3. Smoke and baraka, I grouped them together because they both have the same problem, their combos are literally just spamming special moves and usually take no skill to perform

Remove smoke from this. If you lose to a bottom tier character go practice
