    Great tips , but I would like to add a Tip that most painters don’t do, is to always air blow out your paint mixing cup as well as your actual paint gun, wipe your air hose down, lastly air your self off one time then right before u enter the both turn on you paint booth fan for about 5 minutes before ,you give the vehicle a light final tack

    With the price of new vehicles and less and less people being able to afford them, refinishing, repairing and maintaining an older one is a far more economical solution. Auto manufacturers can go pound sand! Another great vid Brian!

    One thing that really helps that i did before i had a booth is I would first blow the shop out with my Stihl back pack leaf blower then before i would start spraying i would drag in the garden hose and wet the floor down. That will keep any dust from up off the floor from stiring up as you walk around dragging your hose around. Will make a big difference

    Car looks great!! Only one thing I didn't like was in the beginning when the guy was using a tack rag he was wiping without a glove. Then he flipped the rag over and kept tacking. If he had any body oils on/in his skin he then transfered it to the body. Glove up always (that's how I was taught decades ago). Thank you for your videos.

    Yeah, I had my paint job a few months after I did it show this ... was my first time doing it so I am waiting for summer warmth as I have to repaint and clear my hood so I will be roughing up what I already painted and adding another base and clear ... crack on bumper I thought I plastic welded good also has presented a crack ... but I just really didn't want to pay the cash for a new bumper cover so I will try and fix that bit as well ... car is 20+ years old now so it doesn't have to be perfect ... the peeling clear coat from my hood is honestly the only blemish it has now even with my mistakes there ... soon it will look better than it is and I'll be happy ....
    Thanks for the video tips

    I always wonder why plastic trims - in most cases bumpers has different colour than the body? Every time it is hard to match the paint. In some models like Porche Cayenne many times I tough car has been painted before but I know front fenders are made of plastic 2003-2010 models (not sure about newer ones) it is the same story - fenders has different colour than the rest of the body. Great work!

    • @brainwashingdetergent4128
      @brainwashingdetergent4128 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blending a tri coat is very hard. Color matching the base white is the key and since its completely covered in pearl how do you do that? Well find a paint store with a color matching camera preferably cromax/axalta brand paint as their camera has the best match for whites. Now white is all it can match but man it does great on white so sand an area of nice clean paint on your car with 1000 grit sand paper make it nice and dull do not sand through the clear. Have them use the the Axalta/cromax camera on the dull spot and when they put it on the computer tell it to read as a *solid* color it will give you a basic white and that will be your ground coat. Get a spray out card to do a test panel paint the card the base white then put two pieces of wide tape over two different areas of the card put one coat of pearl on and remove one piece of tape and appy the second coat then remove the last tape and apply the 3rd coat of pearl then clear the card. This will show you how many coats of pearl you need to put on the car as all three sections will be a different color.
      When you paint the car blend the base white out do not hard stop it blend it far and make sure you take your pearl completely over your blended area then blend the pearl out past there. If you hard line the base white idc how good of a match it is youll see it every time also if you dont get enough pearl over the base white if you dont carry it completely over the base white blended area you'll see that too.

    • @brainwashingdetergent4128
      @brainwashingdetergent4128 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh something I fogot use the pearl from the cars paint code those are usually spot on but like I said use the camera for ground idc if it gives you a white from freightliner truck thats the white you want whatever that camera says.

    • @theirishman088
      @theirishman088 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say it looks a whole lot easier than it is, especially pearl. You can follow all the steps and moat people are going to make a bigger mess and when you take that to a shop it's going to cost more. I think a gallon of our clear alone is like 500.

    • @donnyrebel6328
      @donnyrebel6328 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you painting single stage urethane or enamel? Why not switch to base/clear if you are using a lot of metallic? The reason ss metallic is needed to spray so wet is to get it to flow out. The paint gun and the size of the fluid tip will affect your paint job a lot. I use a separate gun for base and for clear, especially if there is a lot of metallic in the base. Also, a slower reducer will help it flow out so you don't need to spray as heavy.

      about 1900 if you remove and reinstall all your trim pieces back on yourself. Really comes down to the paint type, prep, sanding and imperfections you have to fix before starting to apply basecoat. Clearcoat has to cure a couple days depending on enviroment, to buff and get rid of any clearcoat imperfections. For what they did id say about 2200-2500

      @@mikenismogtr I'll be restoring a ram truck. Removing all glass, Headlights, tails, interior and so on. Engine bay will be clean with a new crate engine. Clear coats failing. Trying to bring it back to new instead of buy another. Was trying to get an idea of what to expect.
      Thanks

      This was a shop build because no one would put around 5/6k into a job like this

    Unfortunately if you don't have some form of air filtered paint booth you are going to have dirt in your paint, if spraying in a garage spend the money, time and effort to at least temporarily turn your garage into a spray booth with smooth walls and ceiling, good lighting and some way to move filtered air through the area, air movement is very important for a complete paint job, also the more time your paint, especially the clear, has to dry the more opportunity it will have to level out smooth, when I first started doing complete paint jobs many years ago I would use a trick and spray a finish coat of retarder over the whole car and it would give the material more time to level out and it would come out smooth as glass, it's no surprise but everyone of you guys in the booth were not wearing the correct respirators, particulate respirators do not work on activated materials.

    Unless it is a show car finish, I have never needed to buff a car.

    In the lab . . . . . .🤣 Do you ever get tired of people asking the exact same questions even though you cover the same simple steps to help minimize dust and dirt in EVERY video you put out?
