  • The Motorola Z2 Force was released today, August 10 2017, and its time to see what it is made of. As we know most 'shatter resistant' or 'shatterproof' screens are made from plastic. And there is only one way to find out with the Moto Z2. The JerryRigEverything Durability Tests.
    This series of smartphone durability tests that I will perform on the Moto Z2 will help give an understanding of how long the phone will last during every day life. Ill put the phone through 2 years of abuse in about 5 minutes.
    Let me know if you have any questions!

    Zach, for your durability tests you should add a simple water test for the phone your testing for 5 to 10 minutes
    As always, another well made video Zach

    • @JerryRigEverything
      @JerryRigEverything  7 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      Water damage usually happens after the fact. (Days, or weeks later.) Due to the corrosion that happens on the circuits. So a quick water test (Or any water test) isnt super valid, unless it is revisited weeks later.

    • @adityaranpura3431
      @adityaranpura3431 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      JerryRigEverything If you wish you can add a clip showing that you put the mobile device in the water bath for 5-10 minutes and then update the mobile's situation on your Twitter which would not entail another video and be helpful to us who worry about water damage.

    • @miller2themax224
      @miller2themax224 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @JerryRigEverything You could also make a separate video a week later for the water test results, and maybe your closing thoughts. That would potentially increase your views (adding the two videos together) with minimal effort.

      Yeah, it's for people who never want to render their phone useless from a drop. Tempered glass screen protectors are cheap and give it a glass feel. I'm sure someone would rather spend the $10 on another screen protector than living with a cracked phone screen.

      I'm late to the party but I got a super scuffed/scratched Z2 Force used online for just $70, and what a lot of reviewers didn't say is that 99.99% of the scratches are completely invisible when the screen is on. I don't know how they designed it but my phone looks immaculate when I'm using it. The scratches are only visible in bright, direct sunlight, and even then the screen is more than useable. It's an incredible piece of tech and I'm bummed Motorola hasn't released a follow-up since.

      RandomTube NOT-HD I thought that as well, but think of that: Plastic screen + Tempered Glass Screen Protector. Hard to scratch and when the screen protector shatters, it's not expensive to replace while the screen won't brake

    • @blues0006
      @blues0006 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chrobin The only problem I can think of for the plastic screen and tempered glass screen protector is that there's a slim chance that when the tempered glass breaks it'll scratch the screen, or at least I think so

    • @Erafune
      @Erafune 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Every Tempered Glass Screen Protector worth it's name has a plastic film at the side closest to the phone that holds the glass in place even when shattered. It will protect the plastic screen considerably until you pull it off.
      I'm more concerned about oleophobic coatings. Oleophobic coatings wear off on the phone screen, right! So we need oleophobic spray bottle anyway. Spray the screen protector every month.

    • @WATalisman
      @WATalisman 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      But the problem with using a USB-C adapter is that you are using the same USB-C port(which have a finite lifespan) for two function, which speeds up the death of the USB-C port. If your USB-C port dies and the phone don't have wireless charging, you will not be able to charge the phone without doing repair. In shorts, Using a USB-C adapter is NOT ideal when you can have a phone that come with a headphone jack.

Yup ill of course say that Moto x Force lags some time but z play, z2 Force, G5+, G5S+, One Action never lags great job by Motorola.

I tried straightening it out by plugging it into my phone, and it worked for a while, except now the sound goes in and out of the right earbud. why? your phone screen would never break after that. if the screenprotector breaks just replace it and the plastic isn't going to crack, but if its glass protector and a glass screen the screen beneath it will probably crack too like everything else.

      I owned the Turbo 2 and was completely unaware that it was made of plastic until I left it on the hood of my car, which then fell off at some point and I ran it over. After removing the screen protector that was shredded (plastic film type) and other than a few dents in the plastic, the screen was basically unharmed. Any other phone would have been completely trashed.
      My Moto Z2 Force is getting delivered today. Unfortunately for me, the Turbo 2 did not survive a dip in my pool...
      I should probably be more careful with my phone...

    Moto is NOT replacing the screens this time around. So definitely get a protector for it. Also. No headphone jack and a tiny battery are a total fail in my opinion..

    • @AzuMentch36
      @AzuMentch36 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The Z2 Play has a headphone jack and a bigger battery, so that's what you're looking for.

    • @Erafune
      @Erafune 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tiny battery is only a problem if the battery life is also tiny.
      Snapdragon 835 is more power efficient than cheaper phone CPUs like the SD 626 the Z2 Play has.
      So Z2 Force may still last longer.
      Screen size and pixel density also affects battery life. Please don't be a noob and look ONLY at battery sizes.

    • @nicholasseaks95
      @nicholasseaks95 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Battery life is dependent on usage. If you use your phone a lot, then you want a 3500mAH and up size. If you don't, then you can do just fine with some smaller.

    • @jakebennett5633
      @jakebennett5633 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A. Not true. They clearly replace screens but it will cost you 50 bucks. Easily avoided with a $5 protector.
      B. Absolutely pointless thing to complain about when it comes with an adapter in the box. I hardly even use it because truly wireless headphones exist and are vastly more convenient.
      C. "Tiny" is a huge exaggeration. It's slightly smaller than average yet lasts just as long or longer than plenty of phones with bigger batteries. You also have the turbo power pack as an option that adds 3490 mAh to give you a total of 6220 mAh. I could not charge my phone for 2 days. Power is not an issue.

    I'm glad I watched this...I knew the body was metal, but hadn't noticed that the screen was plastic. I already have a small scratch on mine after less than a week. I need to get a glass cover for it.
    Since it is metal, I'd like to see a vid of testing cracking the phone upside someone's head. Could come in handy.
    You do freak me the F out attacking the thing with a razor knife.

    I love the torture test. Btw you have an excellent voice for this purpose. What I don't agree with is the issue of headphones. This device comes with a USB c to 3.5mm headphone adapter. It has a lanyard to marry it to the headphone cord. Most of us use the same headphones so you can leave the adapter attached to the headphone cord. Just like normal in usage. You just plug in your headphones (with adapter attached) like normal.
