Benchmarking: Moto Z4 vs Moto Z2 Force vs Moto Z Force

Final verdict is that the Moto Z4 is the faster phone for everyday usage but much slower when it comes to GPU performance. If you are someone who expects to play Fortnite, PUBG, and other mobile games maybe stay with the Moto Z2. For those of us who do not game the performance increase for browsing and multitasking is much welcome. Camera improvements also make it tough to consider a Z2/Z3.
I do not have a Z3 to make a comparison video with but due to the fact that the Z3 is identical spec wise to the Z2 I think it's fair to say that it's unnecessary.
The Z4's lower power Snapdragon 675 combined with the beefy 3600 mah battery should make it a serious contender for best battery life of 2019. Pair that with a Moto Mod battery pack or even the super beefy TurboMod and you'll have one of the best, if not THE best, phones in terms of battery life.

Plz do a battery test with mobile data on. SOT also.
For $499, no it's not worth $499 for about a 2% gain.
I do like the larger screen space, BUT, it is much less pixel density.
What I found the most interesting is how some things the Z4 did were clearly faster, but the Z2 Force was much smoother.
Need to test photo ability next. 48 megapixel sounds like the real deal maker.

Thank you for doing this. The rumor of a Moto Z4 Force with a Snapdragon 855 makes me excited how much faster it would perform against Z2 and Z4. If you decide to get one in the future (if it comes out) please do this test as again with it!! You are doing the Lord's work, Sir (or at least Moto Z Fans work).
Motorola confirmed they weren't making any new flagships this year but hopefully the the Z4 force will come next year!
I think it's an awesome lineup of phones... Just disappointed they didn't put at least an 835 in the new Z4
Moto Z2 Force updated to Android 9 gave me an score in Antutu over 270,000 points, It is an amazing smarphone even nowadays in 2019

Thank you for this. I've been looking for a definitive answer on of the z4 being is worth upgrading to being that it's a 600 series snapdragon. I'm sorely disappointed in Lenovo. They took a great line of phones and killed it. With the z2 I didn't feel it was enough of am upgrade to warrant a new phone after a year, but the z3 and z4 are both downgrades
I'm not a gamer so the bigger screen makes it a huge plus given I watch TH-cam a lot.

I really like the Z2 Force. $160 at Best Buy with a few Moto Mods at clearance prices can't be beat. The money I saved went to upgrade other tech. Plus the Z2 has a plastic screen meaning 0% at shattering. That has saved me from a few questionable drops that I had.
I don't know why Motorola didn't name It Moto Z4 Play as they did It with Moto Z3 Play

@@faithless9934 yup, same processor as the z2 force but with a 1080p+ screen, benchmark scores will be better, battery life too. The only downside is the shiny frame and side mounted fingerprint scanner on the 3rd gen

moto z2 force it´s a badass, sincerely I rather more ram and processor than camera... sorry moto z4 but I need something better than my moto x4
People are saying they prefer the z2 force, but forget it is over 2 years old and has passed it's life çylce with Motorola. So even though the GPU scores are better and it has a higher resolution display, Moto is no longer supporting it. You want to buy a phone that no longer gets security updates or any os updates, that's you. If you need that 800 series chip just get the z3, at least it still has another year of being kept up to date with OS and security patches.

Please do a camera test. How's the portrait mode? Does it allow to mess with the blur intensity after you take the pictures in Google Photos?

Mods are the same original mods, even the one included in the box. They'll function on any of the Z phones.

I just upgraded to the z4 from the z2 force and I'm not convinced it was an upgrade.

They're not releasing a Z4 Play either. Moto announced they had no more new phones for 2019 to release. Z4 is the only Z option.

It's a shame Motorola thinks you can slap a mid-range processor in a phone and call it a flagship... They should just go ahead and add "play" to the model. Then they'll have a chance of redemption releasing a Z4 with at least a snapdragon 845... If not the 855

We already know a mid level SD won't perform with a flagship. But for most people, this is all they need. Most people just FB and do other social media nonsense. And the 675 is more then enough. Mostly all I do with my phone is connect to my truck via BT and stream iheart/sirus XM, GPS, google searches and make calls and get messages. This is finally the phone that will replace my original moto Z play which also had fantastic battery life. What this poster really needs to do is upload some pictures. Because the camera has always been the Achilles heal of moto phones. My original Z play is near perfect phone. But the camera is garbage. Don't waste time comparing a mid ranger processor with a flagship playing games. We already know the outcome of that. What most want to know is if the moto finally has a decent shooter. Because until now, every single moto phone from the first moto x has been pure garbage. And if history tells us anything, this too will take a second seat to a pixel/IP/Samsung.
As for the mods I never saw any point in them. Main issue is there is never a case that can protect phone with a mod. And with most moto's, there are very few cases available. You drop this one time and its done. Maybe this phone is a bit stronger. But the original play was extremely fragile and could not take any fall.
Moto Z Force is what I have. More pros than cons, so getting a new phone is sketchy to me. Ran out of memory quick and lower battery cells burned up right at the two year mark.
True that the mods are counterproductive are far as cases are concerned. What the point in having a mod if you can't protect it? That and they cost so much more.
They make a bumper case you can buy that makes it so you can still use mods and have some protection...and they make a crap ton of cases for the Moto Z series. I had a bunch for my Z2 Play and now I have a bunch for my Z3....the Z4 is an all metal design so breaking shouldn't be to much of an issue

My Moto Z3 got 197,304 on AnTutu back when I tested it back when I got it. Seems like Motorola's cutting back on the CPU a bit for either cost reasons or battery life reasons. Though we don't know yet.

Maybe it's a software related issue bit it seems a heck of a downgrade for Moto and definitely not purchasing this unless they fix these issues. My main reason for buying a phone is gaming and this one seems not to deliver good performance in this particular topic. Still, it might be a prerelease version so it's not a final result for me and I won't say my final verdict until the final release date.
