I think watching Robert Goulet singing "If I Would Ever Leave You" as a tribute to Julie Andrews after all these years is one of the most mesmerising and romantic things you could watch
Isn't Julie Andrews just the definition of class and elegance. Her heart felt reaction to the singers presenting to her is priceless. She is on of a kind. Thank you so much Julie and thanks for posting this video.
You've got the original Glinda, the original Broadway Christine, The original Sir Lancelot, the movie Raoul, the current record holder for most Tony's won by a single person, Scar, and Carol Burnett all on one stage. Giving tribute to THE BEST TO EVER DO IT! Doesn't get much better than that!!!!!
This is probably the best tribute to this legendary lady...the Sublime Dame Julie Andrews. Even just her introduction calls for an applause, and she recieves multiple standing ovations🙌. The current heavyweights (at that time) of Broadway honouring the legend of Broadway. Julie was so touched by all the performances, especially when everyone sang in chorus "And I'll sing once more" she was moved to tears and i can totally understand her state of mind. An Icon, an inspiration and yes she is Our Fairest Lady and My Favourite Thing🙌💕💜 P.s - I wish they had sung one song from Cinderella, Star, Victor Victoria and even Throughly Modern Millie as well, also ppl always tend to overlook her brilliant dramatic performances in Hawaii and Duet for One because her musical performances have been more memorable.
4orrcountry You can tell she’s sincerely proud and happy she got to have her career with that kind of beauty and talent. Something that is not easy to find these days
"and I'll sing once more" had to be particularly moving for Dame Julie. Her botched throat surgery was in 1997 and this performance was in 2001, when people still hoped her voice would be able to come back. I think she was crying because she was moved but also because she knew she'd never be able to sing that again.
Best among all Kennedy Center honorees.... their tribute speaks volumes & volumes of world class artistry & prestige! Julie is a STAR like no other! What a legend!
This video just proves how MUCH better Ms. Andrews really is in every way possible. What a pain to see singers with accomplished careers on stage struggle with the same songs Ms. Andrews so effortlessly sang for hours, days, years and decades. What a loss for us not to be able to hear her glorious tones. Just look at how spastic the singers singing I could have danced all night, it looked like her vocal chords were gonna smash right through her chest. Then we have the intense wobbling vibrato.
Shams We all miss her voice that one VOICE ! But her voice. will never be forgotten nor lost bcoz it emanates from a place beyond vocal cords, it comes from her heart of GOLD! I love Julie
i have to agree here...Julie has set such a benchmark and she has sung these songs so effortlessly that it is only when we hear and see others struggling to sing it that we realize how supremely talented Dame Julie Andrews is hence is an Icon in the movies and Broadway.
That ending was bloody great. And I don t care if you like this kind of music or not - no denying that this was perfect. And so well deserved for Julie Andrews, who had a four octave voice and lost it when she had a minor surgery and they made a mistake. Imagine that!.
Such wonderful talent celebrating Julie. Some of the best voices the American stage has held, doing fantastic work. Yet, the songs aren't quite - right , without that unmistakable and pure soprano with the English accent.
Brian Turner The tributes are lovely and don’t stress about the accents - Dick van Dyke didn’t and it hasn’t hurt the massive popularity of the film nor should it. Chill - enjoy the wonderful performances. Love from an English person xx
how legendary was julie andrews? most artists of stature would be honored only with songs the artist was famous for performing. but in this 'thank you' to her career, half of the songs here were actually sung to her character in the movies/musicals she's most remembered for... i haven't seen all the kch shows, but i have seen a lot of them and i think that was-and remains-a unique performance i've yet to see repeated.
Gabriella Paulina You see how she gestured blowing her nose on Jack Nicholson’s hankie? That cracked me up @the same time I find so endearing & unpretentious! I love Julie
Hope this video post stays! Sadly I can no longer find the one with over 400k views & that completely covered the awesome tribute for Julie from introduction to the end! And the way it ended so very beautifully
I love a film sound of music ever stay in my heart Julie and Crhisthopher Plummer are beautiful parents. I live inSpain and I go to Salzburg for I return lived the moments when its do sound of music.Julie Andrews and Cristhopher Plummer are beautiful actress
A L The first time I heard Kristin song was the Wicked OBC recording. And being someone who has no taste for opera myself, her high notes are flawless. No hypocrisy intended
I think it's touching that Robert Goulet's performance ( and give props to the orchestra conductor for trying to follow him) was flawed, but was so sincere and heartfelt at the same time.
Beautiful tribute! Hearing My Fair Lady has made me ask myself what would her career be like over half a century later if Julie did the movie version instead of Mary Poppins. Although first of all Mary Poppins should have won the Oscar for Best Picture, second I never seen Camelot and third I would have liked to see snippets of Cinderella and Victor/Victoria recreated. Anyway happy 83rd birthday Julie Andrews
Incredibly moving. It had even more impact going from a youtube of her 1977 Royal Performance to this - none of the singers here are as good as she was, with her perfect pitch, great range, great breath control, etc. However, I'm going crazy trying to figure out who the man sitting behind Jack Nicholson is. He looks very familiar but I can't remember
Julie Andrews is a legend and of story hahaha I love her so much ive grown up with her and her talent is still incredible to this day and of course everyone else that sang was amazing to but especially Kristen chenwich wooooooooooooooooow xxxxxx :)

Julie must have wanted to burst into song with them like she almost did with Carol Burnett! To this day, even after all her success, she is always humble about her talents onstage and screen with shyness and reticence, saying, “I was just lucky.” The only Dame who is deserving of sainthood!
Have always loved Julie Andrews since I was a kid and saw Mary Poppins, then My Fair Lady, Torn Curtain, etc. through SOB. A great talent! Quite saddened to hear of her vocal problems, but it didn't stop her marvelous performances! Glad to hear that there may be some progress on the vocal front, but it doesn't stop her from being an ultimate performer! Sorry, but Audra not quite Eileen Farrell in being able to do pop with an operatic voice! Check out Eileen's pop songs, particularly "I'm Old Fashioned"!
I don’t know I think he was there as guest with Jack Nicholson. They each have a guest sitting behind them. Hers was husband Blake Edwards, the grey haired gentleman in glasses.

The original Christine understudy
How I miss Robert Goulet!
Ha, well said!
I love Julie and she is a British legend but nobody can sing her songs better than her and it was proven within this honouring 🖤
How very true ; I don’t care how talented those imitators are, they all annoy me.
No one can ever top Julie Andrews. All her movies & broadway performances remain iconic!
My favorites of hers are Queen Lillian, Mary Poppins and Cinderella

Damn. ROBERT GOULET, those pipes. Everyone a true star. Ms. Andrews really impressed.
Julie's smile is priceless.

A tribute to a Thrilled Julie Andrews By Great Singers singing great songs.

Oh gosh, Julie's face at the very end. And the hanky. Oh Ms. Andrews, you wonderful, humble, glorious person. :)
So sweet, right?
Makes me sad to know Julie can't sing as before but happy that this was done for her. She deserves this and much more.
And she’ll sing once more :) just like the lyrics to the last song says. That was precious
The love and appreciation in this video❤️ Julie Andrews is precious. Bless her! ☺️

Jeremy Irons is pure class.
Oh my word...Kristin Chenoweth at 3:25...she's like ,"I got this...easy,peasy..."
Pavarotti's reaction was also great.

Such a gentleman. And she is the definition of what a Lady is.

From a legend to another legend
Agreed! ❤
LOVELY LADY....as wonderful as all the tributes were....none were better than Julie singing them....and they were super!

@@mymanjosquin she is, but her musical performing days unfortunately are in the past.
Robert Goulet still had it at 68.
Better than 90% of the so called singer's nowadays
Right! He starts singing and half the panties in the room hit the floor!
Thanks for adding all of Rebecca and Audra's performances!
Of course, Audra is here. GODDESS!

Singing for Julie is intimidating enough, but with LUCIANO PAVAROTTI right next to her?! I would die.
Back when watching the KCH was a real treat. Nothing now. Civilization is gone.
I would love to see Rebecca Luker or maybe even Laura Benanti in a Sound of Music Revival!
What a grand lady!
I’m watching after hearing the tragic Rebecca news
Julie is unique!!!!!!
She is my queen¡¡¡¡ love her¡¡¡
Is that Blake Edwards just next to Pavarotti?
Blake is behind Julie. He's married to her. The guy on his right (our left) looks like Jack Nicholson's brother. Pavarotti is in front, next to Julie.
Such a beautiful lady ❤️❤️❤️

...listen carefully during the finale and coda; the one voice that stands out is Robert Goulet.
Goo-LAY!
All superb singers. Patrick Wilson was amazing. Puts the “singers” of today to shame (except Michael Buble!)
If only he did another movie musical after Phantom
Love the smile and the hands on his heart Patrick gives Julie at the beginning of his song. Such a Prince Charming moment from him!
Couldn't help notice Blake Edwards chuckling at poor Robert Goulet's performance at 4:51...
what an all-star lineup (honorees)! I think though, Ms. Andrews deserved a bigger tribute... seemed too sparse to me...
imuawarriors I agree. Especially they didn’t put a snippet of Cinderella
