Extraordinary to think that, despite being a huge Broadway star with My Fair Lady, she was originally assessed as being 'not pretty enough' for the big screen. She sure proved them wrong!

It literally makes me tear up despite the giant grin on my face...the perfect talent here is awe inspiring. I was born in 1980 and am sad that I just discovered that these two ladies performed together countless times. Cannot get enough.
Some of that is because the underlying song from about 12:18 - "it must be him", which I always associate with Vikki Carr - is such a great torch song. Carol of course hams it up for all it's worth, until Julie offers the sugar - that _look_ at 12:55 shows Carol's skill at its best.

Two virtuoso ladies loaded with talent galore. They bring exuberance and make all these tunes rejoice in a grand medley. Congrats to arranger and orchestra. The rehearsal must have been strenuous to make it logo so easy. Talent like Carol and Julie were prepared to undergo tough rehearsal procedure. A treasure to behold forever!
This is almost 15 minutes of music. With great music arrangements, wonderful harmonies in their voices, superb performances, amazing transitions, no ego, they make fun of each other and even themselves, they are just a delight to watch and hear. The amount of talent in these two is unmatchable by any current standard! Awesomeness to their best! And Julie certainly is a gorgeous woman!
I got addicted to watching this video, I've watched it maybe 20 or 30 times already. The medley has been in my head for months now, and it doesn't seem as if it'll leave any time soon. I love it!
All of these songs carried over to the early 70's. I was a child. 6 years old in 1972. Beautiful memories of my happy childhood. How clever these two artists are. Love them dearly.
Dame Julie Andrews and Miss Carol Burnett two timeless legends who need no introduction, there work together is just TRULY wonderful, extraordinary incredible talent that brings mixture of laughter and love through the passion of song and dance that lightens your heart time and time again their ability to intertwine musical songs is just phenomenal, there friendship has gone from strength to strength and may their friendship remain VERY strong and EVERLASTING. God bless them both. ♥
Peter Hallat, I have 9 years on you. I was born in 1952. I was a teenager during the 1960's, there was so much beautiful pop music written during that decade. I was also "out of the closet" and PROUDLY, OPENLY GAY BEFORE WHILE I WAS IN JR. & SR. HIGH SCHOOL, YEARS BEFORE THE STONEWALL RIOTS IN NYC. STILL AM, AND I REJOICED AT THE 2015 SCOTUS DECISION WHICH INCIDENTALLY CAME ON THE EXACT 46TH ANNIVERSARY OF STONEWALL.
William Rice that’s so inspirational to younger viewers with old souls! I can’t even begin to process your resilience in such a time of prejudice. it’s even difficult to be accepted now. good for you sir!
I always start at 7:10 the boy from ipanema how come when we went walking no beautiful lady ever said Aaah. That was a joke but I wanted to praise the excellent and amazing choreography of the dance and performance of Ms Burnett and the voice of Julie Andrews I have been listening to this video for the past one and half years and a nice kind person wrote all the songs sung in the medley with a couple of them missing. Again thank you!
Have you a link to the list? It must have been a _phenomenal_ effort (rather like the Tomlinson/Auld Lang Syne medley at th-cam.com/video/z0NgCxCffYw/w-d-xo.html).
Oh why oh why is this lost to our current generation?? Good clean wholesome television! Love Julie Andrews and Carol Burnett! Today all we are left with is perversion 😢😭
How can even 6 people give this a thumbs down? If you don't like it as a "style" that doesn't mean it is bad. I can't stand rap, but many songs and performers display great talent & originality. Ditto the comments on wishing they would bring back variety shows. We NEVER missed Carol Burnett when I was a kid in the 1970s.
they do both have the best chemistry. I am lucky to watched and appreciate this great entertainment from two of the best women that makes justice to great music. Legends indeed! Inspiring and amazing! xoxo miss Julie and Carol c:
😂😂😂😂 as of the moment, no artists can make me laugh, be entertained like this. julie and carol are just awesome! I'm only in my 30's. 😀 Thanks for posting this vid 😊
Carol has such a strong voice, many folks (man or woman) can't really keep up - Of COURSE, Julie matches her w/ no problem. I just love how they go through many songs here, w/ them both totally focusing on the song lyrics.....About 5 mins in, Carol can't help herself.....She just HAS to throw in a visual joke or two or three......All of which get a great response from the audience. You can almost hear the audience sigh, being allowed a break from the intensity of the songs. Leave it to Carol.....She's just brilliant at putting everybody at ease ~
This reveals an incredible difference in time, the performances then were so earthy, and real and something rare today. I must confess though, my eyes rarely left Carol Burnett!!!
*For those of you who don’t understand Spanish...*
This is why Carol Brunnet reigns supreme.
The fact that Julie can keep a straight face is pretty impressive as well.
The fact these women are doing a medley nonstop is incredible and I love their friendship. They both sound great!
My god they could harmonize. Who even does an almost 15 min. (and comprehensive!) Medley anymore?!
Is it just me, but was the world in 1965 classier and more elegant than it is today?
anunnaki2007 of course it is not just you because it's true
yep.
Though I agree the 1900s did have class and creativity and good music , I would say today is still a lot better in general. What I mean by that is that in the 2000s we’ve made so much progress, while in the 60s there was a lot of racism and sexism.
this wasnt from the 60s...this in the 70s.
John Whirling are you sure this isn't the early 70's? She says the music of the last 10 years. This music goes from 71 ish back.
It seems like the quality of this kind of entertainment and class is gone. I'm so glad I was able to be a part of this, back in the 6o's and 70's. I love Julie's voice and her as a person. Carol keeps me laughing all day long. What talent.
Carol wanted some highlights and decided to put peroxide on her hair, (the night before performance). She didn't see any difference and kept piling it on. She woke up and her husband just looked at her. She fried her hair. She said the stylist freaked out trying to make her hair look normal. Carol use to dye her own hair just w/box of Clairol. She's a trip.

9:26 OMG Julie Andrews singing the Beatles... Julie Andrews singing my favorite Beatles song... Julie Andrews singing Let It Be... oh my.
Extraordinary to think that, despite being a huge Broadway star with My Fair Lady, she was originally assessed as being 'not pretty enough' for the big screen. She sure proved them wrong!
I didn't realize Carol Burnett has such a great voice.
Julie Andrews singing Let it Be... wow. Just wow.
So we're not going to talk about how great Carol's look was when Julie started A Spoon Full of Sugar?
meg frazier Well, I know that is the best part in the medley
I wish she had sung a lil bit more spoonful of sugar! Love MP!
She looked like she was ready to kill her lmao
Hilarious! Right?
12:55. Yes, Definitely a LOL moment.
If they brought back variety shows and they were good, wholesome fun like this--I might reconsider paying an outrageous cable bill. Today's television can't go fourteen minutes without a five minute commercial break.
Make-Make we need change, we demand change, no more reality television.
Make-Make Yep. Corporate greed.
Geniuses. They both understand and respect all aspects of performance. They’re consummate performers and extremely intelligent women.
I find myself listening to Julie, but I keep my eyes on Carol. Its not easy singing this kind of duet and maintaining interest and energy for 14 minutes.
Their seamless transitions between songs and key changes is unparalleled! What tremendous talent!!! Love at 11:38 Julie singing Born Free and Carol acting like a lion (which is the basis for the song and movie)...very funny
RIP Carol Channing
@@adeleweiss8130 how is Carol Channing relevant to this comment/video?

I like how they sang all types of genres even a spiritual that Black people marched to during the civil rights movement. I love carol and Julie.
yess true queens 🥺🥺
I believe Julie was a civil activist and donated tons to help different charities and whatnot. So much so, the Queen made her a Dame
Carol could share the stage with Julie - equally. A vastly under appreciated talent.

Lyrics:
We're Sgt pepper's lonely hearts club band
We hope you will enjoy the show
We're Sgt pepper's lonely hearts club band
Sit back and let the evening go
What would you do if I sang out of tune
Would you stand up and walk out on me?
Probably
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song
and I'll try not to sing out of key
(Mm, I get by with a little help from my friends)
Sgt pepper's lonely
Sgt pepper's lonely
(Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends)
Sgt pepper's lonely hearts club band
(Mm, I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends)
Sgt pepper's lonely
Sgt pepper's lonely
Sgt pepper's lonely hearts club band
Sgt pepper's lonely hearts
And the beat goes on
(I dig rock n' roll music)
the beat goes on
(And I love to get the chance to play)
And the beat goes on
(I think it's about the happiest sound goin' down today)
the beat goes on
The message may not move me
or mean a great deal to me
But hey, it feels so groovy to say
Everybody's talking at me
I don't hear a word they're saying
Only the echos of my mind
People stopping staring
I can't see their faces
Only the shadows of their eyes
It's knowing that my door is always open
and your path is free to walk
That makes you tend to leave your sleepin' bag
Rolled up and stashed behind my couch
And the Wichita lineman is still on the line
And it's knowing I'm not shackled
By forgotten words and bonds
And the ink stains that are dried upon some line
And he wakes up in the morning
With his hair down in his eyes
And he says hi
That keeps you in the backroads
By the rivers of my memory
That keeps you ever gentle on my mind
And if that's not loving me
Then all I've got to say
God didn't make little green apples
And it don't rain in Indianapolis in the summertime
And when myself is feeling low
I think about your face aglow to ease my mind
And honey I love you
And I'm being good
(We've looked at love from both sides now)
And I'd love to be with you
If only I could
If the world should stop revolving
Spinning slowly down to die
I'd spend the end with you
And when the world was through
Then one by one the stars would all go out
Then you and I would simply fly away
You and I
For we can fly
Up and away
In a beautiful, beautiful balloon
Do you know the way to San Jose?
I'm leaving on a jet plane
(I've been away so long, I may go on and lose my way)
Don't know when I'll be back again
By the time I get to Phoenix
He'll be downtown waiting for you tonight
Downtown waiting for you tonight
(Downtown where all the lights are bright)
Downtown everything's waiting for-
Slow down you move too fast
You gotta make the morning last
Just kickin' down the cobble stone
Looking for fun and feelin'
Sunny
Yesterday my life was filled with rain
(Raindrops keep fallin' on my head)
Sunny
You smiled at me and really eased the pain.
(But that doesn't mean my eyes would soon be turnin' red)
Cryin's not for me 'cause
You've made me so very happy
I'm so glad you came into my life
Tall and tan and young and handsome
The boy from Ipanema goes awalkin'
And when he passes each girl he passes goes 'ohhhh'
You see this girl
This girl's in love with you
Hey there, Georgy girl
Hello Dolly!
Well, hello Dolly!
Can you tell me how to get how to get to Sesame Street
Sesame Street
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way
Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end
Look at all the lonely people
People who need people
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
That's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No, not just for some, but for everyone
Yes, for everyone come together right now
Oh, put your hand in the hand of the man who stilled the water
Put your hand in the hand of the man who calmed the sea
Take a look at yourself
And you can look at others differently
By puttin' your hand in the hand of the man from Galilee
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
There will be an answer
Let it be
And when I die
(We shall overcome)
And when I'm gone
(We shall overcome)
There'll be, one child born
(We shall overcome, some day)
In the world to carry on
To carry on
The is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius
The Age of Aquarius
Aquarius! Aquarius!
Aquarius! Aquarius!
The only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man
And the only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man
Oh, he was!?
Yes, he was!
That rat!
That dirty rotten-
Woah!
What kind of fool am I
Who never fell
(What do you get when you fall in love?)
In love
(A guy with a pin to burst your bubble)
What's it all about, Alfie
What now, my love
Now that you've left me
How can I live
(Well, I think I'm goin' out of my head)
For another day
(Yes, I think I'm goin' out of my head over you)
Born free and life is worth living
But only worth living
If you're born free!
Doo-bee-doo-bee-doo
Bee-doo-bee-doo-bee
Doo-bee-doo-bee-doo
Bee-doo-bee-doo-bee
Doo-bee-doo-bee-doo
Bee-doo-bee-doo-bee
How long does it last?
Can love be measured by the hours in a day?
I have no answers now but this much I can say, oh!
I know I'll need him till the stars all burn away
And he'll be there
Oh, please be him
Oh God, dear God, it must be him
But it's not him, and then I die
Uh.. keep it, dear
Again I die!
Now, now, Carol dear, pull yourself together
It's just a song!
I mean, remember-
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
The medicine go down
Medicine go down
Just a spoonful of sugar
(Oh, shut up!)
Helps the medicine go down
What goes up must come down
Spinnin' wheel got to go 'round
Talkin' 'bout your troubles it's a cryin' sin
Ride a painted pony let the spinnin' wheel spin
Ride a painted pony let the spinnin' wheel turn
Catch a painted pony on the spinning wheel ride
Is that all there is?
Is that all there is?
If that's all there is, my friends
Then let's keep dancing
Let's break out the booze and have a ball
If that's all
That's all
We're all Sgt Pepper's lonely hearts club band

Lady Gaga did at the Oscars.

Sandy Chua THEIR wonderful medley. A gentle correction 🤓
Amazing list. Thank you.
Julie singing “ Spoonful of Sugar” among all others is such a treat! Love my Julie
I just can't imagine what it must have taken to work out a medley that long...great stuff!
Ken & Mitzie Welsh did a ton of those medleys, often for Carol Burnett (first on the Garry Moore Show, then on her own series, or special one-offs like this).
I have to wnder if they had cue cards or a teleprompter because its so LOOOOOONG.
That was a great decade.
A treasure to behold forever!
goodness the memory that these ladies must have had!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seamless transition!!!
A tour de force performance by two of the greatest names in show business! Well done, JA and Carol!
Carol's comedic genius is matched by her singing talent!
They just keep and going and going!!!!!
Beckieee :D
I love that they do Beatles right off the bat. I love them both so much!
I would die to meet Julie Andrews and Carol Burnett, you can't find talent like this anymore.
I've often thought that - but then realised that anything I could possibly say, they'd have heard so many times before, including that thought itself.
I love it!
Kat still in your head?
All of these songs carried over to the early 70's. I was a child. 6 years old in 1972. Beautiful memories of my happy childhood. How clever these two artists are. Love them dearly.
They were absolutely fantastic then...and guess what? THEY STILL ARE!~
I loved the first one and I absolutely love this one ad well.
*as well
I specially love it when Julie sings 🎶just a spoonful of sugar🎶

EVERLASTING. God bless them both. ♥

oh so beautiful.......those were the days when they don't need a big entrance....that's class!!
I.N.S.A.N.E. I can not like this video enough! Just incredible.
Amazing arrangement and classy performances! Sublime!
I love the singing group Bread. Carol Burnett and Julie are amazing.
What's amazing is that they still look so good.
So many great songs put together in a great orchestration. and performed expertly!!!
id listen to this over the solid gold oldies channel any day
-By the time I get to Phoenix, he'll be...
- Downtown, waiting for you !
I just love how Julie pops out to finish Carol's sentence ^^
The arranger was fantastic.
Carol's face when Julie starts to sing Spoonful of Sugar Lol
IKR
“Oh shut up”...lol. To funny. My favorite part
Talent is talent. In any form. I miss the days when talent meant more than personal opinion.
Damn a lot of good songs in the 60s.
Julie Andrews was so good looking back then.
Erich she is still a fox.
She looks still good
Scullery Maid what a fox?😅 what do you mean with that?
What do you mean by "was"?
They are such PROS. Speechless. I think I watched this with my mom when I was a little girl.
This is the best thing I’ve ever seen. I swear to God.
Will always love Julie and Carol
This age, I wish we have stars who can entertain like Julie & Carol! Julie is my queen! She's awesome in everything she does!
Love that I was born in 2003 and ik so many of these songs. I wish I could have been there to see them sing together
What a great team they were. They could sing together and be funny together. So glad we can see these videos.
It's this type of talent which cemented these two as legends.
💕Well now, that brings back so many wonderful memories!
Thanx for sharing...
Sooooo much nostalgia packed into a single video!!
I treasure this performance ... Love You, Julie & Carol !!!
"for those of you who don't understand spanish.." I love them.
Both Carol and Julie still look great
Oh why oh why is this lost to our current generation?? Good clean wholesome television! Love Julie Andrews and Carol Burnett! Today all we are left with is perversion 😢😭
How can even 6 people give this a thumbs down? If you don't like it as a "style" that doesn't mean it is bad. I can't stand rap, but many songs and performers display great talent & originality. Ditto the comments on wishing they would bring back variety shows. We NEVER missed Carol Burnett when I was a kid in the 1970s.
God I love this. They're both so awesome.
How delightful to watch these two legends together ❤️
The best performers on earth
yep
This is ageless! Love Julie
It NEVER gets tired!!!
i love it when they singing moon river
WOW, THAT WAS FANTASTIC!
they do both have the best chemistry. I am lucky to watched and appreciate this great entertainment from two of the best women that makes justice to great music. Legends indeed! Inspiring and amazing! xoxo miss Julie and Carol c:
Julie. Carol. Beatles. Spoonful of sugar. Omg. Never saw this. I was a kid in the 70s…Love❤
I saw this when it aired. But seeing it now blew my mind.
the great julie andrews..
Absolute talent, both just fantastic!!!
Leave it to Carol.....She's just brilliant at putting everybody at ease ~
major props to carol
This clip is from the CBS special "Julie and Carol at Lincoln Center," broadcast on December 7, 1971.
This reveals an incredible difference in time, the performances then were so earthy, and real and something rare today. I must confess though, my eyes rarely left Carol Burnett!!!
I'm just out of words, this is plain beautiful.
How enjoyable!!!!!
Both gorgeous singers 🥰🥰
Two very talented ladies
Wow..... just wow!
Superbly written medley!!
For any that are curious, it actually does rain in Indianapolis in the summer time.
