    PROPPER locking wire plyers. I spen four years on Jet Provosts. Lots of locking wire on those.
    Very interesting video. Maintenance on aircraft is like scuba diving kit. Regular maintenance prevents failures.

      Thanks Simon. We all know the damage a split rubber can do 😆

    Hi Paul. I have the same engine on my ultralight, and now I know what to inspect for proper maintenance issues. Great video, best regards.👍

      Glad you found the video useful. One glaring thing that I missed from the video is to check the final drive belt. It wasn't until I edited the video that I realised I had missed it. The engine manual shows you how to check it so don't forget to check that as well. Basically look for any signs of degradation (cracking) and also check for tightness. Might add this to a future video. Thanks for watching.

    I got a Crack in my primer bulb too. I found it because the engine wouldn't keep running. Good thing I caught it on the ground.I got rid of it all together and just blow in the hose when I need to prime it.

      I would prefer not to use a primer if I didn’t have to. Unfortunately the Tryton carb on my engine doesn’t have a priming button so it is impossible to blow fuel into the carb using just lung power as the pressure required is too great. Glad you spotted your cracked primer on the ground. First time I realised there was a problem with mine was at around 2000ft 😧

      There were so many rubber jokes edited out of this video! And when the tub of Vaseline came out!! I think I did well to keep it clean! 👍

    Looking good. I'm surprised those carbs are not more common as they definitely give fantastic fuel economy. A good techie geeky video.

    Are you using regular automotive petrol? The E10 can affect rubber and plastic components, rubber fuel pipe disintegrates, plastic swells. E5 is supposed to be better.
    I have found this with Chainsaws and strimmers. There is an alcohol/petrol resistant fuel pipe replacement. Check that the carb diaphragms are resistant. I use a pair of long nose pliers to temporarily stretch fuel pipes.

      Hi Rob. I avoid E10 and only use E5 for that very reason. 👍

    Hi Paul, I noticed the sound reflection control tiles in your last video. Also it looked like a guitar propped up in the corner. Are you a musician?

    • @paulieb796
      @paulieb796  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Tom. I play a bit of guitar but it’s just a hobby. The sound treatment was more due to recording videos for TH-cam in my office which had horrible reflective sound problems until I treated the walls.

    • @tomcoryell
      @tomcoryell 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@paulieb796 I wondered. Most people don’t understand sound well enough to think of doing something like that.
