Hi there. How I end a transmission depends on who I am transmitting to. Eg if I am making blind calls to an uncontrolled airfield on a shared frequency (eg at my home airfield of Darley Moor) I would end my transmission with the airfield name. If I am responding to ATC at a controlled airfield then I would end with my aircraft registration. Also, sometime I cock it up!! Regarding the interference, my engine massively interferes with radio reception which is something I’ve yet to fix. 👍

I would suggest contacting the BMAA would be the best place to start. They are always very helpful and friendly. Failing that, the next best thing would be to find your nearest training school and have a chat with them. I’m having had any experience with the older PPL (m) license so wouldn’t want to give you any incorrect info. 👍

Hi there. Not sure about the glide ratio as this figure isn’t quoted. However the wing has been tested to +6 and -3G. I agree with you that a solid wing is much safer than a paraglider. I used to fly paramotors but was always fearful that the wing could collapse. 🤙

Thank you for sharing that, I'm older & do not feel I've got enough physical ability to use the "parachute" as a wing. So as I research I'm seeing that the powered glider wing might even be more responsive(easier) to control than the those normal controls of other ultralight aircraft. Yes, I like the rigidity of the G's you said. At any time a flyer could deal w/ winds coupled w/ the motor that would push it to stress those wings. I like those numbers you have shared and I'm guessing to get that level of strength it costs a bit more? I'm early on in researching all of this ; TY Again, Sir

Hi there. I have the side tone activated (switch 3) so everything I say into the mic is sent along the audio cable to the GoPro and is recorded regardless of whether the PTT button is pressed or not. 👍

Hmmm. Not sure a jubilee clip would have been strong enough to compress the spring. The two high tensile steel clips that come with the spring could barely compress it.

I get asked that question a lot. Having a wee in the air isn’t an option really so taking off with an empty bladder and not drinking too much before a flight is all I can do. Thankfully the trike can be landed in small places so if the bladder needed emptying, I could just pick a field, land, do the necessary then be on my way. 👍

@@tomcoryell to be fair, I did have a good head start. We are pretty evenly matched now.

Hi Simon. Shobdon certainly was busy. The FISO certainly had his hands full! I'm sure they would squeeze in hang gliders and paramotors asd they were very accomadating. There was a real sense of history about the place, and the cafe is worth the visit alone!!

To me that would be the scariest part. I want less proximity to helicopters and GA aircraft. Wake turbulence and rotor wash just complicate things.

Hi Bernie. Landing fees vary quite a bit here in the UK. However most of the smaller microlight sites have very low landing fees for our type of aircraft, ranging from free, to a small donation to the tea fund. Shobdon is a much larger, busier site with great facilities (fuel, emergency services, controlled tower etc), but the landing fee was still only £10 which I thought was very reasonable. It was an extra £10 to camp under the wing.

Thanks Ged. We did have some fun. It was a bit stressful getting out of Shobdon. There was a real sense of urgency when lining up knowing there were other aircraft significantly faster than me on final. Great airfield though. We'll definitely be back, possibly by road so I can take on the big breakfast!

@@paulieb796 Hi Paul, I must admit I could feel your concerns regarding the other faster air craft coming and going. Safety is hopefully on all of our minds. I just hope I can get my conversion done and then start using my Adam.

Standard rating for petrol in the UK is 95 Octane. We have a choice between 10% and 5% ethanol and I choose the 5% which is a bit more expensive, but less harmful to rubber parts. 👍
