This is shown in concept art which illustrates Luke with R2-D2 in some sort of sparky or fiery setting, which could be Mustafar, now revealed to be the location of Vader's Castle.
They said that the Rogue One won't cross over with the original and new trilogy. George Lucas himself even said that Rogue One does exist in the Star Wars Universe but these new characters and their stories won't have anything to do with the Episodes. That was the point of these Star Wars Stories|Spin offs to come is to be able to tell other peoples stories.
George Lucas was paid 10 BILLION dollars to no longer have an opinion about Star Wars. He does not represent the franchise anymore. There is already a lot of intersect between Rogue One and the classic trilogy. More importantly, they've rebooted the entire universe. Characters that were introduced in the shadow of the Big Three in novels, and then given back-stories later are gone. They can start fresh, build each character not in relation to the Big Three, but in relation to the fight against the Empire. We know now that the government that replaces the Empire is largely useless and gets destroyed. This is a far cry from the now-defunct EU, where the government built itself up rather well, forces the Empire into negotiating for peace, and then gets wiped out by anti-force beings from beyond the universe. However, there is much that is being re-purposed from the EU. Starkiller Base - well the name is the original name for "Skywalker" but more than that, the EU also possessed a "Hyperspace Gun" capable of destroying star systems. (See Dark Empire II) Leia and Han's son turning the to Dark Side was in the EU, also because he was tempted into studying Vader's life by an ancient being. (Legacy of the Force) Clone Wars was over-writing the EU before Disney erased it, (Such as Bariss Ofee and the Mandalorian Death Watch) but also retained a few key elements, such as the Black Sun, Falleen, Holocrons, Kyber (kaiburr) crystals - the list goes on and on. Rebels has following in this tradition, though the recent S3 trailer reveal debunks the Admiral Thrawn theory from this video. (He's back, bitches!) It all intersects now. That's my point. It is all part of a greater picture. If any of these people survive this film, expect to see them paired up with re-cast versions of Luke, Han, and Leia. And if we're REALLY good for SC this year, just maybe they'll adapt Shadows of the Empire into the canon officially, and make it into a blockbuster. Cross your fingers!

I think the person in the healing pod might actually be the emperors master, Darth Pleagus who might actually be snoke. And that is the emperor neeling in front of him. I know palpatine said that he killed him but maybe he just said that to motivate Anakin into joining the dark side. Then after the death star blows up he survives and thats how he got that messed up face. And since he is not a human he could be able to survive in space. Keep in mind that he could manipulate the amount of metoclorians in a living thing to create or destroy life and that could help him survive. but the emperor is not aware that he survived.

I am so hyped for this movie! I love to watch the trailer, but only in english, because the translation of the title is so silly in my language I always laugh when it appears on screen.
If I'm not mistaken because of the recent trailer i thought this before when I saw your guys breakdown so I don't know if anyone said it already, but I'm pretty certain Donnie Yen's character is a Miraluka. Which is a force sensitive species that are born blind. They are efficient and formidable warriors because they see the force as it exists in a literal sense.
A popular theory to why the Storm Troopers had shit aim in A New Hope is because the Empire needed Han, Leia, and Luke to reveal the location of the Hoth Base. The Empire needed them alive, but they had the storm troopers shoot because they needed Han, Leia, and Luke to think they were actually trying to be killed as to hide the Empire's true intentions of locating the base on Hoth.
Interesting to watch this after watching the actual movie. Several things correct and many, many more speculations proven incorrect. Either way, good attempt at analyzing the short trailer. One thing is certain - I loved the movie enough to go back and see it again. I don't do that frequently. They did a good job, in my opinion, to create a bridge between episodes 3 and 4.

Shadow Troopers = Dark Troopers from "Dark Forces", It would make sense if Kyle Katarn is represented in the movie. The Dark Troopers were elite stromtroopers in the game.
I know this doesn't matter to Rogue One , but Rey is a big deal (duh) but when Luke leaves the Degobah system, Obi-Wan's force ghost appears. He and Yoda briefly talk to each other saying : Obi-Wan: That boy was our last hope. Yoda: No...there is another That 'other' could be Rey (possibly Kylo when/if he comes back to the light side) OR maybe even Leia. There is a rumor that Leia has tapped into the Force. By the way, I thing Jin could be Rey's mother.
Those aren't fighting sticks on her back, they're flight sticks. Meaning she is most likely disguised as an imperial tie fighter flight controller or what they call marshals at airports(orange stick guys on the runways). That's just what I immediately thought and have stuck with :)

My theory, they finally steal the plans and after all that drama and fighting them celebrate back on Alderaan without knowing the Death Star just finally become operational and then "fire!" and thats the end of the characters.
In the battle of Jakku, we are informed that a person simply known as THE AVENGER OF JAKKU or collector is searching for some mysterious/secret base. We also know that Del Toro is cast in the movie and played "THE COLLECTOR" in Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America. Could this be a huge crossover movie or point?
Jin Erso=Jan Ors Before Jan meets Kyle, she is an dubble agent that works for the rebels and are infiltrating the empire. Meanwhile Kyle is at the academy of something I don´t know (He was not a part of the war yet). And there he finds out that his parents has been killed by the rebels and decides to join the empire. He meets Jan and finds out that she is working for the rebels but he has a strange feeling that tells him not to kill her and then she tells him the truth that the empire did kill his parents. The empire finds out that Jan is working for the rebels and then Kyle and Jan escapes. After that Kyle is starting not to work for but he decides to join the rebels instead. After that Kyle is bringing the death star plans to the rebels and that might explain the handcuffs. Jan was might captured and handcuffed by Kyle before he joined her side or the empire might have handcuffed her before they successfully escaped.
What if the main cast survives the movie and at the same time doesn't? What if they somehow end up on Alderaan at the end of the movie and left us knowing that they will die?

A popular theory to why the Storm Troopers had shit aim in A New Hope is because the Empire needed Han, Leia, and Luke to reveal the location of the Hoth Base. The Empire needed them alive, but they had the storm troopers shoot because they needed Han, Leia, and Luke to think they were actually trying to be killed as to hide the Empire's true intentions of locating the base on Hoth.

Interesting to watch this after watching the actual movie. Several things correct and many, many more speculations proven incorrect. Either way, good attempt at analyzing the short trailer. One thing is certain - I loved the movie enough to go back and see it again. I don't do that frequently. They did a good job, in my opinion, to create a bridge between episodes 3 and 4.

One thing I would like to make on record.....r2-d2 winds up on the Death Star. So he never needed the plans to begin with. He could have downloaded the plans while on the Death Star. Which means everyone who died in Rogue One died in vain. Loved Rogue One btw.

I know this doesn't matter to Rogue One , but Rey is a big deal (duh) but when Luke leaves the Degobah system, Obi-Wan's force ghost appears. He and Yoda briefly talk to each other saying :

That 'other' could be Rey (possibly Kylo when/if he comes back to the light side) OR maybe even Leia. There is a rumor that Leia has tapped into the Force. By the way, I thing Jin could be Rey's mother.

Those aren't fighting sticks on her back, they're flight sticks. Meaning she is most likely disguised as an imperial tie fighter flight controller or what they call marshals at airports(orange stick guys on the runways). That's just what I immediately thought and have stuck with :)

My theory, they finally steal the plans and after all that drama and fighting them celebrate back on Alderaan without knowing the Death Star just finally become operational and then "fire!" and thats the end of the characters.
I also think that several of the characters will survive, like Mon Mothma, General Odonna, ect.

In the battle of Jakku, we are informed that a person simply known as THE AVENGER OF JAKKU or collector is searching for some mysterious/secret base. We also know that Del Toro is cast in the movie and played "THE COLLECTOR" in Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America. Could this be a huge crossover movie or point?
Jin Erso=Jan Ors
Before Jan meets Kyle, she is an dubble agent that works for the rebels and are infiltrating the empire. Meanwhile Kyle is at the academy of something I don´t know (He was not a part of the war yet). And there he finds out that his parents has been killed by the rebels and decides to join the empire. He meets Jan and finds out that she is working for the rebels but he has a strange feeling that tells him not to kill her and then she tells him the truth that the empire did kill his parents. The empire finds out that Jan is working for the rebels and then Kyle and Jan escapes. After that Kyle is starting not to work for but he decides to join the rebels instead. After that Kyle is bringing the death star plans to the rebels and that might explain the handcuffs. Jan was might captured and handcuffed by Kyle before he joined her side or the empire might have handcuffed her before they successfully escaped.
I REALLY REALLY want Kyle to have his own story arc. Kyle is a complete badass.
What if the main cast survives the movie and at the same time doesn't? What if they somehow end up on Alderaan at the end of the movie and left us knowing that they will die?
It could end with them happily giving the plans to Bail Organa and then pan away to see that they are on Alderaan.
