    The mother's story is full of holes. She claims it to be her first time leaving Leigh home alone... yet not only are there stories from the neighbors of Leigh being home alone before, but she even had a special way of calling Leigh when home alone. Not to mention that while everyone was looking, the mother told Leigh's father that she simply ran away.

    Whomever did this clearly KNEW the habits of the house. NO ONE ELSE would have bothered to put the nightgown in the laundry basket, even if they clearly saw it there. They would have just thrown it wherever without care. Throwing it in the laundry basket was a reflex borne out of repetitively doing it daily over time. It was likely an unconscious act that resulted in a big "Homer" DUH! once he realized what he had done. How this act didn't scream of his guilt is beyond me!

Just because the main suspect is deceased doesn't mean that we shouldn't solve this, at least for the family. Perhaps if funding is needed crowd source the finances needed. This deserves a fresh look with new eyes. This is just my opinion, perhaps together we can brainstorm a viable solution to this mystery.

      @@sheldoneasy8602 hmm, good point. I think it would depend where the blood was located and how saturated it was. The video doesn’t say the smears of blood were wet or dry and pools of blood would take longer to dry. I still think Vicky did it. She had the easiest opportunity to do so. Many times it’s someone in the family who does the deed. So coincidental that it was the first day she was left by herself. She came home after only a short time. Just enough time to establish some type of alibi. Who would know that Leigh was going to be by herself? And to attack at that specific time. The bio father believes it is either Vicki or Barnie.

    • @sheldoneasy8602

      the pool of blood would be dried no matter what since what u claimed above was not only Vicky killed her, but she needs to dispose the body also, things get harder as the hurricane was coming. It can’t be Barney, Vicky has no reason to cover things up for him and if Vicky was the one who killed Leigh, she won’t ask someone she just broke up with to cover it up.

  • @floraposteschild4184
    @floraposteschild4184 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    Well, I'd have a hard look at Vicky. Leigh left alone "for the first time" in a storm, only a 20 minute window (allegedly) before Vicky came home -- time enough to hide the body. The "package" -- who could find all that stuff in a short time and bundle it up except for a family member? The dogs losing the scent in the driveway -- because the body and the killer left in a car, which no one saw? Except for Vicky's of course. And the nightgown in the hamper. Very thoughtful of the kidnapper.

  • @RindaJane
    @RindaJane ปีที่แล้ว +194

    The kidnapper had to be known to the family. This was Leigh's 1st time being left alone. They knew what time her mom left for work. No forced entry so Leigh felt comfortable to let this person into the home... I pray her parents get the closure and able to give her a proper burial. For the one who did this to this young girl... you will get what you deserve. Maybe not on earth but you will receive God's wrath.

    Such a tragic case. I'm just lost on what could be her mother's motive, if she is truly responsible. Yes, Vicky failed polygraph tests, but those are notoriously unreliable. As for why she returned home so quickly, a mother's intuition is a very real phenomenon that unfortunately just can't hold up in court. Given that it was Lee's first time staying by herself and there being a severe weather alert, I can't find it surprising or suspicious that a mother would want to return home to see if her child is ok, especially after Lee didn't pick up the phone. If Vicky was in a former relationship with an alleged abuser and ok with seeing that abuse being carried out on her daughter, I doubt she would have left that relationship in the first place. To me, it sounds like Oscar Kearns is more likely. He was a convicted violent predator, was familiar with and had targeted Lee in the past, and would have been someone who she probably trusted enough to open the door for. If Vicky is innocent, and imo I think she is, I cannot imagine the trauma of losing your daughter in such a unmistakably violent way on the first time you leave her alone, and then being accused of being the one responsible.

    • @VioletJoy
      @VioletJoy ปีที่แล้ว +5

      While it's common to think that there is a very real thing known as a "mother's intuition", it's actually a wives' tale. It's just more common for mothers to worry, but we get it wrong most of the time. There were circumstances surrounding the situation that would have caused more worry - the storm, first time being left home alone, etc.
      I've heard much more information on other channels. I don't remember the details, but believe it had something to do with the timing of the phone calls, the age of the blood, her clothing, and some suspicious behavior by the mother.
      It's possible that her ex boyfriend killed Leigh and then called her at work. She might have decided to leave immediately and then cover for him. Also, all of that could have happened the night before and there was a scheme concocted where she would show up at work for a few minutes and then use her daughter as an excuse to leave a few minutes afterward. I think the info I heard on other channels gave a hint as to a motive the mother might have had.
      It's also very odd that she did not tell the father that the house was a blood bath. Leigh was the apple of his father's eye. I could be wrong, but I want to say that he would not have agreed to let her stay home alone and said he would have taken time off work if he had known. Don't quote me on that though because it's been a long time since I saw the other videos.
      Whatever the case, there is a young girl who was robbed of her future. 💔

    • @Tsumami__
      @Tsumami__ ปีที่แล้ว

      Seriously, get out of here with that mothers intuition garbage. If it was her father, everyone in the comments would be accusing him of being guilty. But because Vickie is a middle class white woman, magically everything suspicious she did is written off by some of you. It’s insane.

    • @whitedragoness23
      @whitedragoness23 ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically with mothers having motives to getting rid of their kids is mainly they don’t want them anymore. They don’t want the responsibility and want freedom. Other motives include life insurance which doesn’t seem to be motive at all in this case.
      Sometime it’s revenge against the father of the child. Sometimes the mother hates, resents and hates the child.
      There were cases were a crazy religious mother and her partner killed her two children so she could be free from them and be in the cult.
      Which was crazy because she could of given them up to the dad.
      Another one was a mother who was last scene with her young son and she claimed she gave him away. He was never found and assumed dead because she didn’t want the father to have custody so she killed him. Hid the body and later took her own life
      The issue is there is little evidence, no body. No known motive, and the mother give give a good lead of some other known guy in their area could of been the killer.

    I remember when Cayleigh Elise covered this case. I don't recall if she focused on the mom's boyfriend as much, but it seems clear that he's an extremely likely suspect. Though I have my suspicions about the mother's involvement, too. I once lost my toddler for a few seconds, and it did not take me most of an hour to search the house for her. When your kid is missing, you can get that done in under a minute. Now, I don't know how long the trip from work back to the house was, but we know it's got to be somewhere in the neighborhood of fifteen minutes to half an hour in those weather conditions because that's roughly how long it had been since she last saw Leigh before calling. So, you're telling me this woman called home, got no answer, let's be generous and say that it took half an hour to get home, and she then spent the rest of the half-hour searching that very ordinary-sized house for her kid before calling the cops? Nope, something fishy happened.

      That long? She was a 13 year old girl who was going to be home alone for an hour. At that age girls in the 90’s we were babysitting 3 and 4 kids, well past dark while the parents went out to dinner and a movie. At Leigh’s age, 13 is plenty old enough to be home alone for a few hours.

      @@chronic_payne5669 right? This comment comes from a pretty sheltered mind. Also, kinda victim blame-y. People shouldn’t murder kids. Whether they’re sleeping in the room next to their parents (happens) or whether they are home alone for a few hours, or whether they are playing in some playground somewhere. My son is 12, he hangs out at home by himself regularly, because he would prefer that, than to follow me around the shops, or come walk the dog with me. I myself am a few years younger than Leigh, but grew up in the 90’s and was home by myself a heck tonne, from about 7yrs old.

    Poor girl. Rest in peace. Quite a few clues are given in this case. First the hurricane. Would a stranger bother attacking in such weather conditions? How could the perpetrator possibly have known that there was a little girl left without childcare? People usually look after themselves in such circumstances, worry about others and stay together. I find it very unlikely for any stranger to strike on that day. Well, never say never.
    Secondly, why the heck someone would have sent the binoculars to the stepfather? What's behind it? Why not send them to the mother or biological father? There's something behind it.
    I don't like to point fingers at anyone but from the very beginning, it looked obvious to me that it was someone from the circle of the girl's relatives. I would say the mother and if the mother didn't send those glasses then I would check if the stepfather had no enemies. I find it strange that one sent them to the stepfather instead of someone else. Doesn't make any sense. You only do it if you want to point to someone, turn attention or show that everything happened because of them. I just hope that this case will be finally solved. Regards

    The mother. Seems like she is one of the large group of women that envy/hate their own daughter. Why they do I don't exactly know but my best guess is that when their daughter is young and growing into a young woman they hate it because they feel old and don't get attention like they used to. I believe there are many unsolved murders out there that could be solved if they simply would look at the women that were involved with the victim more closely.

    Her Dad believing she was killed the nught before is wrong or the blood wouldn't have been wet which would've been very suspicious! Plus any innocent person can fail a lie detector test which is why they're not admissable in court. Not defending that Vicki is innocent but just stating facts. She also wasn't reported to have any wounds on her either which their most likely would've been. Ppl can be killed or taken from their homes in under 5min but my question is who all knew Leigh was going to be home alone that morning? That's where I would start looking!

    I can understand the shoes and glasses being noticeably gone and even the set of clothes...but a sleeping bag? I wonder where it was originally stored that Vicki noticed that it was even gone. If my husband were to suddenly go missing and I'm asked if anything is missing besides him, I'm not so sure that I would notice his 'dove bucket' missing from the corner of the spare bedroom closet....you know? I'm guessing Leigh was removed from the house inside that sleeping bag! Find the sleeping bag and you would have/will have found her body. Why was her gown in the dirty clothes basket? Sorry, that seems like somewhere a woman would put it...versus a man. I'm confused by the narrator's wording at 2:25....she says 'Vicki made the call to go into work that day'. What does that mean? Did Vicki make the decision to actually work that day...or...did Vicki get called into work when she wasn't expecting to work that day? In either case, I don't think Vicki intended for Leigh to be left alone. If that was truly the first time she'd been left alone at home, that must mean that she usually accompanied her Mama to work, had someone stay with her at the house or was dropped off with another adult, right? I think Leigh didn't want to get up and go with her that morning, especially if her Grandparents were going to take her somewhere later. I think they argued and Vicki became physical with her. Might have hit her and bloodied her nose, causing the blood on her gown. Made her change clothes and then...it escalated into something worse. I honestly think Vicki killed her that morning and used work as her alibi and had to call home to set the 'she's missing and something bad happened' in motion.

    I think the father is spot on. The mother knows more than she is telling. I think it is likely that either by accident or on purpose, the mother killed her daughter the night before and spent that night covering her tracks. Then she got lucky that a storm washed away the scent for the dogs to track and that a local man committed a S.A crime against a girl the dame age.
