    I literally lived across the road from this evil man. He ran a terrible puppy farm where a lot of the dogs were sold and died very young. He was reported to the RSPCA on numerous occasions. I wasn’t home when the murders occurred but remember the police activity very clearly.

      That had to be terrible to find out this man killed those women. And of course his terrible business practice of puppy mills and the absolute suffering of these dogs.
      this guy has absolutely no soul to be able to inflict suffering on helpless dogs and then go and kill those two women that he knew for years. What a terrible man.
      It must have felt a bit creepy for a long time to look across the road and see this or remember that.

      I mean I have a dog I've had since about 1.5 yrs. Found on the streets. Pure Maltipoo. He was either abused by his owners and then dumped or a puppy mill dog and dumped. But, since we had him he's leanered spoiling, getting way, getting a sectional to run back and forth on (he's 6 lbs and the size of Chiw) with pillows and blankets on there just for him.

    Him hitting the girls is baffling to me because it can’t even be explained away as “it was a different time”. I grew up in the 80’s and while being spanked by your parents wasn’t uncommon it was unthinkable for someone to hit someone else’s child

    • @nancyholcombe8030
      @nancyholcombe8030 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      It's unthinkable unless you grew up with it. That these three came from an abusive household in the 70s is not so unusual unfortunately. So did my best friend. Grow up with it and you think it's ok to do until somebody teaches you otherwise. My bf still suffers from it.

    • @teambeining
      @teambeining ปีที่แล้ว

      It wasn’t unthinkable where I grew up. It happened. I wouldn’t say it was frequent, but it wasn’t until the later 80s when everyone started suing everyone else when parents started putting their foot down when someone disciplined their kids.

      Spanking your kids is common and normal, my mom whipped me when i was a kid and i did a ton of crazy things, the whippings actually helped me because i did need it. Spanking turns into abuse when you are just hitting others out of hate, when you whip a kid just because youre drunk or frustrated at life...that is wrong.

    Wonder if the “affair” was an actual consensual affair, or if it was a sex for housing arrangement that the mom (or his wife) eventually got sick of. How sad it is that women taking pity on a man they knew to be violent cost them their lives. Sadder still is the fact that they thought that violence against women was acceptable! We've made many good changes about that since the 1980s but there's still a long way to go! Assault, female or male, in any way, shape or form, is never acceptable! The only exception to that rule is for self-defense.

  • @VioletJoy
    @VioletJoy ปีที่แล้ว +11

    No doubt no one deserved to be murdered, but it's also concerning that the mother and daughters were well aware of the animal abuse that was happening and kept returning to the farm. While police were held responsible for returning the weapons, it seems unlikely that the women would have left the farm either way. The whole situation was messed up, to say the least. The mother holds some of the responsibility here. It's up to parents to protect their children.

    • @natashaestes154
      @natashaestes154 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Perhaps you missed where it said the mother and her daughters were in an abusive relationship prior to arriving at the farm. That stuff does a number on your psyche. The one daughter dropped charges. That's why he got his guns back. Are you going to blame that victim, too? They didn't have anywhere else to live. Maybe you missed that part as well. The guy didn't like how the women were running his business and wanting to keep puppies alive. Would you be just as critical of the women if they abandoned the puppies? At least I hope you just missed all that and aren't callous.

      John Lowe was elderly, over 80, and in poor physical condition at the time of the murders. It’s been stated that he wouldn’t have had the physical strength to kill them with his own hands. The woman were stronger than him and most likely would have been able to overpower him. The only reason they died is because he had access to a gun. These poor ladies did stand a chance once he armed himself.

    Odd that nobody made the comparison to the Murdaugh case. The thing that even reminded me of it was seeing the photo of the unfinished front gate area, the Murdaughs also had an odd entrance that was basically just the two walls that flank a gate, but no actual gate or fence connecting, and no pavement on the road leading the the homes. Then you brought up kennels and a shotgun and it struck me as an oddly similar case in some ways.
    Other than that, British police are probably the most inept law enforcement on the planet, which is bizarre considering all modern western policing is based off y’all’s Peel instituted police.

    • @nosmallo
      @nosmallo ปีที่แล้ว

      Shotguns and dogs being out in kennels are pretty common in the UK due to the number of large driven shoots here. Not unheard of for some keepers to have in excess of 10 dogs especially if they are doing consecutive big driven days (bags in excess of 300 birds) and living on the estate where the birds are kept so the entrances aren't always facing the public highway. I know of a few keeper's cottages which are hidden away on estates and only accessible by 4x4s.
