    I am a first time gardener this year. I started peppers and tomatoes back in March and they were struggling to grow. They were staying healthy just not growing much. A few days ago I started doing this method for both my peppers and tomatoes and the growth over the past couple days has exploded! I can't believe how much they have grown. The tomatoes are growing up and the peppers are growing bushier. Thanks!!

    Just wanted to say "Thank you" for all of your videos and the time you take out of your days for us all. I started growing peppers because of you and now my basement is full of them and my wife to be is always anxious mishandling a pepper and touching her face afterwards, haha.

      absolutely true. this comparison was not really about hydro vs not hydro. this was about pure water vs water with nutirents i think. it was a biased test. both plant should have got the same amount of nutrient but in different way.

      most meaningless video on TH-cam. Proves (?) that a plant which gets fed grows faster than one which does not. WOW. Try that with your children. Same results. Except you go to jail. What a waste of time. This is what happens on TH-cam. He's such a star (no pun; Starr?) that even BS videos get plenty of "likes". Like when he bought peppers & put them into jars of vinegar. Jeez.

      Or even better, with nutrients and without nutrients...fed from top and the other fed from bottom to have more variables to be able to actually isolate the most beneficial scenario.🤷🏽‍♂️

    Came again to learn some more. Two questions that I would appreciate your answers for.
    1. What is the temperature under which they grow? I am trying it out in India--very hot weather!
    2. What kind of lighting you have for these plants?
    Thanks very much for your meticulous experiments with control and lucid and clear explanations.

    What if I use fish emulsion is that fine? I've used it once but I haven't seen a big change in my plants like you have in a short amount of time. They are about a little over a month old and they are much smaller than your plants..Also exactly which plant food do you use? The floragro?

    How often are you feeding the plants at bottom? What strength are you using? And are you just giving them the little but if water up to the stone and that's it? Do you water the soil from the top at all or is it dry?

    that should be expected when soil is dry and plant is able to get nutrients only from bottom, but what if plant is watered from top, so soil is moist and can provide some nutrients to roots.

    I found this video back at the beginning of this year, and started collecting yoghurt pots that my wife and I eat. 5 months later, and I have 14 well grown plants that are absolutely loaded with peppers (ranging from standard bell peppers, to Hungarian hot wax, to Birdseyes, to scotch bonnets). I’d like to transplant them to soil though. I have a couple of questions...
    1. Am I likely to lose the peppers? I can live with that as ours right at the beginning of the summer, so still have plenty of growing time left.
    2. Does this method of growing make transplanting to soil easier, as the plants are already being grown in soil, but being fed hydro nutrients from the bottom?
    3. What’s the benefit of growing peppers this way? For the transplanting process? If so, is it better to transplant before they start producing fruit?

    I have a question for you....when using the micro, grow, and bloom nutrients in this method do you ever see a "film" that looks like it could be one of 2 things like a biofilm. Being salt or bacteria sitting on top of the water in the bottom cups? I'm having this issue and it seems to me it might possibly be the bloom portion of the nutrients solution breaking away from the rest and forming a salt layer due to the inability of the plants needing this at such an early stage....does this sound right? Or have you experienced this at all? If so is there a fix or should I just remove the bloom in my mix? Thank you in advance

    Your voice is therapeutic, while still being the PERFECT tone for educating.
    HOWEVER.... The plant on the left was given water only. Why WOULDNT the one given nutrients do better?
    It seems TO ME that between ANY two living things, if you feed one and not the other, the nourished one is bound to do better.
    ButThatsJUSTme.

    • @KhangStarr
      @KhangStarr  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is why I said in the video that at certain size, you need to feed your plants. Whether it be soil fertilizer not hydroponic, they need some kind of feeding to do well.

    • @TABULOUS1
      @TABULOUS1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think I'm probably confused on the goal of the test, then.
      So this test was basically just to show that fertilization is beneficial for plants in general?? That a plant won't prosper with water ALONE?
      I mean -- Are there gardeners who prefer to grow their plants with waterONLY, withOUT feeding?
      I realize I'm probably asking something that may seem odd to most ppl, but I just never heard of that preference, so I'm attempting to learn the full lesson of this test, I guess.

    I like the double cup method. Although, I water from the bottom the whole time, except when am try to get the seeds to germinate. Once they pop up I bottom water. My only problem I have with it, is when I have a LOT of cups going, it takes a while to water /feed everyone. My only other difference is that I use fish emulsion, which stinks going in, but goes away pretty quickly.

      Yes, you can. Just make sure to mix a all purpose mix. Don't over do the fertilizer.

    Thanku. Since ur using 2 cups n d top cup has holes for drainage, i would think that d holes would be covered by d second cup n might suffocate d plant. But since d plant is in a small cup n d plant is still small, it's ok.
