How to Breed Peppers - Cross Pollinating to Create a New Variety.

- In this video, I'm going to share with you a simple method I use to cross or breed peppers to create a new variety.
My Indoor Setup: plus.google.com/1183823642046...
Varieties I'm growing for 2016 Season:
Thai Birds Eye Chili
MOA Scotch Bonnet
Chocolate Scotch Bonnet
Carolina Reaper
Brazilian Ghost - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
I had an accidental cross pollination last year. Thought I was growing some regular pimentos when I planted this year. But it turned out that the peppers I got from the pimento seeds I'd saved made an entirely different pepper! I had been growing some Jay's Peach scorpions next to it in the previous year, so I think they mixed together. The new pepper looks like a pimento, but about twice as large, very hot (a surprise because pimento have no heat), and very sweet! Saving those seeds for sure to grow more of them. :)
Thats really interesting
You know if this could happen like "naturally" if i had 2 or more varieties in the same zone or one next to other??
Thanks for any help
@@alealva9790 I believe this can only happen if there's a wind or some bees to carry the pollen
@@alealva9790 Yes I believe he said he didn't intentionally breed them together, he said accidental cross pollination.
Oooh I'd love to try some, if you're willing to sell. 🤣
I’ve never tried cross pollinating peppers or any other plant. I’m going to try doing this. Thank you for the video, very easy to follow the instructions.

I think I just found a new hobby. this is so cool and you make it look easy.
I appreciate your channel, it's been very helpful for a first time grower.
Who thought cross breeding could be so exciting! I love this video!
Interracial porn is a thing.
I’m naming mine primal scorpion

No you back off it’s taken BY ME how shut UP
@@BlurryBit stop we literally came here to watch hybrid fruits
This is so cool, and way simpler than I thought it would be. I'm trying to germinate Carolina Reaper-, Trinidad Moruga Scorpion- and Basket of Fire seeds at the moment, and will definitely try to cross breed them!
You are totally right, the Thai Bird's eye is a very versatile, good all-rounder that deserves more credit.
Nice vid as usual !
Thank you so much! This is so informative and I love how You go step by step and zoom in so we can see exactly what you’re doing!
I deeply appreciate the clarity of your instructions in this video! Very simple, beautiful "live interactive" description of active plant biology manipulated. No wonder you have become so successful! Thank you. -Bob
best video yet! fills in all my questions! along w your other videos, im now prepared to have fruits all winter, i had a three year thai rooster spur pepper tree just kept in in my window and stuck the pot in the garden during the summer. now maybe i'll have some indoor luck w bells etc.
Love your videos man. Clear, simple content with great sound and video quality. hits all the targets. Thanks so much
Amazing video. I was a little perplexed by reading the process online but your video as very simple and concise. I can't wait to give this a go. Great job!
Wow Khang you have become one of my favorite channels. Another great video. Thanks!
can't tell you how much I enjoyed this!!! thanks a bunch. Really like that you have insisted we don't needs specialist equipment.
New subscriber. Thanks for the time and effort you put into making these videos. They are very informative.
THANK YOU Kang Starr I appreciate this very informative knowledge you're giving. I can't wait for the new growing season and try this crossing technique. Again, I appreciate you brother. 👍🏼✌🏽
Great video!
Thank you so much for posting this, I look forward to watching more of your videos.
Beautiful job. Very impressive. I've never seen this done before with peppers. Thanks for sharing.
This is fantastic! You are a great teacher. I have a degree in Biology, but this is the first time I've really grasped this concept clearly enough to feel comfortable doing it myself, or teaching it.
Thanks for this video, Khang. I just made my first successful cross using your method. I also like doing it indoors using hydroponically grown parents because you don't have to deal with wind or insects, making it easier to collect pollen.
Thank you for this video! I thought this was a much harder process, I'm going to try this next season. You're very detailed in your video, thank you again! 👍
Very informative and simple instructions. Got myself a bunch of Reaper and scotch bonnet seedlings started and hope to give it a go on crossbreeding some of them.
Love it. Thank you. I'm about to harvest habaneros, ghost peppers, red chili's, cayenne and jalepenos my plants look amazing. I have never grown anything in my life and this year I have successfully grown tomatoes and peppers and have fought all the predators.
haha, once again I google search something i am interested in for a garden project and find one of your videos, you have a wealth of knowledge my friend, thank you for sharing it with us all in your very informative videos
Thank you for showing how to cross pollinate the plants, I've always wanted to know plus about the new seeds.
This was a very informative and helpful video. I am going to put this into practice this very afternoon. Thank you for the time and info!
I'm super excited to see what traits the cross pollinated peppers keep! Nice tutorial Khang! Thanks for the tips!
+Rob Backyard Gardenerr Thanks, Rob! I can't wait to see what I get as well.

I learned something new today and at some point im going to use that knowledge. Thank you!
Great vid bud I just started growing peppers and I love it . I will apply what I learned today !
Thank you for the video. It's easy to follow. I am so excited to try this! I'm drying seeds of three different peppers to plant, then I'm going to cross-pollinate them.
Thank you for taking your time to explain how too cross pollinate... God bless you and your family
im gonna do this! we dig up pepper plants and grow them inside every year, and have over 20 varieties right now in 5 gal containers under LEDs... itll be a fun winter project! thanks
and I thought I knew what I was doing when pollinating already open flowers , thanks now I will finally have success
Thanks for sharing, I'm looking forward to trying this myself!
Good job! Good info!
+Catalin Oancea Thank you!
I love your technique for teaching and the demonstration
Very cool, can't wait to try this. My lady and I are growing some jalapeños, habaneros, and ghost peppers, so maybe try a little experimenting. Thanks again for the great video, and channel.
Great info Kang. I'm about ready to set up a system. I have gotten a lot of information especially from a you and a few from the PLC community. Thanks for the referral on them.
I just need to figure out what kind of lighting I should go with. I want to get a indoor tent like you got but not for sure about lights. Thanks for sharing your video.

Very interesting and informative video mate! Thank you.
Nice camera work and explaining how this works! Cool video mr!
Excellent vid khang with nice clear instructions thanks!
Very interesting, I'm gonna give it a try... didn't know this could be done.
I love your channel all about peppers. I didn't know they were such interesting plants and that you can graft them etc! I love the tiny wild peppers, very hot but with good flavour. These self seed all over the place. It would be good to cross them see what happens.
Thanks for the tutorial. Definitely going to try some cross pollination next season. Wish I had done it this year. I'm still trying to figure out what I'm growing next year. My plans keep change as I get more seeds. lol
I think that if you buy a UV light at a pet shop, you can use it indoors to grow plants anytime of the year
@@pezequilibradohace5anos538 I have more than enough lights, too many in fact. The problem here is that the house is just too cold in the winter. We only have a pellet stove and it only runs for a little while during the day. It gets very cold at night, like 40s. Can't grow peppers in that even with a heat mat.
@@gapey sorry, i dont use Fahrenheit in my country, but i believe it’s very cold
Best video on this Ive seen. Thank you!
Great stuff Khang you are a good teacher
Dude, you are the pepper pimp!! I love your vids!! You got some awesome peppers!! I can't wait til next year, I'm gonna have peppers like you, my backyard just flooded with green! Awesome thank you for this information. Good step by step instructions.
thanks, very informative. The tone of your video is perfect. I will give it a try maybe crossing trinidad scorpion and coyote white, never tried cross pollinating before but hopefully it will go well.

Excellent video, much appreciated 👍
Thank you for making this video, This is exactly what i was searching for. I have a Carolina Reaper plant, A Bhut Jolokia plant and a Trinidad Scorpion plant growing. I'm Going to see what monstrosities i can grow out of them for next year.
Did you end up with any monstrosities then?
I want to know 2
The science on this seems to get deep... Did you plant the crossed seeds?! What were the traits?!? So fascinated man! This series would've amazing and years or research
My compliments on your video! Very easy to understand, tank you lots xxx
Great video, very informative thank you!
This is much easier than I anticipated, cool!
thats awesome. very informative and interesting.
That's a good way to keep pure seed too. My peppers are closely planted. I will try this to keep
pure seed. No cross pollination.
keep us updated on the crosses!
What happen we do this on tomato to chilli
@@Forty_Seven_47_ wont work
Why?
@@gachalifereactsshorts7829 they are in the same family of plants but different species. Pollen isn’t compatible. Though with crispr tech they could splice a tomatoes dna to have capsaicin and have almost everything you need for a Bloody Mary in one plant.
It would totally work peppers and tomatoes are closely related in genetics it wouldn't be perfect but it would work
Awesome video, thanks I will try this.
Cool beanz!! Excellent tutorial!❤
Fantastic video. Hopefully I will find a video showing the results of your new variety after you planted you new seeds the following year. You explained the cross pollination very well.
Thanks so much.
