    Awesome video Mr. Starr! I have a suggestion for a quicker way of germinating.
    Dampen a paper towel and put a few seeds on the paper towel then, fold the paper towel and put in a zip log bag in a warm place or window sill with sunlight. In a few days the roots will start to sprout.

    You may want to use a small rock or something that will elevate the upper cup to the height you want, then a square cup becomes unnecessary for the elevation you desire.

    THANK YOU! I planted at least 100 seeds in the garden in cups about 30 days ago. I didn't know at the time hot peppers needed warmer temps to germinate and nothing has been sprouting but weeds. I've watched other TH-cam videos but like your technique best and I might be able to save some of this years planting with the plastic bags...next year I'll do it your way from the start.

    I use a soldering iron and use it to burn holes into the bottoms of the solo cup. Works great, as you melt the plastic it makes a rigid think band around the hole. This way the opening is stronger, and doesn’t crack and tear in use. Makes good for reuse of the cup

    As always, you make the best videos, man. I was talking to a lady at Earl May who said she got so much of her knowledge from your videos. I told her I was making my first attempt using your non-circulating Kratky method. I've got a ton of sprouts still in the starter container, but I do have one Yellow Brain Strain already going the Kratky route. Unfortunately there isn't a hydroponic store within 45-50 miles, and I am impatient with ordering things online, so I made my own Net Cups with a dremmel from some plastic shot glasses. lol.
    Keep up the good work man. Many of us feed off of the information you provide.

    Khang Starr I thank you for all your unselfish work and you giving your time to help all of us learn your techniques for growing peppers. I have watched virtually every video that you have put out it's taken some time all of my bell type peppers are up and doing very well and now a few of my superhot have come up but nowhere near as many as I have planted I guess I just need to be more patient, everything I grow is being grown in my greenhouse it's not very big 30'x 15', and it is my goal to put the super hot in 5 gallon pots minimal. I have successfully overwintered two Bhut Jolokia from last season also two Habaneros and two Big Bertha bells, I use a fluorescent light system for my planting tables, which works very well for all my other vegetables I grow pretty much everything but I start all my plants and the 1020 flats peppers included is it possible that using the flats for my peppers are too small ? The cups are 2 3/4" deep but I notice you use those large solo cups do you think I should be doing likewise for my super hot peppers? Thank you again in advance

    • @KhangStarr
      @KhangStarr  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      HI Alice. It's fine to use small containers for seedlings, but peppers do grow quick and will require much more space. Even with the solo cups I'm using, they will outgrow those in 2 months. What I do is cut them back to slow them down since I can't put them outside anytime soon.

    Looking good, I'm planning on using this method for this year. Going to make a seedling shelf with fluorescent shop lights hung above on a timer. Planning on doing Scotch Bonnets, Thai Birds Eye, Aji Pineapple & Lemon, Cumari do Para, and some neutered Chinense (Zavory & Trinidad Perfume). I have a feeling that I will end up with way more plants than I have room for, I'll just have to give some away I think!

    The second question is... once germinated seeds is moved to it's own container (those red plastic cups) how to water those plants, just spray or fill the bottom of other cup with round base or a pebble inside?

After growing my pepper to this stage( little big leaves) I put them in front of my window which is southern and their leaves are getting shriveld day by day. Very nice video as always. What actually happened to your Frankenstein pepper plant you grafted 9 varieties on? Did it work out, meaning did you get different producing pepper varieties on it? And I would have another question concerning your crosses - do you normally start to grow the seeds from a cross immediately as soon as the cross- pollinated fruit is ripe to advance faster in stabilizing the lineage or do you really wait for the new growing season and only start them in december/ January? I think I would be so curious to start right away :-) can't wait for your next video!

    • @KhangStarr
      @KhangStarr  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The FrankenPepper tree was an awesome plant, but I left it outside while traveling for work and we had crazy rain that week. Unfortunately, the rained killed it because I was home to take it out of all the flooded water. But, I have another one I'm working on, so you'll see that soon! As for the crosses, if you grow it hydroponically indoors, the produce much faster and you can get up to 3 season in 1 year, which mean you can stabilize it faster.

I have some shorter containers for nuts and stuff. It's already April this year, I guess I should just plant outside?

    What light cycle do you use for your germinating seeds? Just put mine under a T5 and running 12-12, is that alright in your opinion?

    What kind of hydroponic nutrients did you use and how did you mix them? Can you make a video on how to use them for my peppers. I am trying to follow using the double cup method like you did on your 2017 in episode 2

    Sorry for the dumb question but how often do you water the seeds.... during that first week. Or is the initial watering enough?

    Hi there! I have a question. I have never grown birds eye chilies and I took fresh seeds and germinated them. And then put into fertilized dirt and covered like in your video. Two days later the have all reached 1-1.5 inches out of the soil. What should I do and is this growth normal? Please help! Thank you🙂👍🏻

    Great video! Maybe this was covered in a previous video, but are you storing these seeds with part of the pepper? Is it ok to remove them and store or is there some trade secret with storing with the pepper?

      I usually remove the seeds from the pepper, then allow them to dry for a week, then store inside small ziploc bags used for coins. They will last this way for 2 season or even longer.
