It's got nothing to do with people not wanting to make something of themselves or not. I could buy 100 of them, but it's an incredibly foolish way to spend money.

Since i got greedy and wanted rtx i sold my 1080ti and now w8ing for a chance to get 3070, sure i can buy 10x 3090 if wanted but f... scalpers and f... miners.

I'm on line at my local Microcenter right now and one dude on line literally said he was here just to sell it on ebay😂 I was 3rd on line so I was able to get a voucher so my 3080ti is secured. There's probably around 60 people behind me and they only gave out 23 vouchers. Everyone else is here just hoping to get lucky. Got the cash from selling my 6800xt on ebay last week and made a nice profit lol. Decided to make the switch after playing on my roommates PC all the time who has a 3080. The raytracing performance is just so much better and DLSS is dope.
I'm waiting for the day where scalpers overbuy and then cant sell their overpriced items. Now that will be an interesting day. It may be sooner than we all think.

@@roosterbooster6238 I have it even worse... I have Geforce 560Ti, my newer card died. Selling what? I'm doomed for god knows for how long. I earn misery that covers rent, bills and food. No decent video card for money that I was able to save in a year. We have it tough in underdeveloped countries where prices for a one card is multiple times month salary and prices are fixed for US standards. And I can't even imagine how it's in Africa and India.

Not everyone is looking to upgrade from a 20x or 30x card though, many of us are still back on 10x or 9x cards. For us this would be a good upgrade I imagine.

@@V_003 Yeah the prices are definitely a problem. It will calm down but not any time soon. Businesswise I can appreciate Nvidia's challenge though. I would imagine they are paying a premium to get chips made currently, the entire supply chain is overwhelmed, pay more to get closer to the head of the line. This translates to higher costs for the product. Then along come the miners and scalpers, who prove to nvidia that they can sell their product for 2x normal msrp levels and still clear the shelves, perhaps more. It's a sellers market right now, but at least msrp isn't $4k currently, it's still 'reasonable' by comparison to what people are actually paying.

imo save money for rtx 50x0. that thing will be a beast that will play 4k/100+ fps. they release a new line every 2 years, so 50x0 = 2024. you have plenty of time to save money

And they did a thousand times. How is this hard to understand. They restock daily. So you try to beat bots daily. You can't. So how do you do it? Well wait for a build up of cards and buy then. When does that occur? Only new card launched.

idunno... $1200 is a high price... but my current gtx 1080 was ~$600 and mostly keeps up with me 5 years later. That was the most expensive card I ever bought, but also the cheapest per-year cost I have ever spent on a card. If a $1200 card can actually keep up with my needs (something the 1080 came close to, but never quite did), and can last me 6-8 years instead of my traditional 2-4... well... that still kind of lines up with what I am accustomed to paying... just all up-front instead of every couple years.
Not saying that I don't want a $600 card that will happily last me 6-8 years - of course that would be better! But at the same time I am not opposed to spending a bit more up-front if it is going to last me a good long while... and with no more affordable options available then I would probably pay the $1200 if I get the opportunity to. But lets be real; none of us 'normal' people are going to even get the chance to spend $1200 on one of these cards. We will be waiting another 6-10 months for more general availability... at which point the next gen AMD cards might be out, and the next gen nVidia cards will be just a few months away.
Not sure what is more wild to think about. That my 1080 will be 6 years old before it gets replaced? Or that a current gen card or next gen card will likely keep up with my use-case for the whole life of the card... just how long can a GPU last anyway? I have a couple 10 year old machines that are still running 24/7, but I don't think I have anything near that old with a GPU in it. But I imagine at that point the upgrade will be like it was from my i7 to my i9... it is faster on paper, and it is faster on benchmarks, but for my workloads and games there was not much difference at all lol. We all have a limit on our compute demands... I think I am close to reaching mine hahahaha.

I wouldn't expect to see that until next year. I have a funny feeling NVidia may wait till AM5 is released, PCIe 5 is actually a really big deal and CXL will probably be the advent for bringing back SLI. Both NVidia and AMD are on the board for the open standard with Intel and its one of those game changers like theoretically throwing in another CPU through the PCIe bus, which although weird has some interesting applications especially for Photo and Video rendering. Its also baked into the PCIe5 standard at a hardware level, so its going to be impossible for them to just ignore it.
Funny thing is, intel's ceo announced that the shortages will last a couple more years

For real. Good games have been few and far between if you don't play literally every genre. So many issues with early access becoming abandonware or asset flips. And then this shit happens, and has stuck around for so long. I'm on a 10 year old build, and have zero interest in upgrading at this point. I can play everything I have great, and nothing new has ended up being worth a damn for me. The one game I was excited for was Dual Universe, and I was gonna upgrade for that, but it ended up being an subscription based MMO, so fuck that. I've been sticking to my Switch, and honestly enjoying it far more, and don't have to stress over all the PC garbage.

I have GTX 970 G1 GAMING now since November 2014. It still runs max settings 1440p 30+ fps evrything. But will RTX 3070 TI be able to run all games at max settings 1440p and max ray tracing 60 fps for a long time or only rtx 3080 ti will last longer? My pc currently is

Fwiw though the card in question is a Sapphire Nitro+ SE 6800XT. If I do Gauss weaponry glowy green on the RGB it would be very Necron tbh but for now I have that, fans, AiO and mobo in a cool bluish white and it looks great with a 4000D Airflow case.
The only cards we can get are the out of stock editions
One thing Linus pointed out was that since the 3080Ti has half the memory, they can pump out twice as many 3080Ti's as 3090's (according to Nvidia).

I’d love to see some budget builds, with second hand parts and then showing us just how far you can push some of these older parts, liquid metal instead of thermal paste, better pads, custom bios, maybe home made coolers, something that might be considered “janky” but improved performance, maybe show people that they don’t have to be trying to jump on the latest over priced and out of stock gear.

My EVGA 3080 TI is awesome! It runs cool and fast and most of the time the fans don't run at all! A very good card as far as I'm concerned. "The price, the price sucks!" My specs: Rog Strix B760-I Gaming Wifi, 12th Gen I7-12700KF, 64 DDR5 4800, 2 8TB SSD's for data storage, 1TB OS with before mentioned EVGA 3080 TI XC3 Ultra all packed in a Cooler Master NR200P MAX.
I think for a $400 price hike, that they're offering only a 4% increase.....It feels like it's just them finding a way to maximize the wafers that they had left over.
I am all for saving ewaste from going to landfill, but not for a premium like this...

I'm 99% sure ZERO 30-series FE cards have made it to Norway, except for maybe one or two review units.
The RTX3060 was for sale on Komplett.no for about 4 hours, they had about 50+ in stock suddenly one day. I was lucky and got a RTX3060 before all was sold out at same price as I sold my 3 year old GTX1080ti . It has tiny bit less performance in games, considerably faster doing video encoding and uses half as much electricity. (need to save power as I am going offgrid solar power in a van).

I was able to get a 3080ti and I built my first computer this year! I never owned my own computer. My dad has an old computer that I could never use to play games in. I'm talking about those boxed computers haha. I've always owned laptops and I would game in them but not even for gaming either. I saved, I built, and waited. I was brave enough to build my computer this year! its insane how things are really. I feel bad for everyone who is stuck or who's been like in my situation. I hear people complaining about how expensive the TI is. Makes sense but it depends on the situation too. That's something not everyone thinks about. Most of the time we buy for the wants. I saved and I been longing to get the best with what I can afford. I'm not saying its okay that the Ti is expensive and should just buy it. My view on my specific situation, I am a first time computer builder AND computer owner saved up to get something like this. If I don't want to spend more in the next few years I'm going to get the best to what I can afford currently. I plan to keep my computer for many years and I want to enjoy the absolute best. Maybe its a waste of money in your opinion, I would agree for those who already own computers and are just looking to upgrade. For me I saw it as an opportunity especially with how the economy is inflating we don't know what's in hold for our futures. It is understandable to be upset though, I'm just sharing how fortunate I am to even have my best first computer being built at the most horrible time ever. It's ironic really you might even feel sorry for me or hopefully agree with my excitement. The cards we receive can’t be sold. They are from the final test run before retail production. They are almost all blemished and carry no actual warranty or serial number etc. I assume you didn’t know how manufacturing works or you wouldn’t have made the stupid comment requiring me to correct you

Steve would be right in a normal market, but in reality, if the card gets resold immediately at sky high prices, it would be pretty stupid for Nvidia to not capitalise on that, and just give scalpers huge profit margins.
Steve is right if you look at the price and performance increase compared to the 3080 FE, at MSRP. But in the current market, if you can get a 3080 Ti for £1100-1300, then it makes more sense than a 3080 at £1500-2000 (current retail prices in the UK). But it's not like many gamers will get their hands on the 3080 Ti anyway.
As for nVidia's pricing, they have just pitched it between the MSRP of the 3090 and AMD 6900 XT. Doesn't make it right for the customers though.
