    This is much better than any modern day showroom heep! Jeep died in '06 when the last TJ and LJ rolled off the assembly line. Your TJ looks brand new, I've never seen a cleaner undercarriage, top to bottom, this Apex TJ is immaculate. I'm partial to the 4.0 I6 but that 4.7 Stroker with all the other exhaust upgrades is tough to beat and totally badass.

    That's the perfect suspension/wheel/tire setup.
    VERY sharp rig.
    Just secured a 2003 X from a friend, can't wait.

    Awesome build. I will be putting a Golen 4.6 stroker in my 03 TJ next month. Still sourcing all the extras in the mean time.

    i’ve watched every video for the 4.7 build. I think i found my favorite guy on youtube lol i have a 1998 tj that used to be my daily for 4 years that has been sitting for a year and was about to go down the turbo route and probably blow up my engine to be honest 😂 But i was getting a turbo kit for torque. (For trails etc.) i want my daily driver back so bad and recently got discouraged bc of a knocking and having the engine previously worked on i think the mechanic was out for a cash grab and didn’t rebuild it right. therefore, making me feel like the jeep i worked so hard on was permanently messed up bc of the boring job or whatever the crap he did to it. ANYWAYS, i just want to say thank you for your series bc i am purchasing the Amc-288LB-2 from S&J and with the help of your videos try to do the engine swap myself. I agree with you on original numbers not being that important on the motor bc i have ZERO plans on selling this jeep. I’m 23 and plan on giving this to my son.(not that i have a son but to pass on to him type of thing when i do have kids 😂) Also i’m in georgia and was trying to figure out where rick was that helped you out? i saw some east coast references but nothing specific. I really think this has been the most influential youtube series to affect me. thank you for keeping the jeep community what it is by your videos and helping others out. You forsure helped me out.

      A jeep with an LS is just amazing.. BUT is never as cheap as you imagine or people like to think, ever; and is not the main drivetrain, its the little things that WILL nickel and dime you to death. And a decent build stroker its a BIG upgrade from a stock 4.0 and you can go turbo later for some crazy gains if you want and the best part? EVERYTHING bolts in like it was before, big pro on that

      @@yepitsme431 the biggest issue with mine is I have 32rh. I'm curious what type of gas mileage the strikers are getting. I don't expect great number since my stock 4.0 get like 12.

      @@jesterofatlas5749 dang bruh you might need some work. my 2005 4.0 4 inch lift 35s gets like 17. I’ve pushed 23 mpg on the hwy if I’m really light. But my jeep is near bout rebuilt. Brand new trans, brand new cylinder heads and headers and intake. New piston rings and oil pump. New drivelines and diffs front and rear (4.56 gears). New ball joints, coils, softer shocks, tied rods/drag link. New brakes. Cold air intake/throttle spacer with a fuel map adjustment. My dad got it for me for college. But You shouldn’t need all that to get your OEM mileage back. Could have some cat/o2 issues or a vacuum leak. Could be torque converter wearing out

      @@roderickclerk5904 nope. you don't mention what trans you have, but if a manual you have a 6 speed, if auto a 4-speed. the 02 has a three-speed auto that is based on a trans from the 60's.

    I had a bored CJ 81 i6 4.2 to a 4.8...got a larger radiator, and threw a school bus heater in the loop, mounted i the back to take care of the extra heat off the bore...i can say right now, the video sound does no justice...you literally FEEL each power stroke thumping away...also had a choke, and could finagle it with the gas pedal to get it to hold at 50mph@1200rpms(it redlined at 3200 no stroke)and would hold 50mph going flat, uphill, downhill, it did not matter as the engine had so much compression and torque...best engines ever in my opinion..just keep it cool, and custom fit a stronger transmission ..that T5 will blow out...3rd will be your power acceleration gear

    1 thing about "break in" there is no such thing as waiting/go easy on a new engine, in fact the first 20 minutes are crucial for the rings to seat properly!! start the engine, looks for leaks/check everything in case and then SEND IT !! the rings NEEDS pressure to seat and idling/low load situations DO NOT help them to achieve that

      I’d have to agree I out a reman 4.0 in my Jeep and drove it normally but with the 32rh 65 pulls 3500 rpm’s and drove it home in the highway about 30 mins motor still runs like a top

      My brother works for a very well known engine manufacturer, all of their engines are dyno tested and are run at full throttle and full load within 90 seconds of being started for the first time. If something was going to blow up, that was when it would happen. That process also does a nice job seating everything in.

      Doing HUMVEEs certified rebuilds after 6.5 is rebuilt we bring up to temp as long as the pressures and temperatures are good a broomstick between seat and accelerator pedal wide open for 20 minutes.

    • @SirChevy
      @SirChevy 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I mostly agree. When I bought a new BMW motorcycle, an old German BMW mechanic told me to occasionally turn the throttle wide open for about 10 seconds, and then close the throttle for 10 seconds. Opening the throttle pushes the rings out against the cylinder, forcing complete contact, while closing the throttle causes oil to be sucked up to the rings, cooling them off. Doing this speeds up the break-in and ensures a good ring/cylinder interface. From your description, it sounds like you're lugging the engine at times. I'd be concerned that the bearings, cam and rocker arms/push rods aren't getting enough oil if you're pulling a hill in fifth gear at 1,500 RPM. Even with a fully-broken-in engine, I don't think I'd do this.

      Just did mine. Pings tiny bit at high elevation with 87 and 9.6:1 icon pistons. If you're careful and don't run it hard, it's fine. But for 20 cents more, it's cheap insurance, and you get better milage to make up for it.
