I have a TJ SE 2000 with 250k miles and beat so many JK and rubicons at off-roading. the 2.5L are really tough, never underestimated them. however yeah, good video comrade, keep going!
I agree with most of what you say, run both jeeps past 200,000k and the 2.4 will still run like new it is an amazing engine, lacking horse power and torque yes but solid

My ‘97 TJ Sport SE has 115,365 miles on it. It obviously hasn’t been driven much and appears to have been garaged most of the time. It has a center console & factory heat and air. I got it from my son, when he bought a new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. He put an upgraded sound system in it. I put neoprene seat covers in it, changed all the exterior lights to LED’s, customized the interior paneling & fender flares with plasti dip, added 4 cube lights (2 white & 2 amber, and also added a 52” light bar). I’m a grandpa that loves my Jeep TJ. Grandma loves riding in it too. It’s a lot of fun to drive.
I have a 98 Jeep tj se. one thing not mentioned was the gearing on the jeeps the sports will come factory with 3.73 gears while the se comes with 4.10 gears to help bridge the power gap. Really don’t notice the power difference between my Jeep that has a stock motor compared to my dads stock sport. And the center console was an option I believe most se jeeps I’ve seen have them including mine. Also the se is a better choice if you plan to swap the motor transmission and axles anyway since you can find them a little bit cheaper

I have a 97 TJ Sport that's still my DD and I use it for mudding and offroad...I like to live dangerously...heh. When I hit about 245K miles I had to get a "new" Jasper engine because my old 4.0 started ticking really bad. I currently have 260K. I bought mine in 05 and on my build sheet it said it originally came with a spice soft top, but it was a black replacement when I bought it, and I've replaced it twice since then with black Pavement Ends and Best Top. My interior is tan and it really shows the dirt and grime. My center console doesn't have a sub woofer either, and I'm not sure if they were replacements, but my soundbar has Kenwood speakers...but the original AM/FM radio. I do have AC, but no CC.
Fwiw, I ditched the factory console for a tuffy locking console, and glovebox. Having a softop jeep attracts a lot of opportunistic thieves. It won’t completely stop someone intent on stealing my stuff, but I don’t leave anything inside the Jeep, that I couldn’t easily replace. Hope this helps.
I have a 2005 Wrangler SE, 2.4L 6 speed. And if i'm correct it comes with the same transmission as the Sport with the 4.0. It does have a tilt wheel, does not have AC or a center console. Has softtop and half doors. Had it on 32 inch Mud terrains for the longest time but currently has stock 2011 JK wheels/tires on it. It holds its own both on the road/highway and off-road. That being said, if you have a choice definitely go with a sport or higher. I plan to do an engine swap down the line when it reaches the end of its life though, which the SE is a better option for doing that.

My 99 4.0L sport came with the cheap table cloth material seats and no console. I imagine there were many variations between models depending how they were ordered.

I've had two 4.0s. One I sold at around 380,000 and the other I accidentally ran out of oil due to a leak at 240,000, and it ran like new. Great motor. My daughter just got a 97 TJ 4cyl with 5spd manual. Runs like a little tractor!! I love it and hate it.
I'll give it until 2019 before it breaks down. Then it will be a repeating cycle of breaking down and getting it fixed, until you get fed up with it and buy a Tacoma. That's how it works most of the time

KyleSVT it doesn't. My passenger does but driver doesn't have the lever below that the cable connects to. I bought my lady a 06' tj sport and I'm waiting til she leaves sometime to make the swap😁 commence husband ass chewing haha.

I bought a new head unit, roll bar speakers, kick panel speakers, and a slim powered sub that I will put under the seat to give the stereo some depth. If I recall, the 4.0 equipped TJ usually had 3.07 gears (manual transmission) and 3.55 (auto. ) The 2.5 TJ had 4.10 gears in manual tranny models, while the auto transmission models had 3.55 gears. (There were several changes, some later year TJ's had 3.73 ring and pinions, etc...)
Are they 16 inch wheels? I have an LJ and want to run 32’s but not have to deal with lifting,,,,rubbing etc...and those metal cloaks are hot but way too $$ considering finding rims with good backspacing...i currently have 30.9.5 15’s

Probably put it in, because for my base model YJ I have a lot of the upgrades like the 4.0, center console, power steering, and A/C, but I still don't have tilt wheel or delay wipers. I requested a build sheet from Jeep and I don't recall tilt wheel being an option for mine. I could be wrong though, not too sure about TJs

@@deadlybladesmith3093 You and your dad should go test drive one. The newer Jeeps (90s and up) aren't like the early CJs, mine feels great on the road and highway. I haven't had it in snow yet though. Good luck!!
i lied i have a plastic cover over the sub woofer hole. pulled my build sheet and it came with a 4 speaker system lol. guess i’ll have to buy a sub and amp. wonder if the wiring is in there though for easy hook up ?
Yeah, i think the 2 door looks better even though some of my friend think it looks too short. Is there enough space in the 2 door if you put the seats down in the back? Also, is the hard top or soft top better? I feel that the soft tops tend to have problems with leaks but i also feel like they are more safe than hard tops because they have no glass.

i have an 04, but mine has a D35 rear end and im nervous to run a 35, do you have any problems with yours or do you have a D44?
My 99 Sahara has over 230,000 miles and still runs great. The 4.0L engines are awesome if taken care of.

the x is like an se that you can option the 4.0l on.
I own a '04 x , 4.0 with plenty torque and power. has the center console and subwoofer. A/C , but no cruise.

Yea hottest it gets here in summer is 90. usually in the mid to high 80s. You can add ac to your jeep from a place called jeep air

Hey man, first time jeep owner here. I’m looking at a 2008 wrangler x. I’ve never owned a jeep before. I know I want a 2 door. Is the 2008 X pretty good? Are there some years to avoid? Engines also? Thanks
If your looking at getting a JK I would recommend getting a 2011 and up. Better interior and better engine

I have a 99 sport with the 4.0 straight 6.
My 97 SE, has factory tilt wheel and a center console, so the only difference really are axles and engine.

Probably put it in, because for my base model YJ I have a lot of the upgrades like the 4.0, center console, power steering, and A/C, but I still don't have tilt wheel or delay wipers. I requested a build sheet from Jeep and I don't recall tilt wheel being an option for mine. I could be wrong though, not too sure about TJs
My 97 SE has a center console and leather seats but no tilt wheel.
I'm 15, and I really want a white TJ from 2004.

@@chrisdavis6853 Good for you! I don't think my parents are going to let me. My dad is convinced that they will flip too easily for a young driver. Personally, I really want stick shift, but my mom refuses to learn and doesnt want to buy a car she cant drive.

You and your dad should go test drive one. The newer Jeeps (90s and up) aren't like the early CJs, mine feels great on the road and highway. I haven't had it in snow yet though. Good luck!!

i have a sport and i didn’t realize i had a subwoofer in my center console lol
i lied i have a plastic cover over the sub woofer hole. pulled my build sheet and it came with a 4 speaker system lol. guess i’ll have to buy a sub and amp. wonder if the wiring is in there though for easy hook up ?

Same here. My 97 SE has the center console like the sport and has a tilt steering wheel.

Not all sports come with a center console. Mind doesntand it only has 1 cup holder
The 4 cyl blow up all the time ... I had one and it did... as many have. I wouldn't buy a 4 cyl if you are looking
Wow I guess I bought the worst TJ model you could buy. 99’ SE 2.5, that’s what I get for making an uninformed purchase. Still a blast to drive though.

I like the size of the 2 door. But 4 door has more space. depends on your needs
Yeah, i think the 2 door looks better even though some of my friend think it looks too short. Is there enough space in the 2 door if you put the seats down in the back? Also, is the hard top or soft top better? I feel that the soft tops tend to have problems with leaks but i also feel like they are more safe than hard tops because they have no glass.

me my mom and dad used all the money i got to get a jeep tj with stick because mama didnt raise no spoiled liberal and i had found and bought a TJ SE for 5k at 15 god is amazing
