      Yeah, they are a joke.
      In general, I think tenancy/land rights are twisted af.
      If you are doing things legally, they heavily favor landowners.
      If you are not doing things legally, then they heavily favor squatters.
      Is it so damn hard to get this stuff right?

      Its actually a good law to prevent empty houses owned by rich people who dont give a crap. But you need to give the owners enough time. 30 days is literally nothing. What if you go on a long vacation or travel around the world?

    • @advertslaxxor

      @@realglutenfreeI disagree, I don't think it's a good law in the slightest. The solution to that is to raise the cost of having these empty properties (or -- in an extreme circumstance, say you can't own them), not to encourage criminal behavior.
      I doubt this will change anytime soon. Politicians either own property, or they have varying levels of friends who do. Some who might be less inclined to continue their contributions if anything changed :)

    Ok so your parents come into your house and claim squatters rights since it's just word against word and the police can't do anything. At the same time they also get jobs which means they'd have to leave the house at some point. As soon as they leave the house, call a locksmith and change the locks, and then throw out their stuff. Like what are they gonna do? If it's word vs word and they're not in the house and are without a key, then what can they do?

    • @mgntstr
      @mgntstr 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +43

      Would have been illegal. You can't evict someone without proper legal notice, and if they're claiming residency, that has to be disproven through the courts first before an immediate eviction would have been possible. Going through standard eviction proceedings was the faster and easier option.

Meaning that if OP did something bad or sabotage the business they do something five times is worst to OP because from what he said he had the experience where if he did some thing they do something back to somebody even more horrible so that’s why he didn’t try to lock the doors on them or toss them out because they are the types that think that they can do what they want to people but heaven for bid the repercussions of their actions. I’m just hoping it all honesty that those parents don’t come back in to Opie’s life because I have that feeling that when the father or mother passes guess who’s going to be pounding on the door saying that they need money for X funeral because they don’t wanna be bothered by paying for a burial or cremation.

    God I wished I had grandparents like that. My entire family abandoned me in AZ after CPS took me away from my mother and my estranged father was granted custody of me via courts/CPS in upstate NY when I was 14. I was locked out of the house with my underwear on the front lawn at 16 and homeless "because I didn't listen" I was on the other side of the country in a strange state I didn't know my way around and nobody to turn to. It was before Facebook and cell phones or else I would have looked for my step dad. It was devastating.. especially after the entire CPS/foster home ordeal as well. My mom actually cared about me, but she wasn't perfect and messed up. My estranged father was a control freak with anger issues. I've lived a transient lifestyle since and can't seem to figure out how to get and afford my own place or a car. I wasn't taught anything about cc or how to live. I was just scapegoated and punished until I was locked out. I was stealing food and eventually got arrested and they tried to release me back into his custody at 17 where he could be an absolute toxic narcissistic control/power freak. A toxic warden. He scared me in a deranged loose cannon monster kind of way. Eyes all bulging and stomping towards me like an angry ape bucking and physically intimidating me. I'm also an only offspring. Life has been tragic and lonely for me and I'm still lost in my early 40s. 😢 You were blessed with angels for grandparents and demons for parents. God bless you.

    You still have to prove you've been squatting there in some fashion, at least in Australia, not sure about the states - This is proved by having a flow of mail, bills or some other paper trail that proves you've been using it as your home for, at least in Oz, two years. Without it, your "I have squatters rights!" don't mean squat. A lot of odd inconsistencies with the story, too.
    There's legit no way that it could go;
    "These people are trespassers in my house, they BROKE in, the house is in my name, and they're not welcome!"
    "We have squatters rights! There was a VERBAL agreement!"
    Police: Oh, well I guess we'll just f*ck off then.
    At that point you could just break into anyone's house, set up a little bit and say you're legally there, sue me.

    the description of the crappy studio doesnt sound as bad as i have it tho completly different not serious situation
    did u know in most countries if a place is deserted y the owners not sold or anything just left to rot anyone can claim the land and house as their own by going to the council stuff. if they come back filing for their house back as long as u kept payments up and made it cleans again and shown signs of keeping it that way you own it without buying the property or anything just electric water and simple stuff.

    • @mgntstr
      @mgntstr 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      unless the owners payoff the council with a promise of a slice from the property sale they can squeeze out of this ILLEGAL squatter who so rudely occupies their property🤯🤯

    • @bobtony3332
      @bobtony3332 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mgntstr as i said left to rot so like an owner who left their dog to die now doesn't own the dog maybe the neighbor has taken care of it and if their is enough proof to be provided that they left it for ages without any way of keeping it clean like i said they now own it. if the original owner tries to file a case after they cant since it was already confirmed that it was forgotten and left and if they want it back they will have to pay for the renovations done to it and all the other crap. so it would not be trying to get it back. that's why if u see any vids on yt they'll usually see if the council is ok with this and papers are made. if u don't do that the owner and council could be very harsh on damage to property so all ways claim before use when doing this.

    problem with karma is that sometimes they favor rude or evil people that cheats and ruining other people's lives over hardworking and kind people who are trying to live a honest life or help others. I hope that this kind of similar thing doesn't happen to obut we can't stop it from repeating or happening to many people.

    This squatters law thing is, so faulty and has many loopholes. There should be an official document that can't easily be copied, that should be signed if you are to let someone live in your house for more than 30 days. If someone can lie, with just; keys, mail redirection, plain words e.t.c
    Then it's clear this law was made without a lot of thought. As per many other laws in the USA.
    i.e the anti abortion law, that was made without the consultation of any medical professionals, which results in; women in need of an abortion because of a non viable fetus and thier lives in danger have to fight in court for a common medical procedure. What a great country!

    I think that karma did come for them when they were bankrupt and now its already passed.
    OP could also be dealing with some form of trauma which could be why he is single and it could affect his kids in a negative way (e.g giving them too much, being over involved in their lives etc...). He is even still monitoring their behaviours.
    I think that God gave OP the chance to either help them or not and OP chose not to. I dont think that God would punish him for not helping but he also wouldnt get any additional blessings. Remember that God is always forgiving us for the things that we do wrong
    OP should have made therapy with them a requirement for them to stay even if it was a bluff so that he can understand their reasoning better, maybe build a proper relationship with them or if they cant build anything then atleast he would be able to fully move on

    These fucking stories are heartbreaking. I’m a trans woman and my interactions with my family have not been very good at all since coming out to them at 19 during the pandemic. I also wound up leaving because I knew I could not be myself in that house. I even made the arrangements to do so in secret or otherwise under false pretenses before I came out to them because I knew that if they knew I was planning to be out for good and why, they would forbid me from doing so. Which would leave me at greater risk than if I had just made the arrangements in secret. Those arrangements kept me from ever having to be homeless, and fortunately I had already gotten into universities and mostly attended off of scholarships and loans anyway (my family didn’t have much money at any point after 2008 for us to be able to afford anything out of pocket). If either of those things weren’t true, I’d have spent winters in a tent on the side of the road somewhere with nowhere else to go too. And as it turns out, I actually had a wellness check called on me and was checked into a hospital with suicidal risk only a few days after moving out (it was the Sunday before Biden’s inauguration and school actually started back again that week). The fucking stress of the whole situation still makes me make financial decisions I probably wouldn’t make otherwise to this day. I’m also naturally empathetic, and the words chosen to tell this story communicated the anguish to me very well + the music and background video lighting sets the mood very effectively, so like I was saying before these stories are hard to hear. Honestly idk why I still even bother listening. I guess just so that it can be true for the universe that someone did care about them and their story enough to listen to their voice. I hope OP is doing better these days. Not that I think I could be of much help even now since I graduate this month but I don’t have any work lined up even after months of searching and my lease ends on the 28th, but if there’s any way I can make the situation any better for anyone else who might be struggling, reply to me I guess. That goes for OP or anyone else that might be interested
