In the end ex husband says we act like he dropped his kids on the side of the road. Maybe not ANYMORE. He litterally insulted his toddler 2 year old where the daughter might've honestly got some emotional traumas. I myself have struggled with bullying and fake friends which (yes i know not the same thing but will probably lead to same things) has made me say sorry because i exist. I believe the daughter might grow up to have the same trauma for the reason that you f*cked up, and she'll (maybe) never be the same even with a relationship with him. So deserved and honestly i think ex shouldnt have the right to see his daughters. I dont know if this reason is valid but knowing how sh*t having to feel like a burden and say sorry for practically everything i think it is valid.

Honestly i just think the husbands side of the family is just insane . Like if my side of the family had only give birth to boys for multiple generations and then a girl appeared , i would gasp and probably say something like "The curse has been broken , she's the chosen one!" and then cheer .
On my dad's side there was this. Just a TON of boys. Generations back. The occasional girl sure but like 90% boys. No one has ever assumed anything when one of my cousins has a daughter or anything like that. Everyone is just as happy. Sure jokes have gone around to the women who marry in that they need to be ready for a house of boys but when they have a daughter everyone is just as happy for them. So like this is the weirdest thing that they would believe someone cheated or anything to that degree because of something like this. Like common science dictates that there's basically always a 50/50 chance and variance from that is the result of happenstance so how does a whole family get to be so dumb?
something similar happened to me and my husband. his mom had 3 babies and all were boys. our first baby turned out to be a girl. mother in law was excited! she threw her hands up and shouted "YES!" she has been a part of our daughter and recently, our son's life since we brought them home from the hospital and loves them both very much. not to mention, both look just like her son

It’s absolutely not 50/50… it depends on the father’s genes. There’s also one hypothesis saying the timing of ovulation affects the baby’s gender. Not to mention if you just wanna talk about the population average, it’s closer to 51/49 in favor of boys anyway.

The probability of either male gametes to reach the egg is 50%. It’s simple and there’s nothing more to it.

Idk why the family has this strong belief about boys being birthed for generations type of thing and what matters is that the baby is safe. Pressuring a pregnant woman doesn't make you look better it just makes you more of a jerk. Unlike guys women can't control how they feel because pregnancy is the reason for their mood swings and it can't be helped yet some people think that the behavior is a bad sign of dishonesty.
The ex-husband didn't get verbal, mental, emotional and physical abuse like the wife did. She protected her belly and took the hit of the snow globe to the head and what does the husband do? Straight up leaves her when she needs him.
Nobody wants a man who isn't one to keep his word and actually does his role as a husband and father to his family. if ur husband's not on your side 100% of the time, it definitely is a horror story but irl. my mother in law is great now, but at first she hated my guts for no reason. once when we were alone i even asked her "why do u hate me?" she responded "i don't hate u, but i definitely don't know why i don't like u". it wasn't until after 6 months into my first pregnancy she finally started to soften up around me. and after i had an unplanned c-section, she helped me out with the baby a lot. i call her up randomly sometimes just to talk now

Because he started siding with his mom because she convince him to think that his daughters weren't his because they were girls and in their family they had never had a girl in a very long time. If I were him I would stick by my wife's side no matter what. I would do the DNA test but not because I don't trust my wife, it would be to prove to my mom that she's wrong. Of course my mom is a good person and she loves her family. And while in our family it's mostly boys, they aren't against it when it comes to girls. I mean look at my oldest brother, he had a son with his baby mama and 2 boys with his wife, and has a girl with his wife. My sister doesn't have a daughter as she had 2 boys with her husband. But at least my mom didn't freak out when my brother and his wife had their daughter.

I'm prefacing this with stating that this is not encouraging self harm, but the dude needs to take a look at himself and realize the world would be better off without him as he is now. WHY do mods take down stories that are "too popular" and "get too much attention." It means they are GOOD and IMPORTANT.

Had OP and Hubs never gone to that dinner and just proceeded with the original plan they'd probably still be together and Hubs would probably have never even had so much as an intrusive thought about it.

My cousin was similar but it went in a completely different direction.
My mom's side of the family only has girls. She, my aunt, me, and the oldest two of my three cousins, all born girls (I'm trans ftm, but I was born female, so I count myself too)
My aunt has some health issues and had to do in vitro for the two girls. It was thought to be impossible for her to conceive naturally, and impossible for our family to have a boy. Then came baby #3, an actual miracle baby by many standards. A surprise baby boy who was conceived naturally. The family was awestruck and believed him to be a blessing from God (most of the family aside from me and mom are very religious, Irish Catholic). Then, when cousin was 2 or 3, he was diagnosed with Autism, and the family did a complete 180. Calling my aunt a failure of a mother who couldn't raise her kid right, God was punishing her, etc. Because her kid was autistic, something genetic that she couldn’t even control. So she cut ties with all of them, left the church, and joined my mom and I as the black sheep of the family. My uncle and dad have the cooler families anyway.
Autism is not a punishment from God. And those who claimed it is, just follow the religion that was twisted by man's ego.

She was actually the one that helped me figure out that:
1) I am also autistic
2) noise canceling headphones are a godsend
3) some ADHD meds just don't work and you need to find ones that do rather than suffering through it.

My mom been in a similar situation, except it was her ex-husband who was abusing her even when she was pregnant. My mom's "mother" did nothing and didn't care, so she was unfortunately stuck in the situation even after my siblings were born. Though she luckily escaped and found someone who truly loves her (my stepdad) and has been happily married for 17-18 years

My dad side was like that. When my older brother was born, many people wear traditional dress to visit at the hospital, and when I was born, they sent condolences like someone passed away. My dad didn’t come to the hospital to witness birth but he said he fell in love once he visited me. Anyway I didn’t experience any extreme favoritism or mistreatment growing up, I only hear that story from my mom and aunts and dad confirmed it.

Honestly this story is just sad, and it's a classic case of manipulation on the part of the mother. The ONLY fault OP had was not telling her husband about the comments sooner, maybe then everything could have been avoided. But even then, better OP find out what a momma's boy her husband was, and how he acted like she was the only one at fault for a long time. He even admitted how he was ready to just sign over custody entirely, an that says poorly about him. Obviously he wants his old life back, his wife was a wonderful person who remained faithful to him, and he ALLOWED himself to be poisoned against her.
