Spanish and Persian are both Indo-European languages that have some similarities in their vocabularies. Spanish, however, is a Romance language, while Persian is an Iranian language. Spanish is the official language of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Spain, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Persian (Farsi) is primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, as well as some other regions in the Middle East and Central Asia.

Mel Par not all Afghans are Persians. The Tajik ethnic group in Afghanistan are Persian. Not only bc they speak Farsi because during the Persian empire of the Safavid and Saffarid Dynasties the Persian people had a migration to the east which began the Persian ethnicity in Afghanistan. You think a people would not leave their mark on other countries? These people settled here and became part of different countries. The Pashtuns is who Afghans were created for. The Farsi word for Pashtun is Afghan. So do not make statements when you don’t know anything you are talking about.

I have Assyrian friends but I'm looking for ones who would love to participate, I don't want to force them to do it haha. And if possible, with the words/phrases, could you reach us through facebook or instagram (myself or @shahrzad.pe), just cause a lot of comments on here can easily get missed. Thanks again :)

Very interested in Assyrian and Armenian. Cant wait to play this game as an Armenian, want to see how many words I can nail. A lot of words here there are the similar ones in Armenian too:
Sapoon( Soap) (We have "Ochar" as well)
      Baderjan ( Eggplant)
      Jahel ( Young )
      Shakar (Sugar)
      Shakmat ( Chess)
Zeytoon ( Olive) (Also have "Tsitabdoogh")
      Nareenj (Orange)
      Pretty amazing.

Maybe a good Idea to do Dutch and Persian, I have been teaching dutch to refugees in the first decade of this century. Half of the classes were filled with speakers of persian from Afghanistan and Iran very nice people lot of humour!! and they were speaking a lot of persian to eachother After a while I started to get used to sounds an i started topick up a lot of words which were either related to Latin languages or to germanic or both, and there were even words i could relate to ancient greek. I guess I would learn persian rather quick if I would go to study it in Tehran. As a dutchman I sometimes ask myself how Persians (and argentinians) swear since everything sounds so sweet to my ears ;) but i am quite sure they find a solution.

It's "funny" how we nowadays are taught that Persia was the anti-thesis of European culture, when in fact it is a continuation of it, or dare I "blaspheme" and say that perhaps it is even the other way around (or rather the truth is in the mix - not the middle). If you study ancient Greece and it's mythology, culture and language, you come to understand the very close connection there, between Greek and Persian! Driving the point home if you pay attention to the words chosen here, many if not most of them have the same root as the English language too (father, orange, soap, young, sugar, mother...)!
PS. I know I'm stating the obvious but, I think Tala is Beautiful!
