I'm back with my reaction to #YoungRoyals season 1 episode 4 and I'm so excited to finally be able to post it because it's one of my favourite episodes so far!
#Wilmon still give me life and I'm amazed by this show, truly!

@@lectrice_lunaireEven if not shown on screen Wille technically didn't have to call Simon. Text messages (and call history) don't dissappear after you delete a contact. They stay in the history with phone number still showing.
My point was, he could have easily looked it up.

THE WAY THE ENTIRE FOOTBALL FIELD SCENE WAS IMPROVISED- IM SOBBING
THEY ARE CRAZY TALENTED AND FOR WHAT? OUR TEARS!
WILHELM LITERALLY REMEMBERED SIMON'S NUMBER HIGH AS FUCK
When I think about the fact that in the football field scene, Wille went there because it was the only place he ever felt normal (Rosh’s football game) and that he tried to jump on Simon’s back because he did the same thing with Erik the last time he saw him, my heart crumbles.
The last part about Erik... Pls stop 😭 I hate you and love you for this comment omg!
I loved that, too. So sweet! The hug he gave him earlier is similar to the hug he gave Eric before he left his room, too. Like so tight and strong, not wanting to let go.
@@readwritehike2869 and that is when we actually realize Simon is not just a crush for him, Wilhelm is in love with him, wants him in his life as much as possible.
Edvin improvised the football field scene. Not bad for a 17 year old actor.

Yeah the metal people line, he said, came off the top of his head.
Rojda (director) and Edvin are phenomenal together, they did the scene so well. Edvin is an amazing actor. I hope he will get more challanging big roles he deserves in the future.
When Simon asked Wilhelm if he remembers what he (wille) said, he sat up like that because he was nervous and embarrassed, we all get that way after we drunk dial people lol.
And in regards to you wondering if they were moving too fast, you gotta remember these are two teenage boys. Teenage boys are pure hormones lol. Not to mention they’ve been pining for each other for weeks and they’re like each other’s only friend atm. And the chemistry is seriously hardcore. I’m not at all surprised they progressed so soon lol
I realized that afterwards lmao I was so embarassed like not me thinking Wilhelm had a boner 😭😂 Also about the "too fast" part, I get that, I really do. But I was just surprised by how... bold Wilhelm was in that moment for a second... But like in a good way, I was just taken aback lmao
@@lovemyshelf yeah me too!! I was so glad it was Wilhelm making the first move in that moment. Because he’s always so anxious and self conscious. It was great seeing him let his guard down and just go with his feelings

And I loved how Simon reacted. He realized that Wille was anxious and said "it's okay," which is what calmed Wille down and made him laugh. So sweet he can already read him so well.
I get how it seems fast, AND it makes sense. Wilhelm has been wanting physicality and holding back, so in his vulnerability AND with Simon being so thoughtfully there (and trustworthy), it makes sense that this is where he would allow the sexual vulnerability. The good news is that it was done from trust as much as it was done from need. All the feels with Simon going to see him and keeping watch, even with his heart broken. Also kudos to the writers for letting Simon be angry and push Wilhelm away in all his drug-induced affection. That actually makes sense (and Simon is probably so sick of the flip-flopping by this point... another reason I think the intimacy was used, as it is a sign that Wilhelm was.committing).
As for security, they tend to sit outside the door waiting (this has been what we have seen over and over), where Wilhelm left through the window.
It seemed fast in the sense that I was not expecting them to... 👀 you know... But you're totally right about the need and want for intimacy! I guess it didn't click for me at the time bc I'm ace, so I find comfort and intimacy in other ways, but it does make a lot of sense, this need to be vulnerable in that moment and bare themselves in more than one way 🥺 it just made the scene ten times cuter 😭🥺
@@lovemyshelf Can totally see why that wouldn't be where your mind went. As someone who often mistook sex for love/appreciation, my brain does go there. This is partly why I was happy this moment came from a place where Simon was asking the right questions.
Why was his first reaction to FILM? Like he sees them *doing stuff* and he’s like “oh, let me get this on camera!” Like, what?
i agree that it's fucked up but i think he just wanted to see who it was without getting caught and using a camera makes that possible
I think he wanted to tease him later like "hey look what i've got", thinking he was with a girl at the time and sadly i'd say it's a very "today" thing to do, filming i mean :/ still mess up tho!

Wille couldn’t even look at Simon when he ended things. Simon is facing in toward him and looking at him but Wille was facing out and forward like he had blinders on. Didn’t look at him one time😫 then he little anxiety attack thinking about Simon killed me.
Wilhelm must be protected at all cost
@@lovemyshelf I think Wille has anxiety and I’m curious to see if they’ll dive into that for his character development. This was the second time he had a little anxiety attack and couldn’t breath.

I think the show meant to bring this out in you. Good for you. It also is a really great depiction of the fear of being outed we all go through as LGBTQIA, but made bigger due to his royal status.
Wilhelm is 16😊 in Sweden you start high school when you're 16(or at least the year you turn 16).

It makes me sad that people expect the worst from Felice other than being hard edged due to having to keep up with her mom’s expectations she’s been kind.
It's totally on me! I'm just used to writers making messy characters out of someone like her, but I really like her now!

@@omaracbabazer9112 haha, I’m all for it ❤️ Have you watched SKAM? As I said, I’m in my 40s and I know and have met many adults thanks to the show. Most of us work with teens (I’m a teacher for this age group) or have teens ourselves, but yes. My husband loved that show, too. In Norway every age group watched it back then. My mother was like 75 at the time, and loved it too.

@@Svtmme73 yes! I watched Skam and it's many iterations. However, I respond differently and more strongly to Young Royals that I found myself looking at youtube video reactions desperate for someone to talk to about it. The last time I ever felt this way with a visual media was with Jongens which is a dutch indie coming of age film. I just love how they are the center of the story with no confusing subplots and there's no unneccessary drama and both films focused on the thrills and elation of first love. IDK I'm completely obsessed! You said you are teacher, how are the kids receiving YR in that region? Hopefully strong because we need a second season.
Have you seen the video with Omar and the choir singing live in Stockholm? With Edvin there as support? It will lift your heart back up.

It was fast, but it's part of what makes Wille interesting in all his denial, is that he's not really denying the attraction, only what he plans to do about it. Not that Simon knows that, rejection would still feel like rejection.

I don't know if someone said this here as well, but the football pitch scene + what Wille said in the phone call was completely improvised, whereas any sensual (or sexual) scene was part of a work with a specialist and they "choreographed" them.

You should really check out Omar’s music (Simon) he’s amazing!! He also was in a group years ago, called “the fooo” and then “fo&o” when a member disbanded, a group that I was a fan of while everyone else was one direction fans😂💖
This was one of my favorite episodes of the season. Or well they're all my favorite but this was such a standout with the football scene and them getting together. So much cuteness I can hardly stand it but in a good way. Anyway once again I really enjoyed your reaction. It's like experiencing the show again for the first time through you and I love it!

This episode really showed wilhelm’s grief for the loss of his brother really well because I could relate to what he was feeling bc I have lost family members before and all I wanted to do was be alone and not even interact with my friends

That was a very emotional episode for sure.
Take it easy, we can get very deeply invested in these characters but it's a story.
But yes, one that moves mountains like Simon's song says.
I'm sure most of us have had a number of tearing up moments with this series.
And the truth and tenderness that Edvin and Omar are bringing to these beautiful scenes (both together and apart) is extraordinary.
It's okay if I get negative comments for what I'm about to write:
This show was directed by two wonderfully talented women and because of that there's this gorgeous vulnerability that they capture.
I hope you give yourself a moment before going deeper into the episodes.

i want more people to appreciate that the football scene was IMPROVISED. and what not a lot of people know is edvin said that he was so in the zone that even after it was recorded, he yelled (jokingly) at a few passersby because he was SO in the zone. thats a talent ive never heard of in my life- especially from a young actor like him. edvin is just beyond crazy; i have no words for him

Very interesting take on the Simon's dad thing... Idk if that's the case though bc I don't remember chronic back pain ever being mentionned for his character in the show... From a writing perspective it would be really tragic and well thought of tho!
Again... for the intimacy scene between Wilhelm and Simon, you have to keep in mind that I'm asexual. I don't experience those kind of rush of desire or whatever and the build up could have been a little longer in my opinion. It felt a tad fast (the progression of the scene I mean) but it's still a very beautiful and realistic moment I feel like. I love this scene.
@@lovemyshelf Either the first or scond time Simon visits his dad, he asks "hur är det med ryggen" = How's your back". I don't know what the English translation says, it may have been poorly translated. It's likely that a back injury started the whole drugs and booze spiral - Sara refers to a starting point, that may have been the cause.

It's really sad :( I hope they'll explore this more in s2 then bc I feel like not that many people (me included at the time) really realized how not okay it was for Simon to take the drugs, even if in his mind he was probably thinking it was the right thing to do for his father AND for him since he needed the money. Thank you for bringing that to my attention!

@@lovemyshelf and you are right about the boner. Even Simon's curls touching his face made a visible reaction in Wilhelm. He was so close to Simon, cuddling him. We can see his face was gone all red. Simon realized that and asked the question. Wilhelm became so blushy and emberrassed. Got up immediately and covered himself. After Simon said it was okay, he let himself to feel the moment.

Wilhelm got embarassed by how forward Simon was when he asked the question, and he was probably mortified as the mememories from the night before came back to his mind. If it was supposed to be bc of a boner, the scene wouldn't have played out the way it did. It was about them finally adressing their feelings for each other out loud (and then express those feelings physically, of course)

Decided to rewatch your old reactions. Idk if I’ve ever asked but did you see Skam France? I know you’ve seen some of them. But in SKam France season 3 “remember me” is the song during the emotional scene of Lucas locating Eliott. And so the very first time I saw this episode of young royals, I had to pause for about 10 ten minutes to get my crying under control after the choir finished singing the same song
I watched some clips but that's all bc as I explained in another video 1. I'm not the biggest Skam fan (that goes for the remakes as well, I only liked Druck) and 2. As a french native speaker... I can't get over how bad the acting is. Some scenes are more ok than others but overwhole... It's really unbearable... Sorry 😭 I know this is an unpopular opinion 😬

Around 18:40, you mentioned security but Wilhelm left his window a bit open, not fully closed, so they must have entered the room using window.
I guessed it was the case but I found weird how none of the guard heard any suspicious noise coming from the room when they both came back ... but I'll go with it for the story lmao

The royal diner gave us the level of pressure he has on him I feel. His speech too when he explain he has to make his brother proud*.
The song was beautiful, yes his voice is full with emotion, it is a talent, right.
I think Wille needs Simon to comfort him, but his duties takes it over, he chooses to deal with it on his own...and we know how he drown then.
I don't like Simon behavior with his dad and with August. And dealing drug as a solution for his money issue...not good Simon.
Wille break down is arrived. We waited for it after his brother death right. and he calls Simon of course (remember he couldn't delete his number actually).True, drug situation are sure infuriating for Simon, eve if he gets why Wille falls.
Yes the cuddling is something special here. Wille finally let himself be comforted. I understand why you say it is fast. That comforts me in the fact that Wille doesn't questions his feelings for Simon, but more doesn't feel allowed to live it. But not here obviously. They clearly craving for each other.
This frick show! I keep trying to identify a redeeming quality in August b/c I'd like to believe no one can be scripted to be THAT repugnant. But alas, I cannot... he just goes too far and shatters my suspension of disbelief. He's a freaking cartoon villain.
It's emblematic of my underlying problem with the whole series: manipulation of the audience's emotions. I cannot emote naturally to this b/c it seems so forced. You aptly titled this reaction! The director is toying with us! It's bordering on abuse at this point.
I wouldn't say August is a cartoon villain. From his perspective, I totally understand his motivations and he makes a lot of sense to me. He's just that bad of a person and sadly, there are people like him in real life :/
